If you happen to have an iPhone you're willing to give up, T-Mobile appears to be running a promotion at certain locations through May 19 that would give between $100 and $350 off of a new HD2 for anyone trading in a working handset.
***
This is a great deal for all the iphone users who are tired of their device and decide to jump on the hd2 bandwagon. It must be noted though that this offer is good only at PARTICIPATING t-mo dealers, so it's better to check with your local store if it's joining the club
The other great thing is that you don't need to sign a new T-Mo contract when making the trade-in.
For more info, take a peek here:
http://www.tmonews.com/2010/04/trade-in-your-iphone-for-an-hd2/
It's fake, I went to the store and employees have never heard a blip of this deal.
It's posted on april first anyways.

Actually, sorry to break it to you... but it's NOT a "fake".
I'm a T-Mobile Sales Representative in Dallas, TX. And a close friend of mine, also fellow XDA user, "Heartbreak" utilized said offer just this afternoon.
He actually received $400 in "store credit". We only had one HD2 available.
That invoice that's picture is REAL. Just because it isn't "promoted", doesn't mean there aren't ALWAYS such deals going on.
Does it have to be an Iphone?

YES! YES! And... YES!
It absolutely has to be an Apple iPhone. And from what I understand... we're NOT taking 1st Generation devices, but in some cases, my managers both suggested we're willing to make exceptions based on the conditions.
Anyway, this is quite charitable of T-Mobile, considering very few companies EVER do such a thing in terms of providing one of the hottest devices on the planet (right now) for the most popular, in exchange for store credit.
T-MOBILE USA, FTW!!!
I was *just* able to order my HD2.. literally 5 minutes before I found this post.
if you go to the website on the screenshot, is asks for a promo code.. how are customers provided with the code? should I call back?
I'm headed to my local Best Buy store to be there when the doors open at 10:00 a.m. today to pre-order the Evo... is anyone else going to get this phone right away? For those who don't know, if you gave Best Buy your email address at the Evo page on their site, they sent out an email last night around midnight pacific time saying that you could pre-order the Evo now. There doesn't seem to be any way to pre-order it online yet, so I'm gonna be at the store today! See you there?
Let's try to get an idea of which store you pre-ordered from and how many people were there, or if you're going to wait and try to get one when it comes out June 4th?
just did...10:00 Chicago!
pre-ordering the Sprint Evo 4G at 10:00 a.m. May 13, 2010
Give us the details when your done.
Amazon or wirefly will probably have it cheaper but you do go on.
awesome rockky, how did it go? for those of us who haven't preordered a phone at best buy, what can we expect? what's the process like? were there many other people there? preoorder supplies limited?

me too, STL Missouri, BB rep new but the mobile guy did not, then the mobile was shocked at the $199.99 price tag, as he looked at his iPhone in disgust. haha
Neither of them knew what they were doing and one was a manager but I have my receipt locked in the safe Christmas or Birthday eek:I will figure out what to say to the wife later) is early for me!
Just went to a seattle suburb best buy and they said I CAN'T pre-order this phone because they don't carry sprint phones in the store?! they said they can only carry 3 of the major carriers so they have verizon, att, and tmobile. i showed the email i got and they said sorry, order it online. i explained that i can't order it online because their website says to get it in the store... wow. I guess ill try radioshack even though I hate that store.
When you go into pre-order can you order it for the full price or do they only do pre-orders if you are signing a new contract?
Went to a Sprint store, and they took my name, address, phone number, and social security number, and they said that will reserve an Evo for me on the day it comes out. They said theywill get a line like they did for the Pre, but can schedule me for any time of day (after the rush dies down) so I can just walk in and choose a plan and walk out. They will call me on the 3rd (the day before it comes out) to schedule a time for me to come in. Sounds good - buying it directly from Sprint is fine with me anyway. Getting a little bit tired of Best Buy, and Radio Shack is so 1980 anyway
Well made my pre order at best buy. $50 and thats it.
Done. Leaving bestbuy as we speak
After reading online about a gift card we're supposed to get i went back and got mine. Would've been nice if the best buy guys mentioned this in the first place. Appointments are to be set on the third when they call people based on when they made the preorder. I'm 8th in line at my store
by the way, the Sprint store didn't require me to put any money down, they just took my information and said they will call me the day before. so, maybe try the sprint store if you don't have the $50 right now. the guy i dealt with was a sales manager or something to that effect and was very friendly and knowledgable, he said he guarantees i will have one reserved. no gift cards though he said they don't even know which contracts are applicable for this phone yet for sure, but he said he's pretty sure it will be "80 bucks" which makes sense based on the 450-minute plan for $69 and the $10 fee for 4G.
The store I called said they are not doing reserves or pre-orders, wtf
preordered mind at bestbuy 50dollars down cant wait to june 4
going to pre order mine later today
I just preordered at One of the BB's in Las Vegas. 50$ commitment thogh they said I could use the 50$ for something else or apply it towards the phone at release. So it's almost like a free preorder. Thogh you can't preorder if you are too broke. I went to BB, a retailer I abhor, because they weren't as dumb as the broad I talked to at radioshack two days ago and becase they always deduct mail in rebates at the time of purchase.
Sent from my iPhone
http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/0...rs-porting-their-numbers-from-other-carriers/
Can someone weigh in on this? I was talking to a friend, wishing that cellphone companies would offer some sort of incentive to switch carriers. I found this just now and was wondering what anyone knew about this credit and/or any incentives for switching carriers. Since I currently have an iPhone something like this would be a boon.
EDIT: Also how does the phone number porting work. If I want to take my AT&T number with me, do I have to contact AT&T first and/or cancel my AT&T plan prior to signing up for the EVO with Sprint. I'd rather minimize downtime.
EDIT: NVM that. Found the info http://www.fcc.gov/cib/consumerfacts/numbport.html That's an easy process.
That would be nice, as I'm coming from T-mobile.
Welp, just got out of a chat with a Sprint CSA on the website. Apparently I'm elligible for the $100 port credit. I'm coming from AT&T.
That'll be nice.
I spoke to a sprint rep and was told the so called port credit was in the form of the $150 you get off the price of the phone. So the evo is 450-150 to get down to the $300 price minus the 100 mir for the final $200 for new customers.

