trying to give a new life to my old HTC

if you have the cab file version, you just click on that and install it to your micro-sdcard. If you just download the files just copy them to you micro-sdcard and run haret.exe

the cwm method is the best method to load android

last time i tried android was several months ago but i had lot of hangs and freeze so decided to use a WM6.5 Rom (with stock sense is very stable and fast). now i'm tryng since 2 days the thaidai build
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1177721
and seems to be quite stable and fast but i think it's not an allday system because there are still some issues with wifi, bluetooth and market (after installation sometimes reboot).
Hope it helps
Andrea

Does anyone know if the speaker works in the Android builds?

The speaker works but not loud, and audio stutters when you listen to music.

just use the a recent updated build like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167324

[Q]How to duplicate OS from one HD to another HD

I actually have two HD, one of them (HD1) is running Miri's rom which I downloaded in early Sep, and I failed to keep the rom now.
But I'm desperate to have the same rom on my HD 2, if there anyway I can duplicate the OS from one onto another? kind of like copy and paste in dos mode?
I've tried to run spirite backup from HD1 to HD2, but it failed to restore the same OS on HD2, particularly the Touchflo settings.
I've tried to copy and paste one of the OS files into another one with win explorer, but i knew that's not going to work, because those system files are in use and cann't be replaced. I also tried to boot in bootloader mode, but then I couldn't figure out where to copy the files as they don't show and disk in windows.
I'm wondering if there's any tools can do the duplicate, or any tools can recognize the phone in bootloader mode and able to copy the internal disk. and my last hope is if I could make my own rom based on my current OS in HD1?
This is a long question.

install the rom which u have on hd1 to hd 2.
take a backup of ur settings of hd1 on ur sd card using sashmi and restore the same on ur hd2.
for cooking ur own roms go thru the threads of the kitchen in the rom development section...
Thanks, guy.
I couldn't get the old rom, the latest version of rom comes with the new icons for touchflo, those colored taps. That's why I'm trying to duplicate the old version OS.
I'm trying Sashimi now, hope it could change the touchflo setting as well.
Otherwise, maybe need to cook the rom.
Will post up if it works.

the problem is I forgot which version I had, Miri update very fast, and I couldn't find the old rom links he put.
I think it was around early September, ard Sep 2, 3, probably.
Don't SPB have some kind of ghosting software for Windows Mobile? SPB Clone I think it's called. Not sure if that will work for what your after.
Hi Guys,
I found the rom, it's V26.3 Premium, there was a mirror links in middle of the post. I digged it out, and then use Sashimi to copy all of the rest setting from HD1 to HD2. cools.
Thanks a lot for all your reply.
Will try the ghost if need next time.

(ROM) Anyone can help me the correct way to flash my Viva

Hi there, i have some problem regarding flashing the ROM..
Currently i am using WM 6.1 for my HTC VIVA..and i wish to flash it to WM6.5..
But i dont know the correct way...
Anyone can help me up?
whats the issue in it its easy just download it connect ur phone with the pc sync it and run the exe
it will simply guide u through the procedure
please note data will be lost from ur phone memory
me too. im confused. please help
Flashing your Viva
Hey guys, I'm a newbie here also and you are right, it is confusing. But here's what I've been able to figured out.
Go to this thread and download the file Opal_HardSPL_v2_0.zip.
When you uncompress this file you'll find see the file Opal_HardSPL_v2.exe. This program is what you use initially to flash the ROM of your Viva so that it's able to be Flashed with newer ROMs.
Download the ROM of your choosing. Sorry, can't help you much here. There are a lot of different ROMs out there and everyone's tastes are different.
Some of the ROMs that you download come with an installation program and some do not. After un-compressing your downloaded ROM if all you have is the single file RUU_signed.nbh then all you have is a ROM.
If you need an ROM update program there are a few out there to choose from. Here is a link to one that you can use.
If your ROM didn't come with an instalation program then copy it into the directory with the installation program you just downloaded and uncompressed.
You need to have your Viva connected and synced to you computer before continuing. Once this is done Flash your Viva with Opal_HardSPL_v2.exe that you previously downloaded.
Re-sync your Viva to the computer.
Flash your Viva by double clicking the ROM Update utility executable.
It takes about 10 minutes or so, be patient. Your Viva will reboot when the Flash is complete and you then just follow the instruction of the screen.
I think that about covers it. If anyone has any suggestions or updates or knows of something that I forgot to mention then please post a response.
Thanks
thanks for easy and quick steps, but i dont have guts to flash my touch viva.

