I tried to download the latest O2 ROM from the HTC site, but on inputting the serial number, I was was given a message that it was not compatible with my phone. I contacted HTC Support, and they said my phone was originally branded German Vodafone. They have supplied a link to the correct ROM, but if I upgrade my phone, will it then become Vodafone branded? Further, will it remain unlocked?

Why do u wish to update to the Stock ROM Si6776 when some amazing customized ROMs are available? Are you planning to send the phone back?
If your phone is SIM Unlocked then you can add any ROM and it won't have any issues. If you are using HSPL, then your phone is ROM unlocked and not sim unlocked.
Sorry, I'm not all that technically adept. What is HSPL? I bought the phone off eBay, and it was just unlocked.
It will have the Vodafone apps etc... But if ur device is sim unlocked... it will remain sim unlocked.

I bought it in a computer center and separately choosed an operator (Bouyguestel) to work with.
I have no SIM from any other operator to check if i can access to the network. (or i have to ask a friend for it tomorow !)
Is it possible to know that by only entering my IMEI in a specialised website ?
I want to flash my P3300 with WM6 and the latest ROMs.

CID and Network are totally different things. Your device might be SIM unlocked but CID locked and vice versa. If your device is SIM locked. You have to pay some money to unlock it. If it is SIM unlocked but CID locked, it does not matter. You can put any ROM on your device as long as it is alive.

As far as I know a device is ALWAYS CID Locked until you unlock it! and with the Artemis, the only way to do this is to pay some money to www.imei-check.co.uk so as long as you did not pay them to unlock the device it is CID-LOCKED.

Thanks all for your precisions.
So i just can update my OS Rom, but if i don't want to crash my artemis, i should unlock its CID before radio or other Rom update.

My 02xda after an upgrade for wm6 stop at 02 boot screen, what can i do now???
help me please.
Hi everyone.
I have an Orange SPV M700 with WM6, Tengo Free and Tom Tom v6. All working nicely, thanks to all the help on this forum!!
I have one last problem, i have ordered a t-mobile PAYG sim card so i need to unlock my phone for it to work.
I have read the big thread about the CID unlocker and seems some people have been having problems with it uncluding myslef.
Can anyway give me the download that will work or a link to it??? I just want to to able to use t-mobile sim in my phone, but don't want to give orange £20 for privelage.
Cheers a lot guys.
As far as I've been lead to believe once you've flashed the WM6 you should be sim unlocked. That may (assuming I'm correct) be why you've had problems CID unlocking after updating as you're already unlocked.
To upgrade to WM^ i used the three files at the top pf the related thread. Not sure if any of those CID unlocked. Tried a virgin mobiel sim in it and didn't work?
Some phones won't unlock the SIM even with CID Unlockers. HTC, O2 and Voda tend to be unlocked by default; Orange and T-Mobile phones are supplied SIM locked.
I've done the WM6/Radio update and my SPV M700 remains SIM locked to Orange.
I think the only effective way over this is to pay £20 to IMEICheck for a full SuperCID Unlock. Their service is superb if you are willing to pay the price!
Download this and follow the instructions (1 step really) ... http://pof.eslack.org/trinity-unlocker/
Mine is an Orange M700, was SIM and CID locked with original Orange ROM. Ran the above unlocker and could use any SIM on Orangae ROM. Then updated with WM6 and new radio ROM and the phone is still SIM unlocked and SuperCID unlocked. No need to pay any money for this simple thing.

Cool- I'd missed that one! Know he did one for the Hermes
One thing to watch if you are paranoid about Warranties, is that this version works by updating the Radio ROM, which technically is a warranty breach (though as most Orange Techs are so ignorant about these devices, they'd probably not know anyway!)
nice am goin to give it a try
Hi
Check the link on my signature - has SIM-unlocked my Orange UK SPV M700.

You need active sync from microsoft to sync with pc, or you can just plug it in with usb and use it as a removable drive, follow the tutorial on the rom section to debrand and unlock your o2 HD2 by upgrading to the new 1.48 roms...
thanks richie,
i will download active sync now, but i have a question,
im tryng to find the rom section but i have found quite a few posts, im really confused, what is SPL??
do i just install 1.48 and that should debrand and unlock my device??
and what is goldcard???
im coming from an n97, and have been using symbian for over 5 years, so i apologize in advance
o2 will now let you unlock it,maybe for free...more info on that here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5054228&postcount=2
The latest 1.48 ROM cannot be loaded without using goldcard, on an O2 HD2.
For Windows Vista and 7, you need Windows Mobile Device Center (activesync renamed).
It on the windows mobile site to download.

Follow this thread to the letter and you won`t go wrong....
Useful info!
Chaps,
Once this has the 1.48 installed on it will it then be able to be upgraded with ROM's from the HTC site in future without the use of a GoldCard?
Or will it need to be network unlocked too?
Is this GoldCard business needed because the O2 HD2 is network locked?

