Is there way to totally remove the People's Tabs and go directly to ALL PEOPLE? I never use the People's Tabs because I have too many contacts I use all the time and always have to immediately press the ALL PEOPLE button to get to all my contacts, which is so annoying.
So, is there a way to go to all contacts directly and totally remove or by by-pass the People's Tabs?
Thanks
taking people tab off.
well, you can disable the tab by going to settings->personalize->home screen tabs, then unchecked People, then tap done.
this will relaunch the sense UI without the people tab.
to launch All People
remove a quicklink if you're quicklink is full,
click on an empty quicklink to open a link,
then add a People icon.

Yes that removed the People's Tab from the bottom of the Manila Home Screen Tabs, but that is not what I want. I want to launch ALL PEOPLE directly from that icon bypassing the useless PEOPLE/FAVORITES screen that shows-up first

No, like mentioined this is not what I want either, I want to use the People icon on the bottom Manila Home Screen Tabs.
i.m pretty sure you would need to rebuild the people manila files. (or create a whole new tab). Not an easy prospect!
What about that?
74. Add All Contacts to Home Screen Left Softkey
By default the left softkey on the the Sense home tab is coded to Phone which is pointless and a waste because you can get to the same Phone page by pressing the Send hardware key. Change it to the All People page (eliminating 2 taps) by using the following reg entry:
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila
HomeLSKPath = !"\Windows\manila.exe" --switchtopage Manila://people\browserlayer\?.page
HomeLSKText = Contacts
As an alternative, you could consider just having an "all people" soft key on the home page (you'd still need the people tab enabled for this to work though.)

Hi,
I just installed the official 6.5 update but I think the WM 6.5 "Honeycomb" start menu is that damn slow when you got a lot of programs there. You have to scroll a lot and scrolling doesn't look very fluid.
Is there a way or a registry hack to get back the old HTC start menu that was delivered when the Diamond2 originally came out? The best would be if there where 4 icons in a row.
I've added a snapshot to show what I mean. Yes, as you can see on the snapshot I'm back to 6.1
My startmenu is very fluid to be honest, I got my programs and stuff sorted in folders. Like games, media (coreplayer etc), network (commanager etc), personal (phone, sms, email etc), GPS, system (total commander, resco explorer, reg edit etc). I will install SPB Screenshot and show you how it looks.
Here you go.

Its still there under the programs tab... ? or at least it is on mine...
sorry if this is a noob question, but how do i add folders to the start menu like you've done? and change icons?
I have done the same thing that you have done, Created folders in the start menu, to do this you just go to windows/startmenu and create folders in there.
However every time I soft reset my device, extra icons appear on the main start page screen. Is there any way to remove these?
I would love to go back to the HTC Start Menu as it was so much better, I know it is on a Tab on Touch Flow 3D but it defeats the point in having a hardware button to launch programs!

I totally agree. The current Startmenu lack the support for hiding items en ordering them. Love to find a solution.
I do not have any issues restructuring my start menu.
The only icons I keep on the main page are Phone and Reset, everything else is in a sub-folder and does not add icons to the main page.

True, but the TouchFlo "Programs" was much easier.
So am I the only one who's missing the drop-down menu when you tap the Start button - you know, the one that lists seven favourites and your four or five most recent programs?
Why should I navigate the Honeycomb every time I want to go to a program I use about 30 times a day?
Any fixes/hacks to bring this back? Or am I being really stupid and there's a simple option that I haven't found yet?

You can do this with Topaz Keyboard Controller: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555821
Map the Start button to run the program "\Windows\manila.exe" with arguments "--switchtopage programs.page", and it should work perfectly - does for me.
like the title says..the htc people.ink seems to have disappeared from start menu how do I get it back thanks
have you removed it from the home screen tabs because it takes the icon away from the start menu as well?
tap menu - personalize home screen tabs and see if people is ticked
Oh, yes I had removed it from the tabs! Feel stupid now, but thanks a lot for your help
Wanted to make it so that I could link to All People in the quicklinks only and not have the tab.

