[Q] Is a touchwiz 4 rom possible?

would there be anyway that someone could make a touchwiz 4 rom, i think that if people can make a sense 3.0 sensation port that so can a galaxy s 2 rom, If i knew anything about rom porting i would be making my own roms, But that aint going to happen any time soon . thanks A.Davies
Please don't post the same question in different forums.
I would imagine porting a touchwiz rom is possible, the main reason why it hasn't been done, is probably lack of interest from the community.
Personally I think touchwiz is nothing special.

heh, you asked me to do a touchwiz 4 port ;D
i dont see whats so good about it though? xD
Yeah i know i shouldnt of posted them in both of them but i wasnt sure witch one to do so i saved time by doing both of them. If anyone can give my any guide to porting roms ill do it myself and if it yeilds any results ill upload it on here.
I know u can just install the toucjizz launcher and get at least somewhat a touchjizz rom. Other than that I think your SOL

[Request] Any Dev interested to port Sense UI 2.2 or ↑??

NOTE:I'm not a developer, I'm just trying to encourage/gather them to work on a port!!
EDIT: Seems like no-one dares to try porting Sense 3.5 to Defy, so let's try Sense 2.2!!! With a newer kernel and Sense 3.0/3.5 apps.. Shouldn't be harder than porting Sense 3.5
Motorola Defy has become a really impressive phone, and many are users of this phone..
So maybe we all want something..
Something completely different other than MIUI, CM7 and Moto roms..
Something like... SENSE UI!!
So let's try to regroup Developers (if you know any, tell them about it!)... To Tell them to port Sense UI. To take up the challenge... and make the Defy a more impressive phone..
There is already an existing Project, but has been paused (iaio72 is already in it): [ROM][23-feb-2011] DefyFroyoSense v0.1 (mcm_xyz edition)
I know it's quite a big request XD.. But, please..
NOTE: To Developers who are ready to help, post "Let's work on it!"
NOTE: Those who want to help but are not Developers, post "I'm ready to help!"
When there will be ~10 developers. The project SensationDefy or whatever you want to call it XD will begin!!
Note that any developer who want to help even if the project has begun are welcomed
Thanks for your kind contribution, if any. And don't forget, show your desire to get Sense UI by posting!!

Iaio72, could you make a how to for port sense ui? What you did and what need to be done?
Based in previous discussions port Sense UI 3.5 is not possible or very hard to do. I can't remember now why

Help? Hmm. right now the goal is to regroup Developers, enough Developers to succeed to port Sense.. Try to contact @iaio72, and tell your other Dev. friends if they can help XD. Thanks!!
Yes!! If I can be of any help you know where to find me.

I hope that this will start eventualy... Go guys!!
Nice idea.
However, for the sake of the terrible keneral from moto, could it be possible to support every feature of SENSE 3.5?
Lets work on it!
Common Devs. Do it.

You know even if we cannot port sense 3.5 we will try 3.0 or 2.2...

MM never heard of it... SOunds promising but there are still bugs.. no BT and FM RAdio...
Right now, we just stick with a stock rom, which is logically easier to port than custom rom.

Hi
I tried all the recent phones for hours in the stores throughly and found that HTC sense UI is the best, fast and Attractive amongst all, So come on all Devs go get it
I am Thinking about some generous package for Team
Thanks
Urvish
Indeed, Sense UI looks great and has some really nice tweaks HTC added. I know the internals of the Defy are pretty different from the components HTC uses. But some months ago I was using the already existing Sense port which hasn't seen an update for quite some time now (but it was working flawlessly) and I wonder if it would be so hard and completely different to make a similar port with a newer version of Sense.
But ok, I'm not a developer, I'm curious if something will happen, it would be great, but for now my Defy is very usable.

Sense Ports

I just created this thread to unify people asking/requesting sense ports from other devices (preferably desire) to N1, maybe we can get more roms and more interested developers to port roms. Of course, anyone can help porting or make your own functional port and post in developers forum.
I'll try to work with some desire roms in the next weekend, so we can just unify efforts here.
----
Anyone can help with an intermediate effort, using this howto and dbasabe kernel in forums (maybe using the kernel in this rom).

A time ago I see a work in progress, but the development was progressing slowly. Maybe in the near future?

But the preformance will be better than other sense ports, right? Because this sense was made for this hardware, right?

Not exactly. For android devices, the main performance achievement is maded by kernel, such as linux distributions, the main performance is achieved (basically) optimizing glibc and kernel. And we have a good optimized kernel by dbasabe, but as we already know, not all sense ports like this custom kernels.

Questions about porting

Alright so I wanna try and start porting roms and I have a guide and it doesn't seem extremely hard and I think I can do it but I have some questions when porting a rom I figure I have to port it from a phone like the desire hd or can I port it from any phone jw bc I'm looking in the desire hd form and most of the aosp roms are already ported

Yeahhh that's part of the reason I tried learning how to compile so quickly. With as much porting that goes on for this device, its difficult to start off. Hence why I don't port at all anymore. I like to give others a chance at learning what I already know (somewhat). That's the reason you didn't see a jb port from me as soon as it hit the dhd I'll try to drop you a pm soon if I find any thing that would seem port/release-worthy.

Rom building literature.

Yo guys...
I'm properly hankering after a pure AOSP rom, and I know you are all tied up with cm9 / cm10.1 / pa / aokp etc, so I thought I'd give it a wee bash myself.
I'm a pretty experienced programmer (albeit mainly with java) , so I appreciate the best way to learn is just to get my hands dirty.
Can anyone point me in the direction of some decent literature to give me a road in?
Cheers,
L
