360 rotation - Droid Eris Android Development

Do Ivans or ELB have this? Can it be added?

ELB 2.7 does. I've been using it for a few days and I'm still not sure if I like it. You can also do 180 and 270 rotation.

anyone know about Ivanmmj? Or better, can I add 360 rotation to it? Lastly.. what exactly does it mean to do a "clean wipe"...

Is there a patch or flash for this for any rooted rom?

Reboot phone into Recovery, choose the "Wipe..." option. You'll get a sub-menu then. Pick option # 1 (can't remember what it reads) and option # 2, which I think is the "Dalvik cache" wipe option.

Thank you for that, now just to nail down this rotation thing

This new kernel is a complete rewrite of the app. The functionality is now fully automatic and no longer requires a separate app. The team has said they do plan on releasing an App to allow those who wish to tinker with settings to do so, but otherwise, a seperate app is unneeded. Gone are the daemon downloader loops.
More indepth information is available here:
http://www.androidcentral.com/android-central-exclusive-hdmwin-gingerbread-first-look
How long did it take you to perfect HDMwIn for Gingerbread?
I've spent over 100 hours getting all the little details right and all the algorithms working smoothly. I anticipate another 10-20 hours until all the wrinkles are fixed.
So HDMI just outputs on its own? The user doesn't need to do anything?
Exactly. The user plugs in the HDMI cable, and it just works. The user is welcome to make adjustments via the UI, but there's generally no need. But there will always be someone who is fussy and wants it to lock rotation, change scaling or modify the overscan defaults.
Did there not used to be auto-rotation? And does auto-rotation work for everything? I noticed it worked in both Nova and the YouTube app.
There was a rudimentary version of auto-rotation in old builds, but that required the UI to read the sensors. This consumed massive amounts of battery, and performed poorly. This new method requires no extra power, and offers a smoother experience to the user. Any application which natively handles rotation (either fixed, like Nova, or dynamic, like Messages) will work out-of-the-box. As for YouTube, YouTube isn't mirroring. It uses native HDMI support for Gallery videos and YouTube videos. That was one of the great new features. You no longer need to disable mirroring to use YouTube. It switches automatically.
You mentioned there's now YouTube app support. Is there also support for videos played in the browser app?
Only the YouTube app and Gallery app support HDMI out-of-the-box from HTC. So when those apps run, you'll have different output on your TV from your device. If you're playing video (or anything else) on the device in a player which doesn't natively handle the EVO's HDMI port, you'll get full mirroring. If the app is HDMI-aware, you'll get the app's intended behavior.
Are there any performance enhancements in the new HDMwIn? How are the scrolling speeds compared to the previous version?
We're using the same "Silky Johnson" technology which drove our previous accelerated kernels, so we're seeing the same smooth responsiveness and performance. Because we now do aspect scaling a little more accurately, it's possible the GPU isn't quite as taxed as before, but we haven't felt a noticeable difference. The device no longer has a polling loop running in the background, so that helps battery life and performance as well.
You mentioned there's a custom kernel involved. What kind of features does this kernal support? Are other kernals supported?
I always build our new features directly on top of the HTC kernels. Once we release the kernel and source code, we work with other kernel developers to get our code integrated into their kernels. This kernel has all the latest EDID fixes (for people who would plug in a TV and have the phone immediately crash) as well as the HDMI mirroring.

Warning!!
The kernel has been released on Kernel Manager. This is a free app available on Android Market. Before installing this kernel, please nandroid your phone. This is an alpha kernel. There may be instabilities and other issues. Be aware that installing this kernel will override any other custom/stock kernel you may have installed. You will lose the abilities of those kernels (such as overclocking, HAVs, etc.). This requires root. Do NOT use this kernel with an ASOP rom (MIUI, CM7, etc.). An ASOP version is coming according to the devs.
How to install:
Apparently, kernel manager has issues with the HDMwIn kernel, so please flash from recovery manually instead.
- Run Kernel Manager and approve the superuser request.
- Press menu and select 'Advanced Options'. Ensure 'Flash automatically' isn't checked.
- Select Load Kernel List.
- Scroll to the bottom of the list.
- Select PoonSense 2.3.3.
- Press Download + Flash Kernel.
- Using a file manager, navigate to root of SD card. sdcard/kernel-manager/agrabren contains a .zip file callled "2.3.3-1-793-HDMwIn-Sense233-Alpha-signed.zip". That file is also attached to this thread.
- Move that .zip file to the root of your SD
- Reboot into recovery
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache.
- Flash the .zip file.
- Reboot
- Enjoy HDMwIn.
Also, agrabren has updated his kernel due users having issues with blank screens. If you guys are having issues, please use his newest kernel: build 793. That version is now available on Kernel Manager and attached to this thread.

