I know everyone's been working really hard on the HTC Diamond interface to get it qvga, I was wondering if anyone's interested in trying to get the xperia's panel interface into QVGA.
Tried it...
The aspect ratio really screws things up...
(might work on the omnia better, but I don't have one to test it on, and it needs lots of little tweaks to get it to work...)
can you share the application? even for VGA i am getting an HTC Touch Diamond and i'd really like to have this feature if it can be used on it?
the dpi is 192, omnia uses 92...if someone just guide me, how to manage the OEM files, i can make a ROM for Omnia...well it is posssible to make a custom ROM for Omnia
that would be awesome.
tf3d is getting on the overrated side

The source code is also available here, if someone wants to take a crack at updating it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417214
I currently only have a pre release build from a pre-release ROM.
The DPI is fixed, as in, there are no image DLLs, and the dimensions are fixed in the applications.
It won't work on a Diamond, as the ratio is all wrong (the "W" in WVGA does - surprisingly - stand for something).
w means wvga.
wvga was 800 by 400 px while vga has 600 by 400
youre gonna have a tough time but its not impossible.

Umm... Do you want to try narrowing the panels?
I know it's difficult, and that is why I have yet to post anything!
W means "Wide", hence the Omnia has WQVGA, or wide QVGA. Also, WVGA is 800x480, VGA is 640x480.
If we find any skins that work on the xperia for spb shell, should we post it on this thread to keep track of them?
I think a thread in the X1 forum may be a better place...

I shall upload them tomorrow.
The biggest difficulty so far is that the today plugin aspect of panels dislikes QVGA...
well works come along way on the diamond interface, and the omnia interface which is wqva is coming along way too. So maybe we could get this going. Can someone post the cab or files and we'll see what we can do.
Updates
Hey folks,
was jus wondering if there was any updates on the panels.
Btw, Omnia or X1???
No updates as of yet.
The Omnia/X1 are completely different devices, with completely different aims. If you need a keyboard, get the X1, if you don't get the Omnia!

I am not too sure on which device comes with what? Obviously True VGA is better but how do you get it and why isnt it already in my device or is it?
I'm not 100% sure of your questions but I'll tell you what I know.. You're right, an XDA Exec does not come with software to make it full VGA out of the box.
I never understood why it ran in QVGA until I tried ozVGA (came pre-installed with a custom AKU 3.3 ROM) but now I know -- in VGA mode the title/softkey bars, and almost everything is VERY small. I have pretty good eyesight, and I expected everything to be small, but it's seriously small!
I've attached some screenies, but XDA-Dev resized them. You can find the native solution screenshots here:

http://www.calcaria.net/files/xdavga/ScreenShot2.png

So how do you go about making the Universal use True VGA?
it depends what rom you have.

Friends,
I've looked through hundreds of pages and can't find much that notes it is VGA compatible. Can any of you post links to shells that work with VGA? I'd love a WM7 or Diamond theme, or anything dark and attractive. A simple one with calendar and no tabs for lots of room.
Anyone?
There is less people use VGA device rite now thats why skin for VGA is only a little I just can find VGA skin at http://mobileshell.ppc-theme.com
Please if anyone have the info where I can find VGA skin for mobileshell , please share also thanks
I'm having no luck at all...

You are very positive. I am not.
Athena is about a year on the market. Universal, I guess about 2 years. Bouth support VGA. Didn't help.
Er.. you could try to edit your own theme. I own a I780 but in RealVGA mode at 96 dpi, all the layouts are messed. I did a lot of editing and came up with the basic theme running at 96dpi mode. I had also done a Diamond theme and did some modification work as well.
You could try to do it.

But HTC Touch Diamond is different you can see if anyone made a thread about "Touch Diamond" the views will be thousands so its different..hope this Diamond will really made all VGA users becomes diamond hehe
If I had a VGA Device to test with, I would support it on my themes, but unfortunately I only have qvga devices.
A friend is going to loan me his 240x240 for a couple days so I can port to that though.
need VGA
I for one very much miss VGA. I had a Dell x50v back in the day and the screen was AWESOME!
I WILL be getting the Diamond Pro (with keyboard) when it comes out in the US.

