PS3 Remote Play or Location Free Player? - XPERIA X2 General

Does anyone know if there is an application for the PS3 remote play option as well as the Sonly Location Free player?
The PS3 Remote Play application allows you to view your content on the Playstation 3 anywhere in the world that has WIFI with an internet connection.
The Sony Location Free Player is a stand alone device that allows you to see you cable/satellite content anywhere in the world that has WIFI with an Internet connection. You basically connect the output from your cable/satellite provider to this device and use a program on your laptop or desktop to view the programming. Sony PSP's have a program built into their system which allows this to work. The original packaging for the location free player came with a disk that had 1 licensed copy for a desktop or laptop computer.
Was wondering if any of these applications might be available for the Xperia X2.

Local Media Sharing/Streaming

Is there anyway to stream local media (video/music/images) from your home pc to the HD2 when both of them are connected on the same network?
My N82 and N97 did that flawlessly, (by media server), was wondering if I can do something similar via Tversity installed on my pc.
Thanks.
I'm not aware of a DLNA client for windows mobile, but TVersity comes with a web interface. Why not just use that?
Or, you can use pocket player with the uPNP plugin to stream audio, I am not sure how well video streaming works though as I never could get it to work satisfactoryly.
download tversity for your pc and get tcpmp player for your phone. I have to look into starting a post about this if there isn't one
I am also interested in this feature. I don't understand why Windows mobile doesn't have some sort of media sharing or media extender feature natively. I would like to be able to connect to my wireless network, turn on file sharing, and play a media file on my TV via my Xbox. I know that the HD2 does not have a video output method (such as the Nokia's, Incredible, Evo, etc), so I would hope to at least be able to make up for it wirelessly.
I was doing this exactly last year with my HD1, using the Network Plugin + CorePlayer/TCMCP so it is possible.
Just browse your network on your HD, find the file, and click Play.
For people who also have a Home Theartre set-up powered by a PC, check out GRemote as a great program to browse files on your HD2 and then launch them/control playback on your TV.

AllShare....

How do I use this thing? I Googled it but couldn't find much info. How do I add a server? Is it all done over WiFi?
How to use All Share
All Share allows you to stream pictures, video and music to and from your device over your local wifi network. It should work with DLNA certified devices. It works using uPnP. Basically, you can use it some TVs, home media servers and gaming consoles such as PS3. That said, I don't own anything like that. There is free software the will allow you to access and play files to and from your computer with ease.
I suggest XBMC.
Once XBMC is installed go to:
Configure Sysytem -> Settings -> Network
Check the following boxes:
1) Share video and music libraries through UPnP
2) Allow control of XBMC via UPnP
Now fire up All Share on your device select play file from your phone to device. In addition to your local computer you should see XBMC, select it and enjoy the stream. I've been very impressed with the video quality. I'm sure there are other application that will allow you to stream to your PC but so far this was the simplest solution I've found.
Oh and prepare to be disappointed, Avatar was not an option, aside from the trailer. If your looking to convert your own movies for mobile use I'd suggest you start with Handbrake. It's very easy to use.

This is badass. Worked like a charm... Thanks! And can this be done over the internet? Like how would I stream it to an IP/Port?
Has anyone tried WDTV Live? All share does not see WDTV Live as media rendered?
I want to push video from phone to WDTV or vise versa?

It's intended to work over wifi only, however, this might be possible through ORB. It does recognize the device in All Share but frankly haven't tooled around with it much. I'll let you know what I find out.

I have been able to stream to my wdtv live with no issues. I don't have custom firmware, just the latest stock firmware.
However, my phone will not see wdtv as a server or nas? Which sucks cause that's where all the media is.
Playon, tversity, ps3media server and Xbmc all streamed media from a hard drive or my pc perfectly.
Playon was not able to stream, online media I.e. Hulu, adult swim.
I've been able to stream videos to my phone using AllShare from two of my Windows 7 machines, no additional software needed. I have a Homegroup setup and just have the the folders containing the videos shared with the Homegroup.

