More LED Options like Stock Android Phones - Droid Incredible General

Has anyone figured out a hack to get a Sense UI device to display more than green, amber, or red like the Vanilla Android phones.

i dont think you can hack sense, so much as just- root the phone and then have control over led coloring.

Notification leds

Is it possible to manage the led notifications?
Like in Kaiser Notification Leds. I wonder if the Leo can do more colors except green amber, does anybody know?
I would also like to know this Id love to change the actual LED to a brighter one.... but I know nothingabout LED hardware
I dunno about the notification LEDs, but you can control the button's LEDs with leoNotify

Front LED Notification Customization

In the older HTC devices, the notification LED used to blink constantly indicating phone service service was on.
1. Is there a program that can do this for the EVO?
2. Does something like this require root?
I searched: http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=38508139
I don't believe there is.
Pretty sure all it lets you do LED wise is choose what applications that will cause your LED to go off.
Menu>> Settings>> Sound 7 display>> Notification flash
i saw an app in the market, wasnt specifically for evo, and had to be rooted, which i am not
search led i think, or flashlight
If you're referring to the same led flashlight program I saw, it's the flash LEDs on the back next to the camera so you can use them as a flashlight instead of the actual screen like in past "flashlight" programs. I don't think that's what the OP was looking for.

You are right, that is not what I am looking for. I would like the notification LED on the front of the phone in the earpiece to blink green when the phone is idle and has a cell signal. I would like to know if this is possible to code into an application or even into the ROM. if it is not possible to code, then I can move on I guess.
Essentially, you want what the HTC Mogul did... constantly flashing for nothing other than to let you know it had signal. I found that quite annoying, but to each their own.

LED Control

Just rooted me phone. Thanks to everyone who contributed to it!
With root, do we have control over the led color notifications finally? Or does that require more semantics?
Moto Droid's LED notifier is RGB. DroidINC has to have something similar right, because we get Red, Green, and Orange..unless they someone how have three colors in that tiny hole...
I don't understand... what does the study of words and the meaning herein have to do with LED control? Did I miss something?

What do you mean LED color? The LED flash is the only LEDs on the phone and they are one color. You can swap it out for a custom color leds and put them in the place of the dual flash LEDs but other than that you can not change the color.

Oh, let's not argue about semantics
I read somewhere other than XDA that HTC had released the Incredible devices source code which, if true, will lead to all kinds of devices-level mods. I personally would like to see the soft button backlights be dimmeable, or individual controllable for different kinds notifications, or possible a scrolling/marquee style effect so it looks like KITT is in charge ehehe.

He's talking about the notification LED on the front of the phone.
and OP there's nothing out that I'm aware of as of now.
I don't think any software modification would allow you to change the color of the notification LED at the top or the LEDs at the bottom (Home, menu, etc). However, I don't know anything about LED technology to argue my thought(s). I assuming that whatever color bulb they put in there is what you get.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to have the bottom buttons a red color to match the top speaker/camera areas because the phone would look absolutely badass but I'm not about to pry the screen off or take the phone apart to do it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Dinc has at least a green and red LED for notifications. The Moto Droid however has RGB so you can pretty much make any color appear. That is also why there are a lot of options in apps like Handcent and Missed Call.
Sorry for the confusion, all. But yeah, I was referring to the LED notification on the front.
The LED flash on the back- is a bulb which can only push out white. But the one in the front pushes out Red, Green, and Orange. And with the moto droid, you could manipulate color notifications with different programs..
so my question is more of- is it software that locks those colors or hardware that does... thanks for clarifying my question-jrkrush2112
I suspect the notification LED in the Dinc is a tri-color which gives you red, green and a form of brown which looks like amber. It is not a RGB LED like in the Moto Droid.
So you already have the colors that are available.

It's most likely a mix of both. The hardware portion is the fact that we don't have an RGB LED like the droid, and software is just what options are pre-set. We will be able to change the colors for notifications, but we are limited in options.

Activate your Nexus 6 LED Notification Light

Hello Everyone,
I'm sure this has been covered before and a lot of you already know about or have already activated your Notification LED on your Nexus 6. This thread is for people who did not know about the LED or don't know how to activate it.
So, the Motorola Nexus 6 has a RGB Notification Light. It is placed inside / beneath the top speaker. Motorola / Google decided to disable it in favor of the Ambient Display feature. Why would they not still leave it available as an option? I have no idea. It is pretty easy to activate it though. Here is what you need to do.
1. Your Nexus 6 must be rooted.
2. Download Light Flow Lite (FREE) on the Google Play Store.
3. In the Light Flow App, go into Settings, then Device Settings and Root. You must select the following options: Direct Mode, Root Mode, Run every command as root. If all three of these are not selected, your LED will not work.
4. Now just go into Notification Settings in the Light Flow App and you can fully customize your Notification Light.
For example, I have my Notification Light set to turn red while charging and green when fully charged. When I unplug my phone, the light goes off instantly. I also set red for missed calls, green for text messages, and blue for emails (Gmail). This is sufficient for my needs but you can also setup specific app notifications as well like Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. You can even set the cycle timings for when you have multiple notifications.
The only issue with the Notification Light in the Nexus 6 is that you can not make it blink. It will stay on / solid until you clear the Notification. I don't believe this will effect battery life too much, especially being Light Flow gives you control of the brightness of the LED. Also, Light Flow gives options for other various colors such as orange, purple, white, etc. I have only gotten Red, Green, and Blue to work so far. I am currently looking into this.
This method works whether you are stock or even if you have a custom kernal / rom. There are quite a few custom roms for the Nexus 6 that activate the LED as well.
I have decided to post this because when I looked into activating my Notification Light on my Nexus 6 I came across a few methods, and this is the only one that worked.
Also, most importantly, all of the guides / people I have talked to about activating the LED on the Nexus 6 that direct you to Light Flow claim you need the paid version and you do NOT. If this use to be the case it is not anymore. I have full control of my LED and I do NOT have the paid version of Light Flow.
There are dozens of ROMs to download that already have the notification light working... So I guess this really only pertains to those who buy a Nexus and wish to remain completely stock except for these mods? In which case, same a custom ROM but they are doing the mods themselves.

I agree. I have had my Nexus 6 for about a month myself. I have not tried out any custom roms yet. I like keeping it simple / stock. I just wanted my Notification Light is all. This thread is more directed at stock users I guess.
I can only get Red, Green, and Blue colors though.

Same here. I believe that is all the light is physically capable of producing. I think that is the outcome regardless of the method used. (Light Flow, Custom ROM, etc)

LED Notification Colors

I am still new to this phone.. but i'm trying to find out if the LED light allows for more colors than just Green and Amber ?
I had tried LED Light Manager and it didn't seem to make other colors..
Now that i'm rooted and running Viper ROM.. I see that they only have options for "apps to use amber instead of green"...
so does that mean that is the only color options?
Thanks!

Right.
It's not like the Samsung galaxy phones that use a red, green, and blue led and basically mix the colors to create any color of the rainbow, the HTC's have just an amber or green LED and you have the choice of one or the other or neither

yeah i think that is what i was used too... had the S4, S3 and also the Nexus 5... all had various colors for the LED.
my biggest gripe is i wish it was a larger and brighter LED.. but overall still a wonderful phone.