Just a thought, but have you tried removing the tab (Home page, Menu, Personalise Home Page Tabs) and then re-adding it?
I don't know if that will work, but I suspect it will.
Also, have you done any mods to remove the HTC shortcuts in your startmenu? That does it too.

Maybe you can add manually a shortcut to:
' "\Windows\ManilaShortcut.exe" people/browserlayer/peopleAll'
i have the same problem....i installed miri rom v 10...nothing wrong with it so far except that i can't find the htc people shortcut in the start menu & i don't know how to get it back...and that is really annoying...
is threre a way that i can make some shortcuts??
for example.. i would like to have footprints on one of my quicklinks.. i do not want it as its own individual tab thing.. so i tried to connect it to a quick link.. but i noticed there isn't a shortcut for it.. so do i have to make my own? is it as simple as a registry hack?? any tips anyone?

1. You must enable "Footprints" in your "Home screen tab" (Home -> menu -> Personalize home screen tab)
2. You can now put a "Footprints" as your quick link adding by touching the empty quick link and go to "programs"
3. After you add it on quick link you can again go to: Home -> menu -> Personalize home screen tab and then remove "footprints" from "Personalize home screen tab")
4. Go back to HOME and VOILA...footprints are on quick link BUT not on "Home screen tab"
wow... nicely done mate...
ahh... but it now doesn't open up once i remove the individual tab.....
i wonder why that is?? anyone else wanna take a jab at it??
hmmm...i see now...
dunno where is the problem...with tweeter is the same problem...
yea... shoot.. it was close though... great effort... but i recall reading somewhere about people "creating" shortcuts via registry edits... is there a way to do this??
Hi all !
I have seen a video of the new htc HD mini and it has a cal hystory button just under the calendar button ( the style is the very same ! ), I think that this is very useful, is there any change to bring this in manila 2.5 wvga ( the one of the HD2 to be mre precise ! ) ?
If you want "Call history" under "no new appointments" just use Co0kie's home Tab. In CHT Editor you can set to always show call history and for example hide permanently Calendar. Try it.

could you please link me it ? anyway I would like to only add callhystory windows without touch all the rest..
mhm I have checked Co0kie's home Tab but it completly change manila aspect I only would like to have the call hystory icon that's it !
You can keep everything the same, just keep the settings for 3x3 quicklinks, 1 page only, the call history tab always showing as you want it, dont enable the CHT lockscreen. and dont move anything around on the home tab!
Just go throught the settings and keep it all to match the stock look, and just enable your call history tab. Actually coming to think about it, there might not be space for it with the first 3 quicklinks showing. but thats the only gripe. maybe if you change the clock to the one without the weather details showing, then you can fit it in.
Hi,
Coming from Windows Mobile and the "Manila" HTC Sense UI there - I miss the menu/shortcut where I had easy access to a selection of shortcuts to create a new sms/e-mail/appointment/task etc.
Is there any app or other way to create sometning similar - for instance as shortcuts on a home screen? I looked a bit at AnyCut, but I can't see how one can create such shortcuts from there...
Part of the problem here, I guess, is that I use quite a mix of software for these assignments (K9mail, Got To Do, HTC Calendar, HTC Messaging etc).
Any inputs are welcome, thanks!
I don't know if this is what you're talking about, but when you press the customize button/ long click on the main homescreen near the bottom of that screen (Above folders) is Shorcut button where you can add shortcuts to the home screen Have a look in there and see if any of those are what you want
I think he wants a group of direct shortcuts to, for example, "compose new message", "add new appointment", etc..
Basically, a "new..." menu.
You could use LauncherPro (or ADWLauncher, I assume) to do it, as long as you're not married to your Sense widgets. Long-press on the desktop, shortcuts -> activities, and experiment from there.
You could bundle all the shortcuts together in a folder on your desktop and call it a day.
I wonder if there's a widget that can do it, though.
catachresistant is on the right track...
You can put shortcuts into folders with sense too....
