Good video for the benchmarks. Devs here add untold value to the Evo though (30fps cap already taken care of).
I am glad the bar keeps being set higher. I need something to convince me to buy a new phone when my contract is up in October and graduate the Evo to my girlfriend. =)

Yea but all this has already been done without even have source code for our phone imagine what will be done once that's released
Plus if I where you I would hold off till a tegra2 Android phone is released they'll make the Droid x and the galaxy look like nothing compared to it
Even with the source released, the Droid X will beat out the EVO... The EVO doesn't have a dedicated graphics chip, rather an integrated one.
The Adreno has a lot more power to it than is being used... but don't hold your breath on HTC ever tapping the OpenGL ES 2.0 capabilities of the device and thus increasing performance...
This is sad...makes me want to take my Evo back.

What's the point? You'll pay Verizon a hell of a lot more money for less service - lose the ability to have 4G - and Verizon is talking about capping data just like at&t has recently done...
Its not like there are that many games out there that can take advantage of the hardware in the EVO anyway.

I felt the same, but then I sat down and thought a bit. Sure, if I want the most ridiculous benchmark munching phone out there I would return my Evo in a heartbeat and crack open a couple piggy banks to go on Verizon to get the Droid x, but honestly, I tried the uncapped Evo out, and holy mother Jesus God it does everything I need to at lightning speed.
One thing I should mention is that I don't play games on my Evo. iPod Touch for that.
Droid X for me is overkill and it costs a huge wad more money. If you wish to always have the best phone out there, it is going to cost an arm, a leg, and then some. I think Evo is good enough for someone who just got off an enV2. Makes my old phone look like a sundial.
Don't forget Verizon's 350 dollar ETF either...
The Droid X is undoubtedly nice, but I couldn't imagine having a phone that isn't seriously backed by the XDA community. And the Evo plays all the games I want to play fine, even with the cap. I'm running the t2 kernel now, the phone flies with the latest DC ROM.
Our phone may not be the best at everything, but it's a damn nice phone on a good network at a great price. You can't enjoy the phone if all you're doing is looking at others.
an uncapped evo can play any game out right now so i dont see the big deal..and cappable of playing nfss(pre loaded on droid x) they did demo the game on evo 1st..until htc capped it so they decided to release it with droid x instead..i mean come on its not like there is a crysis type game graphic wise that will require dedicated graphic cards
I take what I said back. I think the video I downloaded had an issue because I just watched another source of the same clip and holy **** its butter. My interest in this device has just been recharged.
Yeah...I do know that...but the decision making that led to that (Sprint of course)..just gets me. Are they not aware that high end devices like this are purchased by extremely tech savvy folks and are gonna be fully aware they're throttling capacity....
Ah well....let it go...

From what I can tell the only thing over the EVO that the Droid X has is dedicated graphics. On the other hand the EVO has 4G. The most intense games I play on my phone are games like solitaire, haha. 4G is way worth the trade for me. If you're really looking for a gaming phone then maybe the Droid X is the way to go. Is rather have the EVO and then get a 3Ds or a PSP. To each their own.

Maybe it's just me and probably it has to do with the fact that i'm a broke soon to be college kid. I don't get how some of your jump from one device on an entirely different carrier to another, just for the bigger stick effect. Wasn't directed towards anyone. Just saying, The evo just came out and I know we are all with-in our 30 day return limit for just about another week, but the some of you are already dribbling over the droid x, and i'm sure the same will happen when another OMG this phone is better because of this one extra thing comes out a month later.

Well in my case I have family plans with both Sprint and At&t so moving my At&t lines which are all out of contract wouldn't cost a nickle more per month on Verizon and can gain the FOTM device that I want. With Sprint I use the other people's upgrades and they get hand me downs (one of the perks of paying the bills) so upgrades are plentiful.
there's not even any games that take advantage of the Droids GPU so why complain? Android still gets crappy games compared to the Iphone.

