New rom issues - HD2 General

Hi people, this site has done wonders... kind of
just by reading alot of posts and info here ive been able to flash my htc and change roms, as im in australia i get all that telstra logo crap all through the phone.
My problem lies that once ive installed a new rom, customised the settings how i like, ill find 9 out of 10 times the phone will not restart and gets stuck at the white htc screen, it stays there and wont budge, even after 10- 15 mins
just curious as to what i could be doing wrong to cause this
currently its been flashed with HSPL and running the Touch-IT_BL_23569_tmous2.13_w_cookies_1.8.0 rom
i like it but cant use the phone most of the time after its restarted, and i definately dont want to revert back to the crappy telstra rom
any help would be much appreciated
thanks

You need to flash a suitable radio for the rom your using.
Read the thread for the rom your using and see what radio they suggest.
Put the phone in to bootloader mode and flash the radio.

Thanks alot mate, been 3 days messing around with this, and a thread was my last resort
much appreciated

Problem trying to remove Hspl?

Hello there,
I installed Hspl a few days ago on my Virgin HD2 and have tried a few custom roms on it but i am sure this phone is faulty as it randomly crashes on all the roms i have tested.
My brother received this phone also and he has tried the custom roms and his is fine so i am planning on sending it back for an exchange.
I have read the instructions for uninstaling Hspl and watched the video so i downloaded the rom from the official HTC site and extracted the RUU_signed.nbh and renamed it to LEOIMG.nbh but when i hold the volume button down and press power on to load the LEOIMG.nbh off the memory card...it gets to the loading screen then shows me the screen with the SPL-1.42.HSPL on it.
I am a Noob so i am probably doing something wrong
Can anybody help me out please?
Thanks.
Anyone?
Still not getting anywhere.
i dont know if this would help but I flash stock roms using a goldcard. has worked flawlessly on 3 hd2's so far

He's way past that part mate - that won't help him now.
jpopgt - I'd recommend asking this question in the ROM forum rather than the general forum. Most people do switch between all the subforums, but you'll definitely get a better target audience in the right one.
Good luck mate
Ok Cheers.
Will ask in the Rom forum.
Thanks for the replies.
I would think that as your phone is a virgin phone you will have to flash a stock virgin ROM.
Closing this as you have now asked the question in the ROM Forum.
Hope you get it sorted.

can you go back to original rom?

Ok I've installed several different roms since getting my phone yesterday, but I haven't really found one that would stick with me like the original T-mobile rom does. Call me crazy, but I kind of like the rom that came with the phone. I was wondering if I could revert to that rom and how it is done? Also if I did this would I be able to install hardspl in the future to put cooked roms on the phone if I found one that I ended up liking? Sorry if this has been asked before I did a search and didn't really find my answer.
here ya go....

I flash the 2.10.1 ROM whenever I want to go back to the stock stuff and the Hard SPL is still in place with no need to reinstall it.
Thanks I seen that thread earlier lol I just needed some confirmation that that's what I needed to do thanks man I appreciate it. Going to install the version you said and see what happens do I flash it the same way as a cooked rom?
Never mind I figured it out thanks for the help I love this website been a member for a long time, but hadn't had a htc phone since my tilt thanks
NP man!!
My first HTC phone was a Tilt ... then went to a G1 and now HD2

general help new hd2 user.

Hi all .
im a new member but long time reader of these forums.
i have an htc hd2 flash size 512mb..ram size 448..rom 1.72.161.3(82124)wwe radio 2.07.51.22_2.
i was lucky enough to get this handset of a friend who found it to difficult to use (he's iphone now).
as far as i can tell its a vodaphone handset(splash screen when turned on) but must be unlocked because im an orange user.i have in no way flashed anything or tweaked anything.
im loving this handset ,used a friends iphone and got bored in 10minutes of use.i have read alot on flashing roms and radio but to be honest im finding it difficult to understand, not sure what hspl and spl is,and why radio is seperate when flash sometimes?i have searched forums but just need a helping hand to start then im sure i would be fine.
so any help and advice on improving this handset would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks
ok so spl is stock it means the phone is locked so you cant flash custom roms (i think im right lol) hspl means its unlocked (but not sim unlocked) you need hspl to flash a custom rom, its easier now then when i first got my hd2, you can just use hspl 3 now and you just choose from the drop down menu one that ends in hspl,
Radios often don't come with most custom ROM's because the chefs have there roms tested with certain radios for performance wise, I would say every custom ROM will tell you what radio is best advised to use, for there rom, flashing a custom rom will remove everything from you're phone so be sure to save contacts with myphone or pim back up something like that, you should take a read through this thread mate its quite easy once you read it and then read it again just make sure it is quite hard to brick a hd2 or a htc phone unless you havent really read properly but there is plenty of people here if you need help, if you get stuck just ask before you flash better safe than sorry

