Who is with me?
With all the gripes that we have with this phone right now, including no 2.1 for a 8 months (by which time SE will launch a newer Android device and pay no attention to X10 owners) as well as multitouch, live wallpapers, hundreds of apps that dont run on anything less than 2.1 etc etc, I think its high time we hit SE where it hurts.
Bring on AMOLED, 512 MB RAM, native flash and 2.2 around the corner.
Who needs a 8MP camera. Seriously, all cameras on mobile phones are **** anyways.
The screen size is a tad smaller, but so is the phone (which is better in my books).
Any other reasons anyone can think of apart from the obvious?
Just about to flog it on fleebay/gumtree
You sound horribly insecure. Its just a phone. Relax for god sake.
thats because i probably am... or perhaps just enlightened...
more fits of insecurity coming your way

Exactly its phone nothing more. Jheeze what a pointless thread.
I sincerly hope you are satisfied once you switch.
The X10 is as advertised and I am happy with it as is.
Im sure you are all very happy with the device at hand and this is probably not the best forum for this topic, although I know of a lot of users here who feel the same way about the X10 and would be willing to move away.
If not now, than a couple of months down the line, you will all be singing the same tune when most of the apps stop offering upgrades on the 1.6 platform.
Everyone's opinion is welcome and a forum (any) is the perfect place to express it.
I respect your opinion and your reasoning as it does have merit.
For me, this is my first run on Android.
I like the SE UI and the apps are secondary to me.
i'm with you. but i'm going for the nexus one. receiving that piece of sexy tomorrow.
I will wait another month or so, to see if we get it rooted. If not, ill be getting a 4G when available in the UK
boring htc phones
To be very honest i think Desire and Nexus are both boring not so well designed phones. They´re geek phones with no aesthetics. X10 it´s way more sleek, elegant and big! Froyo will come as well to the X10... just patience my friends. Who know we get the phone rooted pretty soon...
Don't let the door hit you on the way out!
seriously im getting tired of these "omg ive had it with this x10 gotta sell it" go ahead , no one really cares. coming from 2.1, i still dont care if the x10 is still 1.6, its fast, sexy and its just a phone! im all for root, and itll come. for now though people who dont sit at home all day in mommys basement are enjoying the x10.
i certainly hope puberty doesnt confuse you as much as your x10 dilemma.

anyone who is happy with the way the x10 is right now is seriously either super retard OR cant/doesnt have the money/whatever reason to switch to another phone. "ofcourse i am talking software wise " not the phone it self in general as i used to have X10 and i love the design of the phone more than my new nexus 1
anyway OP. i did the same yesterday, i bought the Nexus 1 tho. mainly because i never like the HTC interface and i figure that phones like nexus and motorolla droid are always faster to get updates " since i wont wait for htc to implement their software into the phone before updating.
the guy at the store promised me not to sell my x10 for a week " he is a friend " if SE annouce 2.2 by then or the phone get rooted " haha wtf i am thinking " then great i will get it back. if not, then the hell with SE. let them shove the phone up their @$$. or some unlucky mfer buy it
let us know if it hurts when yours drop too...wait there should be a thread for prepubescent b00ns...

Seriously just keep the x10 for now. Root will come sooner or later. You knew the x10 would come with 1. 6 then why did you buy it in the first place? If I have the patience to wait for 2. 1 or root then so does everyone else, unless you don't have a life and loaft around xda starting useless threads saying ur gonna sell your x10 for another phone. If so go ahead no one is stopping you. We don't need to know anything else. As far as I know this is the xperia x10 thread.

i'm going to be keeping the x10 for a while even after my nexus one gets here today.
i have faith in x10. but the phone seriously is limited by the OS. the nexus one's looks are a matter of opinion and mostly on taste. i love the way it looks but all the good features are on newer OS.
we all knew Android would be updated. but i don't think people expected the phone to have such a long wait for an update with an outdated OS. you get an android phone these days for the reason that the OS will only get better with updates. everyone sees the petition thread, right?
if OS didn't mean a thing and that it didn't have any issues for the X10, no one would be complaining.
Moving to another phone in the future?
Maybe.
HTC? No way ..
What else?
A new iteration of Nexus, maybe a better Galaxy S (one with flash for camera) or a Motorola Motoroi if they decide to sell it in US/Canada.
But really... HTC?
I'm sorry to say but you are crazy
Giving your X10 for HTC Desire/Legend or Nexus One is pointless.
None of them is as good as X10.

