lcd backlight problem - HD2 General

i have this strange backlight problem since i bought my HD2. At the bottom you can see it in the pics attached. any one having the same issue?

no pic attached

sorry its my first attempt at posting pics. corrected.

It's not a backlight "problem", you're simply looking at the backlight LEDs that you can just about notice from that particular angle. Perfectly normal.

Do you mean that all capacitive screens have this? i had before an HTC HD with a resistive screen and didn't notice those LEDS.

yeah its just a slight bit of backlight bleeding and then the leds you can see as posted above. This is normal for led backlights and is certainly not as bad on the hd2 as it has been on other phones/lcd screens.

isnt that a ccfl?
i'm sure, the hd2 hasnt got a led backlight!.
got it too
DN41

As others have said thats perfectly normal.
You can see it on almost any backlight device. Even TVs at the right angle!

Capacitive / resistive doesn't affect that, it's a layer put above the actual LCD module. The LEDs are INSIDE that module. But some module types will have it more noticeable than others. Anyway, they're made to be viewed within a "normal" angle, who would watch his screen so much from the side...
Already think a moment on how clever these LED-backlit screens are designed... now you have seen where the LEDs are, all on one single screen edge (and the short one to make it more difficult), and how perfectly even they manage to light the entire screen surface with that... the light guide sheet assembly under the LCD is amazing.
All phones with color screens have used LED backlight, CCFL was just too huge for phones.

Black shadow at the screen Bottom

I noticed this small shadows at the screen bottom especially at all white screen.
Try to do a screen alignment to see it....I tried 2 HTC sets and it's the same.
The hermes screen is NOT like this...they are perfectly clean !!!
Anyone has noticed this ?
Ya, I noticed this too.
I can only notice it on all white screens. The shadow is uneven and wavey and seems to extend upwards for about 5 pixels.
Sorry no solutions from me... just confirmation.
Me too. Another thing that I noticed is that the screen is fisically slightly too much aligned to the left.

Yep, mine too. I think that they are all like that. I've heard of this issue in another thread as well.
The shadow on mine one isnt that bad, tbh, you have to really pay attention to notice the shadow.
The screen is very slightly aligned too far to the left, but it doesn't really bother me.

soft sparkle in the screen ?

Just got my unit today and love it.
Only notice a soft sparkle (like when you splash water on any LCD screen) but it's very soft and only noticeable at certain angle.
quick call to friend who has HD2, same problem.
anyone else have that problem ?
it is not a problem, it's how this capacitive display is built. at certain angle You will also notice a grid of lines and tiny dots.

It sounds to me like you've noticed the grid in the screen. This is part of the capacitive screen design, and not a fault or issue. It's there on everyone's phone, but as you've obviously seen, it's so unnoticable normally that you just forget about it.
Is it that, or something else?
Edit:
Or you could you read the post above
just curious, how come I didn't notice it on iphone ? lower screen resolution + smaller screen ?

I couldn't say why you didn't notice it, but it is there.

Problem with proximity sensor

The problem is that the screen will stay off during calls. That means I can't hang up...
The only way to get the screen on is bright light against the sensor.
Is there any way to calibrate the sensor?
I don't think so. But as you say, it's a proximity sensor, so it should measure a distance and not need light to wake the screen. And as far as I know, the light sensor isn't used in calls.
But you could use the key under the screen to hang up
Yes, that's pretty weird actually, but that's how it is...
But no, I can't hang up since there are no hard buttons. Only the touch-sensetive ones, and they don't work when the phone thinks it's at someones ear.
Screen protector and proximity sensor
I have installed on my HD Mini a very good quality screen protector. During phone call my screen became black like my ear is on the phone, but my phone is on the desk ! If I remove the screen protector the proximity sensor come back to work correctly. Any idea how to set-up or adjust proximity sensor sensitivity ?
Me too!
I have this problem too!
Your phones have a screen which is made of really good strong glass. Using a screen protector is useless. I have had a Hero (also a capacitive touchscreen phone) for 6 months and, while I do keep it in a holster, I have rubbed it on my shirt, dropped it and used my finger on it all day long. It still is spotless. Stop wasting money on protectors and just use the phone. And having a protector is bound to screw up the proximity sensor.
As far as it not recognizing that the phone is not against your ear.... that is a matter for the service department to solve since it seems like a hardware fault.
Really strange! I've a screen protector but don't have this problem... the sensor works fine!!!

It's made out of plastic, really easy to make scratch. And it's very fingerprint attractive. So glossy filter is really good solution.

