Backing up Opera 9.7 bookmarks - HD2 General

Sorry should have posted this in Q&A - my bad.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a tip or tell me how to back up my opera 9.7 bookmarks please?
My phone syncs with my exchange account at work and my mobile internet folder there, so if I ever flash the phone at the weekend I can't ever access my bookmarks until I'm back to work.
Is it possible to do this? Also, could I do an XML back up or would it just be easier to keep a copy on my storage card?
Thanks!

Just copy the favorites folder somewhere... Opera places all your favs in there...

Thank you very much, I'll do that.

Import Firefox bookmars or IE favorites to OperaMobile on your Touch HD

I found this info here (in German) and thought I would pass it on, since I haven't found anything about it in this forum.
1) Export your FF or IE bookmarks to your PC (bookmarks.html)
2) Install Opera 9.xx on your PC
3) import the bookmarks.html file from step 1
4) make any changes you want in Opera, then close Opera
5) Go to C:\Documents and Settings\"USER NAME"\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile
and find a file called Opera6.adr
6) Copy this file to your Touch HD into the following directory:
My Device\Windows\Opera9
It will replace the Opera6 file that is currently on your Touch HD, and you should now have those bookmarks in OperaMobile.

Ahhh - search IS my friend - and this time my friend let me down!
I had searched and found nothing. I'll have to have a word with my "friend".
Thanks for the link. I checked it, but there it said it doesn't work.
Also, I noticed that Windows Mobile Device Center, has an option to sync favorites with the phone. Anyone know if that will do it? Or do I first have to import Firefox bookmarks into IE?

Well it worked for me!

Device centre will only sync your desktop IE with your pocket IE (NOT Opera Mobile... rather annoyingly).
I might be wrong on that tho... I have given up on Opera now in favour of PIE/PIE+, largely due to it's better rendering of forums like this (got fed up with fingerscrolling around to find page buttons and finger flick RSI for long pages.
Just as an aside, in Vista, the Opera6.adr file can be found at:
Code:
C:\Users\*name*\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera\Profile
Here's a method which works (and it's free):
1. go to www.xmarks.com, create an account and download their plugin for your browser. Xmarks supports IE, Firefox and Safari. I use this to sync all my bookmarks between my work and home pc and it works flawlessly. You can create profiles to sync only certain bookmarks between different pc's eg. you may not want your work stuff on your home pc etc.
2. On your mobile enter "mobile.xmarks.com", log in to your account and, bingo, you can access all your bookmarks. I just did this a few minutes ago and it was a doddle to set up.
Whilst you don't have your bookmarks living in your bookmarks folder on your phone you at least have easy access to them via xmarks - and they're always in sync. And you don't have to enter the data twice!

How to transfer opera bookmarks from HD to HD2???

Any idea how to transfer opera bookmarks from HD to HD2?
Usually on older opera versions there is a opera6.adr file in windows/opera9 folder. But not on HD2.
Anyone solved that? Thanks.

My best suggestion would be to use Microsoft Myphone, as it backs up your favourites, as well as contacts, texts, calender, notes, etc.
This might work with internet explorer favorits but I cannot find anything for opera bookmarks. Opera6.adr file has to be transfered to any other favorit folder that opera on hd2 can find it.
On my HD2 Opera uses Internet Explorer bookmarks it seems. I can add bookmark files to the windows/favorites folder and they show up in Opera. It don't even uses the opera6.adr file for bookmarks. I don't know if this is something new on the new Opera versions or why it is like this.
The opera6.adr file was used on Touch HD and Touch Diamond 2 with opera 9.5!
Now I want to transfer my bookmarks from "old" HD to new HD2!
I've come from a Touch HD where I used Opera as my browser and I backed up with Myphone. My HD2 automatically loaded those same bookmarks when I logged into Myphone. Try it mate. It works.
install opera 10 as your default browser and use opera link function... Yeah, rock..
Just use Opera Link.

I am interested also on transferring the opera bookmarks from "old HD" to HD2. I tried your suggestion, but when I checked the items backed up, they did not inlcude Opera (only explorer).
Has anybody found a solution to this problem - that works?

HD2– Internet Favorites' Library – how to rearrange it in windows' style?

