I have been a long time user of PhoneLog which logs all calls and sms messages into your calendar. Excellent app.
The only issue is that with 6.5.5 /Sense 2 it does not seem to log SMS's anymore
Does anyone have a similar app. It logs it in real time and ends up on my work calendar via Exchange active sync.
im not familar with anything personally, but it sounds like a cool idea and i would be interested to know aswell.
by the way... are you using the HTC Messaging Client or the stock WinMo one? i wonder if that would make any difference to the performance of PhoneLog.
Its a thought.
Messages are still finally stored in the Winmo messaging client. The HTC one is just a skin however the phonelogs triggers may be blocked by HTC.
working
Can this cab and it seems to be working again.

Thanks for the tip lamensterms
you say 'can' this .CAB? do you mean trash/ditch the .CAB, or use that .CAB?
ha ha, im not trying to be a jerk... just not sure if you had a typo or not.
i do use that .CAB seeing as i couldnt agree with the HTC client.
glad you got it going, now i think ill have to check PhoneLog out.
cheers.
Typo. Cab worked fine.
Phone log = http://www.infinityball.com/phonelog/
Now is logging incoming messages but not outgoing.
I have tried using threaded view or single message view. Same issue. Better thou.
Also Sense now fails to acknowledge that the sms has been read. That might be a deal breaker.
Is there a util which can back up messages to calendar once a day/week?

while using the stock WM sms client... it is a know issue for Sense to keep displaying the notification bubble on the SMS tab. i experience this problem very rarely (so rarely that it is hardly a problem for me). i think it might have been discussed in the thread where you retrieved zenyee's .CAB, but i cannot remember for sure.

after some quick google "research"... it seems there are other apps similar to phonelog available for blackberry and android... but phonelog may be the only one of its kind for WM.
here is a request on another (microsoft) forum - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/outlook/thread/66e9160d-46ed-452c-91fa-6f3a6a88f86d
there are other folk out there who share your request. maybe some further integration could be on the horizon.
let me know how you go with HTC messaging VS WINMO.
cheers.

Ok I have a question. Since PocketCM has its own threaded sms and looks good with the bubbles etc, shouldnt it be possible for someone to make a threaded sms app with that same kinda look and interface? I mean, pocketCM is nice but it wont pop up automatically for me when I get a new text and u cant do it like the normal messaging app having an inbox whereas using pocketCM u have look up the contact, go to it then click on sms and history and that seems like a lil much just to get to messaging and its only for that person. I'd rather not have scroll thru all my contacts just to get to one. The guys at PocketCM should look into making their iown messaging app
if they could set it up like the shogun threaded messaging app w/ fixed input so you could see what your typing when using SIP keyboard it would be awesome, it doesnt seem like it would be too hard, but maybe it is
Shouldn't be too hard. PocketCM automatically shifts upward when typing a new message. I really like the interface of the sms part of PocketCM. Does anybody know a mortscript script to bring pocketCM up on the "Contacts with SMS" screen? Or maybe a .lnk shortcut for that??
Good question....I am waiting such application asa well, since Palm messaging didnt work well on my PPC.
my sentiments exactly... another one who's waiting for a good sms theader..
I'm waiting for this one.... hopefully it's going to be ok have waited a long time, though. Maybe it's difficult to make such an application.....
www.iwindowsmobile.com
what about just combine the in and sent box?
I was waiting for such an app too, palm app didn't just do it for me. My brother bought an iPhone, i played around with it and i really liked the SMS App, so i decided to develop my own Threaded SMS. Currently i am working on it, but it's going a bit slow cause i dont have enough time to work on. I'll post it here asa i get an alpha ready.
Meanwhile if you have any suggestions or features that this app can have, plz dont hesitate to drop me a PM

i would love to see the inbox and sent box threaded on one screen, so there is no need to go seperate contacts in order to see who i've texted....

