Coming soon!
In the meanwhile you can vote (post) if you want the packages to be initflashfiles (fast and uses only the minimum possible space on the ROM but requires dozens more files in the kitchen and is not future-proof) or provxml based (one file for all unless the application name is localized and never misses start menu on unsupported languages but is slow and wastes a couple kb on the ROM).

Idea
j11, the owner of riot.ru, got BLifePlugin on his smartphone and asked me for a PocketPC version of this plugin for his HTC TyTN.
I was too lazy to support a PocketPC configuration of the plugin. Well, my next idea was better and much more useful (I hope).
Description
PluginAdapter is a PocketPC Today plugin and can “host” virtually any MS Smartphone homescreen plugin that doesn’t use smartphone-specific features of windows mobile.
PluginAdapter has only one variable to set: homescreen XML file path. You can change it with your favourite registry editor at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\PluginAdapter\HomeXMLFilename (REG_SZ)
If this value is absent, the file
\My Documents\PluginAdapter.home.xml
will be used.
This XML file is an ordinary smartphone homescreen xml with one restriction: you can have only one <plugin> defined (current version doesn’t support more). You should leave default, scheme, etc. intact because color scheme, fonts, padding and many more are defined there.
Interface
PluginAdapter doesn’t have its own interface except that one little information box displayed when first Action event occurs (see below).
Compatibility
Plugin will work on touchscreen devices running Windows Mobile 2002 or later (PocketPC or Phone Edition).
All tests were passed with PocketPC emulator (Windows Mobile 2003) because I do not have PocketPC. Some guys reported that PluginAdapter works well on Q-Tek S100 (Windows Mobile 2003 SE), HTC TyTN (WM5), Acer n311 (WM5). I used my BLifePlugin as a guest smartphone plugin for all tests (installation package contains both the PluginAdapter and BLifePlugin, version 0.3).
ATTENTION!!!
This project is currently in Beta stage, please report bugs and suggestions at this topic at modaco.com.
At the download page you may find a debug-logging-enabled version of adapter which can help me to solve problems. Log is saved to \My Documents\PluginAdapter_xx.log. I would be appreciated if your bug reports will be accompanied with log file! Thank you!"

[Workaround] Have Media Panel recognize synced Playlists

I don't know how the majority of you sync music to your X1s, but I've been using Windows Media Player (Desktop version) to sync all of my previous HTC phones, and figured that it would be the best way to sync my new X1 too. The issue is, as I'm sure most of you have found, that Windows Medial Player syncs playlists to the phone in .asx format, which happens to be unreadable for the media panel.
This is pretty unacceptable... (Please let me know if the newer media panel fixes this issue). So I've come up with two workarounds for you guys to choose from. The first is involves a program called "Playlist Editor". The second involves using the pay app, "CorePlayer".
Playlist Editor is a simple playlist manager for use on our devices, it allows you to save your non-compatible asx playlists in a multitude of compatible formats. Download it here
Just navigate to your playlist (even though there isn't any text that shows up, use the left softkey to go up a directory) and then goto the "Save As" menu from the program.

CorePlayer as most of you know is a robust media player, with the added feature of being able to re-save a playlist in an alternative format. Navigating it is a bit more complicated however, but it doesn't balk at any of my playlists like Playlist Editor has for a few. Here are the steps.
Step 1: Goto File>>Open>> Navigate to your playlist
Step 2: Goto Database view, and navigate to the virtual folder containing your playlist
Step 3: Click the Database softkey, and click Store As Playlist
BTW, please post if you have a more automatic solution.

As long as I know, the new MXP panel can handle desktop playlists
So with this program it's finally possible to creat playlists on the computer for the xperia media panel
@getrab
It can, but it's buggy. Some playlists are always shown as empty, I don't know why.

Old Internet Explorer in WM 6.5?

