any info at all on htc sms vs winmo sms - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I realize I have posted this else where. I am a little fustrated as any of the topics or questions I have go unanswered. I always use the search function and do research before I ask. So if anyone is kind enough to provide any kinda insight I would be ever so grateful.
I personally Do not like the standard windows mobile sms . I really wish I could just use the Htc sms App as I do not have problems with It.
Is it at all possible to make the windows mobile sms App in active.
When I try to very pictures it opens the windows mobile sms app and doesnt stay With the Htc sms app.
All I wanna do Is keep it from reverting to the basic windows sms application when I view a picture.
Any consideration at all is very much appreciated.

multiple msg sending

when i send a text message it tells me message sent, so i close the messaging app. then when i recieve a message, most of the time a reply to the message sent i open the messaging app and it tells me message sent again. also people call me telling me they recieve the message i sent them multiple times. i have spb pocket plus, do i need to add the messaging app to the exception list on the close option? i know sometimes its a network error but most of the time its from my phone. so any help on that would be great. thanks
Add TMail.exe to the close app forbid list on Spb Pocket Plus.
And do a search next time and you'll find 10s of posts on subjects like this already.
Hi there.
I have the same problem and would like to know how to solve it.
I do not use Pocket Plus on my device although I did have it installed a while ago. I've always assumed this is a bug in Windows Mobile 2003SE. Is it not?
I've done a search on the forum here and was not able to find anything helpful. Maybe my search skills need help! If anyone can point me to any threads that provide solutions to this I'd really appreciate it.

OK, I can't be bothered typing it all out, so just believe me.
If you've got a program that CLOSES apps when you click (X) instead of MINIMIZING them (as is the default action in WM2003SE), then if you close the mail/msg app after sending, it will send 2 messages. Spb Pocket Plus is the usual app people use to change minimize to close. Other programs do it too. Fill in the blanks yourself.
thanks elyl, i did a search but didnt find the answer. i know it sucks to reply to such FAQs. i'm more proficient with symbian series 60 phones and series 90, just switched over to windows mobile to experience the differences. thanks again.

Hide / Archive Old Texts to save memory

I'm going crazy, after i get a texts it takes up to a minute to load the new message to my conversation. I know this is because i have over 300 texts with this person, but i don't see why i should be required to delete the texts. Iphone had the simple solution of only showing recent texts, and you have to press 'show older messages' to load them.
Anyone aware of a way to do that?
And im just gonna assume the lag while doing anything else on the phone, when you're about to receive a text is just normal. =/
please search some more as your problem has been discussed many many times.
i will help you now but you are expected (under the rules of this site) to search and let us know what/how much you searched before starting a new thread...capish?
first, lets restate the question:
1. your messaging application becomes slow, and you are correct to conclude that it is because of the number of messages in a given thread. any way to speed this up?
2. is there an alternative messaging application that is leaps and bounds better in terms of performance and functionality?
right off the bat, let me just clarify that the bad ass lag you experience when the device is about to receive a message is "normal", in the sense that all people using HTC messaging experience it and have gotten used to it. but that lag certainly doesn't occur on a whole bunch of other windows mobile devices/products.
so...you've asked question 1, and your assumption to archive old messages is a meaningful way out. so to answer question 1, you can use applications like "pimbackup" to periodically archive your old messages.
but the more powerful question is question 2. and the answer is...stop using HTC's ****ty messaging client, and disable that *****! the stock windows mobile messaging client is functionally equivalent and doesn't suffer from the lag issues. this means you won't have to even think about archiving your messages to gain performance.
so, to answer question 2, find a ROM that neatly keeps the HTC messaging disabled (NRGZ's "Energy" ROM series does this). or search for a thread started by me ("ASCIIker") in the HD2 general section for a guide on how to disable the HTC messaging client on stock ROM.
finally, some new versions of the HTC messaging client have appeared that significantly reduces the lag issues. if you read my guide, you might be able to choose better whether you want to stick to HTC messaging (or some newer version of it) or if you would rather be better off with the stock windows mobile messaging client.
good luck! and remember to search search search!

[REQ]using default sms app

I've searched and searched but just can't find it, most threads don't have intuitive titles to help with the search so hopefully if we get a solution this will help others.
My request is pretty simple (I hope anyway), the HTC Sense SMS app sucks. It's slow, slow and slow; plus the text is tooooooo small for comfortable viewing/ reading outdoors. Is there anyway to switch to the default windows SMS app without flashing a custom ROM.
I haven't sold my [email protected] yet and this might jst be the deal breaker for me. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Go to your messages menu (from the all messages view) and tap menu/options/traditional mode.
You can get the WM client by searching for and downloading the "Zenyee Messaging cab". But I can't guarantee everything working perfectly (I think I had trouble with MMS using the Zenyee cab).
For me, if I have a ROM cooked with standard windows messaging and I apply that cab to use the HTC messaging, it breaks MMS. If I have a ROM with HTC messaging as default, applying the cab to use the standard windows messaging breaks MMS. I cannot win.
Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Just for your reference "traditional mode"; means its threaded. It doesn't change the app.

Quick Reply

Been a fan of WP7 since it was ported to HD2 but one thing keeps me away from it because of a missing feature - the QUICK REPLY option on SMS.
I really need that feature which would allow me to insert quick replies to all of my SMS with choices of SMS templates. I know that there are couple of Apps that would let me create SMS Templates but it wouldn't allow to insert sms templates as a reply rather it would create or compose a new sms with the pre-loaded sms template. I know copy paste would do but I'm looking for an easier way to do it.
Is there a way or an app that does this? I already did some research and tried some apps but i could never find an app or a way to do it.
TIA

Extreme Quick Reply
will allow you to get missing function such as messaging template which have been avaliable in the mobile phone for past years back in Windows Phone 7.
You can add or edit the exisiting template so that you can send quick replies to your friends via SMS or email.

Have you tried it? I tried that app already before and wouldn't do that quick reply in the middle of the conversation window (since most on my conversations list are anonymous persons/phone numbers only and they are not saved on my Contacts). If that app would work like that then I should've missed out how to do that feature.
I wouldn't be able to try that app out once again since I'm on Android right now, if someone would try it out for me I'd be grateful, if none, I guess i have to roll back to WP7 again
Anyone pls?