pointless ? ..... what planet are you from ?
I agree with miguelsantos1979.
1st Gen AMLOED screens are not overly impressive, my friend has the Desire and he struggles to see the screen in direct sun light.
If you want to change the handset, change it rather then write a post like a spoilt child
Well, assuming that people don't have the cash to switch to another phone when they are having a X10 is the most useless comment I read here since I became a member, it's not about having cash my friend, it's about what you expect from something you bought and if the product suits you or not.
Fortunately everyone is different, I like my X10 eventhough on my X1 I was able to make my own themes and tweaked whatever I wanted. Ashame some games can't be installed because of the fact it is still running on 1.6, but that's not worth getting another phone for me personally. I will wait for the updates, and as soon as SE comes with the update, there will be something new to complain about. That is how it works in this fastgrowing technology world we live in.
Another point can be not everyone goes so deep in their phones as we do, and for "normal" people the X10 is fantastic as it is. SE want to sell big with this phone, so making it to complicated scares of the average customer who just buys a phone based on the looks of it, and you have to admit, the first time you had the X10 in your hand, it was looking good
Just relax and take a beer after you bought yourself another phone
Cheers,
Arnold
you had to go!!!! After having this phone for 2 weeks, it just didn't quite cut it even though on paper it was remarkable. It had a dual core processor, higher resolution, webtop capabilities on and on...
In the end I guess my old eyes couldn't handle the smaller icons due to higher resolution, I had issues with my MP3 player playing only 3/4 of song then stopping and then i wasn't liking the dual core heating up like a toaster oven. THe icons were dull colors too....Motorola likes these dull browns for icons where as HTC likes to use color and make it vivid.
I also like to play around with my phone too much so LOCKED BOOTLOADER was not cool. Did you hear me Motorola, LOCKED BOOTLOADER for a lot of people dont like that.....
So in the end I got the Inspire 4G with Sense. You really cant go wrong with HTC, although I understand the postive and negatives to each phone, mine just happen to fit more in line with HTC.
So for you hopefuls that Motorola will unlock it, wish you the best of luck or that they will do many updates, wish you the best of luck!!!
Not trying to start a huge debate, but if you are on the fence about these two phones, just spend 10 mins. with the Inspire and most people will probably like it over the Motorola.
its funny i had the inspire for 2 weeks....got rid of it a few days ago
got the Atrix...and THANK GOD I DID
4.3 inches at the **** resolution its at was a disaster, hurt my hands. Too heavy
not very fast, barely played videos (htc codecs suck)
Like you said, it comes down to opinion
but switching from inspire 4g to atrix was the best thing I ever did
PS: The battery on that thing gave me EPIC NIGHTMARES.
Can someone just make a "im returning _______" thread/topic/section?

You actually can go wrong with HTC, its when they put a 1200 mah battery in a 1.8 ghz capable phone then you get to watch your battery lose a percent every 4 minutes of use. I had one it was totally BS battery life and was totally unacceptable. Then people say "just don't OC it" so then you have a 4.3 inch captivate with less ui lag, no usable internal memory storage, and GPS that works.

Did u try launcher pro plus first motoblur is **** ill give you that but the phone is fast good battery life screen is nice... I'm loving it
i can't wait until i leave my epic 4g from sprint and come to the atrix community
i am tired of htc, samsung and sprints games so it times to give motorola and att a chance

I love HTC phones. But they have to be Android. I have the evo 4G and I couldn't be happier. It's fast, vibrant, has all the bells and whistles. I literally have a mini computer at the palm of my hands.
I've had it for about 3 weeks now and yeah the battery goes quick but thats because I can't put it down! I had the Hero before switching to evo and I love everything about this phone.
I didn't understand why it was called the supersonic until I used it. Is rather have my HTC evo over any other phone on the market. Puts the iPhone to shame with its 8.0mp camera, and its secondary front-mounted camera makes video chatting a synch, the kickstand is awesome for watching YouTube or movies and also playing games. Oh and I almost forgot it has an HDMI out. Used it and the picture on my tv is remarkable.
Keep up the good work HTC and Google....I love you
Oh and one other thing it has a 4G mobile hotspot that can provide WiFi for up to 8 devices at once. If thats not remarkable I don't know what is

