Question about resolution - Touch CDMA General

Hey guys,
Really basic question: I've always noticed that most ROMs come with a 240x320 and a 320x480 version. What's the reason for two different resolutions?
Thanks!

I am assuming that you are talking about the Android roms. Different screen resolutions are used since the roms are originally designed for higher resolution devices.

Xperia panels interface to qvga

I know everyone's been working really hard on the HTC Diamond interface to get it qvga, I was wondering if anyone's interested in trying to get the xperia's panel interface into QVGA.
Tried it...
The aspect ratio really screws things up...
(might work on the omnia better, but I don't have one to test it on, and it needs lots of little tweaks to get it to work...)
can you share the application? even for VGA i am getting an HTC Touch Diamond and i'd really like to have this feature if it can be used on it?
the dpi is 192, omnia uses 92...if someone just guide me, how to manage the OEM files, i can make a ROM for Omnia...well it is posssible to make a custom ROM for Omnia
that would be awesome.
tf3d is getting on the overrated side

The source code is also available here, if someone wants to take a crack at updating it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417214
I currently only have a pre release build from a pre-release ROM.
The DPI is fixed, as in, there are no image DLLs, and the dimensions are fixed in the applications.
It won't work on a Diamond, as the ratio is all wrong (the "W" in WVGA does - surprisingly - stand for something).
w means wvga.
wvga was 800 by 400 px while vga has 600 by 400
youre gonna have a tough time but its not impossible.
try narrowing the panels

Umm... Do you want to try narrowing the panels?
I know it's difficult, and that is why I have yet to post anything!
W means "Wide", hence the Omnia has WQVGA, or wide QVGA. Also, WVGA is 800x480, VGA is 640x480.
If we find any skins that work on the xperia for spb shell, should we post it on this thread to keep track of them?
I think a thread in the X1 forum may be a better place...

I shall upload them tomorrow.
The biggest difficulty so far is that the today plugin aspect of panels dislikes QVGA...
well works come along way on the diamond interface, and the omnia interface which is wqva is coming along way too. So maybe we could get this going. Can someone post the cab or files and we'll see what we can do.
Updates
Hey folks,
was jus wondering if there was any updates on the panels.
Btw, Omnia or X1???
No updates as of yet.
The Omnia/X1 are completely different devices, with completely different aims. If you need a keyboard, get the X1, if you don't get the Omnia!

you have to wait till tomorrow to get the answer....
They should work fine, but you might see some funky things due to the difference in screen dimensions. Since the Diamond is 480x640 and the HD is 480x800, some apps might look stretched out, and some might not fill the screen. But WinMo is WinMo no matter what device it's on, so they will function the same.

In theory.
Most wallpapers won't be the right size. I don't know if the HD will stretch them, or leave your screen with empty space.
Let us know how it goes once you have it!

Android Walls, Themes and Boot Anime Sticky!

Alright you photoshop experts, get off your lazy bottoms and get a wallpaper, themes and boot animations sticky stated! How else are the photoshopically challenged supposed to compliment their new Android OS on their HD2's!
Ok see I am using the Desire v5 rom. I asked in the mega thread if the resolution was different while in android. The reason I asked this is because I have some wallpapers I really like and I am wondering if they needed to be scaled down to fit properly.
So I'm not an expert at this but what resolution is the phone running at while in android

I don't know the resolution, but you'll need to remember that in android, the background scrolls side to side when you are on different home screens.
The same vertical pixels but the width is something like three times the normal. Atleast thats what it was for my g1, with 3 home-screens.
Im gunna see what I can get out of gimp.

Why are my icons low-resolution?

I'm running Paranoid Android 2.16 and the settings I'm using can be found in the screen shots below. I've adjusted the dpi, so maybe that has some sort of effect on the icons? The text is still very clear, but the icons appear low resolution. Maybe you guys have some suggestions how to adjust PA so that I can have the tablet interface/homescreen, small text, while maintaining high res icons? Thanks!

Also, here's a comparison with my One X.

I updated it with a comparison to my One X. I know I've become a bit spoiled with my One X, but the icons, especially on the Nexus vs just looking at a screen shot seem to be a bit blurry.