How was that ridiculous? He showed exactly what people want when they buy the Evo: larger screen, faster proc, etc. I don't see your point. I mean, I'm glad you're happy with your Hero. It's a great phone. I personally love mine. I'm getting an Evo, though, and will be giving my Hero to my girlfriend. It's much better than her Palm Pre... just as the Evo is much better than the Hero.

I kinda agree with the second post. The evo is a great phone, although I think the video shows basic android users that the hero and the evo have pretty much the same thing. NOW WHILE MOST PEOPLE HERE KNOW THATS DIFFERENT, the idea is that both phones run the stunning htc sense, have the most of the same built in apks, and on the video the hero doesn't move that much slower than the evo.
Advantage to the evo for basic users:
-4G
-better camera
-moves faster and snappier
-images look better because of a higher resolution
-swype keyboard: although anyone will be able to get this eventually
-FRONT FACING CAMERA
-BIG OL BAD SCREEN
-more storage space for apps
Disadvantages:
-4G not really existant for users outside of big cities-and most of the big cities wont get 4G till later this year.
-CAMERA has more megapixels but takes not so great pics according to reviews
-new phone= bugs, some still being worked on
-swype can be brought to any phone, and probably will soon
-some people think the screen is TOO BIG.
so for me the basic advantages are matched by the disadvantages. So I'm fine sticking with my hero. The evo is better, yes. the front camera-cool. But i don't like the size and I don't get 4G, so I'm better off waiting off a while, as hard as that can be for people who love shiny new phones with awesome specs.
i'm good with my hero for now

No, but if I wanted to serve cheese off that platter, I could! Hoers d'oeuvres, anyone?
I went by Radio Shack the other day and I didn't like the way it fit in my hand. But then again I felt the same way with my Hero because I had come from a phone that was probably 2" wide or something. After seeing the video I wouldn't mind getting one, but I'm sure they will release a better one hopefully with Android 3.0 and a dual core processor, so I will wait until then and see where I am financially. Also paying $10 extra for 4G is crazy. They should give us the option of upgrading to 4G if we live in a city were it is offered.
I don't disagree with you on any particular point. The $10 increase is BS unless they tell me they're getting 4G in my area and that fee is to cover installation. And there's always going to be a better phone. It's a fact.
...and I'll probably get that one too. >.>
LOL at you, yea you. I do that comparison everyday w my wifes hero, and the performance difference its so big its not even funny, and hers is OC. No comparison. And you would love the screen size if you ever typed in an Evo, specially coming from a Hero.

Hard to disagree with any of your points. A tricked out Honda S2000 is pretty badass though
Also, seeing as I live outside of a 4G zone, giving Sprint $120/yr more for the privilege of owning an Evo just doesn't sit right. Enjoy your new toy though, it is a work of art.

I need to switch from T-Mobile to Verizon. I just simply can't handle the dropped data connection. Sure 4G might be fast on T-Mobile (in some areas I'm getting 5 mbps) but on campus where I'm at 90% of the time, I don't get data at all.
I've heard Verizon tops out at about 1.5 mbps. Can anyone here confirm or dispel that?
How does the Incredible stack up? I know new phones are on the horizon, but I saw that the Incredible S doesn't have much over the other phones already out. The HTC Thunderbolt is nice but it's also $249.99. The processors aren't that much different.
I do like the front facing camera. The Thunderbolt does have 4G though. So I was considering getting the Incredible now and then exchanging for the Thunderbolt when it launches. (I have 30 days exchange since I'm in California)
What do you guys think?
the processor is very different. it's 2nd gen and much more powerful. check out wirefly's presentation on the htc thunderbolt vs the evo. The thunderbolt destroys the evo.
I am a t-mobile convert for the same reason, except 50% of the time I didn't get any service at all.
The Verizon network, in my opinion/experience, is vastly more reliable than t-mobile's spotty coverage.
When I switched, I went to wirefly.com and got my incredible for $20 brand-new-in-box when I added a line to a family plan. The deal is even better if you sign up for a new contract; the phone is FREE.
I cannot say the same for the thunderbolt or iPhone. I owned an iPhone2g (orig), and the only feature I miss is the integration with iTunes seamlessly. But that's the only thing I miss (aside from the sleekness). I haven't had great experiences with Apples, but that could be entirely different for you.
The iPhone almost requires extra accessories off the bat, like an otterbox case to protect the back glass plate from shattering (which is common), and, of course, the "Antennae-gate" fiasco. Haven't heard if this was solved in the CDMA revision, haven't heard otherwise either.
It really all comes down to what you want out of a phone. The Inc and the iPhone 4 have been out for over 6 months, whereas the Thunderbolt is bleeding edge (New sense ui, new graphics processor, HUGE screen.)
P.S.: just to throw a wrench in your gears, look at the Incredible S. Can you say SEXAY??
I personally could not recommend the incredible cause it's becoming outdated fast. New sense ui, more ram, and better cpu are major improvements in the next batch of htc phones.
hell... being able to use htcsense.com with out a buggy desire z rom is worth waiting for.
I just completed my order for an HTC Droid Incredible.
Since I ordered today, I'll have until March 17th (February only has 28 days) to exchange it. I'm sure the Thunderbolt will be out by then.
If it isn't, I'll call Verizon and threaten to cancel my order and go to AT&T or something if they don't let me order a Thunderbolt to have that as my new phone.
Plus since I ordered with Best Buy, I get the Buy Back program for free!

