Anyone Know Why? Would a reinstall work?
Ive got version 1.56.30.7625.t100 of Swype
Thanks as always in advance
i have the same issue. it said its because this version of swpe is not on the device it was for that it is operating on limited capabilities. also to note the swype installer has a limit on the amount of times you can download swype before it cuts you off.

I woke up one morning, and my keyboard and the other buttons had stopped working, and som buttons got some new (wrong) functions.
And when im in the file explorer menu, i can't click on anything, and that also happens in the messages menu.
Someone know what the problem might be? Tried to to a hard reset, and the problems are still there.
(sorry for my bad(?) english)

I was wondering if anyone could port the multi touch keyboard from the droid X to the eris. if you try the one for the incredible and the droid, it installs but wont open up after changing input method. If you can tell me how to port it, i could also do it myself
seriously nobody even cares to aknowledge this post? i know you all want the keyboard!

Well, i unzipped the apk, and tried looking for an obvious way of changing the resolution of the keyboard (Which im assuming is the problem), but none of the files contain any info of the sort. So im guessing that the "porter" would have to go into every file, and basically recompile the whole thing for the lower res. But im no dev, so i could be wrong!

Seeing as it's multitouch, maybe it lets you hit more than one key at once without screwing up...

it works great, i have been using it since yesterday.
It's very accurate too, i haven't had problems like hitting the wrong letters.
Edit: after further investigation, it seems it is not multitouch, however, I'm not sure of the benefits of this already sleek keyboard would gain through multitouch.
Not sure what you mean multitouch works fine for me. You can hit shift and still type letters in capital without issue. Using this and keeping swype around too as it works great.

I don't think this works for any Cyanogen based ROMs. I am running the one by framework and neither flashing in recovery or installing the .apk via file manager seems to work.

It's compatible with a stock nonroot eris, which leads me to believe it works on nearly anything because all the required apks are built in, but it should just work by installing it and enabling it in the languages and keyboards setting. If not then

i have a non root eris and this keyboard works fine. It is better designed and has a larger space bar. so i'm not hitting the period key by mistake anymore.
How is the speech-to-text function on this keyboard? Is it accurate?

I just tested it, seems pretty accurate
speech to text is good.
this keyboard has no perceivable lag at all. it keeps up with my typing and I am making less mistakes as a result.

This keyboard is awesome. Managed to get me off of Swype. Has little to no lag. Reminds me of the iPod/iPhone keyboard, which is a good thing.

Not sure of this is helpful but I find smart keyboard pro (market) far superior to the stock keyboard although it still looks like stock.

I hope this gets figured out
You can turn swype off by changing the input mode. Just go into a spot where you can enter a message, do a long press, and then click on the input button. Its not the same keyboard as on the G2, but I prefer it to the swype keyboard.
I have the smart keyboard pro app and have it turned off. Mine makes me hit done then send when trying to send a message, and I'd rather not have the extra keystroke.
Sorry for not knowing: but is there a reason it doesn't work when you simply side-load the stock 2.2 keyboard? Appmonster shows that it installed, but I cannot load the keyboard at all.
Any ideas?
i've searched for an answer to this question but most keyboard problems i've come across deal with the entire keyboard freezing or lagging and usually changing settings like pop ups and autocomplete resolve the issue.
my problem deals with individual keys freezing. when this happens, the rest of the keyboard functions as normal. usually closing and reopeneing the keyboard or pressing other keys will fix it but that's really annoying to have to do. the delete key and space key freeze the most but i've experienced it with just about every key. i've tried every different keyboard in the market and tried changing keyboard settings but the problem persists. i don't know where else to turn so i decided i would ask on here.
i posted this in a dev thread earlier because i originally thought it was a rom issue, but the issue has repeated on several different roms and other people have confirmed that they're experiencing the same problem. i'm not sure how widespread it is, but it's definitely something that i think needs to be addressed.
i'll appreciate any response so thanks for any help in advance
If it is across all the keyboards you try, maybe it is something with your screen? I had similar issues with my phone, where if I would have two fingers touching the keyboard on different keys, it would flip out, and sometimes lag. I am currently using the HTC_IME keyboard and I no longer have issues. Btw my phone is an optimus v. Hope I helped. Cheers.

I have the same exact problem. And you're right on, my delete key will stop responding a lot of time. Especially when I long press it to delete words quickly.
I have used like 5 different keyboards with the same problem. This happens to every ROM EXCEPT Royal Ginger 2.1
And I have no idea why RG2.1 is the only cure...

thanks for the quick response. and yeah i'm beginning to think it might be screen issue. if i unroot it and return it to stock and it still happens would t-mobile or htc replace it?
also, is the HTC_IME just the stock HTC keyboard?

thanks man, i might have to try out RG2.1. i used MIUI 1.7.15 for about two weeks without any problems and thought i found the fix but it eventually started doing it again.

They might replace it, but I wouldn't count on it. They'd probably factory reset it to see if that works. HTC_IME is a modded keyboard found here on XDA, it is highly themeable, but I use it for its precision and its multitouch functionality.

Since you are running HTC sense, you need not install clicker.

While there are modded versions of HTC_IME out there (such as jonasl's), HTC_IME is also the name of the stock keyboard that comes with all Sense/mySense ROMs.

My swype keyboard was starting to act weird and I deleted the swype apk. Can any kind hearted soul upload the following:
1. Swype apk (located in system/app)
2. libSwypecore.so (loacted in /system/lib)
3. com.swype.android.inputmethod (loacted in root: data/data/com.swype.android.inputmethod/)
Thanks.

Have tried that but it fails to install. The official swype beta says that the Samsung GT 7.7 is not a phone, thus rendering the download code generated after all the effort of registering in their website a waste of time. Right now, I am using Touchpal... it's butter smooth and free on play store. I am quite happy. But I do miss the shortcuts provided by stock swype in our beloved 7.7.
I have even done a factory reset to see if the swype keyboard comes back but it doesn't.