Uhm, that's not how PCM works. If it doesn't pop up automatically and you have it set to in the options menu, you should check with tene over at pocketcm.com. As for scrolling down to find who sent you an sms, if you just go to the sms screen, it will be the first contact at the top of the list. They're sorted chronologically. That's how most other threader programs do it too. If you've been scrolling down through all of your contacts on the main screen, you've been wasting your time.
just wait for wm6.1, its got a great threaded sms
the Cody threaded sms is pretty good, but kinda slow and laggy and the most annoying thing is that sometimes it just opens up by it self. Is there anyway to fix that?
does anyone know of any other good threaded sms programs? I tried cody's threaded sms, it opened on its own, sent multiple copies of messages, and sometimes didnt even send messages. I installed textr but it just froze my mogul. I dont like pocketcm or the sms app from pocket-sms.com because they arent fully integrated. does anyone know of any other sms programs that work correctly and fully replace the default sms app (like cody's threaded sms does)?
yea i have the same problem as you Sturatt. I have been searching for a good SMS app. cannot find anything. I really like the Cody's Threaded sms features and layout but it has too many problems and does not work well on my Mogul. I want a good SMS app that is similar to cody's threaded sms. Also I don't want to wait for WinMo 6.1 if it is ever released.
Please see itje's thread about the WM6.1 ROM he's scheduled to release this weekend. I think that's what he meant when he said just wait for WM6.1...
Windows Mobile v6.1 ROM due to be released by itje - Touch IT
oh thats good news. Thanks for letting me know, I cant wait now.

Has anyone tried Extreme Text by Birdsoft. Its not freeware, $14.95. But it looks simple and stable and you can use poutlook and it reads the same database.
Any thoughts?

exactly. More than anything, i want it to completely take the place of the default sms app (like palm's app). Threaded would be nice, but even if its not, ill settle for a program that just replaces the default app.

So then what's your problem with PCM again?
It is annoying when you have little or no signal and you send an SMS only to get an unable to send SMS notification. It would be great if it could auto retry (AND get rid of the draft when the SMS is successfully sent).
Is there such a program? Couldn't find one on google or here.
Could someone make one?

Not sure with the standard messaging features but add ons like Vito SMS chat have this feature (resend) rather than searching through draft folders like you said.
I would like to bump this thread again. This can be a real annoyance and I can't imagine a skilled developer would take long to write an app to do this.

Maybe integrated to the WIndows default SMS application?
i think the app should monitor if a new sms is moved to the drafts folder

But this would send even the messages you intended to move to drafts folder. like messages you intended to send later. but if it is not possible for now to integrate to the existing default sms app, i think this is an option. BTW i know you can do this oldsap, ive been using some of your apps since way back to the SAP era. thanks for that.
hey guys, so i got my tmobile usa hd2 a week ago and so far its been okay, the phone is so beautiful i love the built quality and the sense UI, BUTTTT the sms lags soo bad sometimes, especially when i have a text message coming in, i restart the phone 1 or 2 times a day it sucks.. i wish i could just use the STOCK windows sms threading style when you disable sense.. :/ any fixes for the lag? or is just windows being windows? im kinda being pulled towards returning it and getting the nexus one..hmm
Hello,
I do not have any lag at all.
2 things I suggest:
delete conversations when you are done
clear all deleted items
Thank you,
Monnie
yeah but i shouldnt have to delete all my conversations tho :/ i mean this thing has 3 times the hardware my touch pro has and it never crashed (i dont have touch flo on) bc of the texts unless i had 6k plus texts in my inbox. lol

Try the Zenyee Messaging Cab (search XDA; it's posted EVERYWHERE!) to disable HTC Messaging and re-enable WM Messaging.
I don't know if anyone tried it with the stock T-Mo HD2 ROM yet, so I don't know what the results will be like. Just don't blame me if your phone explodes and plunges us into a world war.
lolol thanks

I just installed Zenyee's cab, and the SMS messaging doesn't have a conversation/threaded view. It's the old 6.1 view, but outlook messaging has conversation vew. Am I missing something? I like the threaded view.
Are you sure the windows messaging client isnt threaded? I may be mistaken but I think that when I disable Sense, my messages are still threaded.

