Hello guys, I'm from Brazil and got the title cellphone!
BUT, when I insert my SIM, it reads my contacts and all, even show me the voice message that I have on my voicemail, but it doesn't connect on my provider network. It's called Oi.
It even sees other providers networks like TIM and Claro, but not Oi!
Please someone help me!
Oh, I'm from Brazil!
Please read Stickies on ROM dev section, regarding the CID unlocking etc.
Thanks for the co-operation.
Check the network bands your operator gives you and the bands your device recieve.
Also make sure you are not on 3G bandwidth.

i have recently bought an xda exec that is blocked to uk networks.
will a three network sim work in it?,has anyone tried?
If it's blocked to UK networks, it's ALL UK networks sorry...
When you say "blocked" do you mean that it is IMEI blacklisted or that there is a network lock on the phone that stops you using UK SIMs?
If it is IMEI blocked you're stuck. I haven't read of an IMEI change solution for the Universal yet, but that is illegal anyway (prison sentence illegal, not just a smack on the wrist).
If your phone is SIMlocked you can use the unlocking tool on Buzz's site to disable all locks.
the phone is unlocked, but says no sevice,if i put in a virgin sim it has a signal but you cant make calls.
Thats good then,, its unlocked but Virgin doesnt have settings for the Universal yet so your a little stuck other then that try flashing it with Tmobiles ROM that may help as Virgin is a sub group of Tmobile

please don't post answers like this when you don't know what you're saying to be 100% true.
a) ROMs don't affect gsm service - it's all contained in the SIM (that's what SIMs are specifically for). every rom of a particular version of wm has the same phone program - just different skins.
b) gsm communication is standard across all handsets - there are no "settings for universal" other than for MMS and a few other things (which are not the subject here)
c) virgin rent bandwidth from a number of companies including t-mobile (i.e. they are a virtual provider)
Dear friends
i have a unlocked HTC 8525 !! i am in brazil and can't get the sim card here working with my phone. i can see the sim menu and everything but the phone only says no service . i try'd to change the network under phone/menu/option

Help me please
Hi DJFuscao,
I have an HTC Tytn that I regularly use in Brazil (Sao Paulo) since oct 2006.
I´m not sure if I will be really able to help you, but I´ll try to give you at least some information about my experience.
I believe that sometimes autodetect network does not work properly. You may try to change these settings:
- Settings-->(Personal Tab)-->Phone-->(Band tab)--> Select your Network type: change this to GSM
- Settings-->(Personal Tab)-->Phone-->(Band tab)--> Select your GSM/UMTS band: GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100)
I have also experienced some problems some months ago when VIVO activated their GSM network. It simply stopped working, kept searching but did not find TIM´s network.
What I have done then:
- I have changed from Automatic Network Selection to Manual (you will find this option on "Settings-->(Personal Tab)-->Phone-->(Network tab)--> Network Selection".
- then I tried to click on Find Network on the same screen
- I chose TIM from the list
It has not worked at the first atempt because there were some different options for TIM on the list but it has eventually worked.
Another thing I would check is if it works with any other GSM carrier from Brazil. If you can borrow a SIM from some friend this could also give you some clue.
You may also find some specific information about HTC 8525 phones in Brazil on the link below:

Good luck!
Hi,
I recently bought a HTC Surround (AT&T), im from Costa Rica and we don't have AT&T as a carrier.
The phone works great with the GSM band but when i try to look for any 3G settings (using 850Mhz band) i cant find any options.
According to an article in the internet (i cant post any links yet) there should be an option called "Mobile Network" where i can turn the 3G on or off, so im guessing AT&T disabled the option (phone doesn't have any 3G sign on the sign bar at the top just the antenna bars).
Is there any way to Unlock the 3G options on this phone?
Thank you.
Help me out a little with your request. The place to turn on/off data is under cellular in the settings page. However, I haven't found "Mobile Network" on mine. However, I did download HTC Connection Setup which allowed the phone to search for various carriers and automatically set up the connections. That program is in Marketplace under HTC apps.
BTW, is your phone SIM unlocked?
Thank you for answering ...Sure ill help you with what ever you need... we might be able to narrow down my problem... lets see
1. HTC connection: yea i tried the app actually i have it installed on my phone but its giving me a message saying "Carrier doesnt exist in the data base" that i need to go a create apn (isnt that for phone internet). so i cant use the application, our carrier here is called I.C.E.
2.The band Costa Rica is using for 3G is the 850MHz. my SIM card is linked to a GSM account (1900 MHz) but the phone should be able to recognize the band tho, isnt that right?
3.how do i know if my phone is sim lock? i just placed my GSM SIM card inside and its working, do i need to try with a different card?
4. how does 3G works in this phone? is it configurable?
I'm pretty sure you are going to have to configure an APN for it to use 3G. As for band switching, I don't think it's possible with the current interface (at least on AT&T). Perhaps there are some registry entries that we will soon be able to access when some of the WP7 developers make headway, but right now, there is nothing of which I'm aware. If you can call on your network, the phone is already SIM unlocked, so no need to worry there.
I found some nice info about switching 3G or 2G etc... which it helps but i think it didnt work on mine.
Does anyone know how to set the HD7 (or surround) to 3G only?
Dialer> ##3282# Call > Settings > 3G only.
But in my case what i saw after that was that all the antenna bars were gone and then it went into no service then picked up signal again. After checking the settings after dialing again it was set to automatic again and if a switch it to 3G only it does the same thing again.
So im guessing it didnt work, ill try to talk to my carrier and see if we can create an APN to handle the 3G.
Is there a chance that the 3G feature is locked by AT&T?
Thanks for all your help if by any chance you find out something else i will appreciate the help.
Well apparently i got it fixed my phone seems to be working on 3G right now, i have the 3G sign on the top bar.
To make the story short.
I just configured my internet, added the roaming options and then tried again ##3282# only 3G and it worked now its showing 3G next to the antenna bars.
Thank you jwzg for your help.
Can not change the language

