with the EVo coming out and it being a droid phone..

The evo uses a different touch sensor and other different hardware so the ROM which we already have shouldn't help much if any. But check out that linux project first link.

2.13 ROM and Cookies Home Tab makes the HD2 have everything that Android has and more... I'm still trying to understand why everyone is on Android's nuts. It get's unstable, it crashes and most of the 50000 apps are garbage.
So what is the point really? Winmo is way more versatile. You just have to be somewhat intelligent to tweak it to it's full potential and maintain. I love window's mobile.

Thats were you are wrong, why would you assume that? I myself got the G1 2 weeks before it came out, had a mytouch 3g, GSM hero, nexus 1... blah blah blah.. and all the phones had the same headachs and got old quick. Used to flash custom roms every day on all the phones. I do love my hd2 more than any android phone ever! Running UNIQ black 2.3 rom and it never ever crashes or freezes. Android is not "epic" it's a good OS that is highly overrated and now people act like it's new and awesome when i've been with it since Day 1.. I personally feel every single OS has it's up's and downs but they are right, android is turning into the iphone as far as the people it attracts.

i love android and i'm starting to love win mo 6.5. both have their stability issues (freezing issues with my older dash and some here with the hd2 vs. the force closing issues with two of my rooted android htc phones).
i'm not gonna hate on either one but android is the future right now since it's continuing to update and get better as the years go by while windows will move on to a more closed platform in win mo 7. however, thanks to guys here at xda for keeping win mo alive. love the tweakability and customization options. i can already do stuff with a stock win mo 6.5 device as i can a rooted android phone e.g., playing flash vids, saving apps to sd card, overclocking, etc. however, stock android OS is beginning to add such customizations with the Froyo update and forthcoming Gingerbread update.

im sure that there are other conversations about it.. but i wanted to start one relevant to yesterday.. not several months ago..

idc, i just want live wallpapers like the nexus one, that would be the only reason why i want the android platform

It drives me nuts when people do this. It is Android! The "droid" is the Motorola phone that Verizon has advertised like crazy and now anytime someone that doesn't know what they are really talking about always reference the Android OS as "droid." Either do just a little more research on the subject or quit being lazy and call it what it is. Just sounds ignorant.

If you had done a search, you would have seen that the same subject was posted a couple of weeks ago when Google handed the Evo out at Google I/O to 5000 developers. Is that relevant enough for you?

I've got a G1 dude... It's cool, but it's nothing special... It's for people who are only smart enough to install programs and remove programs... Which is fine. Whatever. I didn't say Android wasn't a good operating system.

I have to disagree with you on this. Even the rooting process for the G1 is 10x more complex then hacking the HD2. Don't get me wrong I love my HD2 for the hardware... the software on the other hand is 3rd rate. I mean there isn't even a halfway descent photo editor, and don't even get me stated on the lack of any fully functional email app. I have use the browser for everything. Guess you have to take the good with the bad. But back on topic. My sister-in-law got the EVO yesterday and I helped her set it up. I have to say that I am really impressed with it. But I am not giving up on the HD2 quite yet.

Flash player for HD2? how do i get that, that i really need.

I really like both. Had 2x G1's a MyTouch and now have as my work phone a HTC Incredible.
I just upgraded my personal phone to the HD2 and quite skeptic at first as I havent had a winmo phone since the TMO Dash. With Sense, I like winmo now. Running energy ROM and its running great so far. Yea, its a little more deep in regards to the file systems and such. May confuse the everyday user. But, they both are great OS's. I think the android is a little easier to use for the non-tech savy person.
I like having both. The incredible is a FAST android phone with sense running flawlessly...Finally. Im just looking forward to win7 phone OS though and the hopeful port to the HD2.
With all the current hardware; snapdragons, large screens, and mem. I think performance and spped is no longer the issue. Its a matter of opinion on which OS is right for you
Oh, and risky i have flash on both the incredible and HD2...Incredible runs flash way better.