The "old 6.1" (WM messaging) client should have the conversation/threaded view. On the top right of the screen there should be a drop-down arrow. Press it and choose either "received" or "conversation".
I have those settings...and I'm using a ROM with the WM messaging client.
Hi there.
I've had problems with my HD2 since I got it shortly after release last year. I've upgraded it to the latest ROM 1.66 and I still *had* problems with extreme sluggishness and freezing. "Services.exe" was a program that often got problems. I also had the "sleep of death" syndrome.
After I updated it and did a hard-reset I used PIMbackup to backup my contacts, SMS messages, appointments and such. No programs were restored. It still had the same problems. So I tried different things, but with no luck, until I did a hard-reset and restored everything except for my SMS messages. There were about 1600 of them, which I personally think is not that many. Now it runs fine, no freezing nor sluggishness.
So my question is, is it normal for an expensive smart phone like this to get that slow and unstable just by having a little too many SMS messages?
Thanks in advance.

i've just gone an deleted 5000 SMS's and i was not having any problems with slowness.
I just deleted them for a bit of house keeping, thats all.
i weekly take backup of sms's using pimbackup. if i dont clear the sms then it will b very difficult to text and open the application. it takes around 10-15 seconds to open a conversation thread with mor than 2000 sms's and around 8-10 seconds for 200-700 sms.
I weekly send around 4-5000 sms's and this fone have only one BAD point.. that is Messaging client.

So if you can have triple the amount of text messages than me, that must mean that there is something wrong with my phone, right?
If I send it to repair, they'll probably just hard-reset it, take a quick test on it, and sent it back saying they didn't find any problems on it. Isn't that right?

thats may be why, i dont, i found with HTC messaging client that with as little as 100 sms in my inbox the client would lag, so i reverted to WM messaging client and runs like a dream, on its not the best looking client but still, does the job as they say.
Ah, ok. Where can I find the WM client?
Thanks for your help!
im not 100% sure but i think there shuold be a way of dissabling HTC client and it will default to WM SMS, maybe someone else could shed some light on this
Nevermind, found it =)

no problem, like i said, its doesnt look great but performance wise you should notice the difference.
OS version - 5.2.21892 (21892.5.0.89)
Manila Version - 2.5.20121412.2
Rom Version - 2.13.531.1 (90963)
Rom Date - 04/28/10
Radio Version - 2.10.50.26
Protocol Version - 15.39.50.07U
The problem is that when I get an incoming text message, my phone will freeze for upwards of 2-5 min before the text clears and the sound plays. After the sound plays, my phone will have slight lag, but then go back to normal speed.
If multiple texts come in at the same time, my phone can be frozen for up to 15 min!
Any help?
Welcome to the HTC SMS client...the one true achilles heel of this phone. The newer version that comes in the ROM you have was supposed to fix all that, but it only seems to have helped a little, and not for everybody.
You can help it a little by keeping the number of messages in your inbox trimmed down to a minimum, but even that won't solve the issue where it chokes when getting too many messages too fast.
There's a cab or two to disable the HTC client and just work with the underlying WM interface, but I haven't tried any of them. Several of the custom ROM's available here also have that disabled by default (as part of their effort to make the phone work better in general).
So there is nothing to do?
No new messaging mods/apps or anything like that?
EDIT: I currently have lots of conversations and lots of texts in those conversations. Would trimming those down help?

Use the Microsoft Myphone program to archive your text messages online. They'll be pulled off your phone and stored in your online profile. You can restore any single sms or all of them if you.
It wont archive MMS, so you'll need to manually save those and delete them from your inbox.

Did you read the replies to this thread? In the end there is no proven fix for the problem when using the HTC Messenger. I have found that using the windows messengers greatly if not completely eliminates the problem all together.

How would you use the windows messenger?
Like disable sense ui and use the titanium ui? Cause I believe that still pulls up the HTC messenger.
I love Vito SMS-Chat...

ranestari, that article there has a link to (one of) the cabs I mentioned above, that will simply disable the HTC SMS client and let you use the stock WM interface instead. That should go a long way towards helping with your issues, but we still highly recommend not letting your inbox get too overstuffed...WM has long been known for not being able to tolerate that.
Sorry to necro this thread, but is there any other messaging client that I could use a cab with?
With the stock windows mobile client, I don't recieve any texts, but I know that they get sent.
