Hi , had my X10 for a few days and loving it , but is there anyway to save my photos to SD instead of internal memory .
Read in a few places that it is a thing with 1.6 that stops you downloading stuff to SD , is this also the case with the camera app as well.
Oh and hi to everyone , been a long time lurker on here since owning an XDA Trion and X1.
I'm 80% sure it goes to your SD card by default. It's just apps that you can't load on your microSD card,
Hi , thanks for the reply.
Downloaded Astro File Manager and found them.
You where right they are stored in /sdcard/DCIM/.thumnails.
Thanks again.

wrong they are stored in /sdcard/DCIMP/100ANDRO
thumnails are just for the cach ... they are rezised image for the preview ... so that the device not lags when previewing photos
Just had a look with astro and in /100andro and it says (Directory is empty) are they hidden files or is there any setting i need to use to see them .Its not too much of a problem as i can use the thumbnails.
Doh just realised the thumnails are pictures i downloaded of the net not photos.
Hi - Just checked on my phone the the photo's I've taken with the phone are stored in sdcard/dcim/100andro as per noblackthunder's reply.

I asked for a sd card switcher. But no response.
I searched all around the web but in vain.
So I decided to search on my hard drive because I had one for smartphone.
It wasn't difficult to find it and I would try to install it on my ppc (SPV M3000) and... it works very well !!!
It's very useful for battery life. Switch on/off the SD as you want. This soft can't be easier than it is.
Install the .CAB file by executing it on the ppc and find the shortcut of the app in \Start menu\Accessories folder.
Enjoy !
Sorry, didn't see your message. Could have written this for you

didnt work on mine, cab wont even install. any1 to try extracting it for me??
Note, it gets reset when you eject and reinsert an SD card.
V
almost al my programs and documents are on my 1GB mini-SD card, so I don't think this will be very usefull...
thx anyway!!

i'm at work at the moment (so can't try till tonight)
but, what happens if you have set the camera to save to the card and it's switched off?
Hey, I'm searching how to set the camera to save to the card?
I think if the card is switched off, it will save automatically to the internal memory because of my smartphone it was like this !
answer for the camera please.
THX
You can change that easily in the camera app itself. See :
Teach me: How to save camera pictures directly in MEM. CARD?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39190
i try this on mine.. no luck... cant save battery life then..
Works like a charm here
Did you guys find the sd card was re-enabled on re-inserting?

Hi to all,
yesterday, while i was using bluetooth in my car, it get stucked and, tryng to stop BT service, i get a phone crash, with a reboot.
After that, I noticed my gallery was empty, but all images are still there in my memory card. So I can't see them from N1 Gallery (I get the empty messge)
I tried to delete the .thunmbnail directory in DCIM folder with no luck.
I also tried to reboot a lot of times, also pulling out the MicroSd from slot, but doesn't work.
Is there someone can help me out there?
Thanks

Try installing a different gallery, like Multitouch Gallery from the Market. Do they show up there?
Hi Paul22000,
thanks for your answer.
I unfortunely discovered that my SD was damaged.
So I formatted It, but that doesen't solve my problem. Now I'd like to buy a new one, but I don't know if the brand new SD HC class 10 from Kingstone are compatible with my N1.
The problem is that also HTC doesn't know it!!
Do you know something about that?
UPDATE: I formatted my SD with Panasonic SD Formatting Tool and now seems to work. Pheraps it's not phisically corrupted.
hi guys
i took some pics at a family wedding and since upgrading ROM i don't see them anymore
so they must have saved to phone not card . is there any way i can get them back
please help
tia
you can check your phone memory location using file explorer go to device, my documents, they should be in my Pictures.
Another way is go to Camera tab and press Album (left corner) this will give an overview of what is stored on your device and Storage card check each one
I suggest also going into your camera options and changing the storage option back to storage card

If you flashed a ROM then all prior data is technically unrecoverable. Sorry! ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR DATA!!!!
Oops I missed that you had upgraded your ROM bugger
You could try a data recovery software search google there are lots of freeware
Run the program choose your SD card and see if it finds any JPEG files
I have done this before and was successful
Good Luck
thanks but the photos must have been on the phone all the other photos are still on the card , can you run recovery software on the phone itself
cheers
marty
Ok i've found tons of software to recover from the card but none to recover from the phone itself does anyone know if any exists or a way to see the phone with pc software cos only the card shows up
thanks in advance
marty
I hate to tell you this but once you flash a rom it erases everything on the phone and rewrites it so those pics are gone.
There's no such thing as a photo recovery software for a flash ROM.
I'm sorry for your lost, but once you flash a different ROM, everything is wiped clean. It happens to the best of us, OP. I had similar things happen on my Diamond. Just remember to go through your checklist of the things you need to backup/save before you update the ROM.
Ok strange things
i ran recovery software on the card and found photo's taken on the correct date,
recovered them to pc, can see a thumb nail of 1 which is the wedding but none open , anyone know good recovery software ? i've used kroll ontrack recovery pro
seems flashing the rom did do something to the card (i think)
note to self "always take out card when flashing "
thanks for all help
i live in hope
marty
You wouldn't happen to move the HTC album cache to the SD card, did you?

Sounds like a permissions problem.

yeah but micro sdxc dont have any lock unlock button.. i read on sandisk forums that if happens to these new xc 64gb cards it says read only , they r broken unrepairable.. its weird tho.. i can read and copy all the data on it..:crying:
My friend's Note 3 (N9005) photos disappeared suddenly from "/DCIM/Camera" directory entirely. I tried data recovery referencing from http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/general/guide-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705 using Recuva, TestDisk and PhotoRec but did not recover any of the original photos, all are thumbnails.
From the TestDisk search option, under "/DCIM/Camera" directory, there are no sign of deleted files (Note: Deleted files will be displayed in red text)!!!. OMG!
No success from web search. There are many others whom faced similar problem, read https://www.google.com.sg/search?q=note+3+photo+disappear.
Note: I am no beginner and have some knowledge on data recovery.
Please advise!
Thank you.
Is the DCIM folder on the internal memory or external SD card?
I have had files and photos mysteriously disappearing on my 64 GB SanDisk card..turned out to be a re-labeled 4GB fake card that was causing all the problems.

Hi @Reefee, thanks for the reply.
All photos will be stored in internal storage as there is no sdcard inserted. I've checked the camera settings, resolution is set at high quality, I can first filter out based on resolution size which I have yet to do so, so far just a brief run through at the images which all turns out to be thumbnail size.
Will keep my progress updated.
Sorry for the late follow up, I have yet to find a solution and the cause of this. I couldn't help much and have already returned the phone to my friend then.
Thanks for reading.
