DREAMS of a better Polaris.

Polaris has potential, I know!
This is my first thread so don't go rough on me.
All this is about an idea, about a dream, about the future.
I wish there could be something we could all do to save our little Polaris's lives from the trash bin.
Wouldn't it be nice!?!
I suggest 5 things!
And i would need some hardcore programmers to be working on this..
Yes, for crying out loud, I am calling for Bepe, Olipro, Vivi, Udk, Pawel062, cmonex, misar, faria, tadzio, pof.. There are a lot of you guys. And really as far as I know you know what you are doing!
I am using Bepe's rom at the moment.. (bepe an update maybe?)

Lot's of big fonts and requests from someone who doesn't appear to understand much about why his some of these requests can't be fulfilled.
Out of interest tcfanboy, how much cash are you willing to gift to people you've mentioned to do all this work for you?

I am not planning to sell this product, so there is no cash in this for me.
I am just saying i can contribute, i wish others could too..
I just like to have my device working, don't you?

I know nothing about programming on a device such as a pocket pocket pc.
But i can program in pascal, delfi, and i am currently getting hold of c++..

People here are trying there best taking apart other devices and putting their codes into other. How about a new level?
how about writing the codes ourselves.

hey tcfanboy, thanks for the poll, u've got a point here but: u see all this work that the ppc wizes are doing is voluntary and asking them for stuff that they already know abt its not the best idea(my opinion). I'm sure they're doing their best to provide all of us with good roms and various improvements but they're not receiving any help from the company that was supposed to do all this work: HTC !
Anyway, HTC announced that they will release some sort of update in this month or next one for the devices with Q7xxx chips that will provide some sort of fix for the current issues but they didn't specify what exactly will the update do. And its not surprising considering they don't even admit they've got a problem with the video acceleration
I'm definitely looking forward to see your list of requests integrated in a rom and I'm sure sooner or later it will happen. Thanks to every1 working on any improvements!

there will be an update that fixes something that htc is not willing to tell in advance but it optimizes grafik performance
the hardware acceleration cant be activated afterwards, according to the o2 guy

i might be able to contribue with a ultra lite rom. i know i said i would release a new project rom but i want to mess more with a lite rom so will release a full and lite rom tommorow. if u all dont mind me removing almost everything like camera etc.. i can definatly get something really lite made.

acceleration can be turned on and off at any time. acceleration is nothing more than making dlls that turn on the acceleration and use it. manilla aka touchflo 3D is a example of acceleration in use. if u look at the dependencies of manilla then you will know the dlls needed for acceleration.

Manila runs on a quite different device though
The actual hardware could be disabled in the Polaris-generation through some sort of burning certain areas on the chip (some guy wrote about it in here a couple months ago) to physically destroy certain features. But giving effort to find out if that is the case by disassembling other ROMs is surely not the wrong thing to do! I guess I'll wait for some sort of fix or buy an Xperia if that one happens to arrive first

hey Pawel, if u'll integrate in your rom all the fixes and current improvements that vivi, pdaviet and udK have in their roms, it doesn't matter how lite the rom will be because we can always install on it the applications we want.

I don't know much abt wm platform but working in IT gives me a bit of a tech background and I'm learning fast, please correct me if I'm wrong but I think this video acceleration problem on Polaris is not easily achievable even with the dlls from Diamond because they are built for VGA and TC is using QVGA Right?

This is correct. But then again a driver is a driver and the resolution shouldnt play a role. nVidia drivers work for 1920x1200 as well as they do for some 1024x768 output... It could be different though for fixed resolution devices like our mobile devices are. We'll see, we'll see, or we might switch the hardware manufacturer...

Just wanted to say since I've had my Touch HD I've had countless support from everyone on here, theres too many names to mention, but today, I received my Touch Pro 2 and will be leaving this forum... (only down the road though, 2 doors down I think).
Never been a better set of people working with a device and I thank each and everyone of you, especially the chefs and their support teams, without you my HD would be no where near as good as it is now.
Hopefully you will all be getting a Touch Pro 2 and coming to help me there, but until then, I'll only be in this forum in dribs and drabs helping where I can until I sell my HD.

NICE... Congrats Pal. I will be seeing you shortly in that section too. I am waiting for T-Mobile to release that device for us here in the US so that we'll have the 3G capabilities .
But Touch HD would still be one of the top devices I have used.

3. What about the battery life? (too early i know , but still)

btw TP2 has a 0.2 inches smaller screen, can u live with that?
for me, i will not get a TP2 unless an external KB is essential.

Haha, I know what you mean, but with this device being narrower and a bit fatter, it actually feels better in the hand. Plus I want a hardware KB, this has it where the HD obviously don't. Love both devices, can't fault either.