You'll be able to trade out, and honestly (barring some ridiculous situation such as the T-bolt not lasting 2 hours on that battery or something else that would ruin its functionality) I would suggest doing it. The T-bolt's processor is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than the Incredible out of the box, not to mention the ability to overclock to 1.7 ghz and remain stable. The GPU is very nearly twice as fast in the second-gen Snapdragon, and Sense 2.0 absolutely amazing as well. I love the Inc, its amazing compared to what I had (Eris), but the Thunderbolt (and upcoming Inc S) will be very nearly the same amount of improvement over the Inc.

no offence, but I hate that people do this. That's the exact reason VZW changed the return policy to 14 days, and I wouldn't be suprised if it decreases to 7 next year.
Yeah the Incredible is great, but it is becoming outdated, and VZW will stop selling in March I believe. The Thunderbolt seems nice, although slightly large. Just beware of those 4G costs. You never know the pricing The Big Red will put for that service...

Honestly, I would own and use a Verizon iPhone 4, if it went on sale.
The screen is slightly smaller than the droid inc, but the pixel density is instantly noticeable...it's so rich and vibrant...
I think I would miss flashing roms WAY too much though, lol.

yes, 2nd generation snapdragons are much more powerful than the 1st gen. Also, the gpu on the incredible isn't great so don't expect to play any graphic intense games.

I don't agree with this at all. I've tethered and Skype'd for 3 or 4 hours with no issues whatsoever with the speed. The quality was not as great as my home connection, but it was fine for having no other alternative.
The incredible is an excellent phone. In all honesty, it anybody on Verizon would do well to wait until June to upgrade to an iPhone if that is the route they choose to go.
Android is an excellent platform, but iOS has it's virtues as well. Just depends on the experience you are looking for.
In my opinion, the Thunderbolt is not enough of an improvement over the Incredible to wait on it. At a certain point you reach overkill.
I'm surprised at the lack of apple bashing till now. I switched to an iPhone and I am moving back to android. I have an iPad for all my iOS gaming needs. I am done with the incredible though and moving to a fascinate.
To be honest, wait and see what the iPhone 5 is going offer (next few months you should start hearing rumors) before making a jump. iOS is only getting better and will more than likely have many of the features of Android without sacrificing build quality.
Good luck with your purchase either way.

I switched from a first gen iPhone on Tmo to the Droid Incredible on Verizon. I agree the service is vastly superior and I seem to get signal almost everywhere (save for my ground floor apartment, but thats not their fault.)
I was a little disappointed when I first switched phones though , something about Android on the Incredible felt cheap and I couldn't place my finger on it. Then while loading Facebook one night I realized it was just because there was zero lag time between hitting the icons and the application loading up. Weird right? Something about having that loadtime on the first gen iPhone made everything seem a little more substantial.
But that's all in the past, love the flexibility of Android. That said, I've still yet to see an Android phone keep up with an iPhone when it comes to standby battery life. As for waiting for the iPhone 5 - seems like it'll be the 4G update (awesome) but nothing else substantial.
The Dinc is still a fantastic phone though. It's very quick for general phone use and web browsing, it just doesn't have the most battery conservative cpu nor does it have the graphical capabilities for upcoming games. It's a shame that Samsung seems so hellbent to not support their phones, otherwise those would be great as well.

