my HTC touch Pro has hardware volume keys, which I use often.
is there any way to remove the on-screen volume window completely?
I am using Exquisite ROM, with the default WinMo Volume sliders (NOT the HTC ones)

I want to assign more hardware buttons to start apps and perform functions such as 'start' and 'ok' without losing the default set of buttons.
So I want all the buttons you get as default on my xda mini s plus I want to be able select the 'start' button and 'ok' from hardware buttons - like you can when the sliding keyboard is open.
I also want to hardware start tasks, notes etc.
I don't want to use smartskey as doesn't this change the volume slider to page-up/page-down?
There seems to be a couple of apps out there that can enable this e.g. vito button mapper though was wondering if anyone could recommend something inc freeware if poss.

You can edit the smartskey.ini to disable the volume slider and just use the press and hold features of the softkeys. I can't understand why you would want to though. By default smartskey allows the volume slider to function as a volume control in the phone app and in the today screen.

installed skyfire on stock 6.5 rom, just to access tvcatchup.com, when I use the volume rocker, skyfire minimises (doesn't crash, still running in background) and you have to go task manager to reopen it... any clues?

I don't know why. Why not try my volume control registry mod which brings up the small volume strip on the left of the screen. It's easier to use and gives finer control using the volume keys. And it might not minimise skyfire!

PS: I've just remembered that when I tried 6.5 it had a different volume control to 6.1. The registry mod is for the HTC style control if your rom uses it.

in manila setting tab, i separate ring volume ang sysyem volume. (like original state of WM or like diamond TF3d and ... )
yhe problem is that , when i want to change the volume, by pressing key, ring volume tab apears. and i must press system tab (from top) and then change volume.
is it possible that when i press volume key, the system volume tab apear directly.

Hi, I had the same issue. Actually I partially solved it by using a software called AE Button Plus to remap every physical button, including the volume ones. Actually, I "reassign" volume keys to control volume and allowed them to control the SYSTEM volume directly, not using that annoying grey window.

I was wondering if the touch HD can be adjusted so that the volume buttons can be used during music playback (with screen truned off)to change tracks up or down depending on which button is pressed for some seconds?
You know like it does with the volume(where screen is off yet buttons functionality is available)
itll save time having to take the phone out of your pocket everytime...
I personally use AEButton Plus. With this program you can reassign all buttons with new Commands.
The config is:
Volume Up
One Press - Up (Last Title)
Double Press - Volume Up
Volume Down
One Press - Down (Next Title)
Double Press - Volume Down

Try the Core Player. It has this feature built-in that you can assign any function to any button. Also some ROMs are tweaked to skip tracks with volume buttons when screen is off (like Laurentius26's V4) with HTC Sense's player.
im not that keen on downloading unofficial roms anymore but ill give core player a try

i was wondering if there is an app to put a volume slider in the notifications when you slide it down. The reason being is that i remapped my volume up key as power, and volume down as back.