Get this:
http://www.opera.com/mobile/download/
Or read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544770

What it really boils down to is that t-mobile needs to get some decent phones other than the mytouch 3g slide or the nexus 1. I believe the next thing close to the hd2 is the touch pro2 .
A lot of people got bargins on Hd2's and thats why they have them.
I for one bought the hd2 in hopes that Android could be ported.
Difference is I have not once asked if it could be done. I have only searched the forums and read the millions of post asking could it be done based on the incredible or the evo .
I like parts of winmo. It really just doesnt seem like the app development is as explosive as android.
I will not give up my 4.3 inch screen!
And for those of you suggesting that someone just randomly switch.. remember this, not everyone can just up and switch.
As far as t-mobile is concerned,
The g1 is old and dated and the mytouch 3g was almost the same hardware.
the mytouch 3g slide isnt much better and the nexus 1 cant be gotten on contract .

Hi Guys.
Do you know, windows phone 7 can't run windows 6.5.x or older Win programs !!!
so WP7 is completly a new OS ...
Also possibility of running Android is more than WP7 on HD2.
If I want choose a new OS for my hd2, I choose Android...
What about you?
Hi,
With everything you got to start somewhere....
You say WP7 is a complete new OS not backwards compatible but it's just like Android
at beginning there wasn't much compatible neither.
I've tried Android but to my opinion it will be never as good as Windows.
Don't like it.

1+ for Android!
Not that I like it soo much but WP7S have soo many limitations that really criple even the HD2 that I'm not willing to live with! Most of all the lack of multitasking! Second I really like WM for being PC like OS and WP7S is NOT!

WM6.5 is a multitasking OS to my knoledge! You can have many apps working at the same time and they do work at the same time! You can have the media player playing a song while you browse the web can't you?
Who told you this story WP7 isn't Multitasking and wm6.5 is?

+1 WM7
i dont think i am going to chagne from windows to any OS anytime soon
regarding lack of applications, within days after releasing WM7 I assure you, lots of application will be avaliable for it as most of the companies already started developing applications for it.
As WM7 is a new Platform instead of a new version, rumor says it may has a compatability wizard as found on Windows 7 where you can run your old application according to the WM version built for it
regarding the drop of multitasking, still a rumor, also the rumor says, they will replace the multitask with a Pause Application. The rumor goes on to mention that Windows Mobile 7 will allow apps to be “paused,” rather than allowing them to continue running in the background. That pretty much means Windows Mobile 7 will allow apps to save their current state when the user closes them or switches to another app. When the “paused” app is reactivated, the user will see the app exactly as they had left it – text intact, cursors in the same place, document scrolled to the same position, and maps pointing to where you left off. The rumor also makes mention of a push notification system, similar to the way iPhone apps notify iPhone users of updates even when the apps are not running.

i think android will have more and better apps...
Android 1.6, didn't like the interface and didn't see the benefits.
Actualy to me it looked like a cheap copy of MS Windows.
Can you name a few benefits of Android, real benefits I mean no personal opinions like 'it's running faster, is more stable' for example?
And how would you know it will have more apps?

good to see u here tighoor,
actually, i think android is kinda shallow. it forces me to think that the android is just a layer on some childish OS
There is another problem with Android.... if the Apple lawsuit works then Android will be all but dead. It has infringed so many patents (according to Apple) that the US market will be zero, and aparently the Euro market will also be effected to the point the OS is crippled!
I hope Apple fail but just to keep this in mind.
but see

All the previews and technical talks about WP7S I've read and wathed over the net suggest that the OS win NOT have fully working multitasking support! Yes you can have multiple programs running but they will be on something like pause while in background! Atleast this is what I've seen till now. We will have to wait some more months to see the end result! I'm not an Android follower too but if an alternative to WM6.5 is possible on the HD2 I'll choose Google's creation!
But once again it is too early to make a choice yet! Lets see what will MS's OS be and then we can decide!
About Apple! They are desperate becouse HTC's handsets are getting more popular than the i**** 3GS and the HTC Hero won the "phone of the year" award! Why don't they sue Samsung or Acer, or LG or even Motorola? They all build Android devices! Just think what will happen to the iPhone if Google decides to stop Apple's device access to their services! iPhone RIP!!!
Oh I forgot about Nokia (most of the new symbian touch screen handsets slide their menus with a finger) Asus (GarminAsus devices) an so on and so on... Apple should sue the all industry! In my unproffesional opinion they are not verry well (mentally)
Excuse my bad English!
And Microsoft is waiting how Apple and Google kill each other hihi.. LoL