The incredible is too small, I am tired of HTC and I didn't like the Droid X. I loved the fascinate in my time with it. I am done with ROM swapping. You all's opinions aren't the only ones that matter.
I'm glad you all like the incredible so much, but it'll be EOL in a few months. The next thing I want is the iPhone 5, so to sate myself till then, the fascinate will suffice. Thank you for your continuing support of my phone purchasing decisions. Philly, do you not have anything better to do then travel through this forum stating your opinions as truth? Other people are allowed to have opinions too big guy. Froyo has been on the fascinate for a while, it's been leaked. And in my experience with it, there wasn't lag. Biased much?
Again, this brings me full circle to an original point. Asking this question here won't net you honest unbiased opinions. There are too many people who feel too strongly about android to give you the whole story. Do what I did, get the iPhone and see if that's what you want. Return it and try an android phone, you may realize like I did that android is too lovable to leave. I love my iPad and I will love my fascinate. It's the best of both worlds in my opinion. (it's ok if I have one of those right Philly?)
Was checking the best buy website today and the Sprint Nexus S phone now has an add to cart button.
When processing the purchase it gives an Estimated Arrival: 04/18-04/21/2011
I opened a chat with a best buy rep and was told:

Tech: The date is on 4/18/2011
Just an FYI for those who care.
I just chatted with a Bestbuy rep and she said that if anyone pre-orders it and is with a different carrier they will be eligible for the $125 rebate that Sprint is offering if it is done before the 16th.

only benefit is that its pure google and that chip oh and gingerbread

also with all the fixes we have for the delay i am actually enjoying typing on it especially with my new epic i got yesterday, hardware is so much tighter then my old original epic.

That's a personal preference thing, I could argue that thinner is better, it certainly doesn't make one better than the other.
Yep to personal preference... if i could switch to the Nexus... in a heart beat will i ? HELL NO it's not worth the amount of money.... ill wait for a decent Dual Core

too me, i think the epic has some of the best hardware and is the only top of the line phone with the hardware kb and for a keyboard phone i think it is so sexy and thin
compared to the moment, the tp2 tp1, i think a lot more people like having that keyboard, all my friends that have galaxy s variants hate me cause i have the hardware keyboard.
but your right it is a preference
mind telling me why you didnt get the evo if you like thin phones?
was it the screen and the hardware on the epic?

I did have the Evo originally and it's still sitting in my drawer in the event I need a backup phone.
I switched for 3 Reasons.
The extremely poor GPU in the Evo.
It's weight vs. the Epic (or any SGS)
The direction HTC is going in.

Are we getting dual core pure Google phones on sprint? Is the next Nexus close to the horizon and in dual core?

agreed.
i will be picking up my nexus 4g the day it comes out, why? i am going to be stuck in a contract for 2 years with it. there is no doubts in my mind, the sgx540 in the SGS lineup is hands down the best phone gpu on the market (check glbenckmark.com) in terms of overall benchmark gpu scores the nexus s is 4 slots down from the ipad 2 (you know that new dual core tablet thats been crushing everything in terms of speed) so as far as i see it i have a choice between the epic or the ns4g. the epic is a decent enough phone. i love hard ware keyboards, but i want upgrades for 2 years... ask anyone on the nexus forums if they regret getting a nexus device. im willing to bet 99.9 of them will tell you they love having 2.3.3
i couldnt care at all about nfc (yay non scannable qr codes... woopie..) but its more about the simple things. i very rarely run any stock rom, most of the time is cyanogenmod, i congratulate the devs on trying so hard to bring it to the epic but its still got a bit to go. i guarantee the nexus s 4g will have an official repo/build within a week of cm7.
now whats the worst part about nexus s 4g? the camcorder.. its locked at 480p due to hardware limitations, but i can get over that as i dont use my phone as a video camera. no sd card slot? nah ive owned cell phones before they used microsd, and i own an ipod.. so im kinda used to the whole concept of being stuck with a size, besides refer to above point.. no video means less space taken up by media. no i would have to say the worst part about getting a nexus s 4g is knowing that with gb out and hc being held off for tablets only.. that ice cream is a bit off and that means its gunna be a bit of a wait for me to get my next dose of android medicine.
P.S i know i cant be the only one hoping that moto gets skipped on the next nexus device and lg gets it
For those who are interested, I just got a 10% off coupon in the email from Best Buy. That means a 10% discount on preorders of. Nexxus S