Old method of install. Causes Wifi errors and other bugs, use alternative method above.
Code:
[B]How to install:[/B]
- Install Kernel Manager from Market
- Run Kernel Manager and approve the superuser request.
- Press menu and select 'Advanced Options'. Ensure 'Clear Cache' and 'Clear Dalvik Cache' are checked.
- Select Load Kernel List.
- Scroll to the bottom of the list.
- Select PoonSense 2.3.3.
- Press Download+ Flash Kernel.
- After the reboot, enjoy HDMI mirroring. There is no app to start or configure. It just works now. Plug in an HDMI cable and you are good to go.
Excellent! Can't wait to try... of course I just lost my HDMI cable

Since I didn't hear an answer on this, I downloaded the kernel from Kernel Manager (poonsense 2.3.3) made a backup of Synergy RC2+Godmode. Flash was sucessful, ROM booted with no problems. When I get home in 4 hours I will hook up my HDMI cable and test functionality.
Is anybody having WIFI problems after flashing? I flashed last night, this morning I get "Error" under Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> WiFi (the word Error is right below the word Wi-Fi; attempting to click the checkbox does nothing. It stays unchecked).
Might be a coincidence, as I was also updating my GPS driver last night as well.

This will happen if you flash the new kernel through kernel manager. All you have to do is flash the kernel manually and everything *should* work fine.
Go into recovery, clear cache and delvik. Then go to flash file from sd, scroll to the folder called kernel manager, then open the agrabren folder and there will be the flashable zip. Note, this only works if you have already downloaded the file through kernel manager. Otherwise you will have to find the zip file in the dev area. I will include a link soon to the zip.
Find the link here... Second post down (I think)...

P.S. Always Nandroid Backup prior to any flashing... I am no pro, this is simply the method that worked for me.
I hope this helps, it worked for me the exact same way on all 3 of my EVO's.
Thanks to agrabren and all who contributed, this is one amazing piece of work!! Everything works flawless!

I didnt use Kernel Manager to flash it, I downloaded the kernel, booted to Ra Recovery, backed up my current ROM, then wiped Cache 3x, and Dalvik 3x, then i manually flashed the zip via install zip from SD Card, and my WiFi still errors out. So what you said is irrelevant to the issue. I appreciate your attempt to try and fix it, but the fix is not a fix.

I downloaded and flashed the kernel at 2:05pm today, the Kernel I flashed was
2.3.3-1-793-HDMwIn-Sense233-Alpha-signed.zip
Which after looking is the kernel you have attached to the OP. So that won't do it. I do believe this kernel is incompatible with Synergy+Godmode. But for the Dev's sake here is my logcat.

Not saying who is right or wrong for sure, but my wifi also did not work after flashing this from kernel manager. I wiped from recovery (dalvik and cache), and then flashed the zip from within TWRP, rebooted and everything was fixed. So for me the fix was a fix.

I'm assuming you mean kernel when you say radio cause otherwise, you are flashing the wrong thing.
If you are still having wifi issues after flashing the latest kernel, try using the fix from here:

That will rewrite your broken wifi driver and hopefully fix that issue.

Use button savior from the market...it won't change button mapping, however it gives you onscreen buttons..
There's an app in the market that changes hardware keys but I can't remember the name of it for the life of me... Go try soft keys (in the market) though it'll give you home, menu and other buttons on your screen

2. How do you lock the screen? Is it only to be locked with POWER button. I use third party screen lock app tied up with long press search button which is not working here as this function is tagged with camera. Any alternative for screen lock?

I installed this rom yesterday from the chinese sources, you don't need all the 6 patches. There are 5 update patches and the 6th is the one you need, this is the final patch that includes ALL the other ones (20130101_U8800Pro-MIUI2.3.7 by FCS fix 20130104-12_update.zip)
to OP:There are 4 other files that came with the rom and i don't see them in the post. They are Sakura's Atmel screen fix, geno's gapps, flash player for this rom and the new miui compass that was not included in the original rom.If you don't have them tell me to upload them
If you want to put power button to search button go with root explorer to system/usr/keylayout open qwerty.kl with text editor, find key 217 and change it from ''CAMERA'' to ''POWER' and in the same line from ''WAKE DROPPED'' to ''WAKE'' .Save and reboot. Now pressing the search button closes the screen, long pressing it brings up the power menu.
People this is the best MIUI so far and the latest one with final release date 14/1/2013,Everything works. This is a special rom started by Geno, then Hay modded it,then Ry09iu modded it farther and lastly Sakura combined the mods of all of them together with his own and released this amazing rom.you got to try it

please OP add these to the first post because there will be confusion!