I think that Apple don't stand a chance against Google! If they try to fight google it will be like trying to cut the branch you are on!
I'd prefer 6.5.X or a jailbroken WP7s.
I currently kinda hate android's interface and I think it's really slower than it should be on a 1GHz snapdragon (Nexus1). Something like the transition between homescreens shouldn't lag, but it does.
If future versions are better I may like them, but in it's current state no.
+1 Windows Phone 7 Series
From what i have seen WP7S is much much more beautiful than the Android OS. Also WP7S will have a great range of Games and Software once after it is launched. It'll be totally much more fun as i dont run any Google OS on my PC but Microsoft Windows
android !!!
Wm7 is very poor for me !
I Prefer win 7
hey god........in my advice if micrsoft take off on his pertinacity & release se7en for hd2 win7 az the best os for ppc

I'm outta here... Android here I come !

After months of installing custom ROMs to try and just make the Jurassic Park WM OS work like it should I've taken the plunge and ordered an HTC Desire.
It's been a wild ride, and I would especially like to thank Sir Sternas for his custom ROMs that made the phone work as best as it could.
There was huge potential there, but the Mickeysoft OS really let down this great phone.
Now I'm off to explore Android OS !

bye....have fun and report back your thoughts !!!
Installed Android yesterday and it seems to be working fine, so I can choose. Yeehaaa!!!
gonna get my android soon too!
well done, you do that, having used android on the HD2 for a while now im sticking with WM, android offers nothing new except the app stores, HD2, running latest WM 6.5.3 with sence 2.5 flys like you wouldnt believe, zero problems, very stable very good bat life very fast and smooth i really dont know what it is your looking for but good luck in finding it, i suspect its just a case of the grass is greener.....and open source must be better.
and before anyone starts im assuming that android will be quicker, more stable and bug free, but even with those assumptions it brings nothing new.
I love windows mobile to death but its crazy to me how my T-mobile usa G1 never froze on me when I had it, never lagged how much windows mobile lagged and I never faced as much problems like windows mobile but at the end of the day still with windows mobile lol....but hd2 is my last windows mobile phone I will be back to android. Windows 7 looks like an cheap version of the iphone and I feel its a step down from windows 6.5.
P.S: Please don't bash me for my opinion
I flash probably once every three weeks and have dones so for 18 months or more, yet every ROM still feels work-in-progress (and I say that meaning no disrespect to some wonderful cooks). 6.5 is buggy, and sometimes Sense is as well. The keyboard error *still* rears it's head in newer ROMs.
It's ridiculous that I can bash out texts on a 10-year-old Nokia faster than I can on the HD2 - I nearly ordered a dumbphone for this reason today.
I love my HD2. but as we're not married yet I can still badmouth it!
I don't know why people can't positives in both OS's. I personally believe android is more versatile. But I can't seem to pry myself completely away from windows mobile. Cht is amazing and that's what's kept me with windows mobile for so long. Nrg makes awesome roms. So lets just understand that not everyone has the same needs.

Android doesn't provide all the hardware drivers. That's what the developers are working on now for the HD2. You can't just plop Android onto new hardware and think it'll just work. It's not as amazing as that.
Android and WM both have their pros and cons. (I have owned both for at least a year.)

Why Android???

Honestly!...
Why should I flash "googles" Android into my Bad Ass HD2???
No Joke! I need to know what all the fuss is about...
Why you ask? Well for a number of reasons. A search will tell you all of that as im sure this question has been asked over and over lol.
If you need to ask...
Seriously, why don't you just try it? You're not flashing anything. You won't lose any of your current information. I was enjoying the hacked versions of WinMo on my HD2, but now with Android I don't feel I need to ever go back.

