many moons ago i got my google voice account, and one person i sent an invite to (out of my 3 invites) never activated the account for some reason... is there a way to get google to give me the invite back so that i can send it to someone who will actually use it?
Wouldn't Google be able to answer that question?
Nope you can't get it back....although I suppose you could setup a new email address & then send one of your remaining invites to yourself. If you do that then the new account might get more invites.
yes, but if you know how to get in touch with someone who works on google voice let me know lol.
as for sending myself an invite that's not an option, the invite that i sent was my 3rd and last, and it's just sitting there not accepted for weeks now!

I already have a Google Voice account, but just received a couple of new invites on other e-mails that I had signed up a while back. I obviously don't need three GV accounts so I'll be giving one out for free via a random name drawing for any that show interest. I think I've got the other one going to someone, but if not, I'll be giving out both of them.
If you're interested, just leave a quick reply to this post on PPCGeeks and I'll follow up soon with further details as to who is the lucky recipient.

I'm pretty sure if you have a 2.1 ROM, you can just download the Google Voice app and that will get you in... I'm running SushiROM 2.02 and it worked for me.
you can sign up online and automatically get accepted if you have a gmail account and an android phone i believe. I never needed an invite.

I did, but it says my gmail is not hooked up to google voice, and when I try to go to google voice, it asks me to apply for an invite. I did that like a year ago, and never received one.
You get a free Google voice invite by purchasing a nexus one. Use a computer and log into your account that you setup with your nexus, and you can pick your voice number.
I purchased my nexus one with my Gmail account and it still says I have to wait for an invite.
Invitations Left
Sometimes the invite comes and people delete them or they end up in weird places.
I will offer up one of my 10 remaining invites.
Once I get your private message, I will submit the invite.
Thank you,
Adam Stafford
Let me know
Let me know if you need one.
Just wondering, isn't Google Voice US only?
I am an American. I am on vacation right now.

Google Voice Invites have been used
Hi all,
Wow that was alot of responses so fast. The originator of the post and a few others got personal invites and the rest have been submitted for an invite from Google.
Good luck to the rest of you, check your PM from me to see what was the status of your invites.
Either: Personal invite or Invite on your behalf.
Thanks.
One more thing if you would like to visit the Google Voice Invite and sign up for yourself please log into your GMail account first then visit http://bit.ly/GV-Invite
Not sure if this makes a difference but I want to make sure Google knows you already have a account associated when you submit the request.
I received an invite long time ago but it is useless for me since im not in united states
Google Voice for ALL!!
Get Google Voice now! [Open for Everyone!]
Thanks for the clarification Google, "Everyone in the US to try!"
Hi All,
This weekend I installed a couple of ROMs and played about with my phone quite a bit. I didn't install new apps, except for the ones I already had in previous ones.
Unfortunately this morning I have found that my google account has been hacked and some sod has been sending emails from my e-Mail address. Here are the details as provided by google:
Mobile India (125.19.103.21) 08:53 (2.5 hours ago)
I am not placing blame on anyone, or pointing fingers, but perhaps it can serve as an alert to the mostly honest XDA community.
you live in india?

In short, no I am not sure ... but the coincidence cannot be overlooked. I've had my account for several years and this had never happened before.
I also checked my PCs and they're clean, I don't use (or let anyone use) my account for stupid things like sending out webcards or anything of the like.
My intention though wasn't to indicate there is a problem, but to raise awareness of the potential for one.
weird problem , should figure out what it is ..

btw, your account may be hacked through wireless when you login not using https/encryption
Did you check what was sent from your account?
hey
did you use a "good" password btw?
bb.
This is odd. Same thing happened to me couple of days ago.
Aparently someone sent the following message: "Subject: Have been searching for a best place to buy drugs? here it is: **url removed**" to all my google contacts.
My account was locked, with a message saying it was "compromised" - asking me to reactivate the account over sms / phonecall.
I did not check where this happened from , i just reactivated and changed my password.
I had the same thing happen to one of my dummy Gmail accounts a while back... an account i hardly use and have certainly never logged into on Android..
Just pure unlucky mate, nothing to do with Android any build or any Chef...
Reset your password - delete the crap - and get on with life...
This has also recently happened to my yahoo and facebook account, since the two were linked on winmo, I traced it found it came through via one of those stupid apps that someone dropped on my wall. Facebook has been going through a rough patch of these types of break-ins. It could be something with that if you own a FB account.

oh .. my also locked 2 days before ..... is this is all about this , oh man ...
i am using android now for several weeks and yesterday was the first time my phone asked me for my google password (in a textbox), after i entered it, everything was normal.
but now as i read this topic, i instantly changed my google account password
I'd agree that it ain't android...I've been getting e-mails from facebook/gmail friends, most of them with a topic saying: "Hi:" and most of them are fake user ads from a Taiwanese company. Be careful who you add on FB/Gmail etc.
I'll quickly reply to all of you as best I can
1) WinMo ROM is completely empty. No accounts setup, no contacts, even sense is disabled.
2) My Gmail password is quite strong (which is what surprised me the most) it is longer than 8 chars, combination of symbols, letters and numbers
3) I don't use *any* facebook apps/games, precisely for that reason
4) I had some returned undelivered messages in my inbox this morning, it was spam with a link to a website
5)My email account spoofed, I don't care. Happens all the time and there is not much you can do about that. What concerns me is that this person actually logged into my account and managed to send mail to all my contacts.
I'll post a list of my android apps soon (it's quite long)
Do you use the Gawker service to login to any of the websites they are a part of?

If so, that could be a good reason why you're getting spam.
I received my Nexus 7 32GB 3G model on Friday and I have discovered something I cannot figure out.
I have an email account using Exchange ActiveSync (my company runs Exchange 2010). When I see a meeting invite in my inbox there is no button to accept or decline. When I view the meeting in my calendar I can mark it as ATTENDING Yes Maybe No.
Selecting Yes doesn't send a confirmation or remove the invitation from my inbox. There should be a way to accept or decline a meeting invite. I have that option on my HTX One X.
I'm running a stock 4.2 ROM JOP40C build. I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted the device using the Wugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit v1.55.
There is an option, (i've just tested to confirm my memory) although you might have to change tabs to see it. Under the to/from bar there should be 3 tabs: message, invite, attachment. Pick invite and select your answer. Fixed?

I just sent a test meeting invite from my home email to my work email. When I see the meeting invite in my work email I do see two tabs (message and invite). There was no attachment, so that is probably why I didn't see that tab. I missed that the first time I saw a meeting invite.
I was able to select invite and accept the meeting. I was not given the option if I wanted to send a response or if I wanted to add comments. The HTC mail app on my One X gives me those additional options.
So accepting the message worked OK. Then I went back to my home email and cancelled the meeting. When I received the cancellation message in my work email, there were no tabs to allow me to remove it from my calendar. I had to go to my calendar and delete the meeting and then go back to my inbox and delete the cancellation message.
I think Google needs to put a lot more work into their stock mail app. I can see why some of the OEMs replace it in their builds.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a replacement mail app that works well with the Nexus 7 screen resolution?
Have you tried K9 mail or Kaiten mail?
Very good mail apps from what I've heard.

I just looked at both those apps in the Play store and they both say they support Exchange 2003/2007 using WebDAV. My company is running Exchange 2010 and I need to use ActiveSync, not WebDAV. Exchange 2013 has been out for a while now and these apps only support up to Exchange 2007.