Great post. Very supportive.
I agree to you with first point. Five patches replaced by one single patch and I am using the same.
I will surely try your method OF search key lock /power button. I will surely try that.
Lately there are four more files of which I am using the gapps lite. My touch screen send to be working ok and I have not flashed the atmel kernel mod. BTW how to know whether I have a ATMEL or SYNAPTICS hardware?
Lastly waiting for Your English version apks.
Great ROM. Dream of similar JB ROM.
Thank you.

On your phone dialer you dial *#*#2846579#*#*
A menu will appear, then you go to project menu->upgrade->touchscreen firmware upgrade->touch screen version query and it will show you if it is ATMEL or SYNAPTICS.
Be aware however that this menu does not appear on all custom roms. For example in CM7 if you try it, nothing will happen.
For what is this FIX?
For me the 4 button does not lighting

That fix improves speed, stability, adds V6 SuperCharger script, improves power saving, etc.
No button backligt is not a bug, but you can "fix" it by doing this:
Download any root exploring app, go to sys>class>leds>button-backlight> edit it like text, and write 255>save it

Yes,I tried it too on MIUI but like CM7 it doesnt work in these roms. It works on official/stock rom 100%, i checked it on my official rom before installing this MIUI.
If you have a recovery backup of the stock/official rom you can restore the official rom and try it there, it will work there 100%.
Which kernel to b flashed for this Rom?

FAQ'S
Q.Can I use this rom on tmo/Canadian variants?
A.This rom is made for the N9005, @fahadali2315 doesn't support other variants, He ONLY supports the N9005. However a user made a fix to get the things that work by default to work on tmo/Canadian variants. Read the "How to get N9005 roms to work on N900T(Tmo) & N900W8(Canadian) Variants" guide for step by step instructions BUT use the fix that i am linking below.

Q.Why does the installation fail when I try flashing this rom?
A2.Use latest philz recovery (recommended at ROM thread OP), other recoveries might not be able to flash this rom.
A2. v2.5 comes with Aroma Installer, I personally choose Chenglu CWM as it will handle Aroma better.
Q.Why is deep sleep not working?
A1. Deep sleep only works with the 2 NE6 kernels, 1 that comes with the rom and other that @fahadali2315 posted.
A2. Latest updated / tested : Aurora kernel is a good match to this X-Note S5 Ported ROM. Thanks @MojoManagement for the good kernel
Q.Can I use s5 kernels?
A.You can but they break the camera. So better to use n9005/n900t kernels instead.
Q.Why is sview not working?
A1.

A2. Sview is working on v2.5. If you use custom DPI, you will need to set the DPI for sviewcover to 480 with Xposed app setting module, save, and reboot your device.
Q.Why do I get "file not found" when I click on live wallpapers?
A.Live wallpapers are not included.
Q.My wifi is not working?
A1.Wait about a minute or so on setupwixard and it will turn on.
A2.Flash a different kernel.
A3. On v.2.3 & up, WiFi is working perfectly
Q.My mobile data doesnt work?
A1.Set APN from your provider manually.
A2. If A1 can't fix your device, try to go the APN, change the bearer to LTE, and then Save. Your mobile data should be working.
A3. If A1 & A2 still can't fix your device mobile data, your last resort is to flash FIX for National Roaming. Thanks to @Mroczny3 for the fix.
Q.I can't seem to enable recent apps?
A.Use gravitybox xposed/ Navigations Keys Actions set anyone u like to show Recent apps. (Task Switcher)
Q.I modified dpi and now my sview is messed up, what should I do?
A.Use app settings xposed module and set sview dpi to 480.
Q.I have HealthService Error popup?
A.Update Shealth to latest version from Samsung apps.
Q.XTransformer doesn't reboot in this port?
A.Just Set your dpi, and click on reboot button wait until it shows reboot in the TOAST. Then Reboot your phone from PowerMenu manually.
Q.Xnote App doesnt auto Reboot?
A.Some technical glitches ... do what you want to do like changing keyboard and then reboot manually from the PowerMenu.
Q.I cannot find my clock?
A.You have to set the color to white of the clock from XNOTE APP.
Q.Which Kernel is good for port ?
A1.It comes with Stock. But i personally use Wootever.
A2. Now our N9005 has a good kernel AURORA. I personally use this one, and is really good in deep sleep.
Q.I dont have all the toggles in my quicksettings like xnote and shootit?
A.Go to xnote app, Extras , Additional Script and run Enable All Toggles Script . Reboot Manually.
Q. I have 2 clocks in status bar, one in center and one on right side???
A. Disable one from gravitybox or xnote
Q. Why is my home button is not waking up my phone ?
A. Go to X-Note App/Extras/X-Note Custom Mods and Check/Uncheck Home Button wake and restart SystemUI.
Q. Why is my restart menu is not showing up ?
A. Go to X-Note App/Extras/X-Note Custom Mods and Check/Uncheck Restart Options Elements.
Q. How to Hide CPU Widget in StatusBar
A. Go to X-Note App/Extras/X-Note Custom Mods and Show/Hide CPU Widget in Other StatusBar Elements and restart SystemUI.
Q.How to use stock battery?
A.Not been tested myself but try.
Delete X-battery.apk and use xblast/wanam to put on the original battery. Should work on older versions
Not sure about v14.
Q. Having some weird reflection/shadow under the date/time? SOLUTION ?
A. This is the Network Speed indicator and the problem occurs if you are using any xposed modules (Wanam) . So either switch off the indicator by going to Xnote control app >> Extras >> StatusBar Mods or disabling the xposed module.
Q. Logs in phone doesn't fully show up ( top part is missing)
A. gravity box, search for the option to hide the menu overflow it happens with navbar enabled.

