best calculator for PPC ever - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

I found SFR Calculator is actually gorgeously BEST!!
it remains the entries and results in the onscreen papersheet,I thought this is not neat thing, but after I tried it personally,it's rapturously good.
In simple calculation, I think SFR Calculator is better than Hicalc,iSS SciCalc,Panoramic Calc Pro,Omega One 1-Calc etc.
Hicalc etc are very cumbersome.
Try to calculate 750/9654 for example,in SFR Calculator v2.0.0,the result is 0.07768800...
(if the result is not this, you can go to Menu >Extras >Preferences >Rouding >no rounding)
If you try iSS SciCalc,Panoramic Calc Pro etc,the result is 7.768800 -002,there is no setting to make the result become 0.07768800...
So which one is best?
If you want to see the screen shot and download, pls search Google "SFR Calculator v2.0.0 mobil***",the first result. [edited:the site the google search will direct to is against xda rules]
You can go to Menu >Extras >Preferences to make buttons bigger,so it's very finger friendly.
Forget about HTC calculator, yes,it's very good looking, but it only supports 9-digit in portrait mode. see my complaint:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694914

pffff...
I think you have some problems with maths/physics.. Do you know what is scientific (exponential) notation ??? FYI, 0,077688 = 7,7688 * 10^(-2)
Exponential notation is standard form of number writing, so the answer should be written in this form

Hmm, if I use HTC Calculator, and simply rotate my device (don't even have to slide out the keyboard) that same calculation (750/9654) results in 0.07768800497203. So, which one is better?

I know this. but it's not easy to rotate the screen...anyway,it's awkward movement, when you move your hand to write the number, maybe the screen "eacapes' back to portrait mode, everyone knows what i mean.
plus, some roms....there is no auto landscape mode for HTC Calculator, you must slide keyboard out,moreover....in landscape,it's kinda scientific calculator,in screen it appears like this" 3+5*6-9". I want a calculator like the one we use in our office.

thanks for comment, yes,my math is indeed bad,so I dont want to stand there using my brain to figure out 7,7688 * 10^(-2) is 0,077688.
I want the screen to show exactly 0,077688.

i if you want a really powerful calculator, you should try SMath studio (it's freeware) . Maybe, the interface is not user-friendly.. it is quite similar to MathCad : )

Dont know if its me, I find it looking like PocketCM. With a different theme but with a small additional feature, call history
I agree with you. It's way too similar... and they're developing a "sms chat"... I saw that before right here on the forums...
Would be a nasty abuse of tene's hard work. He did the work, he deserves the money!!
IMHO tene's version is still a lot better, but it does indeed look like theft.
I saw on their site they're develloping easy-type as well, which might be similar to PocketCM keyboard! If so... a bloody shame!

