All,
i have a problem with that Kies software. Any time i connect my Galaxy to the PC, it displays an error "PC connection available only in idle screen. Close running applications".
I have killed all apps with Advanced Task Killer - no luck, still same error.
Yeah, I kept getting the same damn problem over and over again. If someone knows what to do I'd be jolly happy
Found solution in another post.

get home switcher from the market, and when you need to connect it up just switch to touchwiz, you dont need to close it or uninstall or anything. hope this helps!
Thanks for figuring this out I was about to wipe my phone.
Haha, yeah, mucho gracias. I was about to wipe my phone as well. The alternate launchers were one of the first things I added damnit, and this was frustrating the hell out of me!

Hi there,
Recently I have been experiencing a strange problem with the M600. Communication helps me to connect to wifi. Everything is fine and I can do whatever I want, browse the net, file transfer via network etc. The problem comes when I exit the Communication Manager. I press the wifi icon to disable wifi, then I close the Communication manager. After this the system freezes! Nothing works including start menu. The only way out is soft reset. Because of this I have to reset my device 3-4 times a day! Very annoying. Any similar experience to anyone? Any cure? Or am I missing something?
Anyone? please. This is getting on my nerves now. I have to reset my device 4-5 times a day, probably more than this! Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
hi, sorry I havent been getting these issues! I know this sounds very Dell Tech support but what about a hard reset?
Hi,
I have almost the same prob:
If I close my comm manager with the upper right button in the screen my system freezes for about 4 seconds but after that everything is fine.
If I close the comm manager with the exit button in the lower left side of the screen the app closes immediatly without any freezes...
so try this and good luck

Hi, I took your advice and did a hard reset. Everything seemed to fine until today when it froze couple of times when communication manager was turned off I think some of the programmes which I installed may be inter acting with Comm, manager but I dont know which
comm manager is a buggy app... sit tight and wait for a fix from HTC.
With my x7501 I can connect in bootloader. Just flashed factory ROM, the Michy's 6.1 clean. In both ROMs I get the "failed to connect" sound from my PC in the fisrt boot screen, just when the red text disappears (and of course, then, nothing happens reagrding the connection). I can connect my wizard and sync.
Lately:
I installed Shantz Today Changer, uninstalled a dumb Minsweeper game (my four-year-old loves the OEM version). I've been having some PC issues, like dropping wifi every few minutes, Google Chrome crashed the OS so I uninstalled, and Quicklaunch icons show up funny occaisionally. My BT also isn't working, (Broadcom stack) software can't find the local device.
So whatever happened to "cable is stable"? Anyone up for a puzzle and kind enough to give me a clue?
Next steps: restore from Sprite Backup and keep popping out my card to exchange files (sneaker mail, anyone?). I'll probably live without Desktop Outlook until I get this solved, since I started using Flexmail and Pocket Informant, I can pretty much do what I need to do on the handheld and have to take it with me, but what a hassle (yes, I'm spoiled). I will try another PC, too.
Working for now
I waited overnight, let it reboot twice as per my nightly routine, this morning unchecked "Enable advanced network functionality" under USB-to-PC in the system tab of Settings. I have a funny feeling that anything I did didn't make a difference, since it all happened so early in the ROM loading process.
I hope the thread helps someone who runs into the same problem.
I am so tired of all the WTF moments in WM. I guess, no matter what, if you want it all, you have to fight for it and deal with the setbacks.
Can somebody with the know how make a little program which litterally only performs one task: kills the process services.exe.
The reason for this is it is the cause of many soft resets in a day. Sometimes not even fixing the slowdown anyway and causing the famous black screen of death.
But as soon as i go to sktools and use the processes tool and kill the process phone goes back to being how it should! However because the phone goes into major slowdown it takes ages for the sktools processes program to load and then hard to select services from the list because of the lagging etc so it would be nice just to have a link that i could put on my quick links and when phone goes to melt down just press this magic button which saves the phone being hurled at a wall!
It needs to be called Meltdown Override or something!
This is a serious request as it would make HD2 use a much more pleasant experience!
Many thanks
This is pretty easy to do AFAIK...
If nobody else does it, I can do it when I have some more free time ...
I would appreciate this so much!
I think I may even use AEB to assign it to a long press of the back key or something
But, does services.exe auto-starts again? Because you could have some problems if you kill it and don't start it again...
Yer it does straight away but not running at 90% + CPU.
I find it unlikely that services.exe is really the culprit here, but rather a service installed on your phone that is misbehaving. If you find out which service is causing the problem, and then uninstall or disable it....

