before i get stoned for this, just a reminder that this is MY point of view, i am not writing this to start a discussion, simply someone asked a question !

this is very open to discussion, like you asked which one is better? blonde, brunette or redheaded ?
until you dont try, you wont know. personaly as my signature says, i stuck with this rom, as i found 2-3 more promissing and better fit my needs, but the chefs were so ignorant, and were not ready to help for few obvious bugs, i gave up on tham.

for myself, battery last from one morning till next day night. not turning it off. hspda always on, mail checking every 10mins, weather download 30mins, average 30sms/day, and using it for business, so the phone calls are something to count on .. and i use the original battery. i also found some chinese batteries on ebay, that are same size, but more capacity.
hope this gave you some new info.
cheers

hmm im going from a desire to a hd2 there has to be some thought taken
HD2 is a handset iv always looked at with slight envy, plus iv never done any development work on winmo so its something i can learn with
off to pick one up!
will report back shortly!
Best Rom, see here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700513 .Have edited first post.
Moving this to General.

i'd say hd2, is a matured and stable hardware platform. you can find a lot of good roms here thanks to the ever skillful chefs; and even if you're not a huge fan of winmobile, there is a lot of good developers here and out there looking for ways to port it into android, and perhaps winmob7? The possibilities are endless, why hesitate?

Hey, my long awaited HD2 is coming tmrw!!! WOOHOO! YES!
Okay, all excitement over, what is the first thing I should do?
As in, screen tests, setting tweaks, etc?
Also, can someone step by step go through how to flash a EnergyROM onto the device later, once I have it?
Thanks,

Thanks man, I've heard so much good about it, but lately there have been so many bugs/problems being discussed on the forums, that I'm slightly scared.
Okay, thanks for the advice, will do. I just was looking at some ROMs, and saw how awesome Energy looked with MaxManilia haha
Hi there! Welcome to XDA Developers
I see your HD2 is arriving soon! Trust me it is SHINY!!!
And you'll love the way the device balances in your hand. Anyways, i'd suggest first of all to learn how to use the phone. Like, familiarise yourself with the layout, play around with the camera, and best of all flow through the Sense UI.
To learn how to flash ROMS, go to the HD2 Rom development section and head into the HSPL Guide there. Everything is mentioned step-by-step. Follow instructions carefully
That said, i'll strongly advice you try out more than one ROM, as each chef has his/her own unique taste and preferances. You're sure to find a ROM that's "just right" for you!
Remember to install Chainfire's HD2 Driver Patch, as that'll make your device run even smoother. Finally, browse through the General forum, and make sure you check out the Tips and Tricks forum, which is a life saver! If you want, also update your phone's Radio Version (found in the ROM Development Section)

A friend of mine uses the ENERGY Roms. But i'm still running on stock just upgraded to 1.66 today but still loving it even though it isn't modded.

I suppose that the cookie mod imitates the iPhone's app screen? Maybe people will be like "My device has 3 UI's in 1: iPhone home which is what the cookie rom seems to do, then there's the WinMo Start button, when you tap that, you get the Program menu...and last but not least...HTC Sense
Plus it gives a more wider base for the HD2 to stand on (if that made Sense)
Mind the pun

Well there are 2 ways of getting the 1.66 Rom, first would be HTC's website, then Support, and go to the ROM update (You'll need to enter some digits found under your phone battery) OR...you can go to the HD2 ROM Development section and then look under the Stock Roms (easier and faster in my opinion than going all the way to HTC's website!)
Ps. EnergyRoms are amazing...you won't know until you try and experiance it for yourself! There are many tweaks etc applied...and it has a cool theme set. You'll also get regular updates

As Mr Elemental_Fire says, I would go for getting the rom via HD2 Development section. I downloaded the from from HTC website and for such a small file it seemed to take ages.(Could of just been the shonkey EU server though)
Ok here we go. I read all about flashing and looked over the instruction guide. I think I am ready. I have a pot of coffee just in case.
At this point in time I have many questions but will ask as I go.
The first question I do have is what is the best ROM as far as eye candy goes with good batt life. I really want to see what this baby can do.
HTC HD 1024
Thanks all in advance
You're most likely going to get the "Try them all and see which ROM you like" answer. Which I suggest.
It would also be wise to check out the sigs of members. They keep them updated as to what ROM and radio they are currently using.
You'll enjoy flashing.