Same problem, proximity sensor work really weird.
Hi guys, I have the same problem on my HTC HD Mini, when you make a call the screen goes black and will not allow to end call. I have to take battery out to make it work again. I was looking at the registry tweaks for HTC HD2 (leo) and am wondering if those tweaks will work on my mini.
Please, if anyone has a solution, put it on here, have even tried replacing the glass to resolve but not working still.
Same problem. I tried an experiment... when i'm in a light room, works. when i'm in a dark room doesn't work. Really stupid... without light doesn't work!!
If you would, try to put the mini under light when is in calling...
In fact, that's quite normal. If you're calling in a dark room, how do you expect that your phone can "see" the difference between the darkness of your ears and the darkness of the room?
Are you using a screen protector?
I used to have the same issue. But once I remove the screen protector the screen turns back on straight after a phone call.
I believe that the proximity sensor is confused and is affected by having an object pasted over it.
so if someone could experiment with just removing he corner of the screen protector to avoid the sensor, you will not have a issue.
I am using the mini with a screen protector and it has been fine in my pocket...but I am not saying you should try!
My 2 cents!

its made of carbonized whatever mixture just like any other capacitive screen and no theres no way to scratch that thing, iam wearing it in a pocket together with my keys since i bought it and theres no single scratch there, yet the fingerprint thing is very annoying indeed but thats because the material of the screen is very very close to glass.

The lcd and digitiser have been replaced and there is no screen protector on the device. I purchased the lcd and digitiser as a complete unit so as not to have any issues.
The seller reassures me that the product was brand new and had been fully tested. I no longer have the old pieces to test against but this problem seems quite common from the threads on here and gsm forum.
Any solutions or ideas for resolution greatly appreciated, near to pulling all my hair out!!!!!!!!
I have screen protector and I do not have any problem with sensor. Everything works great..
i have the same problem as you.. when i am in a call i cant end it because my screen is black all the time.the only solution i found is when i call i turn the speaker on.please help us

Yes I know... I meant that only works in bright light conditions, such as directly under a lamp or sunlight. in a room or just the shade does not work. So it's "only"a matter of adjusting the sensitivity of the light sensor. I do not even understand how it can be made this "proximity sensor", all I know is that it works with light. Rather, there is a program like the shake'n wake can use?
I have this annoying problem, too.
But I have to say: I have NO screen protectror, and: the divece was repaired by arvato-Services after a broken display. And I didn't have this problem before!
Sometimes i seems to help to puff serveral times into the loudspeeker, so that the screen returns and I'm able tu hang up the call. But sometimes it doesn't works, and if I had spoken to a mailbox (and the other end didn't hang up, so that i MUST hang up) the last solution was to remove the battery.
If there is a way to disable the sensor (i.e. in the registry)?
kind regards
Ye same thing, Mine will only bring the screen back during a call if it is under a very bright light.
Any ideas yet?

Problems with the screen illumination of HTC Desire Z

Hello, I change the screen to my Z and I have this problem.
I noticed the screen flicker when you touch or press the edges of the screen / phone. It's like if you increase the intensity of light.
The display properly reacts to the pressure of the fingers, sliding screen keyboard ...
What can happen? The screen? I open it?
The 2 Connectors of the screen with the board?
Thanks
are you using auto light? if yes try to disable it
I'm guessing it's an issue with the connections. Are you using too much pressure on the screen? I've never seen that happen on mine.

I think this is, I will dismantle it and see what happens.
Repair fail !!
Well I'm back to open the Z and I've broken the screen.
I get those lines and a black spot. 25 euros lost.
I hope it's only the screen and the digitizer.
this happened to me now i cant get anything but the lowest brightness
if you have the same as me its not the screen i think its the cable but i cant find a cheap replacement to test it plus i am thinking of going to the droid 4 if/when it gets its gsm update
Did you manage to fix the problem with your Desire Z screen, I had exactly the same problem after replacing the LCD. I took it apart and put it back together again & again but couldn't find what was causing it.
I think when you take the screen out the first time, you remove that clear glue stuff, and probably make it slightly loose. So what I did was take some of them sticky labels for printing. With a scalpel cut some very thin strips (about 2mm in width and almost the full length of each side), folded them into an L shape and stuck them aroud the 3 edges of the LCD, before sinking it into the housing and the problem is fixed.
Just in case I've not explained that very well, here is a really bad diagram.

Merci all

screen replaced, sometimes i have ghost touch when touching screen, why? :(

i have broken my screen (touch amoled, all the screen) and i bought another one from ebay
looks original and arrived in a samsung service pack box
this new display have something strange in colors when the backlight is low, looks like...don't know how to explain but the colors are not perfect as they were with the factory screen...somehow a little bit green (always when light is low)
anyway sometimes now, like one time every week, after i while i'm using it, the screen go crazy and when i touch it, i see (developer, show touch dots) random touch around my fingers
some days ago this problem happened when i was in a call, me and my interlocutor, we heard a strange noise like bzzzzzrbrbzbrbrbzzzz when i was touching the screen, so there was the touch crazy problem and some strange noise when i was touching the screen
a reboot and everything is ok for some day....
i hope you had understood my poor english
opinions? what can i do? :crying:
ps. i have a 9506
It's probably a fake screen. That would explain your color problem and touch problem.

the screen resolution is correct and with high backlight the colors are perfect, looks like original on the front and on the back
how to check if it's fake?
