Hello,
I have samsung JET (Similar screen 480x800) and having a tough time finding a software tht can convert properly my dvd movies.
Can you guyz recommend me some softwares tht can really really work properly !?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467590
It is a STICKY on the FIRST PAGE -.-
Yes i know abt that sticky thread, but that software aint working great in movies.... low sound problem on all movies and hence i require other softwares tht can perform the task without loosing any quality and sound..
It worked well for me. Transformers work great... except for a Ratio issue.
Maybe you are trying to convert stuff with lower quality? It works PERFECTLY for me.
It works pretty slowly and sometimes the audio seems slightly out of sync for me
total video converter takes few seconds and makes the best quality convertion

Hold on are you looking for info on the samsung JET on an Xperia forum?? and asking if there is a video converter ideal for this phone??
Or have i just misunderstood what you are after
hmm...go here: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/decrypters-dvd-rippers and pick your dvd ripper [ PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST OWN the dvd and are doing this for back up purposes only ]
Then go here: http://www.erightsoft.com/S6Kg1.html and download Super.
(The link is right at the bottom in light blue)
It has LOTS of options. play with them until you get what you want (and if it's too complicated for you then tough)

Closed thread because OP is asking the same Q over and over again.
Handbrake works but it's impossible to use for converting lots of videos.
I like WinFF (ffmpeg front end) and it's easy but I can't find a preset that doesn't make the audio go out of sync. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
How many videos are you trying to convert? I have used Handbrake to convert about 10 videos over night before without any issues.

Never used that encoder I use MeGUI it does it all and fast I've got all kinds of XviD rips from x264 BRRips that look great on my tv and vibrant there all about 2 gigs.
I use AnyVideo Converter. It has several presets specifically for Android, and works well with multi-core CPU's to convert rather quickly. Never had a problem, it even made good videos for my old MT3G.

With handbrake and megui you have to add each file one by one to a queue. If I want to convert 20 or 40 files that's annoying.
Can you guys tell me what ffdshow parameters you are running with?

best one i've ever used, and free, I believe opensource also
Snowfox software makes a few programs for video and audio tools. I played around with their dvd and total video converter last night and this morning. It had some decent results. It isn't perfect but its done a good job with converting divx or hd mkv files to files compatible with the audio and video specifications of android. I put in the video size of 800x480 and bumped up the video bitrate and adjusted the sampling and bitrate of audio and let the trial do its thing. Good results.
I also stumbled across a miro video converter. That program does a good job as well but basically does not have any settings to tweak. It has phone presets. I picked the one I thought had a high video resolution, nexus one, and let it do its thing.
I have been having a difficult time trying to get iphone and ipod presets to play good with handbrake as the encoder, but haven't had much luck yet. I am trying to get as good of quality as I can and these are the results I've gotten so far. I thought I would share this with you in case anyone might be wondering. Miro is free as in beer.

I would appreciate an answer to this as well.
I have found that the Affix will play most of the .avi movies that I download. I haven't had any luck with the few mp4 or mvk files I've tried.
If anyone knows how to convert any format to something the Atrix can play, please let us know..
Thanks!!

Instead of converting just install a player that can decode all of these files. There are a couple of good ones out there. I've read good things about Meridian and VPlayer.
I try rock player no luck ,i download from youtube the google io in hd 60 fps 1280x720 and .mp4 and surprise I can't play.
My one year old nexus one do fine stupid motorola y try convert with any dvd and was awful the video was so fast not sync with sound,i guess because 60 fps and max van convert its 30 fps any more tips? Thanks

None that I've seen. Plus, even with a smaller bitrate, the resolution and density of the qHD on the Atrix makes up for it... movies look great

thanks, im pretending use multimedia mode in my TV so will be more to watch on my 42" tv than atrix xD i will try it thanks
The issue is not codecs, it's Tegra 2 cannot handle high profile HD decoding (at least at the moment)
If you stick to Main profile and no B-frames you will likely be ok. Which also means you are likely having to re-encode your video.
More info here
Handbrake preset here
qqplayer works
If you add the video with motorola media link (think that's what its called) it will convert it to play on your phone.

If you just want to play files on your phone, try Moboplayer. I use it to watch XVIDs and it works perfectly. It is also free so worth a try.

strange dude, my atrix plays all formats, i think that have one, that only comes audio, but this video was 1080p(HD) and i dont made even 1 update in my atrix
it's not that simple.
just because you can play one individual 720p h.264 file doesn't mean you can play them all. there are different profiles / bit rates etc.
For h.264 Tegra 2 supports main profile but not high profile. Xoom owners have done all kinds of tests on this. To date no video player has been able to overcome this.
Hey people, i am taking a trip to europe next month and i wanted to watch some movies on the plane to kill some time. Does anyone know how i can download either free movies or paid movies to my evo?
Thanks
Netflix? Megaviewer?
If you own the dvds, you can rip them using PSPVideo9, or whatever number they are now. You will be able to rip and decrypt the DVDs into a viewable format for just about any mobile Device. I hope you got a big card though. They are pretty big depending on the movie.
Piracy aside, this raises a good question. What(if any) converters are people using to get videos into an Evo compatible format? Also, what encoding profiles are you using with said programs?

I'm encoding my movies in mp4 format using Ripbot (freeware). Also heard Handbrake is another good alternative encoder.

Any tips on what encoding parameters you're using? I don't really need HD video on my phone, just a decent quality and minimal size. Similar to what a DVDrip is for the "community" small in size, still decent quality (or so i hear)
I have used Bitripper to rip my dvd collection. Each movie ends of being around 1gb give or take and the quality is pretty good.
A good app for simply viewing movies is "Crackle". It has a good quantity of movies to view which are free, as well as the app itself.
i use handbrake and use the iphone setting works pretty good for format and dvdshrink to rip and do a reauthor taking out all menus and lang,ect... using those two most movie run about 500mb(lowest)to 960mb(highest).
hope that helps

i'm running MIKG 2.1 and the stock video player now plays .avi files
it was annoying how there was virtually no android .avi support when i first got my evo.
Handbrake is great also, you can convert 1080p or 720p videos that will be insanely clean

MacTheRipper and Handbreak to mp4's works great for me.
I use freemake video converter. It's free and very simple to use. You don't even have to know what format you need. Ask you what platform you want to covert to(blu-ray, apple, android, youtube, flash, etc).