This rep misunderstood or lied to you. The 150$ is for anyone who signs a 2 year contract regardless of whether you come from another carrier, or are already on Sprint.
I called specifically asking about any $100 credit for porting over from T-Mobile. They told me that there WAS an incentive being offered to port over but it expired a few weeks ago. The only "credit" available is this $150 discount.
Anyone have concrete info on this?
I talked to a Sprint rep, and they said I would be elligible for it on June 4th. Either way, who cares. When you get it, throw your number in the site and see what happens!
ive been reading its only for business customers but I am definitely gonna try for it
Heres some help guys. After you port your number(s) you have 72 hours to go here:
http://sprintportcredit.com/
What doesn't make sense is the credit for one number per month. I will call when June 4th comes.
I don't buy it.
that website looks MIGHTY fishy to me!
I think they are fishing for people's cellnumbers and email addresses.

Yeah I perhaps should have specified when I wanted people to weigh in. I thought it was fishy and that's what I wanted people to weigh in on. I'm sure the manager at the mobile section of best buy will know if they have something like that. If not I'll ask a Sprint Rep.
WTF so you're saying sprintportcredit.com is a phishing site? How are you able to tell who that domain is registered to? I called Sprint and even told them the website and the rep stated "Yeah go there after you port your number".
What does the scammer have to gain by going to that website and mistakenly entering your number?
Ive asked several Sprint reps in person at different stores about this and they all say the credit is for business customers only.

It says so right on that site as well.
Well I'll call the Sprint Porting Department and demand that they give me a porting credit. They'll want my business so in the end the customer wins.

Just curious, why do you feel you're entitled to the credit if you dont meet the criteria for it?
Because I'm willing to port 4 numbers from AT&T to Sprint. They need the business and they will give me a credit. I work for AT&T so I know how these things work. I will also be getting a CORP discount from one of my relatives on my account who works for Bank of America. It's a 36% discount. I believe I fit the criteria.

From the sprintportcredit.com eligibility requirements:
Service credit request must be made at https://www.sprintportcredit.com within 72 hours from the port-in activation date for your Service Credit Request. Service credit is available only to eligible corporate-liable accounts. Promo requires 2-year contract agreement outside of hierarchy/special contract terms. Must port in from an active wireless line and remain active on original account number for 61 days in order to receive full service credit. You should continue paying your bill while waiting for your service credit to avoid service disruption and possible credit delay.
Credits apply to all devices that have an associated mobile number and come through the port process. Promotion excludes port ins from providers currently associated with Sprint. Excludes all Individual Liable, Seasonal Standby, and Special Government Rate Plans less than $10 (e.g., U3169, U3169H, U3169D, C1266).
Unless you're activating 4 lines in your business' name, the it would seem that you dont. But good luck to you, it never hurts to try!
EDIT: I'm not trying to be a ****, just pointing out the actual terms for this credit. If you can pull it off, more power to ya.
Didn't someone already point that website out as a phishing site? Someone stated that sprintportcredit.com wasn't an official Sprint site.
yes, but that site is the basis of this thread. Look at the first link the OP posted.
went to local sprint store to check out evo, was told new customers only will get first crack.premier customers can order phone.everyone else 2 to 3 month wait according to supply. store is in kenner la.
Something about this being your first post makes it extremely hard to believe
i went to my sprint store today to make sure everything was good for me to charge it to my account and guess what none of that was mentioned, it's first come first serve. this isn't at&t and this isn't some new iphone, i remember at&t screwed new customers that way over a new iphone.
actually, my sprint store said that new lines had first dibs, then upgrades/buyouts, and then outright purchases. based on a first come first serve bases per category. doesnt make much sense, unless they are going to just organize us like a bunch of kindergardners when we file in the store.
and my local store is only getting 9 phones. had 10 people on their "list", and only 4 were new lines.
Yay I'm a new line
My store is doing nothing of the sort. First come, first serve, simple as that.
My local store told me first-come-first-served. Glad I don't have to wait in line!
I went to Radio Shack two weeks ago to Pre-Order.
On Tuesday, I got confirmation for a 7:00AM appointment.
This evening I called to:
1) confirm they got the shipment. Answer: YEP, they are in the store.
2) confirm my appointment. Answer: Again... Yes "see you here".
I love Radio Shack customer service!

