Battery Cover Not Fitting (Quick "Fix") - EVO 4G General

I've had issues with the battery cover not being flush and having lips on both sides. Now you may think I'm crazy for posting this, but hell...I didn't think the solution I found would actually work.
Basically, I just took a post-it and folded it twice (maybe three, I forget) and placed it under the cover...perfectly flush now!
I figured it would just push the cover and create more lip, but instead I tried it and it make it fit perfect! All seriousness, I was considering using rubber cement to hold it...I'm glad I didn't.

Strange
Worked for me too! Who would have thought... Thanks for the advice.

Where did you place the post it? Dead center?

Dead center over the battery.
I also cut it in half, it was pushing the cover a bit too far out near the camera.

wow! i didn't even realize this bothered me until you pointed it out. super simple fix. you sir, are a genius. well done!

woah cool
10char

This bothered the hell out of me as well... for some reason it's only the right side (when the phone is facing down) that doesn't sit flush on the edges. The left side is perfectly fine.
Unfortunately your fix doesn't do much to help my situation but I'll play around with it a little more. Great idea though

I noticed this also but when I put the ext battery that i bought for the Hero in it went away.. You can always put a Innocase II on it and that takes care of the problem too

sorry i should be more clear..its just a 2000 ext hero battery that is the same size as original..its was $10 on ebay so i went ahead and just got it for kicks.

oh ok... yea those batterys are the same thing as the 1500....

Mine is also lipped on the right side if the phone is facing down. I'm trying all kinds of things right now to fix this.

you say that but i have one of those batterys too...and you know what, i did get longer run time...

Dude you are a genious! Such a simple solution LOL Works great my cover is perfectly flush now. Will have to find something of similiar thickness to permanently stick to the backside of the battery cover.

Thanks
Works for me, greatly appreciated! Seriously bugged the hell out of me. It's not perfect but it's so much better

The post-it mod rocks! That did kind of annoy me before.

Works almost perfectly for me, what pisses me off about it is that my cover was flush until I removed it to change out my sd card.

wtf made you think of this?
fixed one little annoyance i had with the phone. thanks!

Just be careful that you don't add too much insulation and keep the heat from escaping the battery...

I had to do this with both of my EVOs. Pretty terrible that HTC can't even make a battery cover fit properly on a 'flagship' phone.

My Wizard's always done this. I've had it apart and couldn't fix it, so have settled for using a couple of turns of sellotape around the tip end of the stylus. Do it neatly and you can't see it, and it works nicely.
Ric
i put two small pieces of insulating tape in the hole where the stylus goes... it seems to hold well. i have attached a image. good luck

Hi,
It looks the same size - does it really stay in place more than the original, if so I'll get one!!
Thanks Matt
Tape: £1.39
Time out from work to craft the end of the tape to suit the exec: £4.50
The look on my other half's face when I prove the stylus will stay put: Priceless.
For most things you can use your Mastercard, for everything else, there's insulating tape.
P.S. I used black so it doesn't look so conspicious... is it vain or just the geek in me?
Best wishes,
i just wrapped a little tape around the stylus, just where the plastic meets the metal, works great, had it in situ around 4/5 months now

Not dropped out of my Exec yet. Funny thing is, I didn't think it would last long so I also bought a pack of 3 stock Stylus. Never used them. Hope I never will.
The new one has been in since Dec 06, used daily, and still going strong.

my stylus wud come out as if cheese but then i lifted the black part little up and now it stays in it place
Best thing is to actually get one of those 3-in one styli. They are actually a little thicker, which means they stay in a lot better. Mobile Fun sell them. Just google them and fine oneone.

It didn't take much to breake the glas

Be careful, I had my HD in my left pocket. I took the bus into town, the busdriver started to drive before I was seated and I bumped into the edge of a seat. My HD now looks like this
Does anyone know if there are spare parts availiable?
Flippin' heck, that doesn't look good I feel for you.
A warning to everyone, put the phone in your pocket screen side towards your body for maximum cushioning!
wiew that looks really bad! i'm afraid there no spare parts yet. Be patient, there will be after a while when more of these broken HD's will appear...

