Task Syncronization with Exchange - myTouch 3G Slide General

I'm switching from the Touch Pro 2 to the Slide. For the most part, I am pretty happy with the switch. The one thing I am missing is the ability to sync tasks with Exchange. It handles contacts, mail, and calendars out of the box, so I would think tasks would work as well. Am I missing something, or do I need to buy a third party app like TouchDown to accomplish this?

Anyone tried FUNAMBOL for Adnroid?

I think it's supposed to propose a solution for the lack of exchange support (calendar for example) with android.
Anyone knows if it really does?

What lack of Exchange support?
I have been using my Android Device with full exchange support for a long while now.
As to the OP, no, I have not used this app...
exchange on N1
Calendar Sync, Accept invitations, overlay Gmail and exchange calendars in a single view, GAL support, auto complete from Gmail and GAL when composing an email, search email on server.
All of the above worked perfect on my good old iPhone.

I can accept and create calendar events without issue. Never had a need to overlay Google and Corp calendar since I want to keep them separate...
I use 2 different apps for personal and work email, so don't need personal contact in my corp directory or work contact in my personal directory. I can auto complete names without issue in those respective apps as well.
Glad the iPhone let you do that, but I would not have used those features.

Hey... maybe I'm missing something.
How do you use calendar? N1 doesn't come with exchange calendar app. Are you using Moto's CorpCal?
What about autocomplete in exchange mail "To" field? Did you do anything special to enable it?
I run my own Funambol server and have used the client for years on Windows/Linux Thunderbird/Outlook and Windows Mobile.
The client for Android only syncs contacts at the moment, and it works. But, the developer typically works at a snails pace, so I'm not expecting to see full sync capability for another 2 years.

Outlook Calendar in phone?

I use Outlook (through Exchange) calendar intensely and need it on-line on my phone as well. In my old WM-world this has always been seamless. On the X10, however, I'm having difficulties. The phone's calendar app is linked directly to G-mail which I absolutely don't want to use and while there seems to be the possibility to add other calendars to the phone's view this is actually greyed out in the settings menu. Anyone know how to fix this? I.e. I want to have my Outlook/Exchange calender synchronized with my phone's calendar directly. On the Hero this seems to be standard (HTC no doubt), but here I don't have a clue how to proceed. Hating Moxier with a vengance, BTW...
Help?/M
I think that Exchange is not implemented in Android 1.6 which is why SE included Moxier in the basic functionality*
I am using Moxier Mail and Calender and they work a treat and sync with my work email/calender with no problems...
* Although a friend with a Nexus ONE has also had difficulties syncing his phone calender with Exchange, so it may not be just an Android version issue.

Indeed Exchange is not in 1.6 but it is in 2.1. It IS however on the X10 Mini Pro which is also 1.6. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. I'll find out more when I get a Mini tomorrow...
As any widget I've found to put my short-term calendar on the screen (like in HTC Sense) takes its data from the phone's calendar and NOT from Moxier, I'm screwed. Or not good at finding widgets?
Thanks anyway/M

How sync task...using Outlook Only no Google??

Still waiting on my DINC...
I am a WM user and ActiveSync does sync task. I read the HTC sync does not and I need all my contacts, calendar, task, etc sync
I do not use Google at all so can anyone recommend to me how to sync task or maybe another app I can use...?
Not your answer but ...
My #1 concern when leaving WM (I really really wanted my next phone to be WM) was outlook sync. I am very happy with the Calendar and Contact sync the Incredible does. I have not tried tasks and can't tell you about that. I use rememberthemilk for tasks; it is an online task manager which will also sync to astrid (free task manager) on your phone.

