Anyone successfully do this? I enabled GPS in the camera settings, after a few seconds I get a little pop-up that says the camera found the GPS location, but no location data is saved on the file. I uploaded it in Picasa and there is no info there and I also looked in the properties of the file on my computer.
Maybe I'm getting a GPS lock but its not accurate enough for the camera to save it onto the picture? Anyone else get it to work?
Hi All,
I've got an interesting problem and I haven't found any hints elsewhere on this site or the interwebs. I have an HTC HD2 and I used the registry mod to enable GPS photos. Latest English ROM and no major mods other than Cookie's Home Tabs (which is awesome). I can take GPS pictures, show them on the map on the phone and upload them to Facebook.
The issue is, I can't find the GPS pictures anywhere on the storage device. All my photos go to /Storage Card/DCIM/Media100, but there are no GPS photos in there.
When I look at my Photo Albums on the native photo viewer, I have two Albums both named Media100. In one of these albums I have all my regular images, the same that show up in the folder listed above. In the other folder, I have all my GPS photos which I can handily view in the album (so I know they're still here somewhere).
If I search the storage card while on ActiveSync, I can find all the GPS photos that I'm searching for, but I can't access them to copy them onto my laptop.
This is a perplexing problem. It looks like somehow I have a memory naming issue and I don't know how to sort it out and I don't want to lose all my pictures. My last resort will be to go through and select each one and email it to myself, but that will take some time.
Any ideas out there?
Dan
I've done a search but can't see anything... I've uploaded various photo albums to my new TF, but for some reason each album is shown in reverse order (i.e. it's coming up with the end of our holiday first and the first photo is right at the end!)
The EXIF contains the correct datestamps and the filenames are alphanumerically in the correct order (i.e. Holiday001.jpg, Holiday002.jpg, etc). I've even played with the order in which I copy them over - makes no difference.
All I can think is that it's deliberately ordering them back-to-front, but I can't seem to find any option to change this (it seems bonkers that this would be the default and with no option to put it back to normal?)
I've also installed Quickpic which is okay for viewing, but it doesn't help in situations where the phone uses the gallery to select a photo, etc.
Any thoughts? Thanks!
So for a few days now I've been using the wireless storage function on my G2 to transfer pictures over to my computer. It's usually around 150-200 photos. I use I.E. to browse my wireless storage files, however, there is always one picture missing within the folder, but I can still see the picture on my phone. And I'm not talking about after I transfer my photos over to my computer, I'm talking about inside the network drive (\\192.168.0.XX). I'll attach a few pictures so you can better understand. I've tried to Google the problem, but I've had no success. . This is not a huge problem, it's just annoying when I need to have all of the pictures for sure and then I have to do a man hunt to find out which one is gone. Thanks, all help is much appreciated.
Is it really missing or just miscalculate?
Next time, try to transfer 10 images and see if one missing or not.

Nothing is being transferred. Like I said, it's in the G2 network drive where the photo is missing. Look in the photo I uploaded that's showing the 265 photos being selected, nothing was transferred prior to that screen-grab
EDIT - Also notice the network map in the first photo (\\192.168.0.10\g2\sdcard0\DCIM\100LGDSC)
By default screenshots are saved to the camera location, so Google Photos automatically backs them up.
How do we change that location?
Bump....
This is very annoying
I have the same issue - any workarounds?
Any?
I thought I was the only person this bothered. And it's weird because it doesn't do this on any older galaxys
There doesn't seem to be an option to change the location where screenshots are saved, no.
Just turn off auto backup in Google photos.
Or just stop taking screenshots of women full stop.
Mine saves to folder named "Screenshots", so not sure why yours would be different? Now, if Google backs up screenshots directory to cloud, take it up with Google, maybe there is a setting to choose which directory should be saved (cam pictures are saved to directory /DCIM/camera, screenshots to /DCIM/screenshots ), I don't use cloud for back up, since I use my laptops for that, so can't help you with settings.

Haven't tried this bug you can do a symbolic link from internal to sfcard for whatever folder you want using ln command.
PinSync
Hi, I was looking into this issue today and just found a solution. It's an App called PinSync. ( I can't post links yet... look for it on the PlayStore.)
It detects whenever a screenshot is taken and instantly moves it to another folder, so it's not displayed or uploaded into Google Photos.
I hope it helps you guys as well...
Try below:
Go to the DCIM folder, then Sreenshot folder. At the screenshot folder, add a new file with the name " .nomedia".
It does not change the storage location of screenshot files, but the screenshots will not be displayed in Camera anymore.
I think Google Photo should add an option of how often to backup pictures. Some pictures like screenshots are not meant to be saved for a long time.

If you don't fancy paying 89p for PinSync from the Google Playstore, you can download Automate for free, and very quickly and easily make a script that moves any files that appear in one folder to another
Try to move it and move it back again it's work for me

How to add new file ?
I've found that if you are really hellbent on using Google Photos and save your photos to the SD Card via your stock camera app, then when you view the "Library" on the Google Photo app there are two Camera folders. The one without the SD Card icon is where the Screen shots will reside, and the one with the SD Card icon are where your camera photos will be.

Not yet, but I've fed back to Google to update their Photos app. Check out Google Files app. It does categorise the Screenshots folder, so I'm pointing it out to Google dev to address it. It is kind of silly..... Why do they do this for one app and not the other?