There is also another reason for this. Because antenna is usually at back side, it's also bit more healthy. Especially if you keep phone in your trousers next to your "jewellery" ))

And yes, everything seems to work alright.

I will buy it as it is.. if you want to sell the broken HD
asoebye, sorry to see this. We're all assuming you had the screen side away from your body in the pocket, can you confirm ??
As I suppose if an impact was large enough, even if you have the screen side in, a crack is possible.
Always put your HD in nice leather case
OMG! This sight will give me nightmares!
sorry to see this
I feel with you!
But it seems the screen is of glass. I thougth it was plastic.
when did you buy the phone? if it was less than 45 days ago you should be able to take out insurance...
omg, i`m sorry man. it looks bad. hope you can fix it.
wouldn`t this happen with a leather case? i mean leather is flexible...

Yes, I can confirm that. The thougt of such an accident has never entered my mind. I have never destroyed ANY phone. I got a scratch in my P3600 because I dropped it, and thats what I was most affraid of with my HD also.
But if you have the screen against your thigh I think you need a quite a hit to destroy the glass. The backcover will probably break first.
I think I will have that in mind from now on ...

I'm going to get CPP Fonesafe, but this is only available in Italy. There is also an UK version with the same name, but it costs 7 pounds a month, so it's not what I call cheap.

HELP: Battery stuck in DHD and won't slide out!

Man is this the stupidest problem ever...
The good news: I finally got my DHD yesterday...
The bad news: The battery cover is as bad as I've been hearing. For some reason I couldn't put it back on. So I pushed the Battery as far in as I could in order to put the cover on. The phone works great, but now the battery is stuck inside and won't slide out by itself and I don't know how to take it out
Please Help...
Put your fingers flat on the table, same width as the battery door.
Rest the DHD on your fingers (so that the battery door is facing the table.
Raise the DHD an inch or two and bring it down on your fingers (not so hard that it hurts).
Keep doing this, the battery will work its way free and drop onto the table.
I'll add a pic in a sec...
Thanks James, this definitely sounds very doable; I'm giving it a try now!
The battery has moved about half an inch now!! This is working *jumping up and down with joy*
I got the battery out!! Why does everyone else's battery just seem to slide out by itself? I thought it was because I pushed it too far in, but even when the battery is half way out, I still have to pull it out with some effort...
Maybe my phone just has a lot of "friction"? When I watch those YouTube videos, everyone seems to glide their fingers smoothly across the screen, but when I do it, it feels very fricative...do you guys put on hand lotion or something...
Do not press the screen too much, only a slightest touch is needed. Also if you have moist hands, it makes swiping the screen harder.

Probably because its a new phone. You have to play with it a little bit until the oil from your skin lubes up the screen. Then its all slidey slides.
I had a similar problem with my first DHD... part of the the plastic wrapper around the battery had folded back on itself along the forward edge of the battery. That caused the battery to get wedged inside. A little trimming of the plastic wrapper with a craft knife fixed it... YMMV

No you can't - the WiFi/BT antenna is in that cover .
would've given you some extra grip tho
Now seriously, if when u look at ur battery there's no visible flaws that u can safely and/or easily remove and if your screen keeps giving you the finger in my opinion you should return it for a replacement. There's been enough faulty hardware cases, the folks at HTC know the drill by now. If that's not an option, sell it on ebay ( or your local online market ) and grab a new one;]

[Q] Battery cover removal/reinstall rating

Guys,
As the needs for extra juice without "downgrading" features, with preference to maintain slim profile for the handset, looks like an additional battery is a must.
Coming from Streak, the flimsy battery cover design for Note is new to me. It seems that it had exactly the same design as SGS 2, which I never owns. Streak's battery cover is made of metal, and if done carefully, battery cover removal/reinstallation in daily basis won't harm it.
Any ideas on Note's battery cover?
It's quite strong, I wouldn't worry about it:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErXqnQKs-tA

not very difficult to remove. i just yank out the stylus and use the little corners there to get a few clicks off, then i just take it off from there.
the covers are very cheap anyways.