Enable on-screen NavBar on Stock ROOTed Nougat? A2017U

Any way to enable the onscreen navbar on Nougat?

qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Click to collapse
But had no luck after reboot either way.
Any way to enable them?
It didn't work in MM because ZTE took the on screen buttons out of the framework, rather than just from the build.prop line.
I'm guessing they did the same thing in N.
needs more than just build.prop to enable on-screen key......i'll be releasing Dmix7_N (Stock Base) but on-screen keys will be disabled by default via build.prop and re-enable via build.prop
That's odd cause when I went from lineage back to stock the nav bar followed. Full wipe, full stock zip.
I have on screen working but capacitive buttons still work as well. Does anyone know of a way to turn capacitive buttons completely off and only use on screen?

That's really weird, mine didn't have that? Only thing I had under "Navigation Keys" was the ability to swap them but not display them on screen?
I did, however, flash the vR26 Permissive kernel, and that automatically enabled the onscreen buttons......It also made Nougat much smoother
I'm running the B15 from DrakenFX.

Been meaning to reply to this with a screenshot from "stock rooted".. There is no option to "Always show navigation bar" in stock. Not sure if DrakenFX added that, or what?
I do know the Beast Mode Permissive kernel will enable them, and I used it for a couple weeks, but while that kernel is really smooth and I had my on-screen navbar.... My battery took a fairly huge hit, and my stock camera didn't work. So I reverted back to pure, rooted, stock.
Bumping. I want to go back to the latest stock but I won't do it without onscreen nav buttons.

Fairly easy.
When rooted open build.prop (system/)
Change ro.config.navkeys=1 to 0 (ZTE kept it by default to 1 so you don't see the setting)
Leave qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 like it is
Save, restart and you'll have your enabled nav bar on stock devices.
Btw, you can disable it through settings so you can, if you want, swype down to not see it anymore.

First do check in settings/features/navigation keys/check always ON wether it works (you can disable it afterwards by putting it on "OFF" and have the possibility to swype up or down afterwards)
Second, try swype upwards from the bottom to see the navbar.
Check also if qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 is still 0.
It should work because these are simple build.prop scripts, so test out :good:

Thanks, I double checked qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 is still 0.
Navigation menu doesn't have any new option.
Tried to swipe up and down as well, nothing

Thanks for trying to figure this out with me. I really appreciate it.
I have a U version but I'm actually using your [ROM][AROMA][A2017G][B08 7.1.1.][stock] SL!M³ DF!NR. I'm tempting to checkout ur [ROM][AROMA][A2017][V2.0.0B13 M!Favor 5.0 / 7.1.1.][stock] SL!M DF!NR to see if it makes any difference.
This is my build.prop

No problem. We're here to help each other out :good:
I'll give a look at your build.prop later on.
But do try the Mifavor 5.0. As I'm not mistaken, the option is built in too. So nothing to change there. And this rom is quite smooth, fast and without force closes. Perhaps try it and let me know.
Tomorrow I'll take a look at your file.

Looked into your build.prop and all should be ok. And since you installed the SLIM³ all files such as framework-res.apk and systemui.apk are overwritten in case the U models files could have been different. But as said, with all these files and your build.prop the nav bar should show up....
So for the moment i do not see an immediate solution for that matter.
As said and afaik , the Mifavor 5.0 from my rom has this nav bar build in