i like the Evo and a lot of people i kno and see around campus have either the evo or iphone 4, very few galaxy S phone, but honestly i think the Atrix is better then all of them, even the Galaxy S II won't compare judging from the specs that were given(but i can't prove it until the phone comes out so it's just an opinion)
I've never been a fan of Motorola. I have had very bad experiences with mot. Phones. I have had nothing but good experiences with HTC w/google. I also used to have the blackberry curve 8310 and thought it was the best thing since buttered toast. But that quickly changed when I switched to sprint.
Sprint has better service than ATT & Verizon combined IMO. But thats just how I feel. They have given me good prices and great devices with no hassle and I'm not the type to ruin a good thing. Bottom line is "to each his own" but I will recommend HTC with Android until either HTC starts slacking or Google bites the dust (which they wont).
I'm sure you all have valid points about your phone's but I'm pro HTC and definitly pro Google.

I've had many htc phones and have always had a good experience. I had a hard time waiting for the atrix when I saw the inspire for $100. At that price point it is a steal for the features you get. In the end i'm glad I waited though. The Atrix is rediculously good!!! Super fast and great battery life (I get about 16 hours a charge... 16!!!) It is hands down the best phone i've ever used. Head shoulders and more above the rest, a GIANT among a sea of average phones.

I was impressed by the Inspire back when it came out on Sprint as the Evo... what, eight months ago? I made the mistake of buying old hardware that just came out once, the Hero. Never again.
Coming from the Captivate, the only things I miss are how vibrant the games looked on SAMOLED and flashing the new hot stuff roms.
Do not miss accidently bricking the thing and having to use a USB jig to fix it though...
I am from a another continent; a faraway country - Singapore to be exact. Smartphones is one of my hobbies. I have had several HTC phones - Windows Mobile, and now the Desire on Android which is about 9 months old, and high time for a replacement. I have been reading and eyeing the Atrix since Jan 2011 - all excited about it's superior tech specs, and particularly its innovative HDMI/TV docking unit. I have been preparing myself to be an early adopter and to purchase a unit from EBay at a premium price. I have been so impressed with what I read that I even invested in some MMI stocks. But, all these excitement, hype and high expectations of owning a Atrix (will be my first Moto) came to a complete stop last weekend - when I learnt that a famed developer (he did the unroot for the Atrix) abandoned his work because of the locked bootloader! Motorola may have their own reasons to do this, but it is unacceptable to me. So, unless I see a Moto announcement to unlock the bootloader, I am off looking for another dual core smartphone - either the LG 2X or wait for HTC to release one. Obviously I will also sell off my MMI stocks - even if I have to incur a loss, given its recent rapid decline. Sorry folks, if I have been somewhat off-topic. Just wanted to voice my opinion.

Got a Blackberry Bold finally...and decided to try it for a while and loving it!...
its painful for browsing and other cool fun purposes but for a communication device...it is highly efficient
for Messaging, Emails, Phone, Simple Applications, typing and Battery life...it is far superior
i am able to hear the other party very clearly, searching and dialing a contact is extremely fast with OS 6.0 ....and it lasts 2 days with no charge with heavy usage too.
loving the Blackberry Messenger...all friends are on it.
I still have the xperia X10i lying with me at home...i use it to play games or browse internet when using toilet....but as a phone..it is a headache & highly unreliable due to poor battery life and low call volume and slow dialing interface.
battery life is most important for me......and even with 1Ghz processor..Xperia x10i still feels more sluggish than a Blackberry.
So goodbye to android platform for a while
it was a happy journey from Android 1.6 to Android 2.1 with dual-touch!
grosss.....