WHO-EVER says anything/comments about the SGS2 or Note's back cover I will just reply with that video. Just the link. Nothing more.
On a second thought I might even drop a line, like: "It might be cheap, but it's more durable than many phones as a whole."
Why do you think you need an extended battery on this phone?
I can use mine for two days of solid use without it dying.
I have both devices. The back plate will wear well.
Removal is easy on both, but reattaching is easier on the Note. You have to start at the bottom and work your way up to get all the fasteners to click properly. I've needed to remove it and restart on occasion with the SGSII. Not a huge deal but with the note, you can just put it in place and start mashing it down. No worries.

Thanks. But the fasteners, do they ever get loose or broken? On the plate or (hopefully not) the phone?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
That would be very hard to do. The fasteners are on the plate, not the phone itself.
If you were to mangle something, you'd bend or crease a fastener. You could bend it back, or more severely, cut it off. There are enough fasteners where you could afford to loose one with minimal problems.

I always get the display to be the highest battery drain on my usage. It's almost 2-4 times of other components like Android OS, etc. So I'm not sure how I'm going to get longer uptime unless I stop using the screen -- which is the reason I bought it at the first place

N4 - Sliding Off Surfaces Falling Onto Floor

Ok guys - weird happenings, i use a usb cable from my desktop pc to charge my N4 at times. I had been sitting it on top of the pc tower & it has fallen onto the laminate floor 3 times and came out without injury. So i thought it was vibration from my pc tower, so i have been sitting the phone on my pc desk surface, today i found the phone hanging half way across the edge of the desk. There is no serious vibration to mention from my pc or desk, the phone has not been ringing for the phone vibrate to cause it either. So does anyone else have any paranormal activity with their N4 strangely falling off surfaces??
only thing i notice is the glass bottom surface is very slidey
This has been a problem since day one. Put a rear screen protector on. That'll fix you up.
this is the reason I bought a bumper when I ordered mine
Yeah, that's not paranormal I'm afraid, the back is very slippery, the device can and does slide even with no vibrations at all. Just make sure to place something in the surroundings of the phone when you leave it charging that can block random slides.
cheers guys, this is surely a bad design, im so lucky no serious damage occurred. Ill buy and try the rear screen protector as im not a fan of phone covers etc, Fingers crossed this does the trick. Many thanks guys for the feedback :good::good: :laugh:

You are charging it with your PC on top of the tower with a cable tugging on it... And you are saying it is bad design? Give me a break.
Try using your charger and maybe put it someplace where the cable will not pull it. This is not rocket science.

stop being such a forum ****.
I never said i was charging it on top of the pc tower, i sat it there. When its charging its on a flat desk surface as is the charge cable. I have sat the phone on my desk and sat it on top of my wallet and it falls off. So with this phone i will need to be careful how i place it. Of course its a bad design, i should be able to sit my phone flat on a flat surface and not worry about it falling onto the floor. Nexus aint gonna give me a new one if it were to get broken and no warning came with the phone.

my n4 has probably fallen/jumped at least 50 times over the past 5 weeks, and its still in perfect condition(no cases or screen guards). luckily, the far majority of falls have been on a carpet, but some have been pretty scary
I can also say that I find mine sliding. It's quite weird actually, from the tests I've done I've noticed that it usually occurs when I have it on my leather couch or my ottoman. Yes, I know it's not a desk but the phone is sitting there rather level. It has also done it on my home desk as well, but not at my work desk (yes, both desks are level). It kind of reminds me of an air hockey table type situation. If you have it on your desk and push it, it doesn't require as much work as lets say an SGS3, Galaxy Nexus, or Blackberry to move. Basically the way it's designed causes it to not create much friction between it and the surface it is on.
Although, none of this bothers me since the phone is a fricken beaut.

Better get a thicker skin quicker as you're dealing with a lot of teenagers in these forums. Its like playing WoW, way too many prepubescent teens.
guys, it's not the phone. It's the surfaces you're placing it on. Most tables/desks are nice, smooth and shiny. Combine that with the glass and a NOT SO PERFECTLY FLAT SURFACE and you get falls
Trust me...it's not voodoo or non-Newtonian physics
