Change number of bars or db level? - Droid Incredible General

have an incredible. is there any way to change the number of bars or the -db level of the bars? For instance, I'd like to change it to six bars or have the fourth bar be at minimum a -85 db level.
Anyway to do this?

I think any changes to the notification bar require a modified rom
(I could be wrong)
but at the moment there doesn't appear to be any roms (or otherwise) to do this. if someone else has a solution I'd be all ears - been really wanting the same.

you need to modify StatusBarPolicy.java in your build

There is no 4g booster - there's the Airave femtocell but it's not even 3g, its 1x as far as data is concerned. You can find more info on the airave here;
www.sprint.com/airave
oh yeah - theres also a thread on sort of the same subject here;

There is a setting in the ##3282# menu that you can set it to connect from further away, but this isn't exactly a signal boost. Yeah, with the setting changed you might get a 4g signal where you haven't gotten it before, but the performance would probably be extremely poor, or drain the battery bigtime

Improve 4g signal

I've ben reading through many posts and can't find anything on improving my 4g signal. Is there any way to improve my signal. I was the manager for an indirect dealer a couple of months back. When I was at the store I would get full bars all the time. At home I only get one bar on a good day. There is also one window that I can stand by and get 2 bars.

Are you using your phone for your home Internet connection? If so, I can understand your being upset about not getting 4g in your home, but outside of that, why would you care? I get 10mbps a quarter mile away from my home, but not at all in my home. But I don't care, because in my home I'm using wifi anyways.
If you are relying on it as your Internet connection, you might want to look at Avas rom, as it has some 4g tweaks. Good luck!
I am sharing my internet at home with several computers and 4g would make a huge difference. I was hopping not to have to root to improve my signal. Thanks for pointing that out I'll look into it.

well there is a way to improve 4G by tweaking the radio but you need your MSL in order to modify those settings. I remember pulling them from here in the EVO development forums

search for msl reader in marketplace (it's free). then use "search" to find the two threads on making 4G connect faster (idk the direct links off-hand, sorry)

MSL reader requires root access. You're going to have to call Sprint to learn your MSL.
But the threads about 4G don't really improve signal strength. They just allow you to hold it for longer.
There's not much you can do to increase 4g strength as far as I'm aware.

If it's the indirect dealer i'm thinking of(the same shack i bought my evo's from) some of them were putting up 4G repeaters which could account for your increased signal while at work.

Further details on the upcoming OTA fix

Hi All,
I don't know if any of you have had the occasional issue with the home/back button doing phantom long presses but if you have a fix is on its way and will be included in the OTA due shortly to resolve the reboot issues. I posted the following question on the Google support forums and this is what the Google rep had to say:
Thanks Ry Guy,
Is the fix likely to be included in the upcoming OTA fix for reboots? or will it be after that?
Thanks!!

Hi RobMac74,
The fix will be included in the upcoming OTA, so this shouldn't be a problem much longer
Cheers,
Ry Guy

so it looks like we have a fix coming for two important issues, from my perspective this is pretty impressive support from Google....what do you guys think?
Really nice support from Google. Pushing out OTA:s that quickly is impressive.

The power of a Google Phone
Apparently they are fixing a security issue with the "SD card" space being accessible. Not sure on the details as I quickly read over it the other day. Google should be able to tell all though if you search for it.
I wish they would include a fix for the poor wifi reception
Gx
I just wish they included a change log with these things. It would be nice to know what to expect, or what to look for.
For the bad calibration of the white color she will be corrected OTA? (yellow tint)

Is the reception really poor for you or is it just that the signal strength indicator for WiFi appears to be lower? I, too, noticed this when I first got my Nexus S compared to my Nexus One, however the WiFi does work up to the same distance away from my router on both phones. Maybe they just need to tweak the way the signal indicator is displayed?
In my case, it often disconnect suddenly ... and immediately reconnect.
Very often ...
While I don't have that issue with my HTC Desire.
Nothing has changed in the network.

It works OK just with minimum signal but downstairs in my kitchen I have no signal at all whereas my ipad and palm have nearly full signal. If I move closer to the router to a position where minimum signal returns, it then drops in and out...very frustrating.

Same here frequent disconnects & reconnects aswell as weak signal (probably why it keeps disconnecting). I'm on my 4th NS & they were all the same. Wifes Galaxy S has no such problems, my son Moto Defy has no problems & an IPhone 4 I have also has zero problems.
Is there already a report about this problem on the Nexus S official support forum?

Remove "AT&T" from notifications bar?

Is there any way to remove "AT&T" from the notification bar? It takes up room that I'd rather have devoted to notifications.

Haven't found anything to do so. But I'm sure someone will write a flashable script or make us push something with Root explorer to make it go away.

I hear you bro. Its annoying as hell.
This is so annoying...
Agreed... that's the first thing that annoyed me about this phone
I noticed it early on but some reason wasn't annoyed about it until recently. The thing that bugs me most about it is the fact that it stands on it's own off to the side. I don't think I'd mind as much if it was paired next to the signal strength. Either way, I don't think it needs to be there constantly...
Even more annoying when I'm at home, and its "AT&T M-CELL". heh.
i wished in my phone was "ATT"..
it is "CYTAMOBILE-VODAFONE"

Gingerblur looks like it still has some maturing to do.
Any other way except from gingerblur?
I tried a couple of things but nothing..
from: Change Carrier Name
if i install gingerblur via Recovery(install custom zip),
my current data will be erased right?
Logically thinking the developers of Gingerblur know the file that has to be modified..

[Q] Change own Phone Number n ROM

So what's the setting for in the pics rooms under Own Number? I get that it changes what the sim sees but is that all? That as it is seems almost useless. Hoping there's some greater reason for this......

I recall people asking about this because a few apps use that setting to function. I believe one of them had something to do with voicemail. Pretty important to them....