Constant freezing, clocking and battery pulls... Have fun with that.. lol
Not to mention the screen resolution, ram, and processor speed is about 5 years outdated

Lol... constant freezing with blackberry? never heard of it. it wont make sense for a phone with most highest sales in history of America to have a sluggish interface. i guess u just dint knew how to run it well.
and there was no point of telling people that u changed to blackberry. and android is basically for people who needs max customization and features.
and seems like you just need stable phone with minimal features and high battery life , so i suppose blackberry and apple are good for you.
and i have to blame that slow sluggish-ness of x10 on its platform it came out with. 1.6 .. it was utterly pathetic slow . It has no comparison to 2.2 and 2.3 .
try to get hands on any android with 2.3 . you will love it .
customization + speed= awesomeness. no wonder android has top share mobile world market now. followed by blackberry.

Strange everyone I know had the same issues...
A major one was the screen would turn white for no reason and the only way to fix it was to pull the battery. They take FOREVER to boot up too.
It is getting around in north america about the poor quality, hence why it is losing ground so fast.
I think you took a step backwards

and overall i had fun with x10i
i just dont find x10i very reliable as my primary phone
i was once stuck outside my house without a key for 15 mins because it wouldnt let me make calls to my brother....had to restart it 3 times.
i was once stuck on the streets at 7 am in the morning on new years eve because X10i's battery died and i couldnt call a cab.
as a phone or a communication device..x10i fails.
as a multimedia device for gaming, browsing and Apps..its great....its fun.
i ll get a 3g sim card for x10i to use it for browsing ...
or maybe wait for newer android phones.
there are SOOO many new android phones out there now.

RIM wont go out of business so easily....its great for people who want a more reliable device.
in business reliability sells....not customizability.

I just wonder, why people come to this forum and write something like "Hahaha, i just gote something, goodbye X10 users"? I congratulate you, i understand, that some people don't like this phone, but why needed to tell us this? Do you really think, that after this topic everybody will run to buy other phone? Well my x10 hadn't given me any if the issues you talk about either...
Comparing the two on battery life is just retarded. That's like comparing a porsche to a toyota tercel and wondering why it takes more gas...
Look at the screen, the processor, the display, the complexity of the os...
nevertheless, I get a day our of mine easy, and put it on the charger when I go to bed. Why anyone needs more than a day is beyond me, you won't be using the phone while you're sleeping anyway.

Blackberries have traditionally had issues with looking modern and acting modern. They perform quite well in a corporate environment, and that's where they should be relegated to, IMO. Everything else apart from email and BB messaging on the BB sucks goat balls.
I've seen dozens of people vying for a BB device secretly, and not so secretly. I was part of the admin group responsible for rolling out BB's across upper management in our firm in about 2005. We actually bought our own copy of BBES and added additional encryption methods. I've seen people drop their perfectly fine (at that time) Nokias etc. for buying BB's of their own to get the device configured for corporate email, just so they could flaunt it like some magical device.
I never really understood the appeal of those devices with their retro bulky designs and their weird aspect ratio screens. In black and white. BB has added color ever since and some of their designs are better than before. But....
I still don't understand the appeal.
Damn.

I actually owned a Blackberry prior to getting the X10.
What ultimately prompt me to get a new phone through an early HUP was because of several issues including the random reboots with the white screen of death and bluetooth not working with one unit right when i received it. I did 3 warranty replacements until i had enough and just outright asked for an early HUP from Rogers. Most people i know suffered from the white screen of death and constant reboots with a range of Blackberries.
However it was a good messaging device and i'll give you that. It's best suited in the corporate world which most of us noted.

I never really understood the appeal of those devices with their retro bulky designs and their weird aspect ratio screens. In black and white. BB has added color ever since and some of their designs are better than before. But....
I still don't understand the appeal.
Damn.

the phone u carry projects your personality
If you carry android..you come across as Geekish.
if you carry blackberry...u come across as rich....because all CEO's carry Blackberry...not androids.
and if you carry iphone....u come across as stylish/trendy but little gayish (lol no offense)
so I had an incdredible, got an iphone 4 (huge mistake), then got the thunderbolt. well im now back on the incredible and i gotta say that the inc is the fastest smoothest phone ive had so far. the thunderbolt felt laggy alot, even after i rooted it, no matter what rom i was on. i dont live in an area where 4g exists so that didnt matter. i also didnt like how big it was. im not even sure the inc 2 is as good as the inc 1. they decreased internal memory and increased the size of the screen... just seems a little weird that this phone seems to be better than the newer technology..
Agree with you!
I have been in Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular in the past few days checking all the phones out, and I can't find anything that is as quick and works as well as the Incredible. I would love to upgrade, but to me there is nothing to UPgrade to. The original Incredible is just an awesome phone.
That's weird. I'd think the added 256mb of RAM would make it faster.
I wonder if it's a matter of the Incredible having been out far longer and devs having more time to figure out how to optimize things for it?