Let's be nice. Android is pretty limitless many things can be added. Winmo is sorta outdated. Right now winmo has a lot of community support but that's just not enough. Try it . Dont expect anything and see what you get.
Biggest problem I see is winmo users go into android expecting the same experience.

Funny one
topic: some things are better with android, some arent. I think the interesting fact is to chose the operating system YOU want to use.
You can compare it with the operating system situation on your PC. Some people want to use Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, MacOSX,.....
I think it's a perfectly legitimate question: Not everyone has the love of digital adventures, tweaking or driving someone with more knowledge up the wall we do.
Why not just say what you like about Android? Unless you're not sure....well?
I enjoy reconfiguring my phone. I must have flashed custom WinMo ROM's a hundred times and radios tens of times. Configuring script to put my applications back the way they were, testing the build for smooth operation, stability and features had been a thrill of mine...my hobby, I guess you'd say, since the HD stemming from late 2008.
Android just kind of picks up where Winmo left off. I'm using Elegancia ROM and have been for months. It works great with the Android offerings.
Is Android better? If that's your question, then in my opinion, WinMo is better than Android on the HD2 as of this writing, by Android on this device is catching up incredibly fast.
Maybe you'll like it, maybe not. If your interested enough to chance getting flamed, then you are most likely a candidate to give it a go.
3 simple reasons
1. faster internet browsing
-android have simply a faster browsing experience for me, faster than opera on wm anyday
2. market
-the abundance of customization and application in the android market vs the wm store is like comparing a walmart to a gas convience store for choice of app and avaibility of apps
3. utility
-android simply utilize our screen and hardware much more efficently than windows. try the foursquare app on windows, and then try the foursquare app on android, it's like comparing a dirt road to a 5 lane highway in terms of usability and speed

Try it and see. Nothing to lose except maybe half an hour of your time.
As said above its 'hoarses for coarses'. I wasnt expecting much from Android because Minmo did everything I needed +more, plus it looked ok visually IMHO using CHT etc.
But android just feels slicker somehow...plus I'm not yet missing any of the features that I thought I really loved in winmo. Just the fact of having a good Market is a BIG plus for some people (myself now included although I always thought I'd never care for thousands of mainly pointless apps )....Android is generally a LOT more finger friendly than any 6.5.x build..... the list goes on.
Personally I am becoming a convert FAST. I will almost deffinately switch soley to Android when a proper android rom is released.
Dual booting is great and its always nice to have the option of two O/S's, but I find myself wanting to see Winmo less and less everytime I wake my new Android phone from its beuty sleep I just dont love Winmo like I used too lol.
But the only way you will ever really know is if you try it for yourself go on you (probably) wont be dissapointed.
WinMo stock = sack of **** on the HD2, you have to hack and slash away until you eventually get something that works. Then, and only then can you continue to play around with it.
Android, out of the box it works, and your free to play around with it and make it your own. If it wasn't for Android my HD2 would have be sold.
The touch screen and general Windows Mobile performance just pissed me off, you could triple the power of the HD2 and you still wouldn't get a smooth, slick experience.

1+ on this one!
Thousands of apps straight from the marketplace, as opposed to a few hundred you have to get off the internet.
Oh, and flash.
Android is so good, why the hell did htc ship the hd2 with winmo?
Also hats off to the devs for making this possible, to use android on the best phone out there!

i like android because of the limitless apps, you'll never need for anything again for a phone. the market was the main reason for me because most apps are free, now google maps include free navigation! windows mobile who? lol plus even with android being ported to our hd2 it out performs windows mobile, less freezes and errors. programmed to work better! internet browsing, smoother and faster. once u learn all the features and how to use widgets u will like wmo less and less. i never seen myself becoming a fan of android when i was solely against it when i had touch pro 2
Me??? Because WinMo is Sh*t. If I couldn't have loaded Android on this HD2... it would have been on Craigslist an hour after I got it.
Unless of course bloated, clunky, slow, crashing, lack luster garbage is someone's thing... l would advice them to stay away from Android.