From what (little...) I understand Your main question is if Mobile Shell is VGA compatible and not about themes.
Yes, it is. I've been running it smoothly on my Eten X500+ for months now together with SPB Weather, Time and Diary. It is IMO fast and reliable and lacks almost nothing I want from a shell. I will try iContact again when someone makes it truly VGA-compatible (larger icons, buttons and text) but Mobile Shells contacts is also quick and easy to use.
Just FYI

i wonder if that would work, i mean both devices have graphic cards, same screen resolution and are made by the same folks. What do you think, do you think it can be done. Post your thoughts
I think the possiblities are pretty high.
I know if I were to get the phone that would be one of the things I would be interested in doing just because of the fact that the panels interface would have to grow up me so I would go with what I knew. Or if I wasn't to fond of the panels interface I would be trying to figure out how to use the touch HD interface.
The only thing that sucks bout the Touch HD ROM is that there won't be a US verison of the X1 and for a lot of US users it would probably be a lot of work put in to get the rom to work correctly on the X1

There wont be a US-spec Touch HD....
Either way the ability to change this to an X1 would be exactly the same as people have done porting TF3D and Manila2d. The Touch HD still uses TF3D likely with just higher resolution icons and such. Shouldn't be any different otherwise. Also, TF3d if I am correct is just a UI plugin for the Today screen on Windows Mobile. Which is basically the same thing as one of the X1 panels. I wouldn't be surprised if someone created a panel for the X1 that was very similar to TF3d, the possibility is there, just need someone to code it or attempt to port etc.
I agree and I think that it would be probably easier to build one based on the touch pro rom
I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to phones but is it possible to some how get the Samsung Omnia's TouchWiz interface on the Xperia?
that's a good question, i also want to know if this is possible
I find it quite terrible, so I don't want it .

There must be someone who has already tried it? Comeon
ive tried it but visually dont looks good because nits made for qvga but everything works perfectly fine...maybe we can ask the developer to design it for wvga
whoa i didnt know he made a wvga just read some more and seen he did make one i only tried th qvga one, ill try the wvga one tonight or something
who would want that crap on their x1? lol x1's interface is wayyyyy better!
So lately I've been seing threads, pics and vid clips of "Touchflo 3d, 2.5", but I also hear its Manila 2.5, and from the looks of it, since it lacks, animations and such, it could be a newer version of Manila.
Can someone input on this? i know that 3D does'nt work (properly) on my ELFin for the 3D drivers and graphics are really supported, but I'd really now a more "finger friendly" system like this 2.5.

the only 3d part i could really see is the clock which can be changed so its possible isnt it?
im pretty sure its not as simple as changing the clock... Im pretty sure touchflo 3d 2.5 is programed to work best on the phones its going to b released on.... such as utilizing the open GL drivers, GPU's, faster processors etc.... therefore clock or no clock we still need openGL, faster processors
i could be wrong as im not technically experienced with manila but im sure those are reasonable limitations as to why it wont appear on QVGA devices
Um...I'm pretty sure there is animation and this is like saying convert something from WVGA to VGA to QVGA. Just think. Even right now, Touch HD and rhodium manila is not even QVGA. I would say the percentage of making 2.5 qvga would be 5%. VGA would be about 50%
NRG claims to be working on this...
Considering how we barely have the TF3D2 that has been out for a few months working 100% I don't expect to see this for quite awhile.
Not because it would be hard to port but because it is VERY likely HTC hasn't even finished it yet!
That seems to be part of the problem with the TF3D2 we already have...
xbmod was kind of forced to finish it for them.
And if TF3D2 is any indication we are going to need to port a lot more than just the manila before we get a working version of 2.5
in regards to processing power. the video link posted on another thread shows it running on a firestone. if I'm not mistaken that device will have a 600mhz lump powering it so other devices may struggle. less maybe the omnIa with its big core but that'sanother resolution to port to again!!
Will the Manilla 2.5 work on Att Fuze ?
Fuze
I think it should work on the Fuze (unless OS is an issue) according to HTC the specs on the Fuze and the Touch Pro2 hardware are similar. I'm just waiting to get the touch pro2 when I can, regardless of the manila.

The new manila 2.5 is WVGA and so no, it will not work on the Fuze without being ported to VGA first.
I too have a Fuze as well as an HD. I'm sure it's easy enough to get working for the most part on the HD but the Fuze will be nearly impossible without porting first.
