big issue about youtube - XPERIA X10 General

i just got my x10i yesterday and i was trying to open a youtube video, but i found that i dont have youtube.apk inside my x10, i try to reset everything but still dont have it. now i cant enjoy my youtube time, so what can i do. Can anyone help me please??

Try googling for youtube.apk and install it with astro or something. I'm pretty sure that would work, not sure why you don't have it preinstalled though :s

Angry Birds beta for Android

I read a couple of days back that the wildly popular game on iOS - Angry Birds has been released for android...however I'm not able to find the application on the market.
Could it be an android 1.6 limitation or a region restriction?
Also if someone has the .apk file for it...could you please upload it...i would be really grateful to you! Thanks !
you have a PM
I was just a little late also. I guess they pulled it pretty quick. I signed up for their distribution emails, so hopefully they will open it back up and let me in!
There is an other thread with an mediafire link where you can download the demo

Yes, I have the same problem.
just keep relaunching it. it eventually works.

you can either keep launching it until it eventually works, or if you have a task killer kill all running apps then launch the game and it will boot instantly.

Yea, I have the same problem too but it seems to die of after a couple of days of playing the game lol. It force closes once in a while but it starts again if I relaunch it. You should report for bugs too cuz this is only the beta version
If you tap the screen while it's loading, the game loads up just fine.
It also runs incredibly smoothly, and for the moment, has better graphics than the iPhone version.
And look at that, it's not a 1.6 problem. Yay.
How come I can't find this game in the marketplace?

Never have any problem with angry bird on X10.
It just ran and start when every time i launched it.
However, I do have FC problem on my HTC Hero Froyo, and I have to continue tapping the screen to get the game work.
It's on the market for me...i just downloaded it then.
EDIT: after opening it, it's a different app.

Install Error...
Hi Team,
I downloaded the APK file thru Mediafile listing.
I am having problems installing this.
First, I downloaded the APK, uploaded to the phone via Bluetooth, then used Astro to browse to the APK file, and launched the application installer,
As with any application installer, it warns what specific android functions this app is going to access, I moved forward, keep clicking on install..and it keeps bringing me back to the same page, telling me about what specific android functions this app is going to access, I keep clicking on install, is not doing it!
Why?
My phone is rooted with a R2BA026 firmware & allowed unsigned installations (thru applications settings)
Any help?
Also, its confirmed to work on 1.6 as per: http://androidandme.com/2010/09/game...ndroid-market/
Also, wanted to know: I googled the mediashare file link, the official file name is: com.rovio.angrybirds_lite.apk (11.41M)
Now, what am I doing wrong?
There's no reason for an App not to work on Android 1.6 anyway, the Android SDK makes it really easy for a developer to develop a single apk for basically all versions of the OS starting from 1.6 by just setting one line in a XML file. (1.5 is different since it has too much limitations)
The only reason for an app to skip 1.6 would be OpenGL ES 2.0 (most app only use OGL ES 1.1 or use a fallback renderer) or the absolute need of multitouch (applications generally catch the error and fallback to singletouch events in that case tough.)
Really applications that don't work on Android 1.6 are badly written (*cough* Twitter) and even those using NDK shouldn't need android 2.x. (*cough* Mozilla)

Help with Gameboid

Hey guys . i have been killing a game on my phone the last two days , and am wanting to get the save states from my gameboid app off my phone so i can load them onto my wii .
Problem is i cant find any trace of gameboid in my file system anywhere. Anyone know where the save files go to? or where gameboid installs to?
i would just download one off the net , but thats dirty , and its kind of a rare game so i couldnt find any anyway.
I know this isnt a typical question and kinda nerdy , but at least its a break from froyo threads haha .
thanks guys

sweet! have you already tried using ADB to browse the system files / partition of your phone? You are not limiting your search to just the SD Card...right?
ABD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875963
Didn't use adb, but browsed around in root manager. But I'm not real where to look. I found the apk haha. But no trace in the system. Still looking though
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
If it's like the other apps installed to the phone, it should save to /data/data/<name of apk>/ and if it isn't there, it may have made a directory on the sdcard.
Gameboid savegame files get saved in the exact same place as the ROM, wherever you put it. They're even suffixed as .sav.
You're Over analyzing this. The save states are on your sd card. Just mount your phone on your pc. Look in your sd card for the save states. If you can't find them I'll load gameboid up and find where it defaults to, but when I used nesoid I had to choose where my games where then the save states generate there.