Can you help me? I've got a problem with MDJ FroYo HD v.4.6

Hello,
A quick introduce, first I installed Froyo V1.0 then V3.2 and now V4.6.
V1.0 and V3.2 works perfectly all the time!
I installed FroYo HD v.4.6 for my HD2 and evertyhing works perfectly!
But now I want to restart android again and then I only see 'HTC' ???
Windows Mobile works perfectly but (I think) something went wrong in the instalation... So I installed V4.6 for a second time, but when I restart my mobile to windows mobile > file explorer > CLRCAD> Haret > HTC ...... ?
I don't what to do... can anybody help me with this??
Hope you'll understand me
It's possible that your data.img file has got corrupted.
Rename that (in the Android folder) and run Android - it will create a new one. If that works, then your old one was corrupted and has been lost. If it doesn't work then you can rename the old one back because that's not the problem.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA w
Oke, I'll try it!
But Data.img i'll rename in .... ??? give me an example
tnx

to save you from having to rename the file just back up the image on pc first then put a blank data image supplied with the build (link on original thread and try booting up. If successful make a copy of the new data.img file as well then you have your answer - data corruption. . Once done you can then try and replace the new data file with the old backed up on and try a boot.
doesn't work... I go back to V3.2. this version sucks
tnx for the help btw
teşekkürler

I had the same problem many times, always helped Android deleted from the SD card and reload, I'll try Vass Board by

HI,
Go to HTC site>support>download>ROM upgrade and choose appropriate ROM upgrade for your phone
Change the .exe to .zip and
Extract with winrar or 7z the RUU_Leo_HTC_****************************_Ship.zip
find the larger *.nbh file and rename it to leoimg.nbh and place this file on an sd card that is 4gb or less
and reboot to bootloader (the one with 4 colors, hold volume down button until you see "SEARCHING")
follow the instructions from there
so is possible , thanks

There is no best, it is all a matter of personal taste. Asking for the best is more likely to get you flamed. It is an SD Android, try it, erase it, try another. Repeat until you get one you prefer.
All the SD Androids I've run on the HD2 were rooted.
When it is running Android, it is a fully working Android phone. Before you try the Market get a gmail account (just set one up on the computer) and sign in to the Gmail App, then go to the Market. So any apps you download from the market will work, provided that they would work on a similar Android phone. I've downloaded some games and they either didn't work or the graphics were so poor, but in general the vast amount of downloaded apps I've used worked fine.

first check the SD builds forum - easier as no flashing required, then pick one (e.g. ACA my personal favorite), read the installation instructions (usually just create Android folder on your SD card, then copy the build there), then run using any file manager clrcad.exe and haret.exe which are the android folder, wait for 10-30 minutes until 1st boot is finished, and done

links are marked by brownish font by default, check my previous post,
as for SPL, HSPL etc., you don't need to bother as long as you run Android from SD, that's the beauty of SD builds, enjoy full functionality of android, without the hassle and risk of bricking your device
some general FAQs here and here, but if you want to start fast, you can read those later, installing an SD build is safe

That SPL and radio version are fine, just download the ROM, extract it, click on CLRCD, then HARET, then you're running Android.
And ACA is by far the best ROM you're going to find

what's more to know for the start?
- no need to reinstall from now on, it's just that for now your device will always restart to WinMo, however: find yourself so called "android loader" to automate android loading, there's few of those to choose from, e.g. Android Loader v6.0
- connect android with your google account so your contacts and emails are synced (Settings / Accounts etc...)
- install Battery Monitor Widget, so you always know how much mA your device uses and how much battery is left,
- also search xda for tips on conserving battery power (e.g. disable 3G if not needed, switch off GPS, tweak backlight autobrightness in CM Settings etc.)
- be aware that for now the USB file transfer does not work, to copy files to your HD2 use WinMo or Card Reader or File Expert
- backup often: 1. invest in Titanium Backup, 2. from time to time copy data.img to your PC
- browse through the ACA FAQ and thread (I know it may be hard to read all 14995 messages at once)

All apps are installed on your card, the whole idea of an SD build is that WinMo still sits in ROM, while Android basically consists of two files (sitting in the SD\Android folder) which are mounted at the start: system.ext2 (all system files and apps) and data.img (all user apps and settings). From user point of view you won't notice the difference. Additionally, once you run out of space in your data.img, you can always resize it, there are tools for that, but lets put it aside for now

all links are in my previous post, click on the brown text "Android Loader v6.0" to open,
installation is standard for WinMo: while in Windows Mobile, copy the .cab file to your SD Card and run from within any file manager, then it will guide you, also when in doubt search its thread for more info
i have downloaded it there is no cab file when i extract it from the zip folder.

do i have to be in winmo for this