I'll be honest, Energy ROM looks nice and works well. If you get the right radio (for me its 2.12), your battery can last like 48 hours on one charge.
I am thinking I will get replys to that effect. Just so much info out there, kinda overwelmed right now.
I will flash like crazy I am sure, seems everyone loves to do it.
Wanted to start something that my friends will say OMG I want HTC. There are a lot of good posts about the energy ROM as far as batt life and such, just looking for something that has that eye candy, that my friends will ditch there providers and come to HTC, lol

Uh, you mean 1. they will ditch their manufacturer to get an HTC or 2. ditch their OS and come to windows mobile?
1. If you mean manufacturer, doubt it, hardware on other manufacturers are similar like for example Motorola.
2. I was at first reluctant to move to windows mobile. I am glad that it is easy to use and alright, but anyday I'd move to android (if they port android to HD2 within the next 3 months, i'll be happy. If not, I'll just buy project emerald or Galaxy S). I honestly believe the an Sense or standard android or the iphone will look as clean as any leo screens you see on this forum or the european HD2 forum.
Hi
I'm looking for the best Android ROM for HTC HD2?
A plain and simple ROM, much like HTC Desire.
me2 ............
Open up your phone. There should be a scavenger hunt map on how to find one. N when u find it. Make sure u throw your phone against the wall cuz it'll make it run faster.
the best rom is the one that will serve your needs better.
but you'll only know which is the one after your try some.
lucky you, there are lots of android ports here, ready to be downloaded for free.
by the way, very smart question. you're the first one to post it here, nobody never thought of it, so the search button would be useless for you anyway.
yeah me too,
and while I'm here, which is the best Winmo ROM, oh and should I sell my HD2 to buy a lawnmower? if so which lawnmower should I buy....
finally, and I'm sorry if this is in the WRONG SECTION, but which flavour ice cream should I have for dessert? sorry if you think my questions are a WASTE OF TIME.

Well this can be easily answered roms with the latest michelparamy kernel or darkstone kernel from froyostone v2. That ones use graphics patch by darkstone wich make the rom much faster.
Hands down
Get MATT C Froyo version of Android. is the most complete, stable and updated.

I have just plunged into android and I am using HTCClays SuperDesire build - I like it, but I have an issue with data connection dropping out (Vodafone UK).
So I was wondering what was another good version to try? Here is my requirements.
Good Data connection.
Camera working (seems premature flash is an issue on all builds?)
Bluetooth working
Good Battery life
Not concerned about Sense
In addition, (whilst I am re-building) does the WM Rom make any difference are there any recommendations on this (i.e Titanium only?)
Cheers
Mark.
Here is my requirements.
* No APN crash
* Camera with flash working
* Bluetooth working / contacts transfer.
* No HTC Sense
* No touch screen freezes
* Working G-Sensors
what's up with the shopping lists? open up the threads and look at the first post! they all say exactly what works/doesn't work/what to expect!
i'm not giving you a fish. go catch your own.
OMG...... another one
This is getting ridiculous now.....
This is just getting disrespectful to developers and even other XDA members! Do some reading, every ROM thread has what's working and what's not! so why give a list of your requirements, you want to be so picky, so build one yourself!
You can't make a thread in my opinion stating which is the best as they all have they uses, people have they favourites but why not go try some and see which works best for you?
I want
1.A pink pony
2.a new car
3.a new house
4.a lotto ticket worth 900,000,000,000.00 dolaars

my first build was shubcraft but version 1.3,i have to admit that i was really satisfied (in spite of some functions weren't working).then i tried desire hd build by darkstone and i felt in love with new sense.i've been using it for a month or so but is still quite buggy.from yesterday i have darstone's froyostone v 3.1 and so far everything is really good but i miss some features from new sense

lets start with asking questions in the questions forum. that way this post can be with the other 6 exact same posts from the last 2 days.
As the thread starter, I find many of the responses un-helpful.
I believe that I stated that my main issue was that data was dropping out. This was not stated as a bug in the first post, and before I put the software on my Leo I also checked a few of the final posts, which is a good way to spot any major issues.
I accept that Android is new to Leo and that there are inevitable bugs, hence me asking for advice.
Its good to see that 'Senoir Members' are so helpful ! (that was sarcasm by the way!)
Never mind with the answer I will look for myself with trial and error.
What a helpful community! (Not).
Mark.
In all seriousness, If your looking for stable data connection I would try out this build. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786809
It runs great and its RMNET so its more reliable as far as data goes, it also looks [email protected] Data is the most stable for me out of all builds. See if its the same for you.

the thread you started is inappropriate :
1. different builds work differently in different countries, cell networks. etc
2. Not a single build appeals to the likes of everyone.
3. People will only give varying and often contradicting reports of builds they tried.
RESULT:
a thread that will lead to nowhere
Dont be lazy and read up, test and give us your feedback, positive or negative.
This isn't development, so moved to general. Also, closed the thread, as there are plenty of people discussing ROMs and what works.

What I would like to know is which one is extremely stable, or are they all?

No one is going to just hand you the answer. Seriously, it will take you all of 2 or 3 hours to research what you need to know.
There is no perfect build. You are talking about an OS that was never meant to run on the HD2 running on said phone. There is always going to be something wrong or unstable about a build. It's a matter of what you can live with. So there is no true answer to your question. You'll have to pick which one you think will have the least amount of problems and cross your fingers. You might just have to keep researching even after you get his phone flashed because I'm sure you'll have to do it again.
Or you could just teach him how to do it himself because he will have to keep up on which ever build to get the latest fixes.
There are several Builds, i prefer smal ones without pre installed software.
Typhoon or so. Its fast smooth and stable. Well my dad owns a Desire HD not rooted and there is a lot of rubbish on it.
So i think you have to read the threads wich personaly fits to your friend.