intouch
if you go to a intouch wireless store you can pre-deposit for a phone. i hooked up two for tomorrow and when i left he said they had 14 more. this was the woodinville, wa location.
it seems they are receiving anywhere from 15-25 phones for launch day.
i also got my name on the list at an official sprint store (which I won't be using it turns out) and when i went to visit the manager assured me that as long as i got my name on the list i was gonna get a phone. I was number 32 though and he did state that they were only going to get 30 originally but they had more ordered for everyone on the list so he said no worries. this was the northgate seattle, wa store.

Way to overreact bud. Like I said, Sprint corporate policy is strictly FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. If you don't get it tomorrow, you'll get it Monday or Tuesday.
I believe they make more commission of new lines and since they paid by commission they like to lie and tell customers new lines get first dibs.
So it does not surprise me some Sprint stores would do this.

Lol, actually no. Why a new line over an existing line? Simple: You are guaranteed to make the sale in a new line, because you're 100% sure the line is elig for the upgrade. Some existing lines like to say "But I've been with Sprint FOREVER, they OWE me this phone," and then you find out they aren't elig until NEXT MONTH. Existing lines with Sprint customers are a gamble because they're constantly trying to get something because of their tenure. New line, no fuss, just a sale.

Dude. Go to the BB in metairie by the mall if you want it. I pre ordered mine last friday and I'm getting it next week when the 2nd shipment comes in.
Sprint online ordering is shipping out today. Should have Monday, Tuesday at the latest. I spoke with a rep and she said the online orders are going in front of all the Sprint Telesales, they just process faster.
Sprints off contract price is less anyways.

Well, actually, his answer was extremely accurate. It does indeed make the most sense to limit stock to new customers; it earns the store more money, and the employees more money. That said... I don't agree with it from an ethical standpoint. I prefer the first-come, first-serve approach.
Though you definitely hit the nail on the head at the bolded line above

NEW contract, being the key phrase. Before anyone asks, no they do not do upgrades for Sprint. Amazon has some deal with Sprint where they cannot handle upgrades at this time. At least this is what I have read numerous times.
They still charge the $36 activation fee.
Soo... Do you think "New" contract include converting a single line to a family line and adding Epic's as the add-a-lines?
I don't see how to contact Amazon wireless for doing these kind of family plan changes with adding lines.
Yeah man but if your at the end of your service contract it works to, also alot of us that are getting the epic 4g are switching from carriers like verizon for it, anyway the cheapest it's been is $250 so atleast credit it me with the find man don't knock it, this is useful to some people,

Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. laugh out Loud Kind Sir, The update to said gentlema's post regarding the availability of The Epic 4G through amazon.com transcended naught but an evening before my original post. I Have no petty concerns for being the first at anything with regards to the internet; I only aspired to save coin from my fellow man's purse.
plus one collegiate points for the attempted correction please, minus the 5 i have to award to you for quoting an Epic movie leaves me at negative four =( yes the pun was slightly intended when i said Epic but only to the extent that would allow me to say no pun intended. good day Sir!
Just so everyone knows, right now amazon.com is showing as "Usually ships within 2 - 3 weeks." for me. Not sure why it suddenly jumped such a huge amount, it might be some amazon.com safe estimate thing, but it definitely has me worried that this phone will sell out. However they are offering it for a killer price.
it now says ships in 2-3 weeks!!!!!
im sorry, id much rather get it on launch from sprint for 350, and then get my $100 back 4 weeks later when you are just unboxing your phone
hmm should I go this route? no taxes ( about a $60 dollar savings here in Los Angeles ) plus I get $40 cash back if I use my amazon card. so thats a $150 savings..aside the instant rebate.
edit: its a no brainer. I just placed the order Im saving a good amount for the wait. est ship is September 14, 2010 - September 21, 2010.
So I guess the dates aren't arbitrary or random. Great to know that it's first come, first serve. I ordered mines yesterday morning and ship dates show sept 8-9.
Come the 31-1st if it doesn't ship and if I can happen to get one else where, I'll probably cancel. But deal was too good to pass up, so I had to get my place in line. I too hope it doesn't sell out, but as long as I can cancel before it actually ships, no biggie.
I like to look at it as insurance, if I happen to not be able to get it else where, at the very least I know I got a chance getting it on that date (so I hope).
I had the evo by the way.. returned it, but once it was sold out, it was sold out. So I'm making sure I get my epic before they go as well.

I just did this as a back up as well, but with the cost savings I might just stick with the Amazon order.
Do you know if we have to pay the activation fee when signing up through Amazon?
And if so, are we able to get it waived by using the AAA discount by calling sprint?
Edit: Looks like Amazon does charge the activation fee, bummer. But I have heard of people calling after activation to have work discounts or AAA discounts added and Sprint refunding the activation fee.