Im glad tho cuz for once I get to use, no wait ENJOY a phone for the full 2yrs of my contract without trying to scheme up a way to upgrade early.

it has better tech because it's older, and more time was put into it. the thunderbolt has crappy tech, sense 2.1. a good example, i was in the store the other day looking for a belt holster, i did find it, but, was comparing specs on the droid charge to the droid x, the droid x has a faster proc, i asked why the charge costed more since it has lower tech then the x. the rep said "well, this is newer, has dual core (WRONG) has a bigger screen (yeah, because i really need a 4.3 inch screen when 3.7 is serving me fine, ffs i use a 20" HDTV i got for 90 bucks on clearence, no it's not "1080p led, 120hz" crap, but it works.
Shoot Kiboe find me a HDTV deal like that! My husband would love you. LOL!
Yeah I got the Incredible the first day it was out. This phone works pretty good with the Synergy rom.

I have been looking around for a phone to tempt me away from the Incredible and nothing has even come close. What I find funny is the Verizon stores I've gone to are now locking the phones so you can't get into the settings and see what its specs are. This is truly the first phone that has lived up to its name.
C4H1LL why did you get rid of the iphone 4 out of curiosity? I'm track to buy the new one for verizon when it comes out.
I agree the Incredible is Incredible!!! I will cry when it brakes, running MIUI.US with Incredikernel. The Incredible 2 and the Thunderbolt are basically the same except Incredible2 is global and no LTE. All three have 1gig single core cpu's, but the overclock potential for the 2 and thunder would kill the original. I want a unlocked bootloader dual core HTC.

Iphone 4 has been out on Verizon since February. The Iphone 5 is rumored for September release. Before you buy something you will regret, take the incredible(1or2) and load MIUI.US can make it look like a Iphone.

MIUI is a GREAT ROM, even if you're NOT trying to make your phone look like an Iphone. (I'm definitely not.)
Still have my dinc.. still an awesome phone. But my inspire has me hooked. Plus att coverage is way better in my area. ( sticks) . At this point in the game its really a battle of specs. To me its all becoming overkill if you think bout it.. while having the latest and greatest is nice. Staying one generation behind is always better. Why? Because of optimization..lol bugs worked out.

ha yea. For these android phones that is true, plus you get a huge discount is price.
You couldn't pay me to leave my Tbolt to go back to my dInc. Or the dInc2. A number of the early custom ROMs where pretty sorry, despite the best efforts of many devs. That mainly has to do with some pretty sorry base leaks from the Big Red Checkmark. I'm currently running a 3D ROM (not exactly easy on graphics) and it lags NONE at all. Furthermore, having 25 to 45 Mbps in your pocket is not something you ever want to give up.
Concerning the dInc2, that's a far better device than the original. The LCD is FAR brighter than the AMOLED, the CPU is more muscular, it's got more memory, it's got a screen large enough to reasonably display a keyboard, a decent front-facing camera, it's even more pleasant to the hand to hold, and it's actually difficult to kill the battery inside a day. If 4G wasn't a factor, I'd have a dInc2. 4G being a factor, the Tbolt is an industrial-strength device capable of summoning speeds as high as 45Mbps, leaving you effectively waiting for nothing. Really.... it downloads songs faster than you can open the music player and play them. Tethered or on the device, streaming HD quality video is NOT a big deal. I've downloaded 310MB ROMs in under 3 minutes.
not everyone is in a 4g market!!!!!!
if you have the money, go with the t-bolt, if not, just stick with the dinc until you do.
Lol had my Inc since early February. I'm happy with it and the specs aren't too low. I do have a bone to pick with HTC on their cruddy bluetooth system. It is pretty much my dependent internet connection when I'm at home. I can't get wireless out here and the closest thing we can get is dial up (not going back). I'm getting closer to go back to CM7 and get better bluetooth, but the camera sucks on it and I won't be able to use the tv out cable. While I have my issues with it, I'm happy I got it. I got it on sale for 50 bucks at Hhgregg, which in my opinion is a bargain. I don't think 4G will take off...at least not drastically for quite a while as its still being developed in many parts of the US. Maybe by the time my contract is up, I'll upgrade to a different Droid or a different non-HTC sense and Galaxy S device. Maybe get something with HDMI as well as more phones are coming with that lol. Plus with the unlimited data I'm grandfathered in and 4G data in the future, I will no longer have to go out for wifi But I'll be with my Incredible Droid until the contract is up. I might hold onto it and see if there's other purposes for it. I say if you can find this phone dirt cheap like Amazon had for .01 cent with a contract, not really into 4G yet, and could care less about a front facing camera then this phone is for you.
There are tech sites (tested.com) for example who talk about how this device is outdated and stuff.
It really isn't... it is a great phone and hasn't failed me yet. I just added on a bulky battery to mine though so it lasts over a day if I can't find a plug. The only con I had before was battery life.
I am probably going to end up dropping it one day and breaking it beyond repair and that is gonna force me to upgrade, because for what I use it for I don't see myself needing anything else yet.
I already replaced the digitizer twice lol... last time was just because it had a lot of scratches though

