Hi,
I have a hidden connection (Name : MMS) in my connection manager(Made automatically) which I see it is for MMS. Is it possible to make it visible?
The problem is that when I am trying to make connection from laptop it is using automatically this connection (by *99#).
Thx
to view the settings of the hidden one (its not really hidden, you can only see one modem connection at once)
Mine are 'mobile web' and 'o2 active', with o2 active being the hidden mms one, replace mine with whatever yours are called.
settings menu all settings connections connections advanced select networks
change the dropdown from 'mobile web' to 'o2 active', and you will find when you jump back to the tasks tab it is now showing the hidden one, and you can access its settings by tapping 'manage existing connections'.
Of course, now the original one is hidden and your programs will try to use the mms one, and probably fail.

i have created two GPRS connections in settings -> connections -> connections -> manage existing connections. but when i tap [G] icon at top status bar, a baloon which is popping up says: 'to connect to either the internet or work, set up a new connection in settings'. quite strange and i don't know how to make my connection shortcuts to show within this ballon? :-o on my previous iPAQ rx3715 with WM 2003SE it used to work fine...
I'm trying to delete all GRPS connections, like 'My Work Network', and 'My ISP'. I figured out that 'My Work Network' uses registry-key {18AD9FBD-F716-ACB6-FD8A-1965DB95B814}, but I can't seem to delete it. Does any of you know how to delete both of these connections, so I can add my own connection?
\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Destinations\My Work Network\\DestId={18AD9FBD-F716-ACB6-FD8A-1965DB95B814}
\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Destinations\My ISP\\DestId={ADB0B001-10B5-3F39-27C6-9742E785FCD4}
Hi Jainoxi!
I think you got it a bit wrong. 'My work network' and 'My ISP' are not GPRS connections, but profiles.
To add a GPRS connection:
go to 'add new modem connection' (in connections), select 'Celular line (GPRS)' as the modem, and follow your provider's instructions for the rest of the settings.
Good luck
They are in fact 'connections', and although emtpy, they are the default settings. I know how to add my own connection, but I simply want these two removed...
You should take a look here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...us/mobilesdk5/html/wce51grfcm_networkscsp.asp
And using DMProcessConfigXML you can remove them...
Not sure for the default ones though
And please change the topic's title, you are confusing users...rename it to remove destination networks for example
Good luck
Raul
OK.
When I'm at home, I use my Wifi AP to connect to the Internet and my home network. I have to set my settings to:
Settings --> Connections --> Connections --> Adcanced --> Select Networks --> My Work Network.
When I'm on the move and my HTC TyTn is connected to KPN UMTS I hve to manually set my settings to:
Settings --> Connections --> Connections --> Adcanced --> Select Networks --> KPN GPRS / UMTS.
Is there any chance that this can be set to any kind of automatic mode, a scripting tool on my todayscreen or other solution???
I am not familiar with an automatic way to switch networks, but here is what I do on my Jamin:
My GPRS settings are under My ISP (just tap 'add new connection in the main connections tab, note My ISP has to be selected for use in 'advanced' for this option to be available)
When I connect to my home WiFi (or any other WiFi) I select 'this network connects: to the internet'.
In advance->network selection both lists are on My ISP.
This way I never have to switch between networks and all apps (except push mail that insists on GPRS) use WiFi if available and GPRS if not.
Thx
Wow, thanks!!
4 months of trying, mindbreaking hours. While the solution is so simple!
IT WORKS!

I need to do what the opening post dictates also, but I dont quite have a grasp on the above.
Can anyone make it any clearer? Sorry
I recently got the HD, but since I live in Canada I figured it wasn't worth it to get a data plan (Can only use EDGE and prices are outrageous). As such, I'm wondering if there are any apps or methods to block data.
I would still want to be able to use wifi for internet and such, but stop EDGE from working. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Goto the Comm Manager and turn Data Connection off? Don't know what that does to wifi which has a seperate on/off? That failing, could you not disable data from your operator?
what works for me is to set networks for automatic internet access to "company network":
Start - settings - connections tab - connections icon - extended tab - select networks - automatic internet access => set to company network
I have a german device so had to guess english names ... be warned.
if you make the change and try to update weather data you should get an error.
Set it back to your phone provider should make it connect (and charge you) again.
I called my carrier and asked for data transfer to be blocked.
Start - Settings - Connections
Tap the Connections icon
There you might see an entry for your mobile provider - in my case I see
"Vodafone Live"
- Add a new modem
- Edit my proxy server
- Manage existing connections
Tap 'Manage existing connections'
You will see a list of modems (in my case I see 'Vodafone Live')
Tab and hold the modem
Choose delete
Anyone tried MoDaCo's NoData utility?

dwnload tweaks 3.3. There is an option to disable one or al of your data connections.
You need to install compact framework 3.5 first (google it if unsure).
Hello guys
I was wondering what your experiences are with the weather feature on the free SPB panel. Is the weather supposed to auto update? there is an option set to automatically update, but for some reason mine doesnt. But when im connected to wifi or active sync it updates.
I have made sure non of the other options are ticked like docked or free connection as I want it to update through GPRS.
Can someone tell me if its supposed to update through GPRS or whether its designed to update only through wi-fi and active sync.
I have a vodafone x1 if that helps.
I had the same problem, and fixed it by either:
1 - amending the MMS settings (voda sent me the settings which needed to be entered manually), if you're getting MMS messages OK then it isn't this.
2 - Change connection settings from post #7 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=450502
Not sure which one it was cos I did them both at around the same time and noticed weather updates regularly then!
Sounds like you are using the Vodafone WAP settings to surf the web (classed as MyISP). This tends to block most requests that aren't done via a browser* and instead you should use Vodafone Internet settings (classed as WEB).
*that said quite a lot off apps now run over the WAP APN on Vodafone as they have tweaked the firewall
Does anyone know if I need to change any settings on AT&T? I love the graphics of this app, but it won't initiate its own internet connection. I have to check email or use the browser first to get the weather to update. I looked at SPB forums and no one knows why. Tried re-installing, but that didn't help either.
Thanks alot guys
Your help is greatfully appreciated.
for anyone who shares the problem:
On your Xperia go to....

then select the connections tab
then the connections icon
followed by the advanced tab
Now chosse the select networks button and in the top drop down menu (the connection for programs which automatically connect to the net to use) and change it to "WEB" rather than "My ISP".
Then you need to set up mms again otherwise you wont be able to send messages

15. In the User Name Box, Enter wap
16. In the password Box, Enter wap
17. The Domain should be left blank
18. Tap on the Advanced button,
