legend & flash 10.1 - Legend General

I know that adobe said itself that it won't get..but is there any chance that we can get it any way? flash on the legend will be awesome!

I do not think so..
I hope someone makes a way to make it work though someday

Excuse me but flash 10.1 will work on legend with froyo 2.2. Am I wrong?

I believe that the legends processor isn't powerful enough to run flash 10.1 but it is still in beta and will most likely run eventually.
However, given a few weeks I'm sure the modding community can make it work if it isn't supported out the door.

I saw a published test recently and the legend will be faster than the snap dragon processors because the screen resolution is less and therefore doesn't have to work as hard. So I doubt that is the reason flash won't work
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App

That might explain why my Legend seems to be faster than my colleague's Galaxy S.

Basically everywhere i see, everyone says that flash doesn't work..

I'm not saying it does work just the processor speed is not the cause

DUDE!!!!!
Like in other posts, you are very pessimistic. Chill out a bit and let the things come on their own.

Flash will definitely work.
With 2.2 froyo, the legends processor will be able to churn out rougly 8megaflops as per linpak testing.
This is higher than what a 1ghz snapdragon processor was doing in a nexus one in android 2.1 eclair.
Couple that with the lower resolution of the legend screen, the extra ram that will be freed up in 2.2, and flash will work peachy.

Adobe already announced that flash 10.1 requires a ARMv7 based cpu which we clearly don't have (legend: armv6).
The armv7 has an extended instruction set over the v6... they would have to make a whole new client for all the "older" cpu-s out there (without using the instructions that are not present in the v6, replacing them with slower ones), so we probably won't see any 10.1 from adobe.
Let's just hope that htc will make us something similar.

like i said earlier its the processor that is not capable so ram and speed tests don't matter. read below

I doubt it, because even though the OS is the same, the Incredible uses different hardware, is not labeled desirec, and has a different resolution then the Eris.

Thanks anyway, if it's true they can't use it.
Weren't the current Froyo ROMs ported from the Nexus? That's certainly no more similar to the Eris.
Sent from my FroyoEris using Tapatalk
I know that the hardware is different but so is every other device running Froyo (sanctioned from the manufacturer) but it has been adapted to work on the Eris. If I'm not mistaken though, this is the first Froyo ROM with sense and even though I don't like sense, it doesn't mean others don't want a sense based froyo rom.
Yes a sense based froyo rom would be pretty dang cool
Agreed!
Sent from my Eris using XDA App
It would be sweet that's why I bought my Eris for sense.
I'd be all over a Sense ROM with all the Sense widgets
I agree a froyo port would be very awesome.
If I understand correctly this is the state of froyo for the eris:
All the devices that have gotten froyo + sense have hdpi screen resolutions (http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html) while the eris has an mdpi screen resolution. To port you would have to scale down all the images (lots of them), plus some other tweaks to be able to run it on the eris. Last I read several people have tried to port it (I know Framework43 was trying to port it, and I think koas said he might try to port it). Right now it would be very hard to port, and we *most likely* will not get it until an mdpi device (such as the HTC Legend) gets froyo + sense.
From what I understand this should be beneficial for us getting full on Flash 10.1

Is the Legend on schedule to get Froyo? Or is it like the Eris where it's not been announced either way?
Well at least its got to make it a little easier to get flash on the Eris with Froyo. Even without the rest of Sense, I'd be ecstatic to see flash or even flash lite on Froyo.
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
Thanks for the interesting info, homewmt!
I don't think a Froyo Sense ROM would make it easier to get full Flash on the Eris. The fact of the matter is that Flash was written for the ARMv7 instruction set, and we run ARMv6.
The only reason it's been hacked into Sense based ROMs at all is because of Flash-lite. I don't even think Flash-lite will be a part of Froyo Sense deployments since manufacturers only seem concerned about ARMv7 devices getting the update, which all support official Flash.
I could be wrong about all of that, but I call 'em as I see 'em.
Sent from my ERIS using XDA App
I'm pretty sure Flash-lite just provided a way for the browser to call up Flash 10.1 after it was installed. The version of flash I use on eclair is still intended for only Arm7 and above. It runs slow on the Eris because it's Arm6, but it does run. Then again, maybe that's just my eternal optimism showing since I like everything else about Froyo better.

