Hi, whenever there comes a new rom there are always things I dislike, so I always make a update.zip with moded files, then the problem shows up. So if I flash the ROM and right after that I flash my update.zip the phone always gets stuck in boot screen, but if I first boot the phone without my update.zip, and then flash my update, everything works, so what am I missing? I also tried to merge ROm and my update via kitchen and again I'm stuck in boot screen. Hope this makes any sense

Okay so last night I was putting on a new theme on my phone(MT3G/32B/T-MO Branded).
After applying the update, rebooted and it started to hang. Tried running one of the nandroid backups that I have saved and it booted backup but all sorts of processes kept force closing, not allowing me to do anything.
Tried a few more nandroid backups, with same results, so I decided to flash the stock firmware back on. So I put the sappimg.nbh file on sdcard and updated it with that.
Now the stock image ALWAYS works with no problem. It lets me flash a new recovery image with Recovery Flasher(Tried Rav 1.2 and CM-1.4). Both recovery images work but when trying to update with a new rooted rom it sits at the first splash screen forever. I've tried a few roms like CM-4.0.4 and 4.1.11.1.
By this time i thought maybe the roms were corrupt so I downloaded a new CM-4.1.11.1 and it took a while but it did boot up, but once i put in my log in info it just froze on the home screen. Rebooted and stuck at the first splash again.
Remember how I said I reverted back to stock firmware? well once I did that and after all this trouble, I tried running a nandroid backup and no matter which one I run, it being and old one or if i just make a new backup they all come out with the same error: "Nandroid failed:run "nandroid-mobile.sh restore" from adb.
Any ideas??? At the moment i'm downloading CM-4.0.4 to try that because i've had problems with 4.1.11.1 and flashing that without having 4.0.4 already flashed. So i will try 4.0.4 right now, hopefully it works and if it does I will update to 4.1.11.1
Thanks guys, first post so don't be too rough...
my experience with that is solvet by booting recovery ROM from say raon and choose wipe data, then reboot

I've wiped so many times i can't even remember. Before and after each thing i said that i did a wipe...so no go on that, but it doesn't matter anymore. i've updated to rooted Donut 1.6 now. Thanks anyways tho
Heres my situation:
I installed the froyo rom without installing the new CWM first. So i tried renaming the new cwm and replacing it with update.zip to no success, and never reverted back to the old one. Now i decided to revert back to stock, install the new CWM, and than flash the froyo rom. But something went wrong.
I flashed odin stock-i500-vzw-system.tar.md5, and upon reboot it sounds the vzw sound, but stays in the samsung bootup screen, and it won't go into recovery because my update.zip is broken.
My odin for some reason fails every time i try to flash the old recovery, or the old kernels, it only wants to flash system.tar.
Thats as detailed as i can get it for now, any help would be great.
look around for some different stock odin files. i had a hard time with flashing cwm files as my phone just wouldnt accept them for some reason.
i'm gonna try adrenalyn's system.tar, kernel and CWM DI01 package, see if this works. keep fingers crossed
my phone wont boot.infinite boot loop and when trying to get in recovery phone shut down.
i had installed official 2.3.5 beta v2.
and then i tried this but phone wont boot or even go to recovery. i can come to pink screen but i cannot install unofficial rom(custom rom)
please help me.
Install an official rom first, then recovery and then a custom rom.
B162 worked well for me after 2.3.5.
input file update rom stock 2.2.2 copy in SDcard, and then in screeen pink. wait and finish.then reboot and up rom cook.
I've never had problems like this and I've been flashing custom roms and recovery since HTC G1 days. Maybe you chaps can enlighten me a bit.
I can boot into all partitions of my device just fine, regular system, recovery, bootloader all okay. My daily rom (Vanir), however, has been getting a little bogged down lately so I'm trying to do an update.
I transferred my rom and gapps files to the sdcard and boot into twrp 2.6.3.1 to update, but lo and behold, the files are now missing. All my other files are there, just not the rom or the gapps. Not too worried yet, I'll just use the sideload method instead.
Start up sideload and watch it transfer over the new rom (MIUI at this point, and I factory reset before hand). From the cmd line I can see it going over just fine and the device seems to be accepting it as well. It gets to 100% and starts a quick error free install on the device, but when I reboot, nothing has been changed and I'm back in Vanir. Okay...I'll update the recovery and see if a new one works.
So I boot into the fastboot to update the recovery.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.0-grouper.img
Looks good, no error messages, cmd line shows it has been written, so I reboot into my new recovery, only its not new, its still twrp 2.6.3.1 and everything still doesn't work.
Long story long, I also tried installing CWM instead of TWRP -- didn't work, using adb push to move the files and that didn't work, and every time I seem to just lose the zip files after a reboot or update attempt. In fact, when I boot back into Vanir, all my regular files are there, but even though I haven't removed them none of the rom or gapps zips are anywhere. I am sure they have successfully transferred multiple times, but they never seem to make it through a boot sequence.
At this point I'm stuck, and wondering about my boot partitions being messed up. Any help you can provide is much appreciated.
Update, with new information.
I tried to do a complete wipe a la the guide that's stickied in this forum, and it's led me to a bit of new information. It seems that my bootloader is repeatedly failing to update from version 3.23 every time giving either the "InvalidState" error, or when I use older bootloaders that are supposed to work like the JWR66V bootloader mention in this post, it doesn't say "InvalidState" but still fails just the same with a blank where it would say "InvalidState".
I've also realized that none of my changes to my tablet are persisting through a boot sequence. If I download a new app, it is gone upon restarting. In fact, every time I power it up, it downloads the same 3 app updates to the device. Perhaps that can help narrow the problem down a little bit? Sounds like a data wipe is happening every time, but only for changes since I began to try to update the tablet a few days ago, all my files from before the update attempt are never removed or altered at all.
Lastly, according to Rom Manager, I have both TWRP and ClockworkMod as recovery. Actually, that makes me think it might be a boot.img issue. If anyone has any ideas at all, I am open to try any of them at this point. Thanks for reading and for your suggestions in advance!
Seems that when I flash a rom to my phone, it gets stuck at the Samsung screen.
The only way around this I have found is to go to TWRP, flash the rom, format data partition, flash rom and gapps again, then it boots.
Is there anyway to prevent this from happening? Is something out of wack that I can permanently put into wack?