Well, maybe I'll play against myself, but as long as they don't use my binaries, that's fine. It seems to me that's another implementation of the same ideas, and I don't own the ideas.
Did anyone tried it? is it good? for 19.95$ I hope it is
haven't tried it, why pay when i can use your version free
I gave this one a shot
Although there is no novelty as far the idea is concerned, the implementation is quite good!
Heres the difference between tene's version and this one :
1:> One tab assigned to Call Logs
2:> Animations are slightly different (Flip up/down instead of Flip Left/Right in tene's version)
3:> Setting a contact as a favourite is extremely easy
(On the contact detail screen , there is a star..you just have to select that star to set the contact as favourite..IMHO this is easier/quicker than two taps approach in tene's version)
4:> Animation seems slightly faster and even browsing through the alphabet index is very quick
5:> No support for SMS chats
Most important difference IMHO is that contacts can be edited/deleted through this app. This is a very nice feature as it allows you to change user information be it contact number/address/name etc. using its own input method/panel (Although creating contacts is still via normal way)
All in all,a good effort..but I wouldnt like to pay for this one especially when a free alternative is available and that too a very good alternative .Nevertheless,I would expect tene to give a look in to the features for his next version (if theres gonna be one)
I'll continue
6:> About 1,4mb installation
7:> Pretty slow to boot
8:> Weirdest built in keyboard ever.
9:> Much more fluid in use than pocketcm. (wizard)
10:> Scrolling works much better (slows down and accelerates more like an iphone)
you can download a trial version...
personal opinion, it sucks compared to tene's CM...
the only advantage is that it has a call log which probably tene can easily add.
- pictures do not show on the initial phonebook list
- also phone numbers do not show
- pager numbers do not show on contact details (i'm a doctor and use very frequently)
- no sms (my favorite part in tene's CM)
- you can only sort by either first, company or last name (CM you have an option to sort by city, category, company, sms....)
- comes in only one boring theme - (there are some excellent themes out there for CM and i like to change every few days)
- doesn't have the search option.
- address doesn't show in contact details (you have to press a button which takes you to the built-in contact manager for the address and more details!)
the list goes on and on...
so, NO way would I pay 20$ for that software... even if it was for free and I had to pay for Tene's CM I would still prefer tene's CM, his software is far more superior.
lol @ the built-in keyboard
I'll add:
11:> PCM looks much nicer not to mention PCM can use themes. Funcontact can't.
12:> PCM has a lot more features (although that's also exactly the same thing I hate about PCM.. it's starting to become bloatware). Funcontact works.. it does what it needs to do in a convenient and fast way.
13:> No support for landscape (it doesn't flip even if you slide the keyboard). It stays in portrait no matter what. It's good in a way because it keeps the app stable, unlike PCM which starts to screw up whenever I slide my keyboard out to type SMS.
14:> It caches everything on memory on program start
15:> So far, it's very stable
16:> It uses the WM GUI for sending messages
Well, maybe I'll play against myself, but as long as they don't use my binaries, that's fine. It seems to me that's another implementation of the same ideas, and I don't own the ideas.

It's obviously still in its infancy...
If you take a peek at the BMPs for the app. they show Call and End icons plus many others, waiting to be switched on!
It's been said already that there is development planned for SMS chat and a better keyboard (their current one is BIZZARE!).
I've put it on my phone to do a comparison and it does seem faster (once it's loaded). This might be inpart due to the lack of fades and zooms between some screens.
I like the contact detail screen and the simple option to SMS to any number. Very nice deign, but then it should be...they pay professional designers to do the work.
The switch to view the contact in the Windows app is almost INSTANT! so no worries for me about a lack of address.
Given some layout options and skins and maybe 6 months to develop, it could be excellent.
Does use a lot of RAM to run though and I miss the filter option at the moment. Like I say thgouh, time will tell which app comes out on top.
I'm very much looking forward to Tene's next release, due soon. If he's got any sense (and he has), some of the nice little touches may well find their way into PocketCM
Oh yes, if you want the Vito icons for your PocketCM theme, you know where to go ;-)
As some have noted, PocketCM is free. However, that should not stop you from supporting Quentin's (Tene's) hard work and donate *something* so that he CAN continue to support and refine it with your direct suggestions.
G.
Hey, I also tested this "funcontact".
Its not bad, and looks also nice, but the scrolling didnt work well on my prophet... PCM does...
I prefer PCM because it can handle my SMS and there are possibilities to customize.
The only thing better in funcontact is the callLog.
PS.: It looks really like PCM, but its not the orignial.

If yoo use a software and you like it show some apriciation with a donation..

App ideas needs devz (or big help) !

Because i never find a countdown skinnable and powerfull, I was thinking of one that can do the standard job (Counting down ) with thumb friendlyness like the time settings for an appointement in thumbcal and where you can use a database of countdown like for cooking (eggs meats ....) or meditation timing (where you can choose an easy listening mp3 to came back to "real"). It will do parallell counting like my meat and my meditation.
I'm shamed because i think it's a long but easy job for a part of you but i can't do it myself, i've spent to much time learning to help others but not in a programming way.
I haven't find that for weeks on google so perhaps it doesn't exist.
Thanks for reading (perhaps answering).
PS: reminder: _skinnable
_thumbfriendly
_multitask
_database that anyone can enhance
_and why not easy to use (configurator for .ini or stff like that)
Some kind of timer?
But why skinnable? The most important thing is functionality. Or do you just want to watch at it?
skinnable
Because i've noticed that when an app can be "design" by users it is more attractive, it can enhance the theme/skin your using but you're right first it must be functional and exhaustive. And like most of people here i like to change apps looking to my way.
ps: pocketscreen is great that's the one i'm using.

