Having Trouble with MMS on my HTC Hero on Cricket. Voice, text, and WAP are working fine. I used Apn backup to backup apn's and changed the "production" line settings so that it matched up with Cricket settings. MMS Proxy: wap.mycricket.com User: 10digit(at)mycricket(dot)com pass: cricket port:8080. The restored the apn's. I can send picture messages to the phone itself, it appears to go out and come back in. Other can send me picture messages and I receive them fine, but when sending messages to other they never receive the picture message. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have a problem to receive MMS.
I can send MMS
I can recieve and download MMS from myself
I can receive MMS from someone else - I can see sender name, MMS size etc. But when I tap - download I can see receiving notification icon at the top. Then it is disappeared and MMS still not downloaded. I tried many times but there is no success.
Smb can help?
I have a problem with any MMS! I can't seem to send or receive! Settings are as indicated by everyone but though it connects to WAP (UK O2 network) ok and WAP-able, MMS is no-go. Think you could write a few notes on what your settings are? I have a feeling it's the configuration of the MMS server, tia.

I have an MDA that will not send picture messages. Text messages work fine, but I've tried all the ways to send picture messages and I can't get picture messages to work!
Specs: T-Mobile MDA. I did the soft-reset trick to keep the customizations from loading. I then ran the cab file I found here to restore the MMS settings.
Server Name:T-Mobile MMSC
Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port: 9201
Server: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect Via: My Work Network <---- I don't have a data plan, but I do have a text messaging package from Tmo that apparently includes picture messaging. Is this my issue??
Sending Size Limitation: 100k
WAP Version: 1.2

I have the K-Jam with a Tmo plan and I have wondered about the same thing.
You can only send MMS messages through the wap APN. Thus, you must create a dialing connection to wap.voicestream.com and then specify the MMS connection to connect via that APN.

Go to Settings, Connections tab.
Select Connections
Under 'My ISP' select 'Add new connection'
For name, select T-Mobile WAP
For modem, select Cellular Line (GPRS)
Click Next
For Access point name, enter 'wap.voicestream.com'
Click next
Leave all fields (user name, etc) blank
Click Finish
Go to Messaging applet
Click MMS Configuration on Menu
Select Servers tab
If you have not already entered the T-Mobile server, do it now. (covered in other thread)
Under Connect via: drop down, select 'My ISP'
Click OK
Send an MMS message.
Also, if you have a T-Mobile family plan as I do, right now you can get unlimited messaging (text messaging, mms, etc) for 9.99/month. Our family shares a plan with 4 phones (two teenage daughters). That comes to 2.50 per phone for unlimited messaging. The best deal I know right now!
JonnoB,
Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, picture messaging still doesn't work. Since MMS requires transmittal over a GPRS connection, wouldn't that imply that you must have a data plan to use it?
I did exactly as outlined in your post and my phone even says "T-Mobile WAP (GPRS) Connected". However, I have no IE or picture messaging functionality. Thanks again for your input.

Yes, I think it does require some sort of plan. At least T-Zones because while the message is received via SMS, the rest of the data is downloaded from the WAP server afterward. If MMS is important to you, you should consider the $20 unlimited plan for data... or if you find yourself in hot spots, the $30 plan which includes unlimited wifi as well.
Oddly enough, T-Mobile customer care claims that a data plan is not required for MMS. Their solution was to hard reset the device. I'm not sure I want to hard reset with all the T-Mobile bloatware.
i,
anyone in Malta managed to set-up the WAP and MMS settings for the GoMobile operator in Malta? I tried coping the settings my old P800 line by line, but they don't seem to work.
ok, I have managed to send an mms now.
however I still cannot receive mms. I receive a notification that I have mms, but when it tries to download it it fails.
what could be wrong between the sendging and receiving?
just as an update, everything is working now. and WITHOUT any setting changes!
MMS is sending and receiving now
next I'll be trying the WAP just for kicks.
How did you manage?
Hi how did you manage to configure the mms settings for go mobile malta? I managed to configure GPRS, but mms just says sending and after 3 re-tries it fails.

Softbank MMS on Hero Android
Hello,
Exactly same problem here. The basic keys to solution are listed below
1.
I have hear from here that the problem can be fixed by setting up and using your own proxy server. I would gladly set this up and share with others, just do not know how.
2.
Another important thing is to forge User Agent - I have done so using HandcentSMS (free on android market), but still no luck
3.
it is necessary to setup APN properly. Currently I do not know wether I have to merge FlatRate Internet and MMS into a single APN or have separate APNs for Internet and MMS.
4. Anything else???
Anyone solved the MMS problem with Softbank so far?

Which type of USIM card are you using?
In my case, I am using iPhone Black USIM card & cyanogen MOD.
And it works perfect. Of course I set up my APN as of iPhone.
In my test and experience, UA setting is very sensitive.
Wrong UA, NO mms.
Proper UA for your USIM card, MMS is there.
Good luck.
Hey guys,
I'm on Softbank as well.. so far no problems sending MMS but have had problems receiving MMS on several occasions.. I can accept MMS from other Softbank numbers, and in most cases, emails from other providers (@softbank, @docomo, @ezweb, etc). But there have been problems receiving from webmails such as Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, etc.. The MMS notification arrives, but when it actually downloads the messages, it's empty.. meaning a blank message from Anonymous.. Occasionally, I do have problems with emails that are in Japanese..
I've merged both FlatRate Internet and MMS APN settings into one APN and haven't had any problems with it as far data transfers and MMS is concerned.. but, I've only used this settings for a month, and at the moment, the FlatRate Internet seems to be working.. I'll have to check next month's bill to be sure..
I'm using the old Vodafone USIM (been here a while) with HT-03A Black on CyanogenMod 4.2.9.1 with UA set as 705NK.. the ones provided in the CM build didn't seem to work as well..

hi
i have a nokia e51 unlocked - about three months ago when i first got it i managed to set up all the apn stuff ok and then after a couple of weeks the mms stopped working with an error message like mms server refused message.
i entered a different apn setting and it worked fine:
??” MMS ??” server: open.softbank.ne.jp
user: opensoftbank
pass: ebMNuX1FIHg9d3DA authentication:
Normal home page: http://mms/
proxy server address: mmsopen.softbank.ne.jp
proxy server nunber: 8080
but today it stopped working again - i cant send mms messages - just says waiting and retry.
has this happened to anyone else? none of the other apn settings i've found and used for mms work.
many thanks in advance for any info.
web browsing is fine using:
??” Web ??” server: open.softbank.ne.jp
user: opensoftbank
pass: ebMNuX1FIHg9d3DA
authentication: Normal
home page: None
proxy server address:
None proxy server nunber: 8080
some users can't send/receive mms with ICS, i believe the reason is the system can not match the APN type,in general, the APN type mms will be used when send and receive mms.so, i try to copy the mms setting to default, yes ,mms can work very well.
