My guess is that besides Europe and US. All other countries are shipped with 1.48x Roms and hence it is not considered an upgrade?
Because we are unofficial beta testers of "offical" roms.
This is like phase IV Clinical Trials..

In fact Phase IV are coming after market approval, it is rather phase III trial

Offtopic but I am seeing this more as post marketing surveillance. The previous versions (with trial written in boot screen) look more than phase III. These roms have no "beta or trial" signs, they are also starting to distribute these versions slowly in some languages, but before generalizing the release, introducing an official WWE upgrade, they want a massive number of users to test some rare adverse reactions = bugs.
Singapore are shipped with 1.48 ROM
Mine got shipped with 1.43. On the UK site there still isn't an official link for 1.48.

*yet* i think is the word you missed there
All the HTC 1.48 ROMs I saw where TEST ROMs and not shipped ROMs. I moved the thread as this is not the forum to ask general questions, please keep that in mind,

so all the 1.48 Roms on HTCPedia are beta ROMs? Because mine was shipped with the 1.43 ROM and I have non of the bugs the 1.48 claim to fix (my calendar is fine in week-mode, no jitter or else, just sense is sometimes a little laggy on the start page).
my is shipped 1.43.413.2(70124)SVE swedish version and is full with bugs!!!

Mine was shipped with 1.48 Greek and all the HD2 with Greek language are 1.48
My second UK O2 unit shipped to me 10 days ago with 1.43.206.4 (70315)...
It's literally taken me 7 days tweaking to get this phone up to spec and running as I like, does anyone know if the FW update will delete the whole lot?
I really can't be bothered to go through all that again!
Yes, updating your FW completely resets your phone. Bit of a pain really.

I hope the final 1.48 version (mine also shipped with 1.43 three days ago) will eliminate this damn stupid sms bug (loading all the conversation before we can start typing)....
And I will not install any test roms, as tweaking everything again and again is really pain in the ass... Maybe I someday find out how to build one monster-cab with all the tweaks I wish

Where did you buy the device with Greek stock ROM?
Can anyone confirm that this is actually an official 1.48 ROM ?
I found this on htcpedia.com website.

I've already got 1.48, not got round to flashing it.

anyone know if this will void my warranty?

Bought my Hd2 from Mobiles.co.uk; it is on vodafone but is unlocked and comes shipped with the 1.48 ROM
I would like to upgrade to 1.66 but don't know if that would void my warranty.
I have emailed a few times to ask but no reply [they reply swiftly to other questions!].
Never used this company before so have no idea on this matter.
Thanks

If the 1.66 is shipped ROM and you can update with no errors then you ok. No worries. Any way you always can return to your 1.48.
sorry what do you mean when you say "if the 1.66 is shipped ROM"?
It shipped to me with 1.48....

Shipped are official developed from HTC. Not custom roms made by Xda user for example.
Ah. Okay thanks
you will be fine so long as the updated rom doesn't require hspl or gold card to instal. assuming you simply put your serial into the htc website, and download the rom and instal it, no problem.
besides, it's easy to downgrade back to where you started.
Wigwam,
By Shipped Rom he means an official ROM on the HTC website. If you use that then you will NOT void your warranty.
Are you running a standard rom or a customised rom by Vodafone? If the former then fine, if the latter then you might want to find a copy of the original rom as a backup jut in case you have to return the phone as, say, faulty, with the original rom on.
WB
Thanks guys. I understand standard phones direct from Voda ONLY ship with the 1.43 rom. I have no voda splash screen/branding etc and the only thing voda-branded is a folder when I click the windows button.
I am assuming I am going to lose this folder when I do the upgrade [not sure what use it will be to me as my SIM is still inactive so not actually able to use my new phone as a phone yet hence I do't know if I will need anything in this folder lol!]

My ROM & Radio Versions.

Had my HD2 about 10 days now and its on o2. Just wanted to ask the more experienced members about my version numbers.
Here they are:
ROM Version: 1.43.206.4 (70315) WWE
Radio Version: 2.04.50.22_2
I was wondering how up to date they were and whether I would benefit from updating the ROM?
A Bit Of History: My phone prior to this was the Omnia i900. I tried to flash the ROM on that with the help and advice of some users from the MoDaCo forum. Basically I screwed up, and the phone had to be sent to a Samsung Repair Centre. I was without it for 2 whole weeks! I felt like topping myself!!
While I would be very hesitant to attempt to flash again, it is something I have to consider over the medium to long term just for the sake of keeping the phone up to date.
rom 1.43 is about as out of date as a 6 month phone can be. problem is that o2 still haven't released an update. (current official updates are 1.66 and/or 1.72 for some other countries/carriers.)
personally I've been using cooked roms based on version 2.10 and radio 2.08 for weeks....... light years ahead off the o2 stock rom.

Thx for the reply.
I'm still inside my 14 day return period. Would you recommend returning the phone? Would an unlocked phone be better rather than one locked to o2? If so, I'm more than willing to do this. Or is it possible to unlock this phone yourself?
I notice on the HTC support page there is a UK 1.48 ROM update. Would anyone recommend this?
Yeh if it worked, start to get the flashing itch myself, after 5 months of having it
o2 are how to say crap at releasing updates. If you can buy this unlocked, i know i wish i had...

Stuck on Ruu 2.1 update

I'm trying to update to 2.1 til this morning but I still suck with my custom id checking. I tried wwe RUU, Indian one and I'm going to launch the Hong kong one but I'm not sure. Can anybody help me bypass this trouble?
Ps: I found all the ruu.exe at shipped roms.