For now you will need to use the goldcard method for installing the roms from HTC as they have not yet gone official..I can`t see it affecting future upgrades from the HTC site but my experience tells me that when ever i`ve had an O2 branded HTC device the HTC website won`t allow downloads from there site when you have to enter your serial number. You have to wait for O2 to release there own version of the update which NEVER happens....
Hence why i ended up at this brilliant site.
thanks guys, im going to follow the goldcard method,
will there be such another method without goldcard in the near future? im not even sure what goldcard is to be honest
will debranding to 1.48 unlock the phone as well?? or not ??
i have submitted the unlock phone request form on o2's website but am just wondering if the new rom will unlock the phone?

Thanks Richie, that's a very comprehensive answer!
Hey, I've got an O2 branded phone which was unlocked using the unlocking website (€22 it cost). Using a 3 UK sim and I'm wanting to get rid of O2's branding.
I've downloaded "RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe"
My question is will this ROM remove the branding and do I need to use the goldcard with this or is this a shipped rom (that I can just update using the exe)?
Many thanks,
Ross.

Okay cool, card prepared and rom loaded on.
Is this the best rom to use at this moment? Just waiting for the battery to charge > 80%
Branding is cosmetic, I can live with that. Network locking prevents the use of another network's SIM cards and is the real problem. I recently bought an O2 branded HD2 on ebay, and I am not an O2 subscriber. Whilst I have read on other threads that O2 now offer unlock codes for free, it seems unlikely that they will do this for a non-subscriber. So I have been trying the commercial unlockers, of which there are many. Of the four tried so far, all have been unable to calculate an unlock code for my EMEI no. To be fair, three of them immediately refunded what I had paid them. So now I am stuck with O2. I would like to understand this situation better. Is my phone just too new, in which case I just need to be patient? Is it something worse? Any comment would be welcome.
BTW reflashing to a stock or cooked ROM does NOT remove network locking.
I'm on Vodafone UK and the HTC UK ROM upgrade thats just been released, when I put my serial in says it not for my device, I have checked with Vodafone and they say my phone has a custom ROM and I will void my contract/warranty if I use anything but a Vodafone approved ROM upgrade but they have no date or idea if they will release one !!!!!!!
H alan..
I was under the assumption that the phone was locked to the provicer (vodafone).
Meaning that you only could upgrade to and from a vodafone rom.
The customer service told you that you where using a "custom" rom.
And that is not entirely true. But it is true that you have to "hack" the phone to get other roms working on it.
If you Have issues. And need the warranty.

This is the main tech/repaircenter that HTC is using.

Well, if you start flashing other roms it usually breaks warranty yeah. If you need warranty though for an issue and the phone is still working you can usually flash back the stock rom and they shouldn't have a problem.
Did it that way with the HTC Touch Pro, flashed tons of custom roms and hspl. Once needed warranty for the keyboard, flashed back stock rom and hspl and all was fine.
It still IS risky though, if your phone is bricked you're usually screwed... And if they somehow find out they DO have the right to refuse warranty.
In another post someone quoted from the T&C's and it excluded official updates from the manufacturer, i.e. download the rom upgrade from HTC (assuming it works with locked voda) you are ok! Downloading cooked roms is bad! Though if you are able to restore to a stock ROM they won't be able to tell

Direct from Vodafone
Change your serial if you want to download the ROM from HTC UK support site:
for Vodafone devices the serial number will be something like:
HT9Bxxxxxxxx
Change the bx part to AZ and it will let you download the WWE UK rom.
Bear in mind that this WILL void your warranty with Vodafone but NOT with HTC.
Hey everyone!!
Today I got my HD2
I saw a ROM update on the HTC site. It was posted on 02-02-2010.
When I enter my serial number it says the update is not for me (I'm sure I filled in the correct one).
Is this because my phone is from Vodafone (splash screen en shutdown screen show Vodafone logo)?
Is it possible to install this official ROM? (I don't mind to lose the Vodafone screens) How could I do this.
I want to keep my phone in dutch.
Let me know, I know you could help me!!!
has your phone already got an up to date rom? you can download official rom's in the leo rom development forum

Hi, yes, you are correct. You should get your rom upgrades from Vodafone.
However we all know how bad carriers are at releasing upgrades, so consider hspl2 and then you can flash the rom of your choice. (official or not)
But isn't it possible to get an official HTC rom?
At this moment I prefer to have an official rom on my new phone.
For an official Vodafone ROM update, ask them. The ROM on the HTC site is also official. Not for your phone tho.

no because your handset is branded to vodafone, the offical updates are for non branded phones
I had a same problem!
Just bought an HTC HD2, in hungary, but it has a "hungarian rom 1.48.479.1" on it, with SPL 1.42.0000
But, i cant upgrade any roms, my PN number last 3 number is 042, so this htc hd2 is came from a german vodafone. (htc . com says, no upgarde for this pdaphone yet)
Still have 2 years of warranty.
So is it possible, to get an 1.66 official rom on it, with hspl2? and if i need my warranty, can i "un/install" to 1.42 SPL to not lose my warranty? If is it possible, i will use hspl2 if i need my warranty, and i will use that german 1.66 rom that just came out (vodafone . de)
Answer pls, and yea, i know my english is sucks.
