Dude, the Evo does NOT have a SIM card slot.

Dostum, HTC Evo DEĞİL SIM kart yuvası var.
Plus the ad is misleading. The Evo is a CDMA phone that works on Sprint, so no GSM or SIM card.

ok thankss but ebay seller said unlocked and without contrackt, why ebuy seller said it? what is unlocked evo's different feature (than) normal evo 4g?

up up up up up

It is unlocked, which means it will work for any CDMA carrier, the hard part is getting them to add it to your account, but you might not have any problems in turkey.

You still don't understand. eBay seller is wrong in his details of the phone. This is the eBay sellr's fault, not the Evo. Evo is a CDMA only phone, end of story.
Hala anlamıyorum. eBay satıcısı yanlış telefonun onun ayrıntıda gizlidir. Bu eBay satıcısı hatası değil, Evo olduğunu. Evo bir CDMA sadece telefon, son hikaye biridir.

The seller is uninformed or intentionally misleading. Technically the Evo can be "unlocked" by having the MSL, which many users have obtained. That said, the Evo is CDMA based and does not have a GSM radio! This makes the number of carriers that you could try to take this phone to very limited.
Even users that have successfully taken other HTC CDMA phones to different CDMA networks (like boost mobile) have struggled to get core functions working like data and messaging. Moving Sprint CDMA phones to other networks has been described as a task suited only for those who are comfortable/experienced in hacking mobile phones and fluent with the program CDMA tools. Even people that meet that description are not going to have a fully functional experience...

I have HTC Evo 4G and i has RUIM (Sim) it come from USA and Repaired By someone in USA and (found sticker on mainboard nokia care)
I works in India in Reliance (CDMA) but after i updated through wifi it will stop working (updated radio+NV+PRI).
So. i Remove siM Try (someone solder on mainboard). and registered MEID with reliance to make working on reliance without RUIM

General Info about Droid X

I reside in India. Unfortunately, we don't have Droid X here.
Now I wanted to know if it is first of all locked when we buy it from other countries? Like the iPhone is carrier specific, is the Droid X also locked with carriers?
Or can I just buy it from Dubai, pop my Sim card here in India and be the happiest person alive.
Also, I don't really understand what 'rooting' means? ANd are there any different versions having different hardware specs of the Droid X?
I currently use X1, with Genesis ROM and sometimes Android.
Thanx!

OH!!!! i didnt know that..
I don't know the situation in India, but in China Mainland, CDMA 2000 phone need a UIM card ( Similar to SIM card), so we can only buy these phone from China Telecom, the only CDMA 2000 carrier in China, they provide CDMA phones with UIM card slot and a more expensive price.
If you want to buy these phone from other country, say US, because these phone doesn't have a UIM card slot, so you need to write UIM information into you phone directly. But these information ( especially the 'AKey' ) is invisible to customer, so you must take some unofficial ways to get them and write into your phone. It's very complicated.
Or you can do a hardware modification to add a UIM card slot to these phone, and insert your card into it.
Or, if you can't go with above methods, the only thing you can do is waiting for a Droid X for India market, this is what I'm doing right now. Droid X for China Mainland is Motorola ME811, it has a UIM card slot, but the ROM size is reduced to 1GB only

is possible to buy xoom in the Usa and use it in Italy

Hi, tomorrow I will be in NY for a couple of days and I want to buy a Motorola Xoom, is possible to use it outside of the Us? And if it's possible could I use my sim for the 3g connection?
Thanks you in advance for your kind reply
If you buy it here, you will only be able to use it with WiFi. It doesn't support 3G sim cards.
Sorry for the dumb question, it's a wifi only model the one sold in Usa?

No, its Wi-Fi and 3G, but it is Verizon only which has the Verizon 3G "Sim Card" built in.

no theres no Verizon sim card in it. There is a placeholder for where the LTE sim card will go once the upgrade happens, however at the moment its just an embedded CDMA radio

Ah sorry, we don't have CDMA in the UK, so I wasn't 100% sure about it!

I don't understand very well...It has a slot for SIM but only for Verizon's SIMs...?
No. It uses CDMA. No SIM card. CDMA is different from GSM and it doesn't exist in Europe.
Basically you can use it in Italy over wifi as your data connection.

In the US there are basically 2 systems:
1- CDMA which is used by Verizon (xoom). There is not chip to be attached by the user. However the Xoom has an slot for the upgrade to 4g and that is the slot that you see in the tablet.
2- GMS used by other carriers and the standard in the EU.
You can use the xoom in Italy as a wifi only.
i want to change the system software in Italian of my xoom buyed in US on amazon...how can do it ?
Were the heck did this thread come from?? XDA members have people so afraid to start new threads this guy piggybacked this one.

HTC EVO 4G use in Italy???

