Anybody have a link to the stock htc kb? i dont want the xda mod i'm looking for the default 2.1 htc kb. Everytime I search all i find is the mod.
I know it's on here as I found it not too long ago, it was a package of three files that were all required to make it work properly. I'll see if I can track it down again.

So I noticed a bunch of you are having the 'issue' of the official Rogers HTC Dream not having a software keyboard like the Rogers HTC Magic.
This was posted on haykuro's blog:
http://www.droiddeveloper.com/hrbuilds/htc_ime.zip
Original Link Here: http://haykuro.theiphoneproject.org/?p=213
This is newer than the HTC TouchInput IME that is included on the HTC Magic and is compatible with the HTC Dream. All you have to do to install this keyboard is to extract the .apk file from the zip file and install it with a program such as ASTRO or AppInstaller (no need to push the libt9.so). Afterwards, you will notice that TouchInput will appear in your Locales & Text menu where you can calibrate the keyboard and change settings.
I'm not 100% sure if this works as I don't currently have a device to test with me anymore but I'm pretty sure it worked last time I tried it.
Good luck!
Worked on my currently not unrooted Rogers Dream!
Thanks!

ahhh... the double negative. hehehe.
I didn't have any issues with the htc_ime.apk is this keyboard any better, or is it just the same thing?
hey im new to the whole android thing ive tried to install the htc soft keyboard but had no luck. right now i have the t-mobile my touch 3g..any help plz
Another way I found useful
Go to the market, and find the app "any soft keyboard"
What you do is just search keyboard and keep on scrolling down until you find it, then install it. Then go to local and select any soft keboard
voila
also available in many other languages + dvorak for those interested.

I've been trying to figure out how to install the evo keyboard to the mattc sense, I just need the keyboard with the arrows any help appreciated
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I want that as well very bad and I was keep on asking for help as well but it seem that no one knows or no one wants to help.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696543
there's a mod, but so far only works for desire (with sense) on 2.1.
Can't use that since you need to install via recovery which HD2Droid doesn't have & I tried an evo_ime.apk , hope someone figures it out, it sucks not having no arrows.

When i had a g1 the devs used odexing to speed up the system. If i recall correctly you need both the .odex and .apk in the same directory for it to work as well as an odexed rom. So i dont think that version will work for us.
do you have the apk for evo, so I can try.
just download the fresh evo rom from evo forum. All apks are in it.
Is this made for hd2 or native evo only?

AS A WORKAROUND:
Get htc_ime_jonasl_hires22_27.zip (keyboard) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624416 (Click -> High resolution version (Froyo/2.2)) Now you can use VOLUME KEYS AS ARROWS when keyboard is open. (Enable it from android settings -> keyboard and set it by tapping and holding a text box. Also goto settings, languages and keyboard, htc ime mod settings, user interface, volume keys , select move cursor.
Now I am able to get the cursor where I want easily.
Is it possible to change the key board on a phone? I was using DC's last rom and it had an XDA key board that I liked. I just flashed the .6 version of Sprint/HTC's stock 2.1 rom on my phone. I have rooted it so I can play with it a little and would like to put on another keyboard if possible.........
Thanks for your help..........
Lisa
sure, you can install and use other keyboards, never seen a xda keyboard
I remember in dc's Rom a little xda in the lower left corner.
Where can I find key boards and how would I install it?
After you install a new keyboard you need to long press in a text input box and change input method
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
find the apk and either do "adb install name.apk"
or put the apk in the /system/app folder on the phone and reboot

You're thinking of the HTC_IME Mod, a modded version of the HTC stock keyboard developed by an xda member. The apk can be found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624416
and once the apk files are on your SD card, you can use any file manager to install them.

Hello, I'm a little noobie and I just installed the Virtuous Fusion v1.1.7 rom on my Mytouch 4g. I was just wondering if there is any way i can turn the trackpad wake off or toggle it off, because my trackpad seems to be messed up, and my phone wakes up every time it goes to sleep. If anyone could tell me how to disable the function or turn it off that would be awesome. Thanks alot.
-Much love from little noobie :].
rawr
Halp plzzzzz
You need to download libui.so from one of the first versions (1.0.something_low) and push it to /system/lib.
hey
I have the same problem, does anyone have a patch for this, I have been looking all over the internet for this and no method has yet worked, where can I download that .so file?
Download an early version of the ROM. Locate the file and extract it. Make a nandroid backup and put the file in the same folder on your system that you extracted it from on the older version. It may take a few different versions.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
no offense or anything buddy, but why are you still using Virtuous Fusion? LOL that rom is so old...
ok I found the answer flash the virtuous unity rom v 2.39 and then apply this patch made by @chrisch1974 one of the virtuous rom developers, he did it specially for us mt4g users with messed up trackpads xD worked well for me, good luckhttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/28766802/Virtuous/trackpad_disabled.zip
The link is not working. Maybe someone can share the patch?
Is there any other link available that link is dead
So before anyone says something. I've searched the Forums a good 2-3 weeks before becoming a member to ask this question. I NEED HELP.
Okay so, I've installed the LEO Stock Desire Nand Android Rom on my HTC HD2. Only probably is that the pics sent through mms are very small in comparison to the actual files. I've figured out that I have to edit the mm_prop.conf and change it to say Nexus or N95 instead of the Bravo in order to fix it. But I just can't seem to replace the file or edit it. I've literally tried everything. Mind suggesting new alternatives? Does anyone know how to fix this? Please help. Thanks
So when you say you have been unable do you mean you can't open it and make the changes?
Sent from my HTC Runnymede using XDA App
Let me make a correction. I specified the wrong file. I meant the mm_prop.conf file. And no. I know how to open it and edit it. My question is, how do I re-write the original file that is in the /system/etc directory? Is there anyway to flash it? Because I am having trouble implementing the fix.

U only joined to ask a question -_-
By trying everything I'm assuming u used root explorer to edit the file and checked to see if u can set a user agent in the messaging app itself, haven't been on a Desire build in a while but seeing how they're highly updated I would either reflash or search the thread which u got the rom one more time because that seems like an issue ppl wouldn't ignore
Sent from my HD2 using xda premium
Haha. No, I didn't join just to ask a question. And you would think that someone would ask this question, which they have, but no one has actually found an answer. According to the forums the orginal Leo Stock Desire Nand Android ROM is the only ROM that hasn't been updated since it's release.
So in order to fix the mms problem in this ROM I must edit the file, but everytime I do, I am unable to rewrite the actual file because its permissions make it so that you can't.
Will rooting the phone, make it so that I can gain access of the ROOT files? How would I go about doing that?
And does anyone know how to flash a root system file using the install .zip option in clockwork? Because that sounds like it could solve my problem.
Not exactly sure if this will work for the rom that your using but tytung uploaded a zip that you can flash through cwm that fixes this problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11419702#post11419702
Worked for me on simple mobile
Thanks I'll look into it, but I doubt its compatible with the rom I'm running. Anymore suggestions?
Try going into the messaging app and changing the user agent to NexusOne (in settings and then select custom) you probably still need the file edited somehow, but it doesn't hurt to see if it helps
wow -__-
that last comment doesn't apply to this rom. This rom was the first to be released and doesn't support that feature.
I meant the builds, but just try another Desire rom if its something that irritates you. Just saying
Sent from my HD2 using xda premium
I've already tried that and they all seem like they have either too many bugs, or they're missing some features that the original already offers.
To me the original rom is complete in terms of most functionality and glitches. The only thing it really lacks is the mms fix. Which I'm trying to fix myself, but am stuck...
