I have been using this phone for 3days now and I still haven't figured out how to enable this text input. I can't find it on the text input options, though it is on the Font & Text Setting. I have even given the tutorial a go. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Thought I saw this question and answer somewhere, not sure. If so, this is double post.
Anyway, when you get into text mode,
1. Look for the text area on the screen.
2. Do a "long press", that is press and hold.
3. You should see "Text Input Method"
4. Click on it, you should see Swype option.
Got it working, thanks mate! Sorry if this has been posted before, forgot to do a quick search.

I've made a search and found that topic.
I can now use Swype on my SGS.
Thanks pinoypower for having asked that before me
Cheers
That was really helpful. Thanks.

I have accidentally switched off swype keyboard and only get the stock Samsung keyboard for all typing operations now.
I still have swype settings in the main settings panel but no way to make swype the default keyboard that I can find.
Can anyone help me to reactivate swype please?

I think you can just press and hold the input area and you're presented with the keyboard option to use and you can just pick swype.
Does someone knows how do i use the speech to text on my sms? I'm kinda new to this android thing.
Thanks.

Press and hold down on the area where you want to enter the text. Select input method -> Swype.
Thanks for that, I wouldn't have found that in a month of Sundays!
Why isn't Swipe in the normal input selection.
This may turn out to be an inane question, but I have had my unlocked Galaxy S I9000 for two weeks and have not been able to figure out how to turn on the Swipe keyboard feature. I have suffered through the tutorial where the feature worked just fine but unless I overlooked something there was no mention of turning the feature either on or off. All of the feature's adjustments under the settings heading appear to be initiated so, what have I missed?
Thank you in advance.
On my hero I have to first go into SETTINGS, LANGUAGE & KEYBOARD, then de-select my htc keyboard and select swype

Hi. I've seen some pics of galaxy s4 keyboard on internet that every key has a symbol on top right of it, that types it when it is long-pressed. But mine is not like that and every key has only a letter on it and long-pressing it shows a pop up with other similar letter. Like when I long-press "s" there is ß, ś, š, and ş and no punctuation marks. So i have to press sym button, enter the symbol i need and then press the button again to type letters. I searched the setting but found nothing about it. Can it be changed? I attached two pictures. The screenshot is from my phone and the other pic is the one that I want mine to be like.
I also noticed that all the phones that has the punctuation marks for long-press are white! don't know if there is a connection but in all the pictures and videos in youtube, black ones don't have the feature but white ones do.
Some custom roms have it enabled. You can also enable it on any rom if your phone is rooted. I have done so myself. Not sure if any firmwares have it enabled at the stock level though.
Is your phone rooted?

Use root explorer or similar and put the following in your others.xml file. You can find it in the system / csc folder.
<CscFeature_Sip_UseSymbolInCMKey>true</CscFeature_Sip_UseSymbolInCMKey>
<CscFeature_Sip_EnableSymbolInSecondary>de;en_US;en_GB</CscFeature_Sip_EnableSymbolInSecondary>
Make sure you enable read / write and open with text editor then save. Reboot then it will be activated.
See mine below. It's the second last entry from the bottom.

When keyboard is open, long press the microphone symbol (bottom row, between SYM and spacebar). A bar with six icons will pop up. 3rd from the left (looks like a battery to me) will open up anything in clipboard. This is the only way I'm aware of but not sure if there's another way.

Thanks for pointing this out. Also if you long press on one od the items in the clipboard, it opens a contextual menu with additional options for your clips. I like the lock feature. I've always used an app called "Clipper " but I'm gonna play with Samsung's Clipboard app and see if I like it .

Thank you guys for this. I didn't know that was possible.
Is there a way to get to the clipboard if you're not using the Samsung keyboard? I am using Swype.
Thanks again.

Good question. Occasionally I'm in some text editor and I see a panel of clipboard of copied and cut text snippets, but I don't know how to recreate it.

Yeah, I've been using Clipper for about 3 years now, the best I've found so far. I like the sync feature with the PRO version because it sync's across all my android device. I like that you can create sets, I have an email set that holds all my email addresses. Very handy little app. Haven't had any problems using it with my Note 3.