100% Functional ROM

I'm currently using a Vibrant (rooted, flashed, blah blah) but I've been looking into getting an HD2 to play with now that they're going for dirt cheap on craigslist. Before I do this, could anyone tell me if there are any 100% functional android roms out? I had an hd2 when it first came out, and wasn't a winmo fan. At all. But now that there's been a lot of progress made, I'm willing to give it another try.
No... there are currently no Android ROMs for the HD2. you still need a Windows Mobile ROM and run Android off of the SD
Please refer to the Android Development section in the other HD2 area for Android builds and news regarding Android development.
Nope, there is no a 100% working build yet. All android builds have users reporting SOD, long wake up time, and other issues like low in call volume levels.
Alright, thank you both. As for winmo, one of my main concerns was the lag in texting, using sense, etc. Have any steps been taken to improve these issues? I would search the forums if I could, but I'm getting a pretty lousy connection here in my building. Also, I didn't get very good 3g on my HD2. Have any connection fixes come out?
To answer your questions, No and Yes(Maybe). Texting through the HTC client is still as slow as ever, but if you disable it and use the regular WinMo text program everything is gravy. And the connection issues are probobly just your area, but you can always flash a new Radio ROM and see if it helps any.

Wow are stories are exactly the same! I had a HD2 the first week they came out then sold it because of WinMo. I also bought a Vibrant and still have it (Rooted and playing with ROMS). I now bought a HD2 to play with and experiment with ROMS and Android on it.

The world will never know!
I can tell you that there is an offical 3.15 tmo rom out there as a RC. I've put it on several phones and so far can state that it has cured all problems we've experienced with the HD2.
I need to test swype+text tho, forgot about that one!!
Official 3.15 ROM eh? Where is the link?
Actually it's 3.14, and still officially in testing phase, although it's more of a release candidate. Splash screen says "Test, not for sale" and all that.
So "official" was a bad choice of a word, but I did get it directly from TMO.
I too own the Vibrant and got an HD2 to play around with. The HD2 is nice, but I love my Vibrant, and would never use the HD2 as a primary phone until a complete Android port is available. Nice hardware, just a POS OS. I am curious to see what the update brings to WinMo on the HD2. It goes without saying that I am anxiously awaiting a 100% functional Droid ROM on this thing.
See, its people like this that bring WinMo down for no reason. WinMo, especially on the HD2 is no "POS OS". WinMo runs circles around Android as far as compatability and open-ness is concerned. Android may look "nicer"(if looking like Ubuntu is nice...), but WinMo has it where it counts...*cough no rooting to access file system cough*.

Have you tried installing Cookies Home Tab Editor on your HD2? It's free and makes a Winmo phone have the same functionality as Android with all of the icons, widgets, etc. Supports multiple pages of icons with a home screen just like Android, but also with the sweet Windows mobile stuff as well. Double the awesome. Check it out if you haven't.
WinMo is just a little more nerdy in terms of customization compared to the Iphone and Android. There is a lot to learn and if you aren't at least semi computer savvy and into nerding out on your phone (reading a lot), it's not the phone for you. I wouldn't recommend it for my 60 year old mom.
Mostly, Winmo phones aren't awesome out of the box usually. In terms of out of the box, the HD2 is the best winmo phone that I've seen. Sense is clean.
I have an HD2, Jailbroken Iphone and a Rooted G1 and have played with newer Android devices. The HD2 is by far, still the best. It just does more awesome stuff. You can customize anything on Winmo. ANYTHING.
I really like all three operating systems though. None of them suck.

Which Android Looks Like Stock 6.5 on HD2?

hi, guys. i was about to sell my htc hd2 becuz after modding it, it just fell short of my expectations.. it caused huge batt drain and was slow. i want to give it one more chance. i never installed android on it, but i want to. but, i want an android version that:
1) saves battery life the most, and is fast.
2) and one that looks like the 6.5 stock with sense from the hd2.
if any of you can suggest an android version based on these needs, please let me. thanks.

