Anybody using Pleco on the HD Mini?
How does it work with the capacitive screen?
Can you manage to finger write characters into the small box?
Can you operate the QWERTY keyboard without too many errors?
I now have a Diamond and Pleco works very well with a pen. But no way you could use finger, just wonder if HD Mini can be operated at all before I buy one (or not, then I go for Touch 2).

outlines an approach to multi touch on the adroid
if it's possible to re-write the touch drivers it might be possible on the hd
it works along the lines that it can work out the size of the circle the multi touch (2 fingers)
defines... thus it's radius and hence the releative distance.
so maybe pinch could be implemented

Doubt it, the G1 has the same screen type as the iPhone, the touch HD doesnt. Personally i much prefer the gesture and double tap the HD uses because its a one handed operation, multi touch is 2 handed or requires the phone to be placed on a surface. Its VERY over rated.
The HD uses a resistive touch screen, which makes multi-touch impossible sadly - it does give the screen the advantage of being able to be used with a stylus however - which you can't do with the iPhone or G1.
There are some gestures, such as zooming which lends quite well to multi-touch support, but I don't really miss them. I'm on the same boat as rovex in that area - it's a nice idea, but over rated.

It is not true multitouch, it's a dirty hack. I think it could be possible to develop applications using hack of this sort, but is there any real use of it besides a demo that shows this hack?

Provided that it is properly released in some sort of broader API package, it can be useful.
However I don't think that's going to happen, unless MS itself puts it in WM6.5 or even 7 (maybe as part of a "WM DirectX"?).
But imagine - WM applications that can run on both resistive and capacitive screens in a similar way.. Now that would be nice!
Hi all.
I have been using the phone for around 3months. I upgraded from Nokia E71. Here are some of my concerns.
1. On HTC HD, Opera mini 4.2 doesn't support flash menu on web sites. Why not? Nokia E71 had Opera mini 4.2 and it supports flash menu. I don't use Opera mobile because it's just too darn slow compare to mini.
2. Is there anyway I can turn off automatic pop up on virtual keyboards?
3. Is there any virtual keypads(up, down, left, right only) that stays always on top that I can orientate and position on the screen? I find having no Dpads on this phone pain in the butt, especially if you can't use stylus.
4. Is there anyway I can manually orientate screen? I would want to have it at fixed landscape for everything except when I use Phone functions and Garmin Mobile XT.
Thanks.
How is the use of pocket Excel with touch only LEO?
With regular touch screen I use the old "Keyboard" and a stylus and it works ok. With new touch-only keyboard I found EXTREMELY difficult to use pocket Excel.
How is it with the new Leo?
i think you need to try an apple iphone's stylus with hd2
Hello,
Can someone confirm that Iphone stylus also works with HD2?
Yes, there are several different iphone/capacitive stylii on ebay, they should all work - but how well they'll work, there's only one way to find out...
I didn't have a problem in Excel. The Pinch to Zoom works, so I just zoomed in if needed. The only annoying thing is that I can't seem to get landscape to work in any of the mobile office programs.
OK, this is going to sound weird, but i have a Touch Diamond, and a Touch Pro. The Diamond is my daily driver since it works better (some problems with the TP), but I do like to use emulators, but the capacitive d-pad is RUBBISH for gaming. What I'm wanting to do is find a program or something for my TP that will allow it to emulate a generic bluetooth keyboard, so I can use the Touch Pro keyboard to type/as game input on my Diamond.
Thanks.