Are you rooted? There's probably a bunch of things you can do to help your battery life out, I'm on a 1900mAh battery that still fits in the stock case and I get over a day's use. I use a BUNCH of GPS and data too (according to VZW I used 20GB last month)
But yea the INC is growing a little old but there's nothing I have to complain about it, and no phone is a good enough upgrade for me to go for it.
One day though.. we will part our ways. Just got a new case for mine so I'm in love with it all over again..now spending hours on these forums. oh god. I need to go to sleep.
Like most people struggling to find their place between HTC One and Samsung S4, with a months of my contract left I am unsure which flagship phone to choose. I don't want this thread to be another debate about the two phone or companies, instead I prefer to know what people think about the future of the One. As a loyal HTC user, I started with HTC Desire and now still using HTC Sensation. For both phones it is a shame to see HTC not supporting their devices a few months after they released the phone.
I would agree with most people about the HTC phone quality, in fact that I have been telling others the same thing. There are a lot of things I like about Samsung S4, but there is nothing I can't live without. For me there are only 2 main problem with the One which I can't stand:
1. Removable battery
Battery life was never a problem for me before my Sensation. However after being with Sensation for 1 year and 8 month, my battery was failing apart, until one day I couldn't stand it any more and purchased a new battery. Then it was like having a new phone, this is something which can't be done with the One. I see why uni-body maybe attractive, but to me it is just another way of getting the customer to buy a new phone every 2 years. Because no matter how good the battery is, it WILL need replacing after 2 years of constant use. I could say fair enough to no expandable storage, but can't swap battery is really annoying for me. Since so many people are buying the One, I really want to know what you guys think. Is this not an issue for you? What would you do in a year time when your phone constant needs charging?
2. Official Updates
For both of my past HTC phones, I got to know what HTC is like as a company when it comes to updates. I feel I have more say about HTC sensation since I purchased it as soon as it was out and a few months later there were almost no support. For a phone with 1.2 Ghz (Can also be clocked at 1.5 Ghz) due-core CPU and 750mb RAM, it is more than capable of running windows XP Operating System, so I don't take the specification is not good enough for later version of Android as an excuse. I understand a company can only support a produce for so long, but 2 years is not a lot to ask especially when we have to pay a lot for the device. Do you guys think HTC will act differently on this phone? Because they have always been so slow at releasing updates I have now lost faith in them. I hope someone could convince me to buy the One. I really do love the phone.
Sorry about the rant, it is just that I love the design of the One. But the removable battery problem and lack of support from HTC is preventing me from making my mind up to choose the One over S4.
Thanks for reading through this long winded moaning and any advice is appreciated.

