facebook mobile - HD2 General

before you start shouting nooob, yes i have searched and tried everything.
heres the crack,i cant get onto the normal facebook site, only mobile.ive changed my user prefs and all the other things in opera 10 settings.could it be something to do with voda fone.or can u give me some new ideas

did you change the user agent to make the facebook webservers think the phone is a pc? i had the same problem in opera 9.7 and changing the user agent string to one for windows 7 running IE8 sorted it for me.

I think Facebook changed something lately. I could always get to the normal site without trouble by using the normal http://www.facebook.com/home.php?m2w address before, and suddenly last week it started directing me to the mobile site. It seems it stopped now. Try to use that address, if you end on the mobile site click touch site at the bottom, then on the bottom of the touch site select normal site. It *should* get stored in a cookie after that, as it's what worked for me...

TyTn IE Cookies

I looked through 3 pages of search and couldn't find a solution..
OK 1st I had my temp IE on my storage card and every time I go to yahoo or any other page that I was logged into (and checked to keep me log in box) I was logged out...
Never had this problem with my 8125..
So moved the temp IE back to phone and same thing.
And Yes I have cookies enabled in the options..
Any clue please???
Anyone?
No problems here, I am logged into xda, howardforums and am always logged in when i revisit the page. Could be its the site itself that doesnt allow this. Have you modified your PIE user agent setting to identify it as the full desktop IE6?

Explorer and Opera don't show some webpages

I've tried these two browsers but i've some problems with some web pages like mail webpage of my e-mail provider Libero Italy or the itinerary of Viamichelin web page. Pages go ahead but don't charge everything well, making usage impossible.
Thia happens also using Operamini as java applet.
I'm using the new official gps enabled Rom but this happened also with the former Rom.
My old Samsung phone managed java Operamini applet to show everything.
Does somebody know this issue and has a solution?
The good thing about the trinity is to behave like a PC along the street, but without this kind of pages many advantages become lost.

Disgruntled HTC Touch HD Owner

wassup with this email problem. Microsoft released a patch for the smtp bug in wm6.1 but the patch refuses to install on my new wm6.1.4 touch HD! I seem to be left with a device that cannot send emails, and MS calls this a business OS! Anyone else having this problem and does anyone know when MS might solve my pain
What error do you get while installing the patch? Are you sure you're installing the right patch?

don't have a Touch HD, but did you soft reset and then try to install the patch? also, what message appears on the screen after the unsuccessful installation? and finally, i assume that you've been affected by this bug...correct?
It does take a while for beginners to learn things like cab file installation, soft reset, hard reset, unlocking, ROM flashing, etc.
But don't get discourage. It's not that complicated. It can even be fun after a while. In fact there are many ROM junkies among us who suffers from withdrawal symptoms when there is no new ROM for them to play around.
Sorry for asking this but, what email problem?
Sometimes the search function is your best friend:

Speak for yourself, eaglesteve! Confession is good for the soul!
It's good to see you here as well! Looking for an athena replacement?
Back to the topic, wasn't there another thread saying Touch HD does not need this patch? Indeed, see the post above!
The patch is for WM6.1 prior to 6.1.4 only!
Hmmm how ironic my email is actually not working either....
I just tried it and it keeps saying unable to connect, wtf?
It doesn't even try to connect via HSDPA, if I connect it manually it still doesn't work!!! What a piece of crap.... Never had any problem with this before on WM
Hi there, my first post, also my first windows mobile device (I know I need to setup my profile still.)
Anyways, started having this problem last night, I thought it may have been my provider blocking ports or something. Nope T-Mobile (UK) say that all my ports are open, I've just done a speed test and getting over 2000kbps. I wont mentions names, but a helpful tech support guy suggested updating the rom when someone releases a custom one. Though I'm thinking before that we need microsoft to get into gear and give us a hotfix for this on our ce version
Hard reset does not solve this problem.
any ideas guys???