No, you don't have to do any special configuration. I think TMobile bands for 3G are different frequencies from ATT, so sadly, I think you are never going to be able to have 3G connection on your Surround while you are on TMobile. Regards.
mmmmm tmobile used different bands
mmmmm input to sim movistar in htc, rigth in connection setup appers to configuracion of Nicaragua chance to Costa Rica and input sim ice connection don´t exist in data base... :-( mms is not working!!!
I have an unlocked motorola Droid pro. Im using it with a vodafone sim in Egypt.
voice calls and sms are working fine, the problem is that there is no Data.
I added the Apn Settings manually but it won’t work.
in the Info Screen it reads:
"GSM Service: In service
GPRS Service: Disconnected
State: Dcinactivestate
Disconnected with last try at 1:20 pm
Fail because Unknown data error."
The reason is because the only radio Band is USA,
On other android phones i have they have more than one band.
Can I flash another radio band on the droid pro?
any advise please
You can't. I have the same problem in Kuwait.
Other users are having the same issue in other countries (Netherlands) and one user did not even get calls or SMS in Hong Kong.
I'll supply you later with a link to my problem on the Motorola support forums, you can then report your problem, maybe Motorola will take an action.

My thread is called No data connection abroad.
Thread for the Hong Kong dude: "Sim Unlocked Droid Pro does not work with China Mobile sim card or in Hong Kong".
(P.S. I'm from Egypt too. I'm really pissed the Vodafone data aint working. Try Etisalat and Mobinil too and tell me what you'll get).

Ive already sent to Motorola they haven't replied yet.
I tried an etisalat sim and it actually worked! Only edge no 3g
i hope Motorola can provide a new radio band that will resolve this issues
Does the Etisalat SIM give you 3G speeds on other Android phones?
This could be configuration issue.
Did you make sure that the Network Type is Auto?
Go to Settings -> Wireless -> Mobile Networks -> Select Network, and make sure the selected option is "Automatic Default".
Uncon, check this thread: https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/43887?tstart=0
I already mentioned your case there.
Update: You can also try to flash the SBF file & hard reset afterwards, that solved the problem for some people.
Yes it the etisalat sim was in my old hero and it has 3G speeds.
I will change my Vodafone sim today maybe it will be a sim issue.
Thanks for your support.

dont put your hopes up for a fix from motorola
here is there reply:
Thanks for reaching out to Motorola. I’ve reviewed your e-mail and I’m ready to help.
If you could not connect to the internet by manually adding the APN of the Service Provider on your Motorola DROID Pro, it might not be compatible with the network. You have to use the WiFi feature of the phone instead. I'm so sorry for that inconvenience.
We hope that you find this information useful and look forward to assisting you in the future.

The issue is turning out to be quite common, so we're yet to see about their response.
Keep me updated about your trials with the new Vodafone SIM and the Etisalat SIM, thanks
Uncon,
I tried with a Wataniya SIM card (some other provider here in Kuwait) and data connection was successful once I defined the settings, with the H icon showing and all, indicating the maximum possible connection speed. My stupid Zain card is still not working though.
How about you?
Mine is working fine at china unicom, some of my friends use china mobile, they have no problem with sms or data, too. Just few can't unlock.

hi there i put an Etisalat sim in my defy (CM7) but no signal , so after searching n asking i knew i have to use Baseband Switcher and change something in my radio? would you please tell me what to do im newbie thanks alot
it all depends on your country and network.
In Australia we have 3 networks.
Telstra, Optus and vodaphone I think the other is.
Now there are heaps of mobile carriers but they will use one of these networks. Telstra is the easiest as they wont off sell there network to any other carrier. Optus and vodafone how ever they will sell them off to all the other carriers and what carrier uses what is up to them.
Your best bet is to ring your carrier ask what network they use and you should be able to find it in the baseband switcher.
If that fails google the carriers for your country and try them all in the switcher one is sure to work

You may also need to Carrier unlock (CID) your phone in order to use the new SIM card on another provider.
Thanks guys , its solved the sim was broken .. stupid i know he bought new sim and all good