Wow...thx this is good feedback and I agree I do not have my DINC yet but am very concerned about leaving WM in the fact I do not know how my Outlook data will sync over to the new device since I am so use to ActiveSync
So sounds like you are saying installing rememberthemilk with add the function to sync my Outlook task to the DINC device..?
I switch from WM6.1 to DINC the day it came out. I use Touchdown for Exchange syncing and it works very well (occasionally it loses settings but that is a refresh and a re-sync of 15 minutes). Touchdown is $20, but Android 2.2 will have better Exchange capabilities I understand.
I don't use Tasks so its not that big a deal to me but everything else works flawlessly. Here is a link to the new Exchange features:

Sounds interesting....how does this help when I use copy email Outlook which is on Exchange and then I use personal email on my home Outlook...the WM creates separate mailboxes for Exchange mail and the other personal mail??
Syncing tasks is a big deal to me too. So far I've found only one way to do it well with my desktop Outlook and my DI. On the Incredible I use an app called Got to Do. It is nothing but a task/to do list. BUT, it does sync with a web-based app called Toodledo, which has a feature that syncs with Outlook.
So my Outlook tasks automatically sync with Toodledo, which automatically syncs with the app on my DI.
So far it's working okay but if someone were to develop a stand alone desktop app that syncs with an android app, I'd sure take s hard look at it.
Good info...thx
I have all my contacts loaded on my account on my company's exchange server. I sync all my email and contacts and calendar through there. I don't do tasks.
Sometimes there are "glitches" that require you to have to mess with it. I had to re-add my account probably twice since 5/1 but its quick and easy to do.

Froyo and Outlook Tasks and Notes

So what's up with Outlook syncing in Android 2.2? Why is there no simple notes application on this new version of the OS? Why can't it sync with all Outlook features as it did in version 1.6?
It looks as though I will be forced to use Google docs and use something to sync that with Outlook. I use Outlook notes and tasks for work and really need them back on my phone.
I just needed to type and store a quick note on my phone and discoverd that there was no native application for that. Will there be a solution for this in Gingerbread??
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
no native.
i use VCOrganizer (tasks, calendars, notes contacts and categories)
(use only 1 way contact sync or u find doubled contacts on the phone)
it works also with outlook 2010 64bits
i treid many but this is the only one i found that sync also outlook notes
not free

...feel your pain. This has been my biggest challenge too coming from years of (relatively) painless Outlook to phone syncing with WinMo phones...but I am loving this more and more every day!
Basically I ended up "moving to the cloud"...using CompanionSync (worth the $$) to auto sync O2k10 to google.com (includes tasks) and EverNote to sync notes. DropBox for documents and folders. Tasks appear in the google calendar on the due date.

This problem (and a full list of potential synchronisation solutions) is well documented over at http://www.syncdroid.net/
Does anyone know is there have been any further developments towards getting all of outlooks features to sync with android??

I use enhanced email. Not sure if it supports tasks and notes, but the developer is very active on his forum for enhancements.

Outlook calendar sync fail

Phone: T-Mobile (US) LG G6
OS: Android 7.0, build ID NRD90U
I'm not sure how long I've had this problem, since I tend to use my laptop calendar more than my phone's.
I use Outlook.com for email, contacts, and calendar. I do not use Gmail/Google for these services.
My email client is Nine, which also has a built-in calendar.
I use the built-in LG Calendar, but I've also tried the aCalendar+ app, which I own. Both calendars say they are displaying the Outlook calendar, but nothing actually displays. The Outlook account is registered on the device through the Nine app, and the built in Nine calendar works fine, displaying the actual Outlook calendar content. I have no problems with Contacts sync using the built-in LG Contacts app.
I've tried going into Settings>Accounts>Nine><myemail> to make sure it's set to sync the calendar. But for some reason nothing actually appears in the Calendar app, or in aCalendar. I'm at a loss to know what to try next.
Which setting do you have for the default calendar-app in Nine under Settings-Calender?
I do also use Nine however with an Exchange-account. My default calendar app is Nine and this works fine.
I had the same problem. And 3rd party programs are a good solution in this case. The nice one is Akruto. It doesn't work with email, it is intended to sync calendars, contacts, notes, and tasks. The syncing is two-way, so you'll see all the changes you made across all your devices. Here is an article about it http://www.akruto.com/best-ways-to-sync-android-with-microsoft-outlook/
