Get FroYo Root With z4root App
If you’re finding FroYo a bit of a pain to root, XDA forum member RyanZA can fix that for you with his rooting app z4root.
z4root ia an Android application that has a single button that will root your device. The XDA dev claims that z4root should work on ALL Android devices, and has requested that you please leave a note if it works or doesn’t work on your device.
Additionally, the XDA dev claims that the app should be 100% safe and that nothing on disk is changed besides the root binaries. If something should go wrong, a simple reboot should fix up any issue.
For more information and to download the apk, head on over to the application thread. Note that currently the app is only available as a sideloadable apk, but with further testing it will be available on the Market.
and here's the link to the forum thread.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
Saw this last night. Does anyone know for sure if this will work on 3.30? Co-worker wants me to root for him but I definitely don't want to brick somebody else's phone!

Hi people,
I've just got my sgs i9000, but it's still running 2.1!!
And it's running BVJM1..
How do I go about getting it to 2.3?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
as i understand it 2.1 and 2.2 are the same(in the upgrade method to 2.3) so as i see it you have 2 options.
1. do it with kies.
2. upgrade to gingerbread stock or any custom rom with odin so to get the gingerbread bootloaders.
here is a link to a guide to get gingerbread 2.3.4

I just went last night and switch from Tmobile with the G2x to AT&T with the Atrix. So far I like the Atrix but I had my G2x rooted with superoneclick and I was wondering if I can root the Atrix with superoneclick. I did a search on here and found this
HOW TO ROOT YOUR DEVICE ON ANDROID 2.3.4:
Follow the instructions in this post:
forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15872818
or
These Instructions:

*Note: Many of the ROMs you may wish to install, after your boot loader is unlocked, will also include a ROOT package. Check the indiviual ROM OP to make sure though.
superoneclick is alot easier to root that is why i'm asking.
Check the noob guide under " stickies ", really, everything is in there.
