There's no way to get the homescreen to rotate unless you download launchers such as launcher pro or adw.

hmmm i guess ill have to go with another launcher, thanks!
the captive has the home screen rotation?
When I launch avatar it automatically rotates the screen and then stays that way to display the drm warning. Not really a fix, more of a bug you could take advantage of of you just want it rotated for games. As a real solution I would recommend launcher pro.

How does one benefit from swiping through their home screens in landscape mode?
Another thing that proves people like what they like. I hate my homescreen to rotate. I use LauncherPro and disabled it.
^ that could have been my post exactly.
To each his own, I guess. This really bothered me, so I started using Launcherpro and can't see myself going back...Touchwiz is pretty good, but coming from my G1 running CM6, it made me feel too locked down.

Technically speaking, TouchWiz changes much more than just the launcher and home screen.
Using a custom launcher only overwrites the TouchWiz launcher, it doesn't remove TouchWiz altogether.
Honestly I really like the fact that the home screen does not rotate. It was one thing that used to drive me a little bonkers with some of the G1 builds. Do I flip it left or do I flip it down.
Of course that was just my opinion of course.
Well, for me personally it would be nice if it rotated while I have it sitting on my desk dock. That would be about the only time I would want it to.
HOME screen Rotation
I am running froyo Jpm on the S and I am really missing the HOME screen rotation, Really. And was hoping and hoping with all my heart that someone from xda dev could come up with a home screen rotation fix.. If someone has please point me in the right direction and also one more thing Home Screen rotation Rocks!haha. And it should be there when you wont it.. So please help us home screen rotation Lovers. Thanks
Reason to have landscape.
I have a phone case that has a kickstand allowing for my phone to be set long ways (on its left hand side, so the cable is coming out of the left at the bottom of the phone) because when I stand it up and plug it in it jsut falls over all the time. (The USB cable that came with the phone is REALLY stiff, compared to the MTS3GSlide/Cliq/G1) So it would be really nice if it would go to landscape mode allowing for horizontal scrolling across screens ( I guess that the widgets would also have to be able to handle on the fly the switch betweens[ can that even work?] or be removed) And also have the status bar be across the top (like normal) while it sets sideways. I mean most of the games, video players etc already auto switch to landscape so you can have the width to handle the frames anyway. And so that when my phone is on its side (which is roughly 9 hrs/day minus lunch and smoke breaks) I can still read the stuff properly. I guess that the pulldown on the status bar would also have to work and so on. I wish I knew enough programming to make this happen myself. But that is the ONE biggest thing I miss the most about the G1, landscape homescreens. I'd seriously take that over a lag fix any day.

Distorted screen in web-browser

I'm running nightly 28 on an HTC Legend. I have a problem in the web-browser. Sometimes, when the browser is displaying the address bar, the screen is "shifted" down some pixels. What goes below the bottom of the screen re-appears at the top. See the two attached pictures.
Anyone else experiencing this? When the address-bar disappears, the screen goes back to normal.
This is quite an ambiguous issue...
How regularly does this happen?
It happens every time I open a new page from the bookmarks-menu as long as I use full-screen-browsing.
When I use "non full-screen" there is no problem.
I guess the browser gets confused about the placement of the address-bar if the status-bar of the OS is gone..
Anyone else experience this in full-screen mode in the browser?
I have before, but it's wasn't exclusive to the stock browser. I used to get it with Opera Mini and Dolphin HD.
I'm genuinely stumped. Sorry.

home screen lag!

Im gettin quite abit of lag wen scrolling through the pages on the homescreen.. I do have a few widgets but I'm coming from having the htc incredible s which had much more widgets and no lag. Does anyone else have this problem? And is there anything I can do to stop it without removing everything.
Hmmm no lag here, all I can say is try a factory reset then place all the widgets down again and see if that helps.
What homescreen laucher are you using?

Stock touchwiz
I've filled up 4 pages full of widgets/apps and I get no lag whatsoever. Not sure what's happening with yours tbh.
BullSh!T. Theres absolutely no lag with the homescreen. Your lag is called user error

When I was playing with my new toy like crazy I was getting a day in a half. I check 10 webpages hourly, tons of emails, text, usually 30mins of calls, start my music thru headphones around 9am till 5pm, checking xda app hourly, and other random things.
Its 8:18pm and im at 37%. Ive downloaded 2 torrents thru wifi, handled business thru google voice(mostly text) since ive been home. My vibrant would usually die around 5pm while at work. Im a extremely heavy user and im getting great battery life.
Ive just checked my phone. 3g/H+ stays on all day, auto sync is off, brightness turned 100%, all emails sync hourly thru samsung email app.
Ur so lucky, I jus can't get to the bottom of it. Did u charge ur battery all da way at the start an do u let it die then recharge it off? Give me some pointers. I'm hoping its jus not a faulty phone. I mite buy a new bat
What is your battery usage like? Get us a screenshot