Hi everyone,
Is there anyway to install the OLD version of Internet Explorer (the one that came with WM 6) in the new 6.5? I am actually hoping for a side-by-side install.
Before you all think I am crazy… here is the deal.
I am a software developer and have a number of highly functional web applications (for entering orders, invoices, etc - see screen shots) that integrate with a number of popular ERP systems.
However, some of them are breaking in the new IE6. I cannot afford to not be able to demo these apps.
Best regards,
The Fish

Here is a cab file IE6. Credit goes to vin255764. I found this on one of the threads over at PPCGEEKS.
Does anyone know how i can install this and the newer version that came with 6.5 together? I tried installing this cab and it removed IE6 and replaced it with 5.
The reason i want both is that for most of the sites I look at I absolutely HATE having no "fit to one column" feature so i can only scroll vertically.
Thanks
In case anyone was interested, the above CAB file only sets one registry key to "0" (to switch to IE5 mode) or "1" to switch to the new IE6 (as in WM6.5).
The key is:
HKLM\Security\Internet Explorer
"MSHTML" = 0 or 1
Just kill the Iexplore.exe task and rerun it to run in the new mode!
You could even create two mort scripts that each have its own shortcut, and depending on which shortcut you launch, will have mortscript change this reg key and then launch IE in that mode.
P.S. A BIG thank you goes out to microsoft for adding this backwards-emulation to the new IE6 - great work!

Video playing problem

Hi,
Recently I made a Registry cleanup with Pocket Mechanic and since then when I try to play video file I get "No combination of intermediate filters could be find to make the connection" error messages popping over and over. The only way to stop them is to pull the battery. Can someone tell me what to do? I try everything I know, install WM5 and WM9 Codecs, tcpmp, MobileMedia center, DivX Player but nothing helps!! The phone is HTC Touch Diamond 2 with WM6.1 Original rom.
Help please!!
It probably wiped some file associations in the reg and unfortunately you'll have to hard reset to get them back.
Not in file associations!

The problem isn't in FA! I checked them already..
.3gp - HTCAlbum.exe "%1"
.avi - WMPlayer.exe "%1"
.mp4 - HTCAlbum.exe "%1"
.gif - HTCAlbum.exe "%1"
.jpg - HTCAlbum.exe "%1"
I can see the pictures and listen mp3s, but video not!
Still no help from no one Please it is important!
Did you hard reset?

The hard reset I'm keeping for the last thing that I'll do....
After googling a bit, I came across a thread with some registry entries mentioned:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DirectShow\MediaObjects\6b928210-84e7-4930-9b33-1eb6f02b526e
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DirectShow\MediaObjects\d23b90d0-144f-46bd-841d-59e4eb19dc59
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DRM.GetLicense.1\Insertable
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WMPlayer.OCX.7\Insertable
It seems Pocket Mechanic deletes certain reg entries that it deems "empty", whereas these are apparently needed to play certain media files. I got the impression this was fixed 2-3 years ago though. The thread this comes from is here: http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/tips-tricks/133089-registry-tampering-media-player.html Might be something worth looking at before you hard reset

FINALLY Easy Method for CUSTOM Ringtone in HTC HD7 !!!!!!!

Making your own tones
But we know many of you have a particular ringtone in mind—or sound files already on your PC that you’d like to turn into one. In Mango, we give you the flexibility to do this yourself—with some important caveats. To qualify as a ringtone, a sound file must be:
1. 39 seconds or shorter
2. smaller than 1 megabyte (MB)
3. saved in MP3 or WMA format
4. not copy-protected (i.e. DRM free)
In short, custom ringtones can be installed using the Zune software on your PC. Once you’ve created an audio file that meets the ringtone requirements, find it in your Zune music collection, right-click the file, and change the Genre field to Ringtone. Then just sync the file to your phone like you would any music track.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Don’t worry: items marked Ringtone won’t show up in your phone’s music collection—so there’s no need to fear that during a workout you’ll suddenly hear your dog barking or other homemade ring. Instead, you’ll see them in Ringtones + Sounds in Settings, under a new Custom category we’ve created.
god very nice solution, thank youuuu. it s better short way to make your own ringtones.
This trick was posted in WP7 forum at begining of September. Can be used only on Zune 4.8 final.
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
you can use any MP3 editor to change the Genre to ringtone as well...
I use MP3Tag
very good these tips parabens.
Does this work on alerts as well? I.e. Change the genre to ALERT?