1) "Android" drains more battery than Windows Mobile, always. The reason I quote it is because Android itself doesn't drain more battery, the user drains more battery. Android is much more versatile and user friendly than any other OS out there so you have more things on it and use it more, therefore...less battery life. Sense roms drain the battery even further, more eye candy/features = more drain. Non-Sense roms drain the least battery and CyanogenMod roms (CM/CM6/CM7 as they're referred to) are a little better than Sense roms when it comes to battery drain (most of the time), however, I prefer Sense as it just looks better and has more handy features; for Sense I recommend CMYLXGO's (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915159) or CoreDroid's (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=926507) --- I personally use CoreDroid's as CMY's has been giving me crashes when changing notifications and sometimes the dialer hangs, CoreDroid is fantastic though and looks nice with the theming, I'll stick to that for quite a while. As for Non-Sense roms, I recommend HyberDroidGBX (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=918899).
2) As for one that looks like WM6.5, I don't see it happening. None come like that stock that I've seen and I've never seen a theme that looks like it, in my opinion, it would take far too many apps/widgets to make it look like WM6.5 to keep it stable.
In my opinion, if you want to get rid of you HD2 because of the battery life/speed, you won't be happy with another phone ever again.
I assume this is your first 'true' smart phone, their battery is just as good as an old Nokia/Motorola phone when it comes to standby, but what do you expect when you have a screen 4 times the size and features out the ass? If you want a smartphone AND long battery life, there's one solution...use it for Phone calls only (and render it useless as a smart phone in the process)
The HD2 is an extremely fast phone, it was on the top for speed for quite awhile.
The HD2 was meant for Android, why they limited it to WM blows my mind but it crippled it.
Run Android on your HD2 and you'll be happy; Android beats WM in every way possible IMO, they're almost perfectly stable now too. VERY minor bugs left with these Android builds.

iPhone is actually slower than the HD2 in terms of specs, iPhones just 'appear' faster because iOS is as simple as Windows 95 and Windows Mobile is as slow as...I don't really have a pun for this one but it's slow.
The battery life is based upon the user, I will admit that iPhone's have a little bit of a better battery life (as long as you don't abuse 3/4G).
Keep in mind, you're basing your assumptions about the HD2 off of WM which is slow and lacking features all on its own.
Hey Koolxx glad to see you in the Android forums.
I truly hate to see you say you are considering selling (I read your other thread in the HD2 General forum too) your HD2 as the HD2 is not just your run of the mill smartphone. It was the first in a new wave of smartphones because of the screen size, screen resolution, and 1gz Snapdragon processor. If you take a look at the new smartphones that have been and are being released after the HD2 you will see exactly what I mean.
I loved and still do love Windows Mobile, it was a pioneer as far as a what a truly functional mobile OS should be and the capabilities it has. I have considered several times going back to Windows Mobile since I made the switch to Android, but have not for several reasons.
1. I just can not bare the thought of having to deal with the quirkiness of Windows Mobile, everyone should know what I mean by that.
2. I truly believe Android is the OS of the future. Android is growing at such a rapid pace it is leaving other OS's behind. One reason for this is not because of the popularity of Android but because Android is a open sourced system meaning anyone who can contribute to it as far as improvements and features can. This is what is meant when you hear "When it is no limits to what Droid gets, it is no limit to what Droid does."
3. Android has way more apps, development, and hacking support than Windows Mobile at this point.
4. I am learning everything I can about Android right now as I want to be a developer.
I could give more but those are the basic reasons. If you are still interested in going Android please click on the link in my sig that says "Guide" at the front. It can help you out a whole lot. Plus I have links in there to two of the best guides on installing Android to your HD2. My guide is meant to be more of a educational tool than a tutorial on how to flash Android or WP7.
I know you said you like the iPhone and Apply does have some good products. But I hate Apply because to me they are totally disrespectful to the consumer, you know the people that actually by their products. If I pay a large chunk of money for a device I want to be able to do what I want to with it. Not be told I can only use it in they way that the manufacture or OS developer wants me to. After all I paid my money for the device so it belongs to me not them. I could go way deeper into the conversation but this post is already massive.
Let me know if I can help you out any.

I am not going to argue about the iPhone. I never used it, I don't like it so I have nothing to say about it.
About android.
Really? You want a build which is themed to look like a WinMo stock? Why?
check this thread to see what Android GUI is about and the endless customizations you can do.