I have this dumb habit of getting the cooler (in MY opinion) and more unique thing when I have a choice between it and something a little less cool but better supported. I own a Zune instead of an iPod, a Mazdaspeed3 instead of a WRX, I used to have an HPI RC car instead of an Associated RC-* that was gas powered instead of electric, and an Epic instead of an Evo, etc.
On one hand, I have never once wanted to kick the phone across the parking lot like I did with the Hero, but on the other hand, the Evo has more accessories that can be bought in brick and mortar stores, more custom ROMs including a more functional CM (much love, you guys really picked a whore of a phone to port to) and more fully functioning root apps.
I know in my heart that if I did get the Evo, I'd be kicking myself for not getting the far more powerful Epic. In this upgrade cycle I think I made the right decision to give Samsung another chance. I still don't trust them to the level of HTC (started with them back in the Titan days) but if they can make a hot-rod Google Experience phone then I'm definitely on board.
If anyone cares.

that coupon is no good on contract phones.
That new EVO looks pretty sweet. I think I'm going to hold out for it. And for those of you that get your phones from Best Buy, you are better off going to a Sprint Store.
Got it a few hours ago. On paper, the specs but don't seem like a huge upgrade, but when you actually use it, you can tell it is.
It's fast. No hiccups, lag, or anything. You may say, "my dinc doesn't have any lag or slowdown either," but when you mess with a dinc 2 you will see what I mean. Screen is gorgeous. Phone feels excellent. Speaker is less "tinny" than the original.
I still need to mess with a ton of other stuff, but if you have any questions, let me know.
I'm most concerned with if/when it gets rooted. And how many dev's it picks up. Looks like quite a few of them already went to the Thunderbolt. I'm not due for an upgrade until July 2012 anyway, so when that date comes, who knows what will be out, but I will probably go with whatever is already rooted, and has the most development.
I had one a few days ago, and honestly, the "faster" tihng is really overblown. A menu screen may pop up a microsecond faster, but it wasn;t any more useable or anything. And the glare on that screen could cut glass.

Engadget just gave the Galaxy S II a 9/10. And they hate android. It looks really nice - if it comes out on Verizon, I will have to think really hard about saying no...
I don't know what my next phone will be. I can't upgrade until March but I know I want an LTE phone and front facing camera and the dinc 2 only has one of my wants.

I got one this morning and I'm liking it. I needed a world phone so it was a no-brainer for me. I like the screen size as compared to my dinc1. It's a good compromise with having a bigger screen without being one of the 4.3" phones that I thought were too big.

What Sense version is it? What kernel? Is it drm protected so it can do netflix? I noticed on the vzw website it has the same processor as the Thunderbolt. So don't know if it would be. Also noticed it doesn't have a trackball or optical joystick. Thats gonna suck.

I read somewhere that it's Sense 2.0. The kernel is 2.6.35.9. Don't know about drm.
As for the trackball/optical, i'm glad it doesn't have it. I never used it on my dinc1.

Guess I'll have to play with one to check out the glare thing. DI2 is just the size I was looking for, but no dual core and no LTE, made me actually consider waiting for the GS2..... or better.
I believe its sense 2.1 and I personally like the optical joystick as well.