were you successful in porting your save files to VBA? I want to do the same on my mac instead of my wii
actually , not yet . looks like vba and game boid do not use the same save state types . But i am looking into a way to convert them now . im pretty sure its possible. will report back when i have succeeded haha
Actually, i've been working on this.
I found the .sav file on my phone, copied it to my pc, did some linking stuff in no$GBA (just another GBA emulator), and was able to save it.
However, when you are trying to place the file back on your phone it won't be detected by Gameboid, it loads from the save file it keeps itself which is called a .ss0 file (first saving slot), when you delete the .ss0 file it also wont read the .sav file and just asks you to start a new game.
So now im trying to find a way to bypass / edit my way in so i will be able to throw back my .sav file to my phone to keep playing there, however not much succes there yet.
Edit:
Just figured out that i can turn off that the auto save will be loaded directly, so can "load" my own safe file first now, however the game says the save file is erased due to corruption or damage, so i will try to make a new save file using another emulater... will keep you guys updated
Very interesting. I'm having similar issues. Make sure to keep me posted. I'm still working on it as well. Surely one of us will figure it out.

Youtube Cannot play video

Since last week whenever I try to play a youtube video either through the internet or the youtube app on my phone I get a message saying
Cannot play video
Sorry this video cannot be played.
Anyone have any ideas how I can solve it?
Almost all youtube videos would play on the phone before.
Hi.
Ive had the same problem. Try on wifi. If it works that mean your network operator has some issues (o2 ireland has some technical probs with all data plans for last 5 weeks for example)

I had the same thing a few weeks ago after playing with my hosts file and some other system files (trying to install swype beta)..but I also couldn't play mp3s or most other audio file formats (which seemed to have a flow on effect to not letting youtube work).
I gave up trying to fault find (logcat wasn't giving much away) and factory reset didn't fix, so restored an earlier full backup in clockwork.

Dunno...lol
I am having a similar problem..only slightly complicated. Not only doesn't youtube work, even my video files can't be viewed. Ringer doesn't work either. However a reboot temporarily solves this problem before it strikes back again. Been doing this for more than the last 10 days..

having a similar problem, cant search any video on youtube. says network problem??
That sound like what it says,a network prob...
Try going to airplane mode and back, or even just hitting retry a few times works for me.

Yep. Twitter app is the culprit. Quite a few of the latest reviews for it mention the problem.
Don't know if Twitter is aware of the issue but hopefully it'll get fixed.

Don't install Demo.apk

Hey my friends,
Played around with my one and found a file named "Demo.apk" and installed it.. Watched the fancy movie.. and I just realized that all my apps are gone..
So be carefull..

lol
What was the video like?
Bit strange how your apps have gone? Can you enlighten, is it all apps? Or Play Store Apps, or HTC Apps .. .. if HTC Apps a hard reset may bring them back?
Now you said this will be interesting to see how many people try it for themselves. . . lol
Could it be the demo video for in-store display?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I added a warning in the app section long ago,I installed it on my OneX and it erased both messages and phonebook to replace them with fake ones
So where does this demo.apk come from? Did you download it?

The file is stored in /system/demoflo/
And was allready on my phone.
It was some introducing to the phone, with following links/information to the HTC zoe, boom and stuff..
All Apps, installed with the store AND manual installed with apk are gone, also messages.. and there were fake contacts and apointments in Phonebook and Calendar..

Restart
Are the apps also gone after restarting the phone?
jepp, all apps are gone even after a restart..
Can the apk be deleted? I'd hate to accidentally install it! What were HTC thinking?! Is that path only accessible with root?
No root here, and not possible to delete it :/
Gesendet von meinem HTC One
So it's a handy app to use to display the phone in stores. Users could go out of their mind, install apps and rerunning the app would clear the phone.
Just to make sure. It didn't remove the original apps that came with your phone right? So, just do a factory reset and set up your accounts again. Good luck and thanks for the tip.... (Although I have an almighty urge to run that app now lol)
LOL
i did this after a couple of days of getting my ONE just how i like it..
i wasnt too pleased but hey if your gonna go digging expect to fall into a hole now and again.. LOL
HTC have a mini website about this file giving shop staff a kind of prep talk "your perfect pitch is just a few steps away"
i wont do this again..

What is your Rom version?
I had done this as well, two days after I got the phone, you can only get to the demo.apk by using a file explorer that lets you get to the root of the file system, rootexploer does this by default and esfile explorer can be set to go up to root.
For anyone that has done this have you noticed the phone randomly resetting itself and the WiFi crashing (won't connect to access points and wifi setting are unresponsive) requiring a reset to re enable it? My phone is doing this and I'm not sure if I have a faulty phone or if its because I powered the phone down when I noticed it complaining about too many calendar deletes at once as the demo app was running.

I think that Demo is for shop demo purpose. It will delete some app and play some random video and delete lots profile. E.g Contact, message thread. The only way to recover is to do Factory reset
Hmmm just wondering why did you even install the app located in the system partition? lol Just makes me wonder I haven't really encountered someone who installs apk inside the system partition
Demo sucks except you want to test the game so badly. haha
