after 2.1 official update my phone is not being recognized by the computer when i mount it as disk drive? anyone else?
Try uninstalling HTC sync and uninstalling your HTC driver. Then goto Sprint support site for hero, and download both the HTC sync 2.033 & the ruu. Install sync first ( it has the new proper drivers ) and apply the ruu to phone. This is a new ruu, different from the earlier 2.1 update. Then after first boot, try to mount card.

after u install the htc suite, connect your phone to ur pc. and in the phone's top bar, you'll have an option synchronise... , press that.
it yust a symbol for usb connecting, if i press on the symbol, then it ask if i will mount or dont mount the usb connection. if i press mount the i can open the sd card in explorer, but nothing happen with my sync program? it have no contact with the pc

No i didnt mean the option to mount or unmount...
I guess you plugged in your phone before installing the htc sync right?
i guess you can try uninstalling htc sync, reboot, then installing once again and after that you plug in your phone.

Have you install 64-bit drivers? As far as I'm aware, these may not be part of the HTC Sync setup, and you'd need to get them from the Android SDK.

Dave

You have to do every time. Because android kills the sync after a periode of no action/activity
I have done dozens of searches and come across hundreds of people having the same issue as me and not one solution that actually works...
The software: HTC Sync, version: 2.0.18
The OS: Windows 7
The device: HTC Magic (Stock Rogers version)
The issue: HTC sync installed fine, all drivers installed fine, when I connect my Magic to my PC my phone notification area gives me the option to "HTC Sync" when I select that and it searches for a minute or so it says:
"The phone cannot detect HTC Sync at your PC. Please make sure that HTC Sync is installed and opened on your computer."
Tried rebooting my PC and tried rebooting my Magic (as a few different posts suggested). Tried installing different versions of HTC Sync, but 2.0.18 should be the right one as HTC says that it is for Windows 7:
"This release of HTC Sync for Windows 7 allows for users to sync their Android phones”
It seems Many people are having the same issue as me and yet no one has a solution?!?
Any help, pointers or advice would be Very much appreciated.
I've found that it is easiest to just avoid htc sync on windows 7 altogether. Tried to get it working for like 8 hours yesterday. You may be able to make it work if u use windows 7's xp virtualization mode (Google it) and install the program in an xp environment.
But honestly, i say avoid it until HTC makes it work properly

Well even if I wanted to just give up on syncing it, if I can't get my Magic/PC to recognize each other then I can't ever root/upgrade my phone, so giving up is not an option.
Ok I have managed to finally find a solution that works (for me).
1. Install HTC Sync
2. Download these drivers: http://depositfiles.com/files/yd61xorii and then Unzip them
3. connect your Magic to your PC
4. on your PC select: Start>Control Panel>Device Manager>ADB Interface>Rightclick>Update driver software>Browse My Computer For Driver Software>Browse to the location you unziped the drivers to>Let Me Pick From A List(Don't let it pick or it will pick the wrong ones!)>Click on "My HTC">Click Next.
Done.
you can root and upgrade w/o htc sync.
I did it yesterday. you just have to use the goldcard method to flash the proper spl, then you can put anything on the sd card. Windows recognizes the phone as a flash drive regardless of wether or not it works with sync

You can flash your SPL without connecting your phone to your PC? (I just got my Magic to I have never done anything to it yet)
But anyways I also want the ability to use my carrier upgrades and for that I Need my phone to recognize my PC.
And most importantly I need a seamless way to keep all my different phones in sync with Outlook and HTC Sync is the only way to do that. So I'm glad I got it figures out.
HTC Sync here shows it works with Windows 7 now:
http://87.106.248.77/download/Driver//HTC Tattoo/HTC Sync 2.0.18/HTCSync.exe
yeah you can flash a new spl w/o connecting to computer.
but by all means, if you got it working, more power to you
Ive tried all the above idea to get HTC Sync to work on my PC (with Win 7) nothing works......