I cannot accept the fact that you want to sell your HD2 (the only device that support so many OSs) before even trying Android.
I am using Android since the firsts SD build came out and once NAND was out I have never changed back to WinMo.
Battery life for me is better than WinMo in equal use but as hd2k10 said it is the user who is draining the battery and not the OS.
There are Sense, Non-Sence and MIUI builds.

By whom and when? IMO iPhone 4 is equally fast as HD2 with stock Android. And YES, I have used iPhone 4 a lot (my father owns it and I'm always helping him with something, intuitive OS my a** ) and both phones are just instant. I mean there is no lag at anything. But often iOS has to load something and you just sit there and admire blank screen before stuff appears. Never seen that on my HD2.
Android is as fast as the device it's running on. HD2 is amazingly fast, and so is OS running on it.

Back to topic, if you looking for fast, smooth and stable rom, check that one I have in my sig. I use it for months now and Im very satsified. Only you know, what are you looking for. Every rom thread has description of it, what is working and what is not, screenshots and users personal feelings about it. Well, everybody got his own preferences regarding to rom. As for you question, you cant have Android 2.3.4 until imilka release update to his rom. Maybe if you ask in his thread, you should get an answer. Besides, there is not much difference between 2.3.3 and 2.3.4. Just small improvements and bug fixes. Give it a try, you want to sell your HD2 anyway.

If you want 2.3.4 you need to go with Unofficial [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=940684&highlight=Cynagen+Nighly+7"]Cynogan Nighlies for HD2, NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.7 , or TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.2.2. Now as far as getting the look of the Imilka ROM, well his ROM has the look you are talking about because it is based off of the Desire HD and that is the UI the Desire HD has. I do not know if you can get a launcher or theme like that on your HD2 but the chances are very high that you can. You will just have to go into the Android Market and grab some launchers and then look at what themes the launchers offer. Or you can always download a Android Kitchen and start modding the ROM to your liking. Also check out these two sections HD2 Android apps and thems and Android Themes .

1) I recommend Cynogan Nighlies for HD2 ( have not tried yet but will soon) or TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.2.2 (I have tried and liked it but I was using MAGLDR).
2) As long as the launcher supports the Android version which most launches support all Android versions including 2.3.4 then you can use them on any android device or Android ROM, you get the lauchers from the Android Market or do a Google search for Android launchers and download the .apk file and put it on your SD card and then use a file explorer in Android to find the apk and open it. Andropid will ask if you want to install the apk.
3) I really do not know all the advantages just yet but I know that you can get a couple of themes on 2.3.4 that you can not on 2.3.3. But i am sure there is more differences than that although I highly doubt they are very drastic.
4) The man reason is becaus I have been real busy around my house lately and have not had time to go to a WiFi spot to download some more ROMs. Plus I have been trying to get a Android kitchen up and running on my computer. But I keep getting a damn Bash.exe error saying cynwin.dll is missing from your computer and I have not been able to correct it yet. So you see I have been kinda preoccupied.
5) This I really do not know, I would have to be able to look at his ROM in a kitchen and also use ADB on it to see if I could track down the source of the problem, might would even have to decompile it. You have to remember the Andriod ROMs for the HD2 all come from other devices so they have to be modded to work with the HD2's hardware.
6) Yes 2.3.4 is the most resent Android phone release and it has not been out very long. You do have Android 3.0 Honeycomb but it is suppose to be just for tablets. But devs have been porting it to phones. The HD2 has a 3.0 honeycomb port but it is still really buggy still.

1) I recommend Cynogan Nighlies for HD2 ( have not tried yet but will soon) or TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.2.2 (I have tried and liked it but I was using MAGLDR).

hi, t-mac. at this point, i'm confused. i looked at the droids you recommended and to be honest, i'm just not feeling them. i just want a very fast and reliable droid where everything (including wifi and cam) works with no glitches. and one where i can install a theme that looks like the desire hd. if that means installing 2.3.3 instead of 2.3.4, then so be it. but i got to have these conditions met.
i know i'm asking alot out of you. and i appreciate your time. but i just ask for more recommendations based on my needs. thanks man.
