Here is a video of a Samsung Wave (Bada platform) with a Samsung App that controls your TV.
You think Galaxy S might have something similar?

The SGS was supposed to launch with the same app but it's nowhere to be found. If you go to the SGS apps section there's a thread where we are talking about the missing apps from the adverts.
is there a third party app to use as a Tv Remote?
Tachikoma_kun is correct.
The thread you need to look at is listed here.

There is a free android app for verizon fios that allows dvr programming... but there is also one called 'fios mobile remote' that allows actual control of the tv while watching it, and throwing pictures from your phone to the tv screen at any time.
I love FiOS, and have had it since it came here. Controlling my TV with my Android phone would be great.
Can someone tell me how to spoof this app or unlock it or something? There is mysteriously zero info on an update for the app to include DI, and it's not a Motorola thing because the HTC Imagio can do the same thing for WM.
I didn't even know this app existed, and couldn't find it on the market. Does Verizon make this as well, or is it from a third party developer?
yes. i doubt verizon developed the app, but they released it. It's called "Fios Mobile Remote", and I found and even downloaded it from the Market. search verizon. Anyways it gives a pop up that says this application is exclusive the the MotoDroid.
However... Windows Mobile has the same app, and it's for the HTC Imagio.
I want this app to work. I know it can, its not exclusive to one hardware maker or another. It uses Wifi to communicate. And it's one of those things that when someone goes hey what kind of phone do you have? The Incredible? Isn't an IPhone better?
And I say nope. Can an Iphone do this? change channel. Or this? Throw a pic up.
i vote for a att uverse application. though i know unlikely on a verizon phone. would be hella cool. since i get my uverse complimentary with my rent check.
So i'm about to buy a tv with samsungs ''AllShare'' function. i just wanted to know if anyone here has it and knows if it works with ours xperia x10 and is it fast/slow or any good. Thanks!
Unless you have allshare app install in your X10. If not, its not going to happen.
Only Samsung phones are pre loaded with allshare app.
For those with one of the newer Samsung Smart TV’s there no S3 compatible versions of the Samsung Remote or Samsung Smart View apps on Play, which I used a lot on my S1, and apparently we’ll have to wait until late summer for an update to get Allshare Cast working directly with these TV's. It’s a bit of a disappointment. I’m sure updates will arrive eventually, but it’s a shame the phone’s not feature complete at launch.

Yes, I wonder if it has something to do with the WiFi chipset or Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS)? I used to run the Samsung remote app on all of my phones, but I noticed my HTC EVO 4G LTE (basically the One X with MicroSD and kickstand) is not compatible with either of the newer Samsung apps.
I guess I will keep my OG Samsung Epic around for QWERTY remote duties.
I got smart view to work on my galaxy S3, but I used the titanium backup from my galaxy S2
no idea what fixed it, haven't got it running on my gf's S3 yet...
Actually, I tore apart the Samsung remote apps to take a peek as I'm an Android Developer.
Anyone who does Android Dev will appreciate what I have to say next:.
The remote app consists of almost a 100 layouts all written using Absolute Layout, at best, the remote doesn't align on the screen buttons overlap etc, at worst, it crashes on startup from bitmap allocations exceeding the VM heap. Which is what happens on the S3..
Samsung got some really sh*t devs to write the remote and I've already emailed offering to rewrite it lol, but alas, the email, via the market url probably went direct to those devs.
I did get it working on my note by rewriting a few of the layouts but got bored after about 20.

That sucks!
guess ill be using my galaxy tab 2 7 inch then instead
does anyone have issues with using the Allshare Cast/Play?
My samsung tv recognizes my s3/comp but when i attempt to open the internal storage music or video folders, my tv freezes. idk what the issue is.
Pls change the title, there is still dlna and mhl.

I just dl`ed the samsung smart view .apk after googling a while to find it.
It is version 3.2.0 and it works 100% for my samsung bluray player BD-E8300. Both the smart view and the remote control. I just dont see why samsung wont release it officially via the app store.
Is samygo an option for your tv? Just the remote or remote and hacked tv.
Fully working version 3.2.0

There is a version on play store released recently, that's compatible with sgs3.
Including working dual view feature for high end tv and bluray.
Note 2 not supported still. If you force install, like restoring sgs3 titanium backup, dual view does not work, but remote does. This artificial prohibition started with 3.2.1. So 3.2.0 works for both sgs3 and sn2, while latest works fully only for sgs3.
SmartView 3.2.2

Hi guys
I wanted to know if anyone can port the Media Remote App that comes with the new Xperia Tablet S to the Note 10.1. I really like the features that the Tablet S has to offer in terms of the remote. Since both the tablets have an IR blaster, can this be made possible??
And how good is the Peel Remote given by Samsung??
If it has already been ported, can you kindly post the link here???
Not sure if that works!
Sony might have a different IR sensor. So different drivers nessesary.
IMHO Peel sucks! A: Needs online for new Remote (okay... you're always on newset source...) B: doesn't work with my Denon Audio... On/Off does, nothing else. And Humax isn't even supported!
TouchSquid might be nice. But only ON/OFF in free version! and i don't really want to pay 40$ ....
P.S Seems like Samsung gave to code to their IR transmitter, Sony didn't!
Sony's app is available on the play store. I have it on my tablet.

It is on the Play Store but it looks like that version only supports WiFi, no IR.

The only one that i found on the play store is the one which is used to control the Bravia series and the Sony BluRay players. I didnt find the one that sony is using in its new tablet. That one IMHO is KICK ASS AWESOME.
If any developers who have the new Tablet S, can you try to get the code from it and the apk to work in this???
@moderator: can this be put in the android development forum???
Has anyone used a Galaxy Gear with their Google Play Edition S4 running 4.4? I'm interested in getting one, but I can't find the Gear app in the Play Store (I only found "Samsung GALAXY NFC Tagwriter") and I've not been able to find anything that tells me one way or the other if it will work with the Google Play Edition of the S4. Looks too iffy to drop $300 without a better chance of success.
Thanks!

I downloaded the manual for the Gear and it says:
The Charging Cradle contains an embedded TecTile that is used in conjunction with your smartphone’s NFC technology to both acquire the Gear Manager application and aid in automatically pairing the two devices.

So I guess that explains why I can't find the app in the Play Store. It would still be nice to know if anyone with a GPE S4 has been able to use the Gear with success or not.
Thanks!
yes its very frustrating, the Gear uses "gear Manager" which is a Samsung App from their store.
you can install the Gear stubb and the gear manager manually but there is things not working correctly like notifications, I have been searching for weeks for a solution, Devs are you able to include it as part of your Roms?