Hi guys,
I have seen so many HTC phones EVO 4G for sale on ebay, I wanted to know if you can use them with Italian cards, because I do not understand ...
http://cgi.ebay.it/MINT-SPRINT-HTC-...ell_Phones&hash=item2313212bc5#ht_2365wt_1139
Thank you.
The EVO 4G doesn't take any "cards". It runs on North American (and a few select others, like KDDI/Japan) CDMA networks. CDMA networks don't use SIM cards.
the EVO is not a world phone and only operates on CDMA technology, which is only here in the US (and Japan actually, but on a diff frequency I believe).
You will need to buy a GSM compatible phone if you want to use it in Italy.
That means anything from Sprint or Verizon is out as they are CDMA (unless it is marketed as a world phone meaning it has dual radios).
You'll need something from AT&T or another provider that uses SIM cards to go abroad.
.. :-( ..
thanks you very much for the support...

[Q] Possible to Unlock?

Hi I wanted to buy this pone from amazon, but the thing is that I would buy the sprint versión with no contract and I don't live in the US, so my question is, can I unlock this pone to use it with any other company? like Movistar? I read that the pone was GSM so I thought it would be posible, however I won't take the risk of paying 590 dollars for a pone that I can't use, thanks

What do you mean if I dont know dont tell? What does that supposed to mean?
I KNOW my Cellular Networks!
Sprint is a CDMA Network!
The ONLY part about sprint that is NOT CDMA is LTE which the sim card slot is LOCKED to sprint.
They MIGHT be a fix but right now there is NOT. Some of the older phones like the Moto Photon its not LTE but its a world phone and people could flash a few things and make it work, But only EDGE in the USA anyway.
But as of right now and problay for a while its NOT going to work.

I expect Sprint will provide a method soon to unlock the GSM and UMTS functions in the phone to be able to use it internationally. However, I don't expect the GSM and UMTS functions to operate inside the US. Sprint has always disabld them on GSM capable Android and iOS devices it sells.
I don't see why it wouldn't work for you as long as you can get it unlocked.
Sprint is not going to unlock it for you unless you are a long time customer or have the phone with them for 90 days.
hyelton is completely wrong though.. the sim does authenticate lte on sprint but also acts as a gsm sim internationally.
you can also remove the sim and insert any international sim once unlocked providing the carrier uses the correct bands.

You are all kinds of WRONG.
Sprint's GS4 is fully capable of voice and data on international GSM/HSPA+/UMTS 850/900/1900/2100MHz networks. You have to request Sprint to unlock your phone's sim (or find a work around if you're not a Sprint customer), but once unlocked you can pop in any international sim and it will WORK JUST FINE on international GSM networks, they don't have to support LTE. Heck the only thing preventing the SG4 from working on US GSM networks is Sprint locked the Sim from using USofA GSM carrier sim cards.
As long as the OP can get their Sprint SG4 sim unlocked, they can pop in their international sim and use the GSM in their country NO PROBLEM like any other GSM phone.
SO ONCE AGAIN, Sprint's SG4 has a fully functioning GSM modem that supports international carrier GSM/HSPA+/UMTS 850/900/1900/2100MHz bands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You would think someone with almost 2,000 posts and who made a statement like "I KNOW my Cellular Networks!" would know better. Do yourself a huge favor and actually know what you're talking about before you go spouting off again, because you really made yourself look like an ignorant fool.

Well YES you can easily use your phone overseas, But it was POSTED in the Sprint Forum which is ONLY in the USA and in which using it does NOT apply in the USA. And to get the phone unlocked I`m not sure if a regular unlocking company would be able to do it someone with a sprint account would and it would be MUCH more trouble than just to pick up a ACTUAL GSM carriers Version of the phone.( I should had just said that to begin with) Its VERY pointless to TRY and want to use the sprint Version when they are SEVERAL OTHER varrients that are GSM they could have got to use.
EXCEPT... the op specifically said they wanted to purchase it from Amazon America to use on their country's GSM network.
Why they want to do that? WHO KNOWS, maybe it might be cheaper doing it this way, but that is what they want to do and despite all your unnecessary wrongful information, the OP can do what they asked as long as they can get the sim unlocked.

I sell on Amazon and Most people wont ship out of the USA on Amazon. Mostly only Candia but Ive tried ordering a lot of things overseas and 90% I cant as they wont ship here
Amazon sells the Sprint for $599 this is probably why. I bought mine at Best Buy and had them price match Amazon for that price.

Looks like everyone here is an expert in this matter but so far haven't seen a single link to reputable sources... OP call sprint international department and get answer straight from the carrier (888) 226-7212
Even IF the phone is capable of being used in GSM bands internationally, you would have to get it unlocked by sprint and they change policies all the time so just call..

I got my phone unlocked for international use. I contacted sprint international services. I was initially told that you have to be activated for at least 90 days before they could unlock the phone but would forward my request to some department. After one day I got a email that my phone has been unlocked.

Yea.... but it ONLY works internationally AND you have to be a sprint customer.
The POINT I have been trying to get across is that people need to understand Sprint is a CDMA carrier and ONLY relies on GSM for LTE. I think what people think is that they are solely a gsm carrier like most of the world is but its NOT

No. It's like trying to install Windows 3.1 on a new Mac (not a VM). The two technologies are incompatible. However you could get a T-Mobile/AT&T SIM card and put it on their service. T-Mobile has some pretty good deals like the 5GB/100 min/unlimited SMS 4G service (4G as in unthrottled pure LTE bliss) for $30 at Wal-mart or t-mobile.com under the prepaid section (harder to find).