This guy is right...
Ive only just installed a new ROM voda UK 1.72 so I have next to no programs installed at the moment so I don't see what could cause it.
The main time this happens is when left charging over night and when you go to use it in the morning it's completely screwed. Soft reset doesnt fix it it just goes to black screen of death so then u have to take the battery cover off and reset again. The only thing i have found to get it to a useable state again is to kill process services.exe, and then its fine again. Once by doing that it stopped weather update and text messaging from working but atleast when i then did a soft reset things where still fine and those two things worked again and no laggy phone.
I kno it seems stupid to just kill a process and not find the problem but i cant see what the problem could be considering how recently i hard reset the phone (which i did 3 times in total to see if it got rid of the problem).
Just forget that ROM and go back to a working one? Seems easy to me... don't always need to have the latest or highest version number, just something that works... If 1.72 doesn't work for you, don't use it!
I would if it wasn't for the fact that after doing the annoying procedure in the morning of killing process "services.exe" then soft reseting, it runs the quickest i have ever been able to use the device on any ROM before it
You know that services.exe is one of the main parts of your phone-funcionality (calls, sms, etc.)?
As you said you experience it in most cases in the morning... Have u got GAlarm installed?
If yes --> Did you check the RegKey MidnightWakeup=True and change it to false?
My Girlfriends TD2 had the same issue. CPU usage by services.exe was often around 70-90% until i applied this change...
Services.exe is just like svchost on a windows-machine, it just hosts a bunch of services. So most likely its a service that has gone crazy.
hey everyone,
maybe someone can shed some light on this issue.
every night for the Last week, whether plugging in to charge, or turning on the wifi function or just unlocking the tab.. it suddenly without warning it reboots. i can't figure out why and what is causing it to reboot?
thanks in advance for any replies!
Galaxy Tab / xda-app
you have anything scheduled to run at that time, any apps?
How long have you had it? I've been reading a lot about some having troubles with this sort of thing. The SG Tab will all of the sudden just vibrate once or twice then just reboot for no apparent reason. I would think that if you've had it for a while, then you would've run into the problm already. My first Tab done the same thing and I ended up taking it back and exchanging it for another one.
hey guys,
no apps set to run at that timeframe. and now in the morning when i unlocked the unit and clicked the wifi button to turn on, the screen goes blank (and I sigh. . .) as i just watched it reboot!! its never done that in the mornings.
Yes, i have had it since Nov 2010. it is a Tab from Asia. to be precise the Taiwan market. so it has gsm functionality built in. i have rooted it or anything. its stock.
butb i have noticed that after installing an anti virus software it started to reboot. it never did before. i have uninstalled it for over a month now and everyday the tab reboots. I have also done the same for apps from the market. install and uninstall.
maybe i should restore and start from scratch?
Galaxy Tab / xda-app
You should uninstall the anti virus software. There isn't any android virus.
It happened to mine yesterday while I was turning my wifi on. And I've only had my Tab for about two weeks now.

If it's happening only at night, do you think it's something to do with 'Quiet times'? Like, for example new mail notifications we can set a quiet time. May be you should check which all apps offer quiet time and disable it for a day.

you mean you have not rooted it or you have rooted it???
Thanks for the replies.
There is no quiet time installed.
Never been rooted. Stock as stock can get.
I have uninstalled the antivirus software already.
Yesterday, same thing (rebooting). I am expecting it to reboot anytime soon now. . . Sigh. .
some of my Tabs specs:

Maybe you should check if there's a firmware update out and flash it. But remember to backup all you apps and settings first.

Thanks for the suggrstion.
Samsung website has no info that I could find.
Thanks for any suggestions guys/girls.
I think i may backup and reset the whole device.
Galaxy Tab / xda-app
You have just suggested what I was about to say..... Perform a Factory Reset and see if it still happens on a 'untouched Tab'.
By untouched I mean do not install ANYTHING.... Simply set up your Tab and then see what happens at the time when you mention it is acting in the manner you describe.
If you have not already performed the Factory Reset you could try turning off your Wifi before the time the Tab reboots itself.
The reason being to see if there is an App that is hitting the Wifi for an update.
With the Wifi turned off the update can not get through, it would have to use 3G (if you have it).
You could then start to isolate what App is causing the issue.
Now something is just wrong. The Tab is now resetting anytime of day ONLY when I turn on wifi.
I removed all apps and factory reset the tab, monitored if the phone resets itself and it does even without any loaded apps!
What to do now?
Galaxy Tab / xda-app
flash a new rom
sometimes factory reset does not solve the whole problem.
I suggest to make a firmware repair using the samsung software.
I used to have like 14 pages of apps, thats like 200+ sitting around on my tab memory. My tab had freezed, lagged and rebooted like crazy, I made a backup(100 apps) and a factory reset and my tab *temporarily* stopped doing all of these things, then I started again with my hunger for apps and the issues started again.
My advice: beware of the apps, I started to suffer all of these after I completed the 6th page of my launcher and now I have to keep closing apps and services to maintain stability.
Thanks for the suggestions from the both of u. I will look into it and reflash as my solution.
Thanks again!

Today, my phone rebooted on its own... happens every few days for seemingly no reason. once it came back up, I noticed that the back and menu button, where swapped... the back button brings up my opened apps list, and vice versa.
I've tried clearing the cache, and that did nothing to fix the problem. I haven't installed anything new lately, or made any changes I can recall. phone has not been rooted.
Any idea how to fix this?
thanks guys

if you are on stock, there's an option to change this in Settings - Features
OH MY GOD!!! that was driving me CLAZY! thank you... I thought I remembered seeing that, but didn't know where... much appreciated man. !
Usually a random reboot would be a memory thing. I would start by looking at what is running and how much memory it consumes. Uninstall anything not used and disable stock apps you don't want. I sometimes find alternative apps that behave better when an app decides it wants to run by itself for no reason of your choosing.

I had random reboots after I DFU-unbricked my phone. I installed Marshmallow on it and tried to stay there for some time. i had random reboots every couple hours. Factory reset/installing an official update didn't work. The only thing that actually fixed my device was going the LOS way (then returning to stock).
