Anyone know how to get the imei for the evo? The old trick was *#06# but it doesn't work on the evo.
Sent from my SuperSonic using XDA App
The evo doesnt use imei numbers, only gsm phones use those features. you have to look for esn in the form of hex and dec..just pull the battery and youll see.
Ok thought so. I'm trying to get a register key from a developer and he wants the number for some reason. I don't know why he wont just give me the key. I had to replace my old evo
But thanks anyway

Hi all,
was just filling my warranty card.. and I was thinking.. where is the serial number of the phone?
Should be inside your phone. Behind the battery maybe. The IMEI number is what're they want i think.

ah.. nope, it's not the IMEI because they are asking of that as well.
It's on the box under the IMEI number... look under the barcode for the numbers.
I dont quite see the point. Anyone have any info?

You can flash then use them on other networks, i.e. Metro PCS

I've boughten bad esn phones as dev phones so I can flash things and test things out on a phone that I don't have to rely on before putting it onto my main phone. Or some people use them for parts, or to flash. Theres a market for them for sure, but I always wonder how did they become bad esn phones lol.
To have a bad esn is if its lost/stolen then VZW or whoever locks it out of their system forever untill the person who lost it says they got it back and reactivates it. Or if someone doesnt pay their bill and the phone is on the account, it turns into a bad esn.
Hahaha so its like buying a stereo with the serial scratched off

I buy for parts, specially the screen If the price is right.

Yup just sold three bad esn phones today that will be flashed to Cricket, one to Pocket. I have another phone, a verizon tour with a bad esn, that I just unlocked to use on AT&T. I buy them very cheap unlock or flash and resell them for more.
Muahaha
Is there anyway to unlock this phone to still use on sprint? Thank you
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA Premium App
The Inspire? AT&T, right? If that's what you're asking then there is a zero percent chance. Nada.

Do you mean that you bought a phone with a bad esn and they won't let you use it?
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA Premium App
Yes. I'm not asking for myself, I'm asking for a friend. He paid off his acct but they still wont turn it on. So it has bad esn. What can he do? Anything we can flash?

The only way to do it and stay on Sprint is illegal and not allowed to be talked about on this forum
Can u private message me then
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA Premium App
The only way for the phone to remain on Sprint is for your buddy to be persistant with Sprint, and get them to release the ESN. If the account is paid for, the phone should no longer have a hold on it. Otherwise, it will only work with cricket/metro pcs, and possibly Boost, if you find the right CS associate.
I'm using evo shift on the China Telecom

Hello. I would really like to figure out how I can use this Evo Shift on boost mobile. I recently flashed my HTC Droid Incredible to Cricket so I have some knowledge. I would flash this to Cricket but the service coverage is horrible. Thanks for any help.

There are plenty of guys with Evo 4Gs on Boost. The only thing you really need to do is to have the CS add your ESN to Boost. There is no cloning involved. You may need to call a few times, and kind of play ignorant as to what type of phone you have (say a keyboard phone). But, based on what I read in the Evo forum, the rep can just add the ESN, and it's not a big deal. I'd read up more on adding a phone to boost under the Evo forum, and PM the people, to see what they had to do.
what can i do with a evo with bad esn number? can i offer it to sprint for the buy back program to get evo 3d or will i get in trouble?
You might just be screwed. That's why you always meet at a sprint/verizon store when purchasing local because they can check if the esn is good it bad.
Wait for more input though, I have never dealt with a cdma device except for a razr that I once flashed from sprint to verizon.

Well, a friend of mines found a phone for verizon and took it to verizon to activate it. The reps told him the esn was used. He told them he bought it off of craigslist and had no clue so they activated on his line feeling sorry for him. Now this was Verizon and maybe he got lucky but, hopefully this story helps you out. I hate it when people screw other people over.
I know you can flash Sprint phones to metro pcs. Not sure if it can be done for a phone with a bad esn?

Your best bet is to sell it on Craigslist I know it can be flash to Boost mobile even with a bad esn... hope that helps

Yes they do. They, and every other store that buys back phones, are required to check the esn.

No you cant flash a sprint phone to Boost with a bad esn. Its all the same network.
Your best bet would list on Ebay and craigslist. Specifically state that it has a bad esn. Tell them that you CAN flash and change things to work on metro or cricket and you can make your money back. I had the same problem and actually made money.
Or you can pay what they owe to Sprint.....right???

You can easily sell it on ebay for $150+. Just state it has a bad esn. I sold my friends phone on there for $156 2 weeks ago.

wow that site just told me my bad ESN evo i've been using on Cricket for a year actually has a clean esn....lol
anyway, even if it has a bad ESN it can be used on Cricket or MetroPCS. $55 a month for unlimited everything (well no 4g) isn't a bad deal for an Evo.....

Is there information genuine? I just tried it on a Samsung A900 I bought off ebay a while ago with a bad ESN... Well I guess it was supposed to be bad... And this site says its clear??? Weird...

I bought a bad esn evo and verified it was lost/stolen using that site. Haven't used it other than that.
I think the best option would be to "flash" the phone to boost mobile. Then you can either sell it or keep it on boost for yourself. The reason I think this would be your best option (besides just reselling it to someone who wants it perhaps) is because putting the phone on boost requires changing the esn, so it doesn't matter if the phone has a bad esn.

Their program isn't a buy back program, it's a recycling program. Doesn't matter if the ESN is bad or not, they take it for store credit. I know this, because I used to work at a Radio Shack.

Yeah you can, you just clone the esn from a boost device to the Evo.

Which is illegal.
Just wanted to know - how many times can you use a donor phone? (ie. rant or incognito > boost mobile)
Am I using it for it's meid or just for flashing purposes. Thanks in advance for you help.
You're using it for it's MEID, for network provisioning... It'll depend on the company.... Cellular South, Verizon, and Sprint all check to see if someone has that phone on their account or if it's stolen... So it has to be not stolen or not currently in use, or if was previously in use, released by that account...
Since it's a donor phone, it can't be re-used if you're currently using it's MEID info on a different phone...
Thanks naught - so if i wanted flash to boost i could only use it once?
boost is same as Verizon right?

You can flash to boost all you want, but once that info has been activated on a boost account, it can't be used again, unless it's released from the account... I think boost is with nextel... but using using verizon towers for cdma service... a few years back, it was nextel/boost, I'm not sure about now...
Any way to release it from the account and reuse the donor and still use the flashed phone

No, the whole purpose is to take the donor phones boost MEID info so that it can be loaded onto and different phone and activated on boosts network... that phone is useless as long as your using it's info on different phone...