Windows 7 supports DLNA, which is what AllShare uses for media streaming. I'm able to share videos, music, and pictures over Wifi on my home network. I like to stream videos from my PCs to my phone for viewing either on my phone, or on my TV through the video out capability of the Vibrant's 3.5mm headphone jack.
Take a look at this link to enable your media sharing on Windows 7:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/e7/archive/2009/05/12/media-streaming-with-windows-7.aspx
I did have to reboot my PC after changing my Windows settings to see the shared folders show up in AllShare. I'm not sure if this step is required, just my experience.
If you have any other specific questions, please let me know.
Edit:
If you don't have Windows 7, you can install the Samsung server software (PC Share Manager) on Windows XP or Vista, available here :

Thanks for the tips, certainly a better solution than a third party players.

how to use allshare between vibrant and ps3?
hi guys... i've been reading all the threads on allshare but could not find an answer for the ps3 sharing. my ps3 recognized the vibrant right away but there was no content in video, audio or pictures. (yes i did choose files on the phone and added to playlist)..
any suggestions please? thanks...
** sorry for posting too soon... problem solved...
Holy shiznit....This is bad ass...I can now stream all of my TV shows from my PC to my phone while I am laying in bed. Now I can watch episodes of Burn Notice while my wife hogs up the TV.
I just tried it and it works like a charm.
Those of you who aren't sure how to do it I will explain:
-Using Windows 7, download the latest Windows Media Player
-Add your videos to a playlist
-Open up Allshare and select the second option
-Find your playlist and start watching
Can your iPhone do this?
So i can use XBMC and be able to control video on my PC from my phone, but when i try to play media on my PC to my phone the video and music library says no content. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...maybe I need my media in a specific folder? I tried my shared libraries in Win7, but nothing in those folders show up.

I had the same issue with Win7. Do you have the latest version of windows media player? If not upgrade, then make certain to select "allow remote control of my player" and "Automatically allow devices to play media" from the Stream tab in windows media player. This should to access the files instead of just seeing empty folders.
It works with an Xbox 360 using media center too.
Pretty useful for showing video clips on my phone via a bigger screen.

Still not working...I have the latest and enabled the two options listed, but when I select from my phone "play file from server on my phone" now my PC doesn't show up as an option.
The only time I see my PC as an option on my phone is if i'm running XBMC, but even then I don't see any videos to select.
Found this video that helped explain how to setup the video library in XBMC which was easy to do, but now when add any of my movies to the playlist it says it cannot play the video even though most of them are AVI...unless it can't play AVI on the phone player...if that's the case, that good sir is LAME.
Almost forgot the link to the helpful video
youtube dot com slash watch?v=bCx0XtWB37w
(can't post links yet with all my noobness)
edit: Found a WMV file on my PC...put that file in the library and added it to the playlist...it keeps looking like it's loading or something, but nevers ends up playing it was never meant to be I guess

Stream to WDTV Live Plus

I would like use my GT7510 to manage streaming content to my WDTV Live Plus. I can do some of what I would like to do now, by using Apps such as ZappoTV which allows me to send music, movies and photos stored on my PC to my AV Receiver. In order to make this happen, I have to use a media server such as TVersity. There are some limitations but basically this marriage works OK. I am hoping for something better.
I would really like to stream content from apps such as Pandora, AudioGalaxy, Google Music or even iTunes to my AV receiver without having to turn on my TV in order to access the WDTV UI. I have a projection TV that takes a few minutes to warm up so I would like to avoid this step if possible.
In a perfect world, I should be able to fire up my AV receiver, select the input assigned to WDTV box and send a stream that I can view or listen to in my GTab to my TV or stereo. Is this possible?
Bob
.. What are you hoping to do exactly? Your post is so unclear!
View content from your PC on your tablet?
View content from your WDTV on your tablet?
View content from your tablet on your WDTV?
Control your WDTV over your tablet?
"In a perfect world, I should be able to fire up my AV receiver [are you talking of another device, like a Satellite Receiver or Cable descrambler?], select the input assigned to WDTV box and send a stream [from the WDTV?] that I can view or listen to in my GTab [I understand the request, but shouldnt you be asking on a WDTV forum for an Android app? What does it have to do with the Tab? ] [wait, there's more; ] to my TV or stereo. Is this possible?"
From my understading this has nothing to do with the GTab; you are asking for WDTV device remote control support under Android OS (and much more, for that matter).
Go ask WD. And your AV receiver, TV, and stereo manufacturer as well...

There are Android remotes that will control the WDTV. There are more functional apps such as ZappoTV that allow you to use an Android or IOS device to send music or video to the WDTV. The problem is that none of these apps have their own way of viewing the WDTV UI so the TV screen has to do the job. I just want more.
What I really want to be able to do is to somehow send whatever I can view or listen to on my Tab, to my WDTV and eventually to my stereo or TV. This includes the output from apps such as Pandora or Audiogalaxy. If I can get whatever Pandora is playing on my Tab to the WDTV, I can listen to or view it on my AV system. Basically, I am trying to eliminate the WDTV UI as a middleman and just send stuff from the Tab.
I am not a dev and have no idea how to write code but the logical side of my brain says that this should be possible. Hopefully there are some smart folks out there who can figure out how to get it done
Bob
Ok then no, its not possible.
What you are asking for is a wireless HDMI-like output.
..How do you think all these devices would get the feed, anyway? Can your TV/stereo stream stuff over wifi directly (UPnP/DLNA)? If it does, then yes, using a UPnP/DLNA server app, you can share content from the Tab to that device.
But you'll never be able to share/see an app output (well.. anything any Tab displays) without HDMI.
I think what you need is a simpler solution. Buy a good bluetooth audio receiver and connects it to your Stereo/pre-amp linein. Then connect your tablet/mobilephone to the BT receiver. Open up your favorite apps, e.g. Tunein, 2Player (can play music stored on your NAS or network drives).
I myself use Logitech BT audio receiver. it sounds great.