i too have the lag actually. I find that the enlarged accuweather widget that came with the device to be the main culprit, not sure what else. I've switched to launcherpro for the time being.
I can confirm that the stock accuweather widget makes a little lag. Changed to Beautiful Weather and the lag was gone.
****ty apps and widgets make even the best of the smartphones lag.
I can confirm there is lag too....once in a while. The lag is most easily reproducible if you slowly change from one home-screen to another. Drag your finger slowly rather than do the typical swipe-and-release action.
Sometimes it is noticeable lag, but to me it is more like skipping a frame or two during UI rendering.
i notice this lag too, do anyone else notices it? like elythor stated, you can see it well if you slowly change screens, like it skips a few frames, it is not 100% fluid.
5pages widgets one full screen caledar page. Ob i know this is ovious to some but try extending the refresh hours for your widgets. E.g weather 3 hours. Etc

I had no lag on KE2. I upgraded KE7 on top of it and I started to notice some lag. I formatted my SD card and internal storage and then did a hard reset. The lag went away.
i am on ke7 and i have a lag when i go the the home screen. be it using the home button or just pressing back until i get there.
it goes back to any other screen very smoothly, but when it goes back to the home screen, there is about 3 seconds lag.
i have 5 homescreens, using stock touchwiz
Any of you guys using live wallpapers?Always found them to cause some nasty lag on my phones(Currently Desire HD,maybe GS2 in the near future...Well,that or Sensation! ).If yes,try switching to normal pictures or lighter LWPs.
Now that I mentioned it though, could you guys do me a favour? There are four LWPs on the market from maxelus.net,Shadow Galaxy,Inferno Galaxy,Ice Galaxy and Vortex Galaxy. They are magnificent, but are causing far too much lag on my DHD.Could you guys test them out and tell me the results?
Now that I think of it they suit the phone...A galaxy wallpaper on Galaxy S...
Sorry for offtopic,eh?

I have lag too going to home screen about 3 second, very annoying but it is on ke2, touchwiz, 3 screens, weather and time widgets. Sometimes lag is smaller. Removing all widgets i have small delay about 1 second returning to home screen. I wish it would be instant...
P.S. No live wallpapers

Anyone else seeing jittery scrolling on S8?

Just recieved my new midnight black S8. Its a beautiful device. However I noticed that motion is very choppy on it throughout the UI. I had it side by side with my S7 which appears to be much smoother and fluid. What's going on here?
Turns out it was the "BXActions" app causing this behavior.

I had downloaded BXActions apk ready to remap bixby when mine arrives but deleted the apk yesterday now they are locking it down so you can no longer remap it. Sounds like it saved me from some dodgy scrolling

It's working fine. But yes, there's choppy scrolling for some reason.

I just downloaded a new app, called BixbtRemap. No intrusive permissions, and can confirm stutter is gone. Also, really liking the fact you can assign the button to perform many different tasks with by assigning a number of clicks. So far, it's great.
EDIT - The stutter is back.
I'm quite disappointed with the scrolling action on my S8. Even the pulldown from the top is jittery. And it was this way before I installed BK Disabler. I'm going to try completely removing the live wallpaper and see if that helps. Honestly for a device that cost as much as this did, and having the latest SD processor, it should be buttery-smooth
I also noticed jittery scrolling when I remapped Bixby, which went away as soon as I unmapped it. Clearly a connection.

Mine seems very smooth. I also have BXActions (although now it doesn't work thanks to the latest update), didn't notice any stutter after installing and using that app (had the remap for 2 days set to Google Now).
Did you disable anything? All I did was set animations to 0.5.

Oh yeah I disabled a bunch of stuff but the jank was present before installing BK Package Disabler.
Hi,
I did get jittery scrolling out of the box, then I factory reset and installed only two apps (instagram & fenix) to get a fair comparison with my Pixel.
Very disapointed, the Pixel is smooth, the s8 is disappointedly not.
I started a thread here earlier today: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/galaxy-s8-european-exynos-performance-t3593163
Can confirm I was having jittery scrolling when interacting with the display. Was bugging me my new phone felt so janky. Disabled the Bixbye service in Accessibility and now the scrolling is smooth again. Glad to have fixed it but annoyed to lose that functionality too.
My scrolling felt 30fps while I was sliding my finger on the screen. Even Nova Launcher was jittery. When I release and momentum scrolls it is smooth.... Anyway with service disabled it is totally smooth now touching or not.

animation stuttering

Hi there.. Im noticing a stuttering in animation while scrolling or opening folders on home screen or even when i swipe the app drawer .. I know not everyone can notice this its not usual but unfortunately i can see it now and then.. Annoying as hell