Im playin with one now at verizon and neither it or the tbolt are a big enough upgrade over the dinc for me. Tbolt maybe, dinc 2, no way. Im runnin optimized z and my phone is way smoother. Inc2 screen only slightly bigger, ive got a z camera that is the same. Dinc2 is already outdated IMO.

That's a big concern for me. I just picked up the DInc2 yesterday....at retail price. Why? Both my wife and I are deaf and we live in what you would call a rather remote area, but at least have VZW tower nearby. A 4G/LTE phone is overkill when one lives nearly 2 hours to the first traffic light. So, on paper, as a 3G phone with video chat capability at a lower price then the LTE stuff, the DInc2 really fits the bill by giving me video chat so my wife and I can sign to each other when in different locations. That's a big plus.
BUT... as I scout all the normal forums I've used for my Droid 1, Droid X and Nook, the DInc2 looks like a real sleeper in terms of dev interest. This is my first HTC phone and even though the Motorola Droid has that %*&$#@ 'locked' bootloader, there's still a lot of options as well as the leaked restore files. I don't really want to root a phone until the point where there's some solid dev work as well as the ability to restore after screwing something up.
So, since like I mentioned, we're nearly 2 hours to the first traffic light and the nearest VZW store is just beyond that, I may bring it back on Tuesday when we're in the area and wait for the next suitable phone that has video chat capabilities. I've always used VZW's one-year contract and now that this option has bit the dust, I don't want to sign a two-year extension at the end of the year unless its for a phone that well-supported by devs AND has decent battery life.

It takes a while for the devs to ramp up on a phone. It was a couple of weeks or more before the original DI was cracked and then it took even more time to get ROMs up to speed. Every phone is different and it just takes time. The DI2 was just released YESTERDAY. Your expectations might be just a little high.
...just sayin'.

Yeah, I do understand that. At the same time, I've been seeing devs flock away from other phones as they get fascinated with latest 4G/LTE, tablet, dual-core, etc. So, in that respect, I'd guess the DInc2 would gotten more attention had it been released early Winter.

Inc S (Same phone) was released months ago...just sayin
so I had an incdredible, got an iphone 4 (huge mistake), then got the thunderbolt. well im now back on the incredible and i gotta say that the inc is the fastest smoothest phone ive had so far. the thunderbolt felt laggy alot, even after i rooted it, no matter what rom i was on. i dont live in an area where 4g exists so that didnt matter. i also didnt like how big it was. im not even sure the inc 2 is as good as the inc 1. they decreased internal memory and increased the size of the screen... just seems a little weird that this phone seems to be better than the newer technology..
Agree with you!
I have been in Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular in the past few days checking all the phones out, and I can't find anything that is as quick and works as well as the Incredible. I would love to upgrade, but to me there is nothing to UPgrade to. The original Incredible is just an awesome phone.
That's weird. I'd think the added 256mb of RAM would make it faster.
I wonder if it's a matter of the Incredible having been out far longer and devs having more time to figure out how to optimize things for it?

it has better tech because it's older, and more time was put into it. the thunderbolt has crappy tech, sense 2.1. a good example, i was in the store the other day looking for a belt holster, i did find it, but, was comparing specs on the droid charge to the droid x, the droid x has a faster proc, i asked why the charge costed more since it has lower tech then the x. the rep said "well, this is newer, has dual core (WRONG) has a bigger screen (yeah, because i really need a 4.3 inch screen when 3.7 is serving me fine, ffs i use a 20" HDTV i got for 90 bucks on clearence, no it's not "1080p led, 120hz" crap, but it works.
Shoot Kiboe find me a HDTV deal like that! My husband would love you. LOL!
Yeah I got the Incredible the first day it was out. This phone works pretty good with the Synergy rom.

I have been looking around for a phone to tempt me away from the Incredible and nothing has even come close. What I find funny is the Verizon stores I've gone to are now locking the phones so you can't get into the settings and see what its specs are. This is truly the first phone that has lived up to its name.
C4H1LL why did you get rid of the iphone 4 out of curiosity? I'm track to buy the new one for verizon when it comes out.
I agree the Incredible is Incredible!!! I will cry when it brakes, running MIUI.US with Incredikernel. The Incredible 2 and the Thunderbolt are basically the same except Incredible2 is global and no LTE. All three have 1gig single core cpu's, but the overclock potential for the 2 and thunder would kill the original. I want a unlocked bootloader dual core HTC.