In my PC the Internet Favorites' Library is arranged in a way that most of the links are stored in sub folders as according to the subfolder issue. That is to allow quick search among large number of stored links.
Regretfully after copying the favorites list to the HD2 – the HD2 will present all links in one long list.
So if you have 300 links, you have to roll it a lot till you reach link number 288That is frustrating and makes it not useful at all.
Is there any way to rearrange the HD2 Internet Favorites' library in windows style with subfolders?
Thank u all in advance.
You can use sub folders, but sadly when you open your favourites, the sub folders are displayed open.
Silly really, but it seems there is no specific fix just yet.
If you are using Opera, you can get the "old style bookmarkfolders" back by changing the value of "HKLM/Software/Opera/Info/UseOperaBookmark" of 0 to 1.
yea that opera one is a bit awkward, because opera doesnt get its bookmarks from the WMDC sync (the mobile favourites are synced with int exp on the pc as part of sync) and the manila tab favourites wont see the opera fav structure, only the synced one.
Solution ?
So maybe someone can take it as a challenge and create a solution for the benefit of all users?
Thank u all.
This is why I keep hoping Fennec will stop sucking; so I can transfer my Firefox bookmarks straight over.

heh, maybe yea, but then it becomes an extra task to perform regularly., and how about new favs created in opera? you gotta export them the other way too. Easy to forget, flash, gone.
(Doesn't affect me, lol i only have a dozen mobile favs, so i didnt look much deeper into the issue)

Any way to transfer Internet Faves from WinMo to Android?

I figure I may as well give myself a few full days in Android to have a proper play (I tend to drop back into WinMo when I want to do anything).
I find that (despite clicking "no"!) my contacts from the phone automatically got backed up to my gmail account so I have those available.
I use the (internet) favourites screen in WinMo sense and have then backed up to MS My Phone.
Is there any way to transfer/export my favourites from WinMo to my Android build please?
Also could you guys recommend a decent ebook reader to read by epub books from the sdcard?
Thanks
If I remember correctly I used active sync to sync favourites, these then appeared in ie under "mobile favourites". From there you can export them to a htm file, then I followed this guide with the following program on Android!
http://www.rerware.com/MyBookmarks/default.aspx
Sorry if it's a little vague, just trying to remember when I first did it in July after weeks of googling for a simple way! Hope this helps, if not I'll try retrace my steps but I'm pretty sure this is how I accomplished it!
Thanks. I will give it a try.
What do I enter for "device id"? The serial number?
You'll need to do that on android, open the program and it should give you one to enter online I think, then upload from your pc, then in the program import and it'll give you the choice of importing all or one by one should you want to be selective
You can do that with HTC Sync. Copy your favorites to your PC, and create a folder as you see on my screen.
HTC Sync will sync your favorites to the default browser.

He could only do that if flashing a sense build though right? Other method will work on any
I have a sense build - the Desire HD build.
Thanks all.
I have uploaded to that mybookmarks app.
Need to finish my novel [winmo ebook reader] first!
worked fine, thanks.
Now how can I get it so that when I click the Internet button on the homescreen it opens the bookmarks page so I can click on my faves rather than defaulting to the last page I was looking at?

Saving bookmarks

Good evening all.
I have a problem which is doing my head in and would be extremely grateful for your advice.
I have made different folders for my bookmarks and like to save them in specific folders. I can't, however, find a way of doing that when I save one - each time the bookmark is saved in the root folder. I have tried to move the bookmarks later after saving and I can't even do that. In frustration I actually logged in to my mobile account on my desktop and sorted out the bookmarks that way (I have 2 accounts - one for laptop and the other for my mobile/tablet) but surely there must be an easier way!
What browser?
You can move to a different folder in the stock browser by long pressing a bookmark and edit.
Our you on about something else?
Assuming you are talking about Internet bookmarks.
That is why I like Firefox for my web browser. I can use the Firefox sync to keep all my bookmarks synced between my devices and keep them organized in the folders I choose.
Thanks Irish Sid and Donec.
I am definitely talking about the stock browser. I have tried to edit the bookmarks but I just don't get any options of moving them to another folder. It will allow me to click on the 'location' link but when I go there, the only folder I see is the 'Home' folder.
I am very confused!!