Version 6.1.4 has this patch already built in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444996&highlight=smtp
Guess what, I found this with THE SEARCH FUNCTION!
If it still does not work, either hit yourself for configuring not correct, or go beat your provider up, they have ****ed up something.
E-mail probs?
I have found that my Touch HD has varying issues with sending and receiving emails, and these differ between whichever email service I am using. For example my emails through Yahoo are perfect, yet my mails thru Orange (Freeserve / Wannadoo) completely refuse to work whattever I try.
Just ironic that my Touch HDs' service provider IS Orange, yet I cant connect to THEIR email servers!!!!!
I will buy your HD for $99 if you don't like it.
SMTP still a major issue with wm 6.1.4
Like many others I have an HTC Touch HD with the 6.1.4 operating system that is supposed to be bug free when it comes to sending emails. Well it isnt! Same classic problem, receives but wont send. 6.1.4 needs a patch too! (but hasnt got one God help us all.....
I found a solution to this. quite strange as my opera and internet explorer stopped working. so I did a hard reset (holdinging both volume buttons while phone tuned off, then pressing power button), and then auto setup my settings for t-mobile and I had opera and internet explorer working again. The email solution was to just go into the connection settings, goto proxy server and untick the box next to "uses a proxy server to connect to the internet" so that all programs have direct net access. everything works now like a dream
Of course you don't need to do a hard reset if your opera and internet explorer connect, just delete the proxy server settings.
hope this post helps people.
Have you tried the .cab suggested by this link :
http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/...obile-smtp-fix
I use AOL for my email and used to have the error message, but not after installing that .cab. (Install at your own risk)

Windows live mobile fun :(

Hi
I got my HD2 yeasterday flashed it to 1.66 before I even put a sim in it and its been working really well. O2 even sent me a phone I could flash from HTC's website.
One is is that after maybe 1 hour or 4 hours windows live mobile will fail to connnet to msn and pull down emails. Restarting the phone is the only fix.
I have unticked the proxy setting just for it to retick when I click OK. Everything else will work fine just WLM will stop working.
Any ideas why and how to fix it as it is a very helpful feature?
Same, WLM is just useless. It will crash after about an hour starting by "the wireless network is currently unavailable" even if it is, at which point it's impossible to force it to disconnect, to close it, and it will hang task managers that try to enumerate the running processes so no way to kill it. After several long minutes it will finally say "you've been disconnected" stops hanging everything and can be closed, but relaunching it and trying to reconnect will only give a "network is unavailable" popup straight away before it even tries to connect. Usually it will cause lockups to other programs too in its wake, forcing a reboot.
I'd really appreciate a solution or alternative. Slick crashes with memory errors, IMPlus only manages to connect to msn half the time even if other protocols always work... I just can't find any msn client that actually works.
hmmmm guess ill have to wait for an update to appear. Meanwhile im going to unsync my email and do hotmail via pop3/imap.
Please post which version of WLM you are using (or is it just the one with the stock rom?).
I`m using an updated version and it's working flawlessly here (although it had problems syncing in the beginning).
OK:
try this one
http://rapidshare.com/files/333732216/WindowsLive.PPC2005_arm.cab
or
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L4VOCVG1
ive tried the updated version from the market place and it still does it.
I have loaded your first link onto my phone and we shall see how it goes. I have noticed if i leave MSN signed in it seems to do stop syncing and when i sign out msn the email works again.
10.7.0061.0500.2000, which is cooked in the ROM i use (see below).
And they really could make longer version numbers...
OK, downoading yours now.
tried both of them and the fault still shows. I have created a post on the windows mobile forums which I hope MS will see and will get to the bottom of the issue.
Here is the post for those who wish to contribute: social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsmobile/thread/5c420f13-001e-42d6-924c-7385b0274221/ <<< Copy and paiste into your browser as im not allowed to post links yet.
i have the EXACT same prob! my life wud be SO much better if this prob didnt exist. its so frustrating i cant stand it anymore!!! come on ive solved EVERY prob on xda-developers somebody MUST knw the answer
I met the exact same problem. So I have to find a 3rd party IM software Beejive IM.
But it's pretty strange that in WM system, we even can't use MSN.
Hope some one could fix the problem.