Still have my dinc.. still an awesome phone. But my inspire has me hooked. Plus att coverage is way better in my area. ( sticks) . At this point in the game its really a battle of specs. To me its all becoming overkill if you think bout it.. while having the latest and greatest is nice. Staying one generation behind is always better. Why? Because of optimization..lol bugs worked out.

ha yea. For these android phones that is true, plus you get a huge discount is price.
You couldn't pay me to leave my Tbolt to go back to my dInc. Or the dInc2. A number of the early custom ROMs where pretty sorry, despite the best efforts of many devs. That mainly has to do with some pretty sorry base leaks from the Big Red Checkmark. I'm currently running a 3D ROM (not exactly easy on graphics) and it lags NONE at all. Furthermore, having 25 to 45 Mbps in your pocket is not something you ever want to give up.
Concerning the dInc2, that's a far better device than the original. The LCD is FAR brighter than the AMOLED, the CPU is more muscular, it's got more memory, it's got a screen large enough to reasonably display a keyboard, a decent front-facing camera, it's even more pleasant to the hand to hold, and it's actually difficult to kill the battery inside a day. If 4G wasn't a factor, I'd have a dInc2. 4G being a factor, the Tbolt is an industrial-strength device capable of summoning speeds as high as 45Mbps, leaving you effectively waiting for nothing. Really.... it downloads songs faster than you can open the music player and play them. Tethered or on the device, streaming HD quality video is NOT a big deal. I've downloaded 310MB ROMs in under 3 minutes.
not everyone is in a 4g market!!!!!!
if you have the money, go with the t-bolt, if not, just stick with the dinc until you do.
Lol had my Inc since early February. I'm happy with it and the specs aren't too low. I do have a bone to pick with HTC on their cruddy bluetooth system. It is pretty much my dependent internet connection when I'm at home. I can't get wireless out here and the closest thing we can get is dial up (not going back). I'm getting closer to go back to CM7 and get better bluetooth, but the camera sucks on it and I won't be able to use the tv out cable. While I have my issues with it, I'm happy I got it. I got it on sale for 50 bucks at Hhgregg, which in my opinion is a bargain. I don't think 4G will take off...at least not drastically for quite a while as its still being developed in many parts of the US. Maybe by the time my contract is up, I'll upgrade to a different Droid or a different non-HTC sense and Galaxy S device. Maybe get something with HDMI as well as more phones are coming with that lol. Plus with the unlimited data I'm grandfathered in and 4G data in the future, I will no longer have to go out for wifi But I'll be with my Incredible Droid until the contract is up. I might hold onto it and see if there's other purposes for it. I say if you can find this phone dirt cheap like Amazon had for .01 cent with a contract, not really into 4G yet, and could care less about a front facing camera then this phone is for you.
There are tech sites (tested.com) for example who talk about how this device is outdated and stuff.
It really isn't... it is a great phone and hasn't failed me yet. I just added on a bulky battery to mine though so it lasts over a day if I can't find a plug. The only con I had before was battery life.
I am probably going to end up dropping it one day and breaking it beyond repair and that is gonna force me to upgrade, because for what I use it for I don't see myself needing anything else yet.
I already replaced the digitizer twice lol... last time was just because it had a lot of scratches though

Are you rooted? There's probably a bunch of things you can do to help your battery life out, I'm on a 1900mAh battery that still fits in the stock case and I get over a day's use. I use a BUNCH of GPS and data too (according to VZW I used 20GB last month)
But yea the INC is growing a little old but there's nothing I have to complain about it, and no phone is a good enough upgrade for me to go for it.
One day though.. we will part our ways. Just got a new case for mine so I'm in love with it all over again..now spending hours on these forums. oh god. I need to go to sleep.