Probably the optimism thing.
Personally, I'm not all that jazzed about Flash. It's not REALLY a feature I ever had, so I haven't had a chance to miss it.
That's not to say that I wouldn't be stoked if someone was able to port it to ARMv6, because I would, but at this point, I don't really see it as a "feature" of Froyo.
Kaos and I are trying to port it. We have hit a roadblock for now, but we'll get it eventually.

HTC Froyo will be released on the European version of the Aria next month. With it, should come the new kernel source. That would be the ideal time to start looking at more kernel enhancements.

I'd like to know the CPU requirements for adequate 720p recording. I believe that the Aria should have no problem recording in HD resolution as long as it's overclocked to 800+ Mhz. I don't completely understand why the 720p Camera app is unable to be ported to the Aria, but it seems the future is bright for this little device.

i found this webcam app http://ip-webcam.appspot.com/ that uses different video sizes for a web cam.
it outputs 176x144 up to 1280x720 at 15fps.
does this mean it would be possible with right kernel to eventually get 720p video recording

Evo Shift Merge?

From what I know, the Shift is the Sprint Version of the HTC Merge(or the other way around). And, since there is no Merge forum I could find, I came here. Is it possible to oc the device to 1ghz? Or, is it like the G2, where 800mhz is enough? Also, does it happen to have 512 mb of ram and a ffc? If so, Im dumping my droid 2 for the merge(unlocked bootloader ftw!)
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA Premium App
you can overclock to 1.51 ghz with it rooted and it is very smooth and very fast i can say i had many applications in back ground and still managed to go on the web and it was very quick still and play games with no problem very smooth.
The shift can be oc to 1.8 my friend and the g2 can do 2.1
No ffc tho sorry
He's asking about the Merge, guys. It SHOULD be very similar to the Shift, but nobody knows for absolute certain until they can get their hands on it. For the record, the 800 Mhz processor did everything i asked of it and then some at stock speed, I only overclock it because I can

Anyone got their hands on an HTC Merge yet? Mines definitely great at 800 MHz, and there is nothing i have come across where i felt more clock speed would've been better, and that too on stock rom. This includes some of the heaviest games graphics-wise available on the market. But since its still not officially out, Im still running it on stock as I have no idea how to root it and load custom recovery. As soon as we get custom recovery on this it is a given the performance will increase a lot with custom roms.

Also, there seem to be few if any apps coming out requiring GB. That was not the case with Froyo - there were LOTS of changes to the API there and not being able to upgrade meant missing out on new apps. Nothing like that with GB so I don't mind sticking with Froyo for a bit of stability.

I honestly have to say I have try every single rom posted here in less then 2 months. For last I have seen lots of hype with Ginger CM7 and I went for it.
2 days pass and I downgraded again to Frojo 2.2 since I hated it that ginger, is buggy and there aint much I could do to get it popping like I can do with custom Frojo Roms.
So I will stick with Frojo until Ginger gets the support we have now for Frojo types.

the answer is obviously yes. sense 3 with 2.3.4 is gonna be stock on the mt4gslide so once thats leaked you best believe we will have it. granted the mt4g slide has dual core processor and 200 more ram, so it can handle a bit more, you best believe our phones can still handle it, it wont take much more to run 2.3.4 than 2.3.3 which the mt4g already handles with great speeds. so just give it a month or so before an official build leaks and we will have it.
Almost the only difference between 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 is the Google Framework.
You can just flash the latest one (which is integrated into most ROMs by now, all those supporting Gtalk video have to do it), and you'll get whatever you really need 2.3.4 for.

There's a command line you can enter in Terminal that says something about ~626, but that does not report total system RAM. I'm sure someone else can explain that better, but the MT4G does indeed have 768MB of total RAM.

You can't have it showing right - because currently the Gtalk app was only built and adjusted for Nexus S, and was hacked to work on other phones. As such, it's not adjusted properly to be running on all the phones with different camera libs, and that includes Sense camera libs. Sense ROMs with 2.3.4 will cure it, if they'll have Talk app - which they might not.

Even when I had the Nexus S if your phone wasn't on stock you still had to find a work around to getting video chat to work on g-talk, then there was the issue of having it work on 3G and not just wifi.