Have you got your Magic rooted and customized the ROM?
I was able to connect few days ago, after I upgraded to 1.6 and lately 2.1, I was unable to do so...
I tried simple root and it wouldn't read the image file. I rooted via toasts method but my EVO won't recognize HTC sync or vis-versa. How do I get sync to recongnize my evo?
When you plug it in a notification pops up allowing you to choose the data type. Choose sync.
You probably dont have adb set up, though im holding out on rooting.
Swyped from my Evo 4G
I choose sync but it wont recognize my phone. adb?

have you downloaded the lastest HTC sync from HTC? 2.0.33
Download that first and install.
Then plug your phone in afterwards.
I downloaded 2.0.40. Neither worked. trying to get adb installed.
You need a driver for adb thats not in htc sysnc. I have posted window 7 drivers in some other thread that has all the drivers for different os's. Search for adb drivers.
I had to do a few things with my hero:
--Download and install htc sync
--download and install AndroidSDK
--manually install win7 drivers
When I got the evo, I had an issue to. It ended up being the usb bug/issue that others were having. Phone wouldn't connect, unless in fastboot or something. There is a thread for that in the development section. USB/sdcard issue thread.
I installed the sdk and the drivers (took forever to find them) and I was able to sync. later in the process i was asked to sync again and it wouldn't sync???????
I have the latest froyostone V1 from Energy released August 8 and I believe lot many like me have issues connecting with PCs. I had installed HTC Sync software from HTC Website, but the PC does not recognize and the phone does not give me option for connection type.
I posted this issue in the specific threads as well but no response and hence I am opening this issue so that experts outside the specific thread can guide us how to connect to PC. OR any other build that works perfectly. All my contacts are in Outlook and I want to sync them.
Any help or guidance much appreciated !!!
i made a thread already for connecting with drivers and all search is your friend

ADB and Automount does not support synchronizing the outlook contacts or emails, that HTC Sync can do..
Have installed SDK and most of it's component including USB Drivers for XP r3, but all in vain, HTC Sync does not detect it.
Automount, I can detect my storage card but that is not what i am looking here. Any help on sync of the outlook contacts will be great help. Also offline sync of emails from my outlook as we do for winmo..
This was explained already in darkstone's thread. He took out most usb functionality because files were being corrupted when transfered from pc due to the fact that the operating system is running off of the SD card.
Use a different build, or better yet, transfer your files to a folder from winmo and then boot to android and voila! your files will be there. Search is your BEST friend.

To transfer the files, "Auto Mount your SD Card" is better solution from copy to WinMO and then find it in Android using the explorer. But I was trying to sync my offline mails and outlook contacts as we do in winmo. Do you mean that if we sync in winmo, i could see my contacts in Android, I don't think so it is possible.

drivers lol
From htc site got them this morning
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
all i see is tether driver i want like the adb one
I think the tether drivers will work fine, because all you need is for the system to detect the phone.
Here you go: http://www.htc.com/us/support/t-mobile-mytouch-4g/downloads/
Nope I tried and still shows adb in my device manager
they're on the phone if you connect it to your computer you'll see them. It also has a qik pc app on it. A few nice surprises.
ill have to check the other sd card i put the one from my nexus one in right away as it has all my stuff on it already thanks

you can zip up those files on the SD card? When I purchased this they guy in the store swapped out the SIM and memory card from old to new phone (returned G2), so I don't have them. We didn't think about any factory files being pre-loaded on it.
The driver on the sd card is the same as the one on the HTC website. What exactly are you trying to do?
I had a problem looking for adb drivers myself, a while back. And it's true, the drivers are included on the root of the card in an executable file called 'HTC Driver'.

please post questions in q&a section.
i had trouble getting the drivers to install when i had my g2 and i read to install pdanet on my computer and that would install them. i installed pdanet and it installed the drivers just fine and i was able to get adb to recognize my phone.
to late
I think you needed this, check this out

If you have difficulty connecting to comp with drivers already installed, uncheck the "USB debug mode" and you should have no problems.