many thanks for quick reply.
the link u posted sent me to t-mobile version, i thought my handset was normal version the keys at bottom of handset arent coloured green and red .
is it worth going from stock rom to a custom one?
i find the stock ok but does tend to slow up if i dont stay on top of task manager and shut down programs which are still running, even though i did exit out of them.
im reading through forums again trying to understand this flashing option.quite annoyed with myself as i tend to be normally ok at flashing things done it with my tomtom etc.
many thanks for time and patience
hi..
i think im getting there (alot of reading to be sure)
is it actually worth using a custom rom ?
if i decide not to flash a custom rom
can i still apply the tips and tweaks to handset..for example im looking at the landscape.cab will this make all features move to landscape instead of just a few applications?
and any other tweaks i choose from xda vast list.
many thanks for time and patience
search for bsb tweaks. You can use any of them except for the decrease phone sensitivity and tap time.
Also, any tweaks should work on your phone.

I am currently running the stock Rom I have had a few different roms on my HD2 and there all different and good for a lot of different reasons I eventually went back to stock just for a change as I mainly use my phone for work and some Roms still have a few bugs.
I installed cookies home tab (CHT) which is awesome and BSB tweaks and I find thats got my phone working great.
Best thing is even if you try everything you can always go back to start so give it a shot everyone will be glad to help as long as you search for an answer to a problem first
Just think about what you want from your phone and look at what others have done there is a plethora of information here
Enjoy

If you dont plan on flashing to a custom rom, somethings you should look at
co0kie's Home Tab and CHT Editor
Bsb Tweaks
cleanram
Chainfire's 3d driver
data controller
also read tboy2000's thread
for games and some apps, check this site out, i suggest you download the omarket app to make life easier
and also moving the album cache, look for tune4's cab as it saves tonnes of space!
those are the basic few to make sure everything runs nicely...
many thanks for all your help and info.
im just checking if i got things right if you dont mind checking.
my handset is a vodaphone but sim free (im orange)
ive download HSPL3 which i run from pc desktop via usb to htc hd2.
but i have to check spl version by press volume down as well as reset button on back or is it via settings etc?
once hspl is on handset i choose which rom (unless stated otherwise) and run it like a normal rom upgrade .and voila alll done!?
radio is to do with wifi and calls and doesnt need changing unless have to?
many thanks for help again, and i will check out above threads as well.
i think i will get it in the end just a steep learning cure,do i once and know doubt i will be was that all it took.lol
many thanks for time and patience

Q Trouble with energy rom for HTC HD2

I have downloaded the energy rom for the HD2 ive don everything i was meant 2 like the radio and the hspl but im stuck on the boot logo screen and it doesnt change at all and i cant get it workin i only installed this rom cos i was gonna put froyo on it 2 run android but now i cant can some1 plz help me and yes i am a noob can some1 tell me how 2 restore it back 2 the original OS so it works again cos i need my phone and can it be step by step
I was going to type out how to do it, but I don't remember each step that vividly... In the regular hd2 section you can get help in the rom development forum for how to revert back to the stock rom. The top stickies should have all the info you need, plus downloads to the stock roms.
I have similar problem with Sencity Energy rom, and radio 2.15.50.14. Got stuck forever at android boot screen (green HTC logo) forever. I've tried several android builds but neither got past boot screen.
Anyone have solution to this problem?

sure, pull the battery cover, press the soft reset button, or pull the battery.... reinstall battery, it'll boot up into WM... done.
might i recomend formating your sdcard before trying again.
and yes , firs boot into android will take probably 20 min, it has to build a new filesystem on the sdcard, initialise, and a whole bunch of technical stuff thats obviously way over your head.
Hi ,I use energy rom too and i use this android rom and works perfectly try it out.
my radio version 2.07.50.27_2
I use the drop mode version.

If you could post a link 2 it plz it would help me a lot thanks
I'm new to all this as I only loaded HSPL 2.08 on my phone for the 1st time on Sunday evening. I then loaded the new 2.14.50.* radio. Then I loaded NRG's 21916 Original Cookie ROM. Everything worked fine. And then yesterday I downloaded FroyoStone_Sense and followed instructions and now I'm playing Fruit Ninja
The steps I followed are
those for the energy ROM thread in this forum
then
search for "How to Install Android 2.2 Froyo on HTC HD2 easily" on google.

Go to "settings, sound" and turn off audible touch tones in the "feedback" section. If that doesn't work, next time you're in a call turn on speakerphone and then turn it off again. That should stop your problem till next reboot. The first suggestion normally resolves the problem though.
Good luck

sounds like a radio issue to me, have you tried other ROMs, what is your radio version?
Try flashing 2.12.50 or 2.15.50 and you should be fine.
tried the Energy Rom, no good use.. flashing the radio now.... thxx for the quick reply
sure thing, let me know how it goes.
Also, when flashing a new winmo ROM, are you doing a task29?
I have had issues when flashing new ROMs over old ones without doing task29 first, it seems to help a lot.