good calculator programs? what do you use?

hey guys i couldn't find any posts about good calculator programs, i got To0's rom v2 and it didn't come with a
calc and i kinda need one that does basic operations. os= wm 6.1 thanks
I use gCalc. I cant remember where and how I got it but I can probly find it and post it, that if you want it.
1-Calc Lite is the greatest free calc in my opinion, great interface, and includes a tip calc and unit converter.
gCalc
To the best of my knowledge gCalc was written by one of the members here; greatbal. I use it every day. Works flawlessly and pleasing to the eye. It is also skinnable.
The download links at his blog don't work anymore but you can get it here:

RPN Calc
Anyone know a good Reverse Polish Notation Calculator? I love RPN, I still use my HP41cx from the 80's almost every day. I've tried the HP41cx emulator but I don't like the small buttons, the red border and it opens a little slow.
Thanks

APP Request - SIP AUTO - or Hardkey

Hey all - app request to the developer crowd.
I am looking for an app that will allow the keyboard to be auto selected dependent on certain apps,
ie.
Internet Explorer / Opera = samsung keyboard / fingerkeyboard
SMS / Email = Phonepad
if its too difficult to code to auto select, how about making the on screen SIP selector assignable to a hardkey - the little pop up drives me crazy..I either press the right hand softkey or I press and press and press and nothing happens..
Thanks all
I'm rocking a Samsung Omnia - WinMo 6.5 from Sector @ Modaco.
Hope someone can help with this little app.
That's a really great idea. (You could do with MortScript and VJSwitchSIP, but it'd be messy.) It'd be nice to have one app that'd do it.
Can I bump this in case anyone out there can make such an app.
it seems it would get interest from the community.
please anyone reading this post add a comment saying if you would find this useful
Cheers

TouchLockPro has a built in SIP changer, which depends on the Stylus position or Keyboard (Touch Pro). I do not know if it works also on Omnia, you could try. The source code can also be downloaded, so the interesting part can be reused.

Leo Build-in calculator Need help

eh i want to ask u ppl.
how come when i use the calculator
e.g i press ==> 18.90-10%= it give me 18.80
did i press wrongly?
Yes, that is "correct". "Correct" in quotes because "percent" really just means "one-hundredths", so 10% is exactly equal to 0.1.
Other calculators might decide to interpret it differently, but the operation 18.9 - 10% = 18.8 is still a technically correct answer. You might want to try 18.9 * 90% instead.
omg...
older version of htc is not count like tht.. sigh!
I hadn't noticed until I read your post and tested it, an you're right, it sucks!

Well. I'll be blowed, didn't know it done that!!! Only had the phone a few days
The % was incorrect also; 100-20%=99.8??? How strange
In portrait mode the calculator operates as a business calculator, but in landscape mode it works as a scientific calculator.
To demonstrate this enter the following exactly as written into your calculator in both modes:
3 + 2 * 5
In portrait mode it will give 25 as the result, whereas in scientific mode it will give 13 as the result. Both are correct in context. In scientific mode it will use operand precedence - hence the multiplication will be carried out before the addition if it's not used with parenthesis.
For the OP's original question, the correct result will be obtained if you divide the original sum by the (percentage plus 1) you wish to deduct. e.g for 10% use 1.1 for 17.5% use 1.175 ... and so on.
So to deduct 10% (say as a discount) from 18.90 then type in 18.90 divided by 1.1 to give the result 17.181818r
Conversely to add on a markup multiply the net amount by the percentage value plus one.
Simples!

mate, now I know maths isn't the greatest subject in the states... but all of you?
ok, j/k
2% = the second part out of one hundrer = 0.02... hope this is clear
so if you press 2% and then equals, you'll get 0.02, which is correct
if you try, 100-20%, you will get 99.8, which is correct again. if you want to get 0.8, then you have to use the brackets (100-20)%
and i case you didn't know it yet, what % does is to devide the number to 100... obviously
and since, in the equation 100-20% (which really is 100-20/100), the division has a greater priority, that's the operation that comes first...
