does anyone know the qik app on the evo....does it work for hd2....
Evo = Android
HD2 = Windows
Do you think they will work together?
QIK is on the Omarket, for Windows phones but it doesn't work on the HD2
Had QIK on my Omnia II which is WM6.5, so in essence it should be possible to get it working on HTC.
But http://bambuser.com/ seems to work fine with HD2.

Yeah there's been a working version for the TP2 for a while now, QIK just needs to get off their butts and certify it so it'll work on the HD2. *ahem*
Have you tried bambuser.com yourself yet phantoms? It doesn't say it's supported, but of course that doesn't mean it won't work I may give it a shot myself in a few min

On this the 1st day of April in the year of our Lord 2010 I become a total fool. I even end up lying to myself.
today, mine is running the iPhone software that i have hacked onto it. but soon i will remove it because it is rubbish and only uses about a quater of the screen
lol no os 10.6?
i just opened the android market because the tmo store guy told me i could and downloaded all the apps on my hd2
And I just managed to run the worlds first working tricoder software, made exclusively for HD2 by NASA.
Funny, I have tried to scan Iphone with it, but its says nothing is there...
I've just installed some software that alows you to use your HD2 as a can opener by turning the camera flash LED into a powerful laser.
My HD2 works perfectly.
i hacked my camera and now its working as a mobile beamer!
with hd resolution

What a wonderfull day
My SMS was send without problems, and I am not suprised ... because:
"Keeping in touch has always been very important, and HTC delivers fast and reliable SMS messaging."
When we'll have working WM rom for HD2? Tired of these android/linux roms
Today I installed Windows Mobile 8.3.5 with hypertouch support and mind reader, plus I use the camera as an holoprojector and I emulate perfectly the Xbox360

Funniest so far!
This is not the version that's on android market! It will only work on the 3Uk network! Not officially available from 3. Works on desire, nexus & so on...
pisses me off that Skype has become provider specific!
Thank you very much, this is the app that i'm waiting for.
i guess it was to be expected since it is for "3", but i tried it anyway...
it tells me to disable wifi then can't connect to my account *shrug*
Is this actually *real* Skype, i.e. voice over IP, or is it still that cobblers that still uses the voice network and calls a telephone number?
I can confirm that it does not work for 3 Ireland.
I know you said it wouldn't.

I've been on Skype since it was beta and spent loads with them. I think it's really poor that I can't use skype on my desire with T-Mobile.

I agree completely. I think its wrong that I could use Skype on my old Nokia over 3g with no issues whatsoever yet I can't on a brand new phone!

Brilliant, thank you!
This is a bit of an odd question, but please bare with me here.
I'm writing my thesis for the uni about C#... with the recent release of VS2010, I thought it'd be great to focus on this IDE and the new features it offers and put those in the thesis as well. I ALSO had an idea to show that one can write apps for mobile devices using C# (duh, but all's fair in the academic world ); I own a HD2, so being able to whip out the phone and show the app working would be a great way to blow some academic minds (well, not really, but I think it'd be nice).
However... VS2010 doesn't support WMo 6.X, which is a serious bummer. There are some rumours that an SDK will be released, but if and when that will happen remains a mystery.
So this leaves me WMo7, which has already been ported to HD2. However, it seems it's not public just yet. And besides not being public, WMo7 will supposedly only allow apps to be installed through MS store... so I have no idea if it'll be possible for me to write an app for that OS and actually use it (it won't be commercial in any way and 100% useless for 99% of people, as it only serves as a live example for my thesis).
To summarize:
- Is is possible for a "basement-programmer" like myself to use WMo7 to show off my own apps without the use of the MS store?
- If so, where could I get my hands on WMo7 for HD2?
- If WMo7 is not available to us mortals, could someone tell me roughly when a public release will be available?
- Or perhaps the whole idea is pointless and I should just develop my app in VS2080 and show it off with the HD2 that I currently own? (It's will be a simple app that connects to some database online without being limited to MSSQL and does something with it, where "something" is yet unspecified)

assume currently it wont be available for the HD2, if it is then it wont be available until a few months after the release of wp7

AKAIK it hasnt, there is a rom available but it doesnt run on any current device since its a beta rom for an unreleased device.
there is a chance they may get it working on the HD2 or some other phone but its not available currently.

So... the whole thing about W7 having been ported to HD2 was just a rumour?
I am not sure where you heard that winmo had been ported too hd2? is a link available.
I have just checked Da_G's twitter account and he is still working on the port, he has developed several new tools too help him but is struggling to get some stuff to do with the JTAG controller.
there is a hd2 application which attempts to reimplement some of the functions you can see in the wp7 promo videos but this is not a port it is just an application that looks like wp7.

write your app under 2008 and for 6.5, there hasn't been any word from the source of that rumour for months. C# code is very portable between 2008 and 2010, so don't worry about that. With a little work (can be on the order of hours) you can upgrade your code to 2010 and 7.0 if it ever arrives for HD2.
uuum.. u can show windows phone 7 with a emulator on a pc.. and i think ms released the windows phone 7 tools to programm apps for it alerady..
http://developer.windowsphone.com/Default.aspx
dont know if its possible to just run the app without the market.. i hope it is, but really dont know >.<
and its impossible to port wp7 to the HD2 right now. yes, it already happened, but that version is very laggy and buggy, so its useless when u want to show it
Anyone use it yet? Whats the picture like?

I have it on my phone and it works well with 3G or H and I also notice it streams better with radio 2.11.50.20, very smooth. I'm waiting for Sling to make it specifically for HD2, I'm using the TP 2 SW.
It sucks that the slingplayer software has the display orientation wrong though. When in fullscreen "landscape" mode it needs to be flipped 180 to agree with the rest of the media player type apps for winmo.
I have Verizon Wireless Router. How good will a slingbox work on this and when I am out, can I connect to my TMobile connection?
Thanks

I have it in my Tmous HD2 and works fine. I have installed the TP2 version. In my opinion is the best way to watch tv. in the phone.
I recently purchased the slingbox and works well with hd2 over wifi, but i am having problem viewing over 3g. I have tmous hd2 stock rom. Any help very well appreciated.
I have it (slingbox pro HD) and am using the free sling mobile software for about 2 weeks now. Works great. I am actually amazed how good it works when I am out and around and it is using the 3g here in so-cal!

Found this in the real WP7 forums. To me this makes copy and paste secondary.
Looks like the there are good things to come with the mango update. Just have to wait for the release now and then hope that the devs get it running on our HD2s
Yeah, the multitasking looks great.... similar to how webOS did it. I saw about this a couple days ago. Can't wait til it's working on our HD2s.

I haven't heard anything about this... where did you hear that. I don't think MS will waste their time worrying about the small percentage of HD2 users using wp7.

no itisn't , it s blocking ''chevron.exe'' but we can edit the rom to look like hd7 before inistalling it on our hd2 so we won't chevron.exe anymore
IE9 uses hardware acceleration for it to run smooth HTML5. Do our HD2's even have that hardware?
aye, we do have quite a good 3D chip built in, Wm6 would have been amazing if it could have been used! drivers being the issue.
But anyway assuming it will even install it will be just fine as it uses the same GPU as the HD7

In terms of hardware the HD2 is equal or superior (more RAM than the Optimus 7 and Omnia 7) to any current WP7 native device. Only drawback is the lack of 4 point multitouch. Everything else is 1:1.