does the nudge feature work with mobile msn.or do i need to update the version.where can i get the latest version of wlm
I don't use this software, but have you attempted to edit the registry?
EG what is the proxy it defaults to?
Whenever I install a clean ROM, I *must* go in the registry to HKLM/Comms/ConnMgr/Providers/(something)/(something)/Proxy and clear the key - otherwise youtube NEVER works.
The reason behind this is because everytime you load youtube, Youtube assumed ^that proxy was the one you needed, so it copied the value to HKLM/Software/HTC/Youtube/ProxyName, and nothing worked.
I'm assuming similar behavior is happening here?
So my question is: WHAT proxy is it automatically using?
It can't be a proxy issue, because as mentioned msn works, just that it will "crash" after about 1hr of use, and only then won't connect anymore until the next soft reset.
Hi there!
Same problem with windows love here. At best the service is reasonable....most of the time its just not!
Anyway; instead of just complaining I want to make it better and try the new version in the supplied link above. There is a notification however about deleting the older version existig on the phone before installing the new version. Question: how to delete the old version?? It's not in the programlist...
Anyone?
It asks if you want to uninstall, just answer "yes" and it does (or does not, but who cares, it does install the new one afterwards )
The one in the link was the same I already had though, so no help. I'm using IM+ lite now. Not perfect, but at least it works.
HD2
Ok i dont know if this is anything to do with this thread but got a hd2 but msn doesnt work on wi-fi? does anyone know how to get this fixed? it only works on Data
Thanks
Has anyone found a solution for this yet?
Just wondering, why dont you use the default mail client on WM(setup the mail account) and for messenger, use parlingo? I too had my run with Windows live messenger failing me. I actually did what i've typed and became a happier man. Maybe you like to try that?
i use only exchange email sync and that works perfekt. Lets me have gmail on outlook exchange. But it sux that we cant use a microsoft product full out on a windows phone, makes no sense. All rom cookers seem to given up on msn messenger. But setting hotmail only to sync "as ithems arrive" works great.
Yeah I use Palringo but WLM has much better visuals, ah well I'll give up on it aswell.

Japan - Mixi Registration

This isn't really HD2 specific but, it's the phone that I'm using so I'm putting the thread here.
I'm trying to register on Mixi. The process starts with registering and confirming a "PC" e-mail (In my case, a g-mail account). Then, filling out personal particulars etc. etc. Finally, they ask you to put in your Japanese e-mail/phone-mail/MMS-mail account to which they send a confirmation message. I get this with no problems (many thanks again to BeeGee for helping this be possible) but, when I click the link in the message I get an error message saying there was a problem with a link to the tune of "use this link if you're on a PC".
I suspect that the problem is that the phone connects to the link like a PC rather than a Japanese phone. So the site thinks that the phone is a PC.
Now, without this final step, I can't actually complete the registration process. I have heard of the .edu work-around and will resort to that if all else fails. But having a working phone-mail address I would like to be able to use that instead.

It might be that it is expected that the link is opened in one of the strange Softbank phone browsers. The type they have on their cheap phones.
What you can try is to check the settings of your browser and set it to mobile view.
This can be done in Opera under menu/settings/display.
In Internet Explorer you go to menu/Tools/Options/Other and select Mobile Device.
Third solution, put your SIM card into a Softbank phone (not WMobile), get the confirmation email there, click on the link and it will connect thru the phones browser.
Thanks for that!
Switching to mobile view didn't work in Opera or IE.
I really should have thought of that last option myself
Thanks again BeeGee!
excuse me,,
can you help me too ?