Interesting. I've used Allshare and other DLNA apps to pull content from the network onto my Tab. I've never tried pulling anything OFF my tab to play on a TV or other Computer.
I'm pretty sure the WDTV can use DLNA to pull media from the network. I'm going to have to see if I can pull media from my Tab with it.
Your correct though that its a pull action and you can't PUSH media out to a device for viewing. At least as far as I know.

If you are talking about DLNA, a DMR (Digital Media Renderer) does exactly that. It receives "pushed" media from a DMC and plays it. The DMC itself gets the media from a DMS.
The tablet would be the DMC in that scenario. But I have no idea if the WDTV can act as a DMR or if it is just a DMP.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Living_Network_Alliance
Home Network Devices:
Digital Media Server (DMS): These devices store content and make it available to networked digital media players (DMP) and digital media renderers (DMR). Examples include PCs and network-attached storage (NAS) devices.
Digital Media Player (DMP): These devices find content on digital media servers (DMS) and provide playback and rendering capabilities. Examples include TVs, stereos and home theaters, wireless monitors and game consoles.
Digital Media Renderer (DMR): These devices play content received from a digital media controller (DMC), which will find content from a digital media server (DMS). Examples include TVs, audio/video receivers, video displays and remote speakers for music.
Note: it is possible for a single device (e.g. TV, A/V receiver, etc) to function both as a DMR (receives "pushed" content from DMS) and DMP ("pulls" content from DMS)
Digital Media Controller (DMC): These devices find content on digital media servers (DMS) and play it on digital media renderers (DMR). Examples include Internet tablets, Wi-Fi enabled digital cameras and personal digital assistants (PDAs).

[Q] PC Remote Play ?

I was wondering is there any aplication/concept for aplication that makes PC work as a "cloud" or stream video feed to my mobile phone via WLAN ?
I googled and did quick forun search and could only find aplications that allow you to control your PC, not see video feed.
This could be realy cool App, especialy since Onlive doesnt support some of the older (and free) games and isnt even available in every country.
CrazyRemote is able to control the PC at a very high framerate, which allows watching videos and even playing games remotely. If that's not what you're looking for, look for an app to stream from VLC

Wow, thats what i was looking for
Now i need to figure out is there a way to use Xplay controls (touch pads too)
If not, well thats too bad then.
Not exactly sure what you're trying to do but apart from the aforementioned crazyremote, check out teamviewer and vlc direct. maybe what you're looking for.
OnLive basically can do the functionality if you just want to play games. There is also an upcoming service from them called OnLive Desktop which is a whole Windows 7 desktop environment which allows for high framerate video streaming, flash, browsing, actual MS Office document edition in MS Office, etc.
Also, Nvidia was touting a new tech that would work with Tegra3 devices (not ours, I know, but on topic none-the-less) that would use the GPU to compress and decompress the input and audio/video stream to and from the computer to allow remote game playing or any other function.
Beyond that, framerates and others would depend on the technology, overhead, and speed of connection. You could use RDP (SplashViewer, etc) or whatnot. Most of this is not fully feasible for twitch games or suchnot, but okay for turn-based or some RPGs or whatever.
If all you want is just Video (like you have tons of .MPG, .MP4, etc) and audio streaming over the air (I assume by WLAN you mean cellular data and not WiFi) from your machine, you can try ORB. It takes a little setting up on the server end, but works nicely. There are a dozen little services that can be set up on your computer (especially if it is Linux). You just need to open that particular machine and the app's port to the DMZ (or internet directly) and then use a local app or your browser on your phone/tablet to reach it and view your stuff. If I remember correctly, ORB can even auto-downsize videos on the fly to match closer to your phone's viewing specs, and/or bandwidth.
If you mean WiFi, any DLNA source can work. You can even make your computer a DLNA source if you have Windows Media Center or one of a dozen other apps that can do it. Then you just have to get an app that can pull DLNA sources (I think Mobo can, as well as a number of others). Certain routers can also have a USB stick or USB hard drive plugged into them and use that as storage to present across the network as a DLNA source.