Don't buy it, you don't want it.
I also didn't know which one to get from the two but I realized I didn't want the S4 because who really needs the air gestures and stuff. I've been using the S2 for Sprint for the past two years and I'm tired of TouchWiz. And since I'm currently running somewhat of a S3 ROM, I'm gonna be bored of the S4 because it is essentially the same thing but with added features which to me are useless. I want to go back to HTC because of their build quality and I like their phones overall (had the Aria on ATT). The One is just an overall better phone for me because the screen isn't 5 inches big and doesn't weight as much as a feather. As for the removable battery, that was also one thing that initially steered me away from the One but if the iPhone can last, why can't the One? There is probably a safe mode for when it freezes so no problem there. And HTC will probably give most of its attention to its One because its their flagship device. Nothing better is coming out this year and it will still be a high end phone next year

For the battery issue I'd the phones battery degrades after 1 year and a bit. Contract HTC or your contract supplier and let them know. I'm sure HTC would replace it. For the updates the one x has been constantly getting updates and I think they will go back to the sensation hopefully but I think HTC are trying to turn things round with the HTC one. Try them both in a store then make up your own mind.

no time for you dude , no time!
by the way i dint even read your post
1. how is removable battery a problem?? How many iphone owners have had problems with the enclosed battery and then all the other phones out there that have enclosed batteries.
It is actually better in some ways to have an enclosed battery because moisture and dust etc. can't get in as easily, you can't keep removing the battery thus you don't wear out the connectors
Also, the htc one uses a li-poly battery and therefore it shouldn't age over time like the li-lion batteries.
HTC have disabled the quick charge feature in attempt to stop the battery from wearing out after a certain time.
You want more juice/life, buy a power pack, charger that doesn't need a USB/wall socket
You encounter a problem in a year or so time, return the device in exchange for a new one or send it of to HTC for repair (don't know about where you live, but in the UK they are a heck of a lot better these days, very quick turn around time i.e. a few days)
2. updates, look at all the updates that the one X and S got and both will be getting 4.2.2 with sense V5 around June/July.
Samsung have more small updates as they have more problems with their software i.e. security problems
Many articles etc. that have shown HTC to be better in this area i.e.

I do agree, it is a joke that the sensation didn't get the update but I imagine that the device wasn't very popular and HTC didn't see much point putting time/money into it as nearly every man and his dog went for the GS 2....
But HTC did provide the ICS update to the sensation before the GS 2, they also provided the GB update to the desire before the GS 1 (although not officially)
HTC so far seem to be keeping to their promise regarding not releasing loads of other devices ad if they keep to it then they only have the 1 device to maintain.....
Also you have you have to bare in mind that they moved much closer to stock android now, sense is mostly bloat free where as Samsung have moved further from the stock android UI and brought a load of bloat and extra features in (not to mention they will have two versions [exynos and snapdragon] to maintain) thus this time round they could be slower by a decent amount.

Well, iPhone user's don't think removable battery a problem, but at the same time I am not an iPhone user. From what I have seen with iPod touch in the past, the battery gets pretty nakerd.
I have read about li-poly battery, to me there doesn't seem to be a clear advantage. In fact it was said li-lion battery could be recharged more times. Doesn't seem like a lot of help, most reviews expressed a day of usage (I would consider my self as a someone who are on their phone all the time). Also quick charge, if i understood correct means does not allow the phone to charge until the battery drops to 95%, which existed on my HTC Sensation but only limited to 99%. I don't know how much this will help, but it is good to see they are doing something about it. I personally don't like accessories, so power pack would be the last option if there is none better.
I'm in the UK as well, but never contacted HTC because I never had a problem (credit to HTC for that). It is still nice to know they fix battery issues.
Anyhow, you were very helpful. I think I am more convinced now. Before I go, just want to remind everyone HTC One is much cheaper sim free (at least in the UK anyway).
PS: We all know Desire did not get proper GB support, was a gimmicky release just to shut people up
Nobody can make you buy it. . . your post meantions Samsung a few times... u stated you like it. Fanboy? Trolling? Really mate? Half the things you want a samsung has, HTC doesnt, i LOVE The htc personally! And wouldnt go for a samsung because i got bored with touchwiz. But you decide.
Read reviews, go in store and play with phones! Ure asking on a HTC One Forum, most people will say get it! Mainly because 90% of us have one. . . but come one. . . your decision, your mind.
MODS: is there any need for this post? Maybe be closed?
I was in the same boat as you. Decided to go with One and couldn't be happier. Camera is spectacular, the phone feels and works great.
Need more convincing? If you don't buy the One, one kitten will die