You don't really notice the difference, whats 0.2"!!! No seriously, you don't notice the difference but the screen does look a lot clearer than the HD for some reason, I thought they were the same. Seems more responsive too.
Has more on front too, nice to have a Start Menu button and a home button as well as the hardware Zoom slider, Front notificaiton light is always nice too

Will let you know these, haven't tested them as yet. Not sure what you mean about the yellowish tint?? Video playback I would imagine is the same as this is driver issue not hardware.
Battery life actually has a monitor on it from last full charge, so will let you know in next few days about that, fully charging it now so tomorrow will be day 1

Personally i prefer those 0.2" and a 3.5mm jack

I was the same as you to be honest, a little bit pesemistic about the tp2 as I had my Blackstone, I didn't know what could be better, but I needed the hw kb.
To my amazement, the screen is clearer and more responsive, but don't get me wrong, if it wasn't for the hw kb, I wouldn't have changed.
Love both devices, just waiting for HSPL and roms to start flying about

Ok, again, not had chance to check video but will be doing that later today.
Battery.... A nice feature is that when you go into settings--power, there is an information tab at the end, which displays the time you have used it.
So far, my battery has depleated 11% (I'm on 89% left) with factory stock ram and so far I have...
19 hours, 10 minutes standby
41 minutes talktime
44 minutes device usage
Device usage is just when you have the device out of standby, whilst I've been doing this I've installed about 15 programs, set up Tom Tom, used Tom Tom for 10 minutes and also been playing with settings... So far I'm quite impressed.
I've also sent/received 32 text messages.

Think I'll hold off purchasing any new phones until something comes along and blows my mind away. Unfortunately the TP2 didn't do this for me, but have fun anyhow.

IS Leo Really 1 GHz?

I cooked 28011 and i found after boot that the about option clearly shows 1 GHz
I cooked a clean rom, removing the HTC messaging and some common stuff.I thought that LEO has a shell over shell, i mean for every MS settings or Progeam, HTC has a replacement disabling it(MS Part).
So far, it is working fine.If any one need i can upload the ROM, though Leo has excellent ROM chefs.
I used old style kitchen and EXTReloc tool.

i'll be happy to try it out and i really dont think the hd2 is clocked at full 1ghz...

have a read through and see if there is an answer yet. It appears as though the CPU uses scaling so it uses 1GHz when needed not all the time. They are still looking to see whats true and not though

Hi, I also had diamond but its become slower and operating was boring.Then I bought MEGA and it´s fantastic!!!!Fast and nice.
but if you need something more from mobile, like vga graphic, auto focus etc then buy HD or something like this.

I was also thinking weather I should buy the Touch2 or not, so I went for it and am quite satisfied with it. The only bad thing about the phone is when you surf the internet the pages aren't displayed good until you zoom in, but overall it's a great phone with a long-lasting battery and a lot of capabilities

Wait until there HardSpl for the mega is released before you buy it. I do regret buying it atm. A WinMo Phone without custom rom support is not fun at all.

Yes, you have right
This phone is very fast, he has no unnecessary gadgets.
A lot of memory allows you to run multiple programs, this is very good.
I recommend this model.

I think the only thing missing in the evo ultimate rom is support to mms

MY DREM (not only my ) IS PORTING ANDROID 2.2 FROYO ON OPAL... something like xdandroid...

Hi jagan2! You have already cooked the best rom in the world, I think the only thing you can do to improve your rom is to change the build with a newer one.
Have you ever considered publishing your own kitchen? I know that inside this there is all your work, but unfortunately windows mobile is dead and the htc opal is very old; publishing your kitchen you might give a lot of new life to our small opal...
P.S.:
now I have an Android device and I saw that android developers publish all their work and make them available to others. For this reason Android has passed WM and for this reason linux has become famous in the world...

Seems all the people are asking same thing again Speed + Battery. But friends what i believe is Evolution Beta IS the ROM which you are looking for trust me it uses full potential of your device i had put every tweak possible in it to run smooth and batter saver. And i don't think i can make a faster and more battery saver rom.
So i think no point in making a new rom. Good Luck all!

Why you don't consider to share your kitchen? This could be a great occasion to extend the life for this device...

I volunteer for beta testing, I own a iPhone 3G S now, but I still have my beloved Opal, please make one with M2D standard, like a OEM version.. Audio Booster would be a nice addition.

But friends what i believe is Evolution Beta IS the ROM which you are looking for trust me it uses full potential of your device i had put every tweak possible in it to run smooth and batter saver. And i don't think i can make a faster and more battery saver rom.

Noo Dude. We need a new rom with a better look of manila and a windows mobile 6.5.5 base! So please don't cancel your project!

I think if at least release evo ultimate with some tweak with/ without manila It would be better

I think that a rom with build 29017 and Manila 2.0 would be the best option.
Evolution Beta has an older build, at least we need it refreshed

I think Latest WM Build 29xxx or 6.5.5 whichever is the latest with the best battery backup
i think you should release it in both flavours-with latest manilla and one without it

Hi Jagan,
1)ezinput -phone keypad- was the only reason I went back to WM6.1 from you r ROM.
2)mms support will make few of us happier.
I think i remember right... because went through many roms and all just missed what I wanted.
